Raven was giggling like crazy, rolling around in the soft grass. She tugged off her shoes and stockings, wiggling her free toes in the tickling plants.
Most of the flutterboos had risen from her arm, feeling that if they ate another granual of sugar their fragile wings woulnd't be able to steady them in the air. Some remained diligently cleaning her feathers of every speck they could find, resulting with very shiny feathers.
"C'mon, Awex!" she called with an arm movement. "Expwore!" She was getting hungry... maybe more worms would be about? Her stomach whined, agreeing with her tastes.
Bird stared blankely at the redstained cookies, words eluding her. And then she started shaking. And then chortling. And then full-blown laughter was erupting.
"Oh my... that's-- that's the best laugh I've had all week! Interesting tastes. Ah-- anyway, I best be avoiding them... Sandwhich looks good."

"Lesse...I've got a cucumber one, a ham one, a turkey one, and a roast beef one. Feel free to take your pick!" Feather took the corresponding sandwhiches out of the backpack and placed them before Bird, each tightly enclosed inside it's own plastic bag.
She hastily stuffed the meat cookies back into the backpack.
"Whee! Expwore!!" Alexander happily complied, hurrying and following after her. He happily jumped around in the grass, his tiny wings flapping enabling him to stay hovering above the wild plants every so often, even if only for a moment or two. Suddenly, as he landed in one particular spot, his feet touched some oddly mushy ground. He peered down, wiggling his toes as he felt the mud. A small spring, perhaps?
He narrowed his eyes, bending down and looking even closer. What was THAT coming out of the mud?! A weird pink squiggly thing?
"WAVEN! WAVEN! A SQUIGGLY!" Alex exclaimed suddenly, declaring his odd find. He jumped up and down, not able to contain his excitement.

Raven, who had been examining a berry bush (the smell was tantalizing her nose), turned at the call of her friend, bangs waving in the wind. She hurried over.
"Squiggly?" she inquired, peering down. She smiled delightedly when the creature she had found quite appatizing wriggled below. "WORM!" she squealed, picking it up and sticking it in her mouth, sucking it in as you would to a noodle and swallowing.
Bird selected the turkey sandwhich, taking a large bite. She hadn't realized how hungry she was until sher swallowed. "... Hey, this is good." Munch.
"So, what've you been up to lately?" (Gotta go for a bit. xD;; Be back soon!)

Alex stared blankly at Raven for several moments, struggling to contemplate what she had just done. He looked down towards the mud pit, then back to the girl.
"You eat..." He took a step forward, suspiciously eyeing Raven. "squigglies?"
Another silence followed.
At once, his features lit up. "COOL!" He cried, grinning widely. "Myturnmyturnnn!! Help me find one, please...?" He whimpered, giving Raven the 'puppy eye' look.
"Nothing, really..." Feather shrugged, taking the last bite of her sandwhich. "Ever since Alex has come into my life, he's kind of taken over. Not that I mind, of course! I love the little guy to death but my God...I don't know if my living room can take another one of his exploring binges much longer!"
She laughed warily, speaking only the sad truth.
"How about you?"

"'Kay!" she chirped, plopping down to the soft soil and sinking her fingers in, scraping the dirt towards her and slopping some on her white shorts.
Soon, two small figures were crawling over her small hands. She brought them up, held one out to Alexander, and slurped the other--smaller-- one herself, wiping her lips of excess dirt.
Bird laughed, chewing her latest bite for a moment before replying. "Pretty much the same with me. Raven's pretty quiet; she just looks at pictures and stuff. And... destroys something occassionally... But I s'pose evey munchkin does." She sunk her teeth into the sandwhich again, making a pleased sound at the flavor.

"Squiggly! Thank you!" Alexander gladly accepted the worm and shoved it immediately into his mouth, giving the action hardly any though. He chewed and chewed.
...Ew...
How could she LIKE these?
Alexander winced, feeling the gooey guts of the creature against his teeth and tongue. He wouldn't spit it out, though. He just couldn't. Not with Raven standing right there, cheerful as ever.
He swallowed, shuddering slightly.
"G-G-Good!" He lied, plastering a false smile on his face.
"They'll be all grown up before we know it, though...so I guess we should be grateful for how they are now...I'd rather have a little kid not listen to me than a bigger, angst-ridden one..."
Feather reached down in her pack again, and discreetly pulled out the bag of meat cookies.
Ohshit. It looked like they were starting to bake from the heat of the bag. Alex wouldn't like that...
"HEY, ALEX!" Feather called out, holding out the bag for the boy to see. "Want some of these? If you're hungry, that is!"
Alexander's head turned at the sound of his guardians voice, and his spirits were risen at the sight of the cookies. Those would get the nasty worm taste out of his mouth, for certain!
"Waven want cookie? Come on!" He gestured for her to follow him back to the two older girls, a genuine grin washing over the previously fake one.

Blinking curiously, Raven nodded with a fainter enthusiasm than she previously owned, following the other. Well... she suppoesd he hadn't liked the worm. Which was odd, because she found them just as good as fruit-- although she definitely preferred the latter.
Shrugging the thought away, and brain finally processing the words that had been spoken, Raven increased her pace. "COOKIES!" she howled, throwing out her arms and beginning to race Alexander. Some of the butterflies flapped their wings furiously to catch up, gluttonous thoughts still wheeling in their minds' gears.
Bird glanced at the cookies curiously, memory speaking. Well... she certainly hoped Raven wouldn't eat one... Blue jays weren't known as carnivorous. Imagining the faces the small child would make after tasting one, Bird giggled, chewing on another bite thoughtfully.
"Yeah... although, you do have to wonder what on Earth they're going to look like when they get older."(And the flutterboos. =D)

((OMG PRETTY! XD -will have to put them somewhere on the front page- heart ))
Alexander tilted slightly forward to streamline his body the best his could, taking on Raven's challenge. He sped forward, as quickly as a toddler could, keeping his wings tucked carefully behind his back. He scrambled over the grass, storming towards Feather's outstretched hand. Whether Raven was in front or in back of him, he didn't know. He just had to keep moving..
He snatched the bag as soon as he came upon it, and tore it open and began to eat one ravenously. Of course, he was mindful of the other cookies, but decided to set them aside for Raven.
Feather smiled as Alex took the bag and dug in. That meant two people liked her food! She turned back towards Bird, after hearing her comment.
"Yeah...true...I find myself thinking about that a lot. And those wings, too. I wonder how they'll turn out...for both Raven AND Alex. Speaking of which...have you tried teaching Raven to fly yet? That's part of the reason I brought Alex out today. I figured a meadow would be a lot better than my living room, in terms of stuff he could knock over and destroy while in the process of his learning..."

( whee <33) Raven, no match for the other's speed, flopped to the ground beside Bird, spooning herself against her mother's leg and catching up on breathing. Jeez... how was Alex so fast? The child cooed, relaxing.
"Well... now that you mention it..." Bird flicked a quick glance down. "I think she's afraid of flying. Absoloutely refused to when I tried to encourage her-- well, not really fly, more along the lines of gliding --but still. It's a bit worrying."
Raven blinked azure irises up at her mother's concerned gaze, bewildered as to why she'd be looking at her like that. Some of the butterflies had managed to keep up to the racing children, and landed heavily onto Raven's feathers, wherever they might've been.

"Hm..." Feather murmured thoughtfully as she processed all of Bird's words. Moments after, her features lit up as an idea crossed her mind. She stood up, looked to Alex, Raven, and back to Bird. "Maybe we could teach them together! I'm sure Raven would probably feel a lot better about learning the skill if she was learning right alongside a friend, right?" The girl's eyes glimmered with excitement.
Alex continued munching on his cookie, and after he finished, offered the remaining few ones to Raven. "Cookie good!" He promised, clapping his hands enthusiastically.

Bird raised an eyebrow, a grin slowly spreading across her face. "It's worth a shot," she said, attention suddenly snagged by the offered cookie. A snort erupted suddenly when she saw what it was.
Raven curiously took the cookie, noticing the red stains across it. And... after a moment's examination, it had squishy bits, too. She shrugged off her cautious self, seeing Alexander's expectant look, and stuffed the whole thing in her mouth.
Her face twisted itself oddly, and she froze completely when the taste coated itself over her tastebuds. "Nnngrr..." she stopped trying to maneuver the substance out of her mouth, seeing the other child's hopeful look, and summoned her false smile, lips twitched from the taste. "N-n... num!" she nodded, chewing it once. Raven made another silly face as a fresh wave of the taste struck her senses.

"YAY!" Alexander cheered, apparently buying Raven's lie concerning the cookie's taste. He smiled at her reaction, and reached into the bag for a second time. "Want anot-"
Before he could finish offering a second cookie to the girl, he was swept up suddenly into his guardian's arms. "We're going to teach you to fly, Alex! You and Raven together! It'll be fun, I promise!" Feather swung the boy around happily, and he squealed and yipped in response. Sure, it seemed like it'd be scary, but flying would be great once he got the hang of it. Once Feather's motion stopped, Alexander peered down at Raven and extended a hand to her. "Flyflytime!"
The black haired woman set down her child, and proudly watched him.
"...Ready, Alex? Raven?"
Alex nodded several times, almost to the point where he was beginning to become dizzy.

Raven looked absoloutely terrified. She swallowed the interesting cookie as soon as she heard the word.
"F--fly?"
The child shrank back into Bird's legs, the woman standing. "Oh, you're such a scardycat," she chastised, picking up the wide-eyed Rave. "If one of you falls, we'll catch you, okay? What's there to be afraid of?"
Raven clung to her mother's arm like a lifeline. Suddenly, the breeze was a little too cold... she shivered a bit, exhiliration pumping through her. Ohh, too scary! And.. and she didn't have wings like Alex's!

"Come on, Wave! You can do it!" Alexander urged, an encouraging smile clear on his face as he stumbled over to seek her out. "It's not so scawy!"
Feather grinned at the fact her boy was acting so fearless, and bent over with the intention of coaxing the girl out of her shell. "It won't be that bad, Raven! Alexander will be right with you, and like Bird said, we'll catch you if you fall!"

Raven warily nodded her head, thinking she'd give it a shot. She didn't trust her wings-- they were much too small. But then she thought about the small birds she had seen; their wings were smaller than hers. Hey! This'd be a piece of cake!
She grinned, trying to stand on Bird's arms-- and failing. Bird laughed, setting her on the ground to risk no further harm to herself. "So... they sort of need a high place to start off, don't you think?" She took a look around. "Where d'you s'pose they should take off?"
