Rei pondered the instructions for a brief moment, before setting off to work. He was quick to learn, apparently, as he would be done before any of the other students were even halfway done. He put it together as though he weren't even paying attention, but if one looked closely at him, they could see his eyes were narrowed in concentration.
When he had finished putting together the clock's innards, he closed it and began designing the outside. He made it simple yet elegant, black with white zig-zags...almost like a backward zebra.

Jack stopped while making the rounds, leaning over Rei's shoulder. "You're good. You have an eye for this sort of thing. Ever considered engineering?" He laid his hand lightly on the boy's back, stealing a second of intimacy.

"Hmm?..." Rei zoned back in at the feeling of Jack's hand on his back. His amber eyes peeked up at his companion and smiled, before looking down at what was in his hands. "Umm...when did I do this?" Rei pursed his lips, looking very confused.

"Just now, and in about half the time of anyone else." Jack leaned to study the work more closely, his cheek almost pressed to Rei's. "You don't remember?"

Rei's breathe caught when Jack's cheek touched his own and that sent his heart racing in his chest. It was pounding so hard, he was sure he would notice. His body shook nervously but unnoticably. "I don't remember even getting it..." he admitted, confused.

Jack wondered if something wasn't going around. He leaned on the work table on his elbow, pressing his other hand to Rei's forehead in concern. "You feel okay, babe?" he asked quietly. "You seem a little out of it, and if you don't remember doing something this complex..."

Rei blushed heavilly, unused to this kind of care and attention. He felt dizzy and his vision was hazing over at the edges, growing black quickly. "Jack..." he dropped the clock onto the desk and fell back out of his seat, hitting the floor hard. He was breathing hard but with short, clipped breathes.

Jack dropped down to make sure he hadnt hit his head. "Rei? Damn, there must be some kind of virus going around." He slid his arms under the boy, lifting him up and cradling him to his chest.
"Everyone stick with finishing your kits, but no power tools without me in the room. Jones, you're in charge." He nodded to the most alert looking of the remaining students and carried Rei into his office. He laid him on the sofa, not quite as big as the one in his other office, and laid his head to his chest to check his heart rate.

Rei's eyes fluttered. His heart rate was loud, too loud, and labored, the exact same as his breathing. His chest lifted and fell eratically, as if he had no control over his system at that moment. Sweat coated his brow and his brows were pinched in a angle that signaled pain.
"J-ck...I'- s-r-y...I d-dn'- t-ll yo-..." The words were chopped, but Jack could most likely make them out enough to understand. He lifted a hand and sifted it through Jack's hair, holding it gently. "My he-rt...it'- b-d at t-mes..."

Jack cupped his hand to Rei's cheek as he lifted his head. "Okay, relax, babe. Should I call your mom? Do you have any medication you need?"

"I h-ve m-d-cat-on...in m- po-ke-..." He wheezed heavilly, gripping at Jack's sweatshirt, unable to reach the medication himself.

Jack put one arm around Rei to reassure him that he wouldn't leave, with his other hand searching through his pockets. "I'm right here, babe. Just listen to my voice and relax as much as you can. I've got ya." He pulled out the medication, opening it with one hand to hold it to the boy's lips, keeping his outward demeanor calm and cool in spite of the rock in his gut.

Rei swallowed the medicine gratefully and as quick as he could manage, in hopes that the hand squeezing his heart would disappear and ease away. After he drank the medicine, his head fell back against Jack's arm and he gasped for breathe.
The minutes ticked by slowly, so slowly it felt as if he were stuck in time, non-existent. Finally, the tension slipped away and he regained his normal breathing rhythm. He relaxed against Jack and slowly, but surely, became normal again.

Jack finally smiled, giving Rei a hug. "Gave me a scare there, babe. Feeling better?"

Martin quietly worked one his clock, putting every peice together slowly He reached for his screw driver and accidentaly knowcked if off. He quietly mumered, "sh*t" and leaned to the side to get it. He gripped the tool by it's yellow handle and stared to rise up again, and slammed the back of his head against the desk, "Errrngh...!" he bit his lip trying not to shout. He sat up and rubbed his head, then began to work on his clock once more.
