Seraphine gasped softly when they found the sitting room. What a find! They were sure to find something in here! She stepped over to get to the desk, but Dimitri beat her to it. Well she could uncover some furniture to see if there was anything on those! Walking across the room to what appeared to be an armchair covered by a dusty sheet, Seraphine reached down and tugged to see if it'd come off.

She paused when the music started, blinking and exchanging a quick look with Seduire before looking at the door from which it seemed to be coming from. "That sounds beautiful..." The girl smiled. "I don't hear an oboe though." She shook her head and walked over to the door, climbing onto the chair and putting her ear to the door. This must have meant they really weren't alone in the house! They could ask questions! She got off the chair and looked up, finally noticing the chandelier above their heads. Oh! Maybe there was something hidden in it...or she could take a piece of it like she'd wanted to try and take a crystal off the other chandelier. She doubted she could reach that one. Walking over to it, Sera reached up with one hand (Standing on her tiptoes if necessary) to brush her fingers against the chandelier. She'd probably just go look for a sturdy footrest later to stand on so she could get a better look at the whole thing.

Thanes movements were far slower and more cautious than the other boy and girl's. He travelled behind them, letting them find their niches in the sitting room as he took stock of it for himself. Slightly narrowed eyes took in the covered furniture, which for the most part had been left alone. Minus the desk. With only a slight shiver at the sudden music, the wizard stepped forward, using his hand to slowly pull off all the covers he came upon, one by one. It was an action to stall, for the most part.

Whoever, or whatever was in the next room was his real target. There was something leading them, or at least the puzzle was getting larger and more difficult to solve. Thanes was absolutely sure a key had to do with the music player, but he needed help to move such a large chair.

How to ask for that with dignity was beyond him.

Do you want me to assssk?, Rotary inquired, nearly reading her Forgotten's thoughts directly. She had been helping him with the various pieces of furniture, using her long pale tongue to help pull and tug at all of the different covers. It had never been hard for her to see right through her boy's facade at being the true Lone Wolf. He needed others to survive, or else she would not be there in the first place. Even Thanes would admit it on a good day.

She recieved no reply for some time. The youth was busy thinking.

The Sitting Room

-As the sheets covering the old pieces of furniture were lifted, great plumes of pale dust rose into the dim air...settling back slowly as they stilled. The furniture was in good condition, carved wood and delicate thin velvet. Every piece was heavy, it seemed...even the metal based lamp with its intricately beaded shade. Though nothing was hidden under the furniture, the ornate rug was toasty warm.

The roll top clacked open quietly, revealing a surface scattered with papers and envelopes. All were blank, pages crumbled with age and the quill limp and tattered. A spool of pink ribbon and a small wooden box rested on the inner shelf. The drawer of the desk did not open, even with a good tug...the little inset bronze lock probably being the reason.

At Sera's touch, the chandelier chimed...hanging crystals swaying at the brush. It was out of reach for anything more, high above the floor. The finely cut crystals dazzled in the dim light, however...apparently more than simple cut glass.

Over the music, the sound of friction drifted. Those closer to the door could hear it more clearly...the soft muffled noise of fabric against fabric from the other room. With a dull thump, near the blocked door, the noise ended....but the soft music continued to play.

Dimitri was absorbed in what he was doing, sifting through the envelopes and papers in each of the separate shelves and openings. He came upon the spool of ribbon and the box. Eyes twinkling, he took out the spool. "I don't think she'll like this..." He muttered and set it next to the quill. He then sifted even more through the desk, attempting the locked drawer, eliminating his choices before taking on the most promising one.

Remember crawled out from beneath the dust infested divan with a sneeze before padding over to Dimitri, hopping on the desk to see what was happening. She briefly considered inviting the others over but kicked that thought out of her mind. They could come over if they wanted. It wasn't as if they were waiting for her permission!

Her counterpart agreed with her, she knew, and both shied from whatever small part of the leader position they had unconsciously taken up. He reached over to the box that had seemed so promising and grasped it, inspecting every angle, nook and cranny that thing had on the outside. Then he opened it, eager, almost, to see the inside contents.

Obviously both were too excited to hear the noises. The door wasn't, after all, going anywhere and this room, this desk, seemed much more important than whatever this unknown thing was behind the door.

Seduire blinked and turned his head around towards Rotary. Had she just said something? Ask? Ask what? Well this was odd, did the boy have a problem asking for things? Tilting his head a little, Seduire flapped his wings once and shifted his weight from foot to foot.

Sera was busy staring at the chandelier. It really was beautiful...maybe if she could reach just a little higher she could pull a few of the crystals off it. She hated to ruin something so beautiful but they needed to find things that Nisha might like! And these crystals were so pretty. She stood on the very tips of her toes and reached up for a crystal in hopes of getting a good enough grip on at least two to pull them off. The strange noises coming from the music room distracted her from her task, however, and she fell back onto her heels. "Did anyone else hear that?" Her fear of this house wasn't making her go crazy was it? She did not want to be like her guardian.

The Sitting Room

The box in Dimitri's hand was fine, dark wood...the carving rubbed almost flat by years of friction. It opened easily, though, and revealed precious objects nestled in satin. The first was a stick of rich red wax, crumbled white with age along the corners...and the second was an ebony stamping seal. The seal, when inverted, would surely leave an elegant uppercase 'P'.

The chandelier, however, wasn't nearly so cooperative. The crystals chimed, knocking together as Sera touched them...but didn't stop swinging even as she dropped to her heels. With a sudden crack, the plaster in the ceiling split, and the entire hanging structure dropped an inch and jerked to a stop, trembling.

It didn't hold long. Without another warning, the chandelier simply dropped.

Dimitri carefully looked at the two items, almost afraid to touch the wax lest it break. But he picked up the stamp seal and viewed it, wondering what it was for. Envelopes? When did people stop stamping envelopes with wax? Two hundred years ago, or so, he thought. Surely there was another owner between then and now...? -There might've been but this is the House. They might never've found this room. But one must wonder who's in the next room... Remember said in his head, being sure to keep it from the other daemons.
Dimitri blinked, -Why would they put on music, anyway? Just as we walked in? And where's Nisha with that light?- His cat daemon glanced over in surprise, -Maybe they heard us coming and turned it on. And maybe it's taking Nisha awhile to find the right switch. Heaven knows it takes you long enough to find it.- She said in a teasing tone, keeping that thought from the daemons as well. No one had to know her Forgotten was completely inept at technology.

Their thoughts and conversation were interrupted as the plaster split in the ceiling, stopped, then just dropped down to the ground. He jerked his head around in surprise and felt Remember jumped in surprise. The plaster dust was like fog in the room so he couldn't see what was happening. He shoved the stamp in the box and shoved that in one of his bigger pockets. He could show them later. Now they had to see if everyone was alright.

"Is everyone alright?" He asked with a cough.

Seraphine wasn't paying much attention to the chiming above her head. The music was just so pretty. Her eyes suddenly widened when a bit of plaster fell into her head and tore her from her thoughts. Oh no...

It wasn't...it couldn't...it wouldn't!

But it was, it could and it most certainly would fall on her head. With a shriek the girl jumped backwards out of the way of the oncoming chandelier. She just stood there and stared at the broken chandelier with wide eyes, her hands protecting the top of her head from anything else that may fall on her. Seraphine whimpered a little and sank down to sit on the floor, giving a little nod. "Y-y-yes..." She whined pathetically, obviously very frightened by what'd just happened. Nevermind that she'd brought it on herself! She could've been hurt quite badly! Maybe even be prevented from dancing for a very long time! If that ever happened she'd just...die! All she'd wanted was a stupid crystal.

The Sitting Room

-The music continued to play, quiet against the sounds of settling plaster. Many of the crystals were undamaged, shining from the pile of wreckage...but even more were shattered, leaving shards dappled across the rug. -

The Basement

Finally showered, and honestly a bit bored, Nisha sighed. She had tried everything to get Desperate unstuck, but the lard a** simply wasn't going to budge. She was getting a bit short tempered at the strain of being apart from him...even though they had developed a very generous 'range.' Even that had limits.

The basement was dimly lit, the single bulb flickering in mimicry of the storm outside. Lips twisted into a frown, the young woman yanked open the fuse box. The next few minutes were spend staring blankly at a myriad of black switches and metal clips...about half of them looking randomly flipped, and none of them labeled.

Chewing her lip, more concerned for her safety than anyone else's comfort, Nisha's fingers traveled over the options before coming to settle on the bottom most fuse breaker. "Well, ********." Had to start somewhere! The fuse was harder to flip than she thought it would be!

The switched toggled with a satisfying clack, and the single, pathetic light above her was suddenly snuffed....plunging the girl into darkness.

"Double ********." This wasn't going to be easy.

Dimitri gave a nod, though he knew she couldn't see it. Sera was safe, at least. Thanes hadn't yet answered so he was unsure about how the wizard was. As the dust began to clear, he gave one look at the broken crystals on the floor before picking up Remember. His daemon purred at the contact, settling so he could carry her like a baby.

The plaster dust was clear where Sera was, though still thick wear Thanes was, so he headed over to Sera. His boots crushed the crystals which made him wonder what she was doing. THen it struck him like a rock. She was trying to get that damn chandelier down! This house was hundreds of years old, added to the fact it was probably infected with plaster-eating bugs and she tried to even touch a heavy chandelier, which was probably barely being held up in the first place.

He gave an inward groan. Girls could be such a pain at times. He shifted Remember a bit when he reached her. "What now?" If she didn't have anything important to say, then Thanes could come over and all three of them could look at the stuff in that box he'd found. Although some selfish part of him wanted to keep the knowledge all for himself, he wanted to see if they could figure out something he couldn't about it.

Sera wasn't trying to take down the chandelier! The girl frowned when Dimitri started to walk over, rubbing her arms and leaning down to pick up a few of the crystals that weren't broken. "I...just wanted to get one or two." She confessed with a sheepish smile, tilting her head at the boy's question. Well it'd be pointless to go back the way they came! There was nothing out there!

Seduire's ruffled feathers settled back down into place when he saw that Sera was perfectly fine. She was a bit frightened but otherwise unharmed. Both daemon and dancer looked back at the door the music was coming from. "Let's go in there." What a bold statement.

Thanes had been quite surprised by the sudden crashing of the chandelier, but with quick reflexes he had jumped backwards. He fell to a knee, raising his arm to cover his eyes right as the item smashed into the floor. Slowly, he pulled down his arm, gazing at the crystals right before him in surprise.

It was the girl's fault, of that he was sure.

A quick gaze and he was assured that Rotary was quite all right. She had been even farther back than the young Forgotten from the now damaged area. The daemon was shocked though, which could be seen in the flicking of her tongue and the wideness of the red orbs which were her eyes. Thanes? Thanes are you all right?

"I am fine," the young man murmured, answering both the Mimic and his more human companions in one statement. He rose onto his feet, swaying a little as he fought to regain his balance after such a scare. A small nod to Rotary, and she was collecting some of the cracked crystals for him, hiding them deep inside of her chest-like body. "I think there is a more important issue at hand."

With long strides he passed by Dimitri, stopping only briefly by Sera in order to pat her on the head and mutter something that sounded far too much like, "Good girl."

A bit farther on and he was by the large chair that was placed infront of the door that was still letting the music filter on through. Using his shoulder and single arm, Thanes began to attempt and push the large object all on his own, even if it was perfectly hopeless.

Dimitri raised his eyebrows. Good girl? Since when was Sera a dog? -Since she started following and doing everything you say? Came the unasked-for reply Remember supplied, keeping the thought from the other daemons like she almost always did. He shook his head at the comment, more of to clear the dog-Sera thought from his head instead of defend the girl, his hair flying at the movement. When he managed to get it out of the indents above his cheekbones and below his brow, he could see that Thanes was attempting to move the armchair with his one arm.

He blinked, looked at the chair, then the older boy, then blinked again. Right. Remember snickered quietly. He gave her a glare before beckoning at Sera to have her follow him, then walked over to the chair, going to the opposite side of the chair. He set Remember down, and grabbed the arm, "Sera, get the other arm and help push, will you?" He asked as politely as he could. After all, Sera looked athletic but she probably wasn't used to pushing things and Thanes... wasn't athletic. It would probably take all three of them.

Remember scooted to the front of the chair and watched with a curious cat-gaze. -I won't be much help... She said decisively. Dimitri gave a nod to that comment and pulled as hard as he could, just in case they didn't need Sera to help.

The Sitting Room

The last of the dust had settled by the time Thanes pressed his shoulder to the couch. True to expectation, it didn't budge...even as he planted his feet and pushed. It took every bit of strength from the three combined to slide the massive chair to one side.

The music seemed a bit louder, without the chair in the way...sweet tones echoing muffled from beyond the door. The handle turned easily, but left a bit of soot upon the hand of whoever had reached for it. Silently, the door pulled open to reveal the dark chamber beyond.

The Master Bedroom

The music swelled as the door was opened, a bright crescendo of flute and violin. The spiraling posts of a large bed were visible in the light of the storm, flickers of lightning slicing in through the slatted balcony doors.

For a moment, an irregular silhouette of a standing person could be seen upon the balcony...lit by a flash that faded into brilliant after spots. Only a single glimpse, for soon after the lights overhead surged suddenly on. Power flooded to every bulb and socket, drowning out the light of the storm and obscuring the view of the balcony in a heartbeat.

As soon as the lights returned, the record player spun to a groaning halt. The needle lifted from the old record, and silence just as heavy as the vanished dark settled in the chamber.

Now visible, a tall mahogany armoire rested against the eastern wall...doors shut with a simple latch. A jewelry box rested on the surface of the vanity, next to a few bristle brushes and a pale white comb. Upon the table by the window, a glass vase rested...long unused, but still beautifully worked. Scattered candles in curl handled dishes, rich velvet cushions trimmed in beads, and assorted sepia photographs in silver frames dotted the other tables and ledges.

Most eye catching, however, was the towering grandfather clock in the far corner of the room, seemingly solid polished wood and brass, with a large glass face. The hands were frozen, and the time read:

Dimitri stepped around the chair once it was away from the door. He seemed to be the only one willing to grab the handle, which he did. It turned easily but he felt rub off on his hand. He sniffed it, "Soot," He said, and left it at that. He pushed the door open as far as he could, preparing for the inside.

His head was to the side of the doorway in case his teammates decided to look as well, which was strange for him, as he normally wouldn't care where they looked. Remember snuck into the picture by going between his legs. Both of them gave a small gasp at what they saw. The person on the balcony... Dimitri already had two things to give Nisha so the furniture didn't really matter. He'd have to tell Thanes and Sera about the stamp later, he noted in his mind.

Instead of directing himself towards the armoire, the jewelry box, or the tables, he made a purposeful walk towards the balcony, glancing at the time in the grandfather clock as he went. Remember loped ahead of him and when they reached the balcony, they were prepared to see, and meet, whoever was there.
