I'm torn. Of course I'll never watch the movie, I'm disgusted that it's called a musical. Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, THOSE are great Disney musicals. High School Musical is nothing but pop music and stereotypes. I'm sorry, but real musicals have songs that showcase how well the actors can sing, not how well the audio department can play with their equipment.
BUT our community theatre is putting on this show, so I might go see it then. The movie is an abomination (can't really take my opinion as gold though because I've only heard the soundtrack) but the show done by people who can act and sing, and by someone who can direct would be interesting.
I just hope they change some of the songs a little.

My argument? It antagonizes those true theater people, but completely shows of the captain of the basketball team and the school brain, who just happen to join a musical and be fantastic. D=< Evil drama teacher? Everyone who auditioned besides them automatically sucked? The only two talented folk be completely rich and stuck up, as well as corrupt in scheming? Yes.
