Adib has a valid point . . .
And as I stated before- the new look does not sit well with me overall. If anything, it is as if the older 'nostalgic' forms had their main outer panels removed, then tossed in a pile of magnetic debris. Their overall forms seem to be shattered, and angular to the point of being so busy that it is hard to discern anything. This applies to the look of all the movie's cybertronians, from the dominating Megatron down to the possibly mute Bumblebee.
Aspects of a Predator movie, poor paintjobs, even references to the Guyver . . . while all are interesting takes on this, I try to reserve judgement on the movie. Naturally there are aspects that all of us will dislike, but this is based on G1, not a literal interpretation. We have waited literally decades now for a live movie, and this is the first attempt at doing so. Like it or not, this is where it begins. Whether it is where all ends, is up to us. Should the movie flop, then no more will be made and the mistakes will not be corrected.

Man oh man. This is freak'in insane. I'm gonna have a panic attack. So much info. First off, I might me "okay" with Meg's new look if they justify it enough, but I won't be complete on my descion until I see the movie. Also, I hope it's too edgy for little kids, simply because the awesome G1 series was made for my generation, and it's time they re-did some of it's policies on how graphic and such it should be, because our generation is one it still belongs to in a way, and it should evolve with us, instead of staying for little kids. I mean, I guess little kida can watch to, I'm not their parents, but I lived TF as a kid, and as I grow older, so should the TFs. I dunno if I'm making sense, I'm trying to sound all speech-like, but I might just sound dumb....

Talon Prime Like it or not, this is where it begins. Whether it is where all ends, is up to us. Should the movie flop, then no more will be made and the mistakes will not be corrected. Not really. The only deciding factor as to whether sequels are made is the box office, and the fandom has absolutely zero influence there. The general moviegoing public will make or break this franchise, not us.

So the generations of fandom have absolutely no pull in the box office? neutral We are all broke bums that cannot buy tickets to the movie short of selling blood to get in? I think you are underestimating the power and/or numbers of the fandom that will be involved at the theaters.

I think you are vastly overestimating the numbers that the fandom represents. Let's give it a very generous estimate and say that every single registered account on all the major forums is a separate individual, including all the multi accounts and people on more than one forum. HOOKS @ The Allspark TRANSFANDOM BY THE NUMBERS Allspark - 3,854 Altspark - 4,055 2005 - 8,821 Don Murphy Boards - 4,493 IDW Boards - 1,055 Seibertron - 23,971 TFans/Tformers - 6,439 TFArchive - 6,989 Transfans - 2,457 Just from these boards alone, and assuming that each number represents a single individual and not a duplicate user or alt-ID, the total is 62,134. Now, let's see how that translates to dollars. I know there are several boards I missed, so let's round that number up to 70,000. If all of online fandom purchased a single $2.99 comic book, the total would be $209,300. If all of online fandom spent twenty dollars each on Transformers figures, the total would be $1,400,000. If all of online fandom spent a hundred dollars each on Transformers figures, the total would be $7,000,000. If all of online fandom purchased a ten dollar movie ticket for the upcoming Transformers feature film, the total would be $700,000.So let's say, hypothetically, that the film takes in an extremely modest $50,000,000. Now lets say that the 70,000 we've estimated for online fandom decide to completely avoid this movie. Let's be really generous and factor in another 30,000 for the Ain't It Cool News readership. Now lets be even more generous and factor in another half a million for people who would have gone to see it more than once. Going by these numbers, if the entirety of online fandom decided to completely avoid this movie, it still would have taken in $48,500,000. Sure, it was fandom that got this movie in the pipeline, but it would never even have seen a green light if somebody didn't think it was going to make money, and the fandom isn't big enough to make a material difference in the box office. It isn't a matter of "the fandom is poor".

I agree with what Mylian said, but I'm not gonna quote it because I don't feel like ti really. But yeah, I rarly go to the movies, and when I do it's only to see a movie I really want to go see, and a movie like the TF movie, I'll probably see at least twice if not more in theatres. I'll be like, going with someone for my first time, then I'll wanna show another friend who hasn't seen it, then I'll do the same with a 3rd friend. Like, I think I've seen X-Men 3 twice in theatres. With ly loyalty the way it is towards TF, 3 times won't be a surprise.....

kenshiro28 Maybe....maybe it's just his alt-mode before he takes on an Earth mode? crying Alas no, there have been some prelim drawings floating around of Prime and some of the others too and they are going for very complicated very organic looking robot modes. Which I dont think will go over well with the fan groups Oh a good site for news is http://www.jalopnik.com/Its mostly a car website but the writers love Transformers and tend to have alot of the leaked photos and things on there so check in now and then!

I love the point made in that thread about how the toys might be too complex for kids. The irony of having toys made from the film might not be able transform is not lost on me. Part of the reason I am so negative about the newer look is the 'overcomplexity' of the cybertronian lifeform. Should this be seen in any way to be product placement- how can you honestly expect kids to be able to transform that??? confused

I dunno, it could just be pipe dreams or something, but I do agree there's no way in the pit a child could transform something that complex. Come-on, it'd probably take even me a half-hour :XP: ...
I must also admit, in his normal robot form, the red and blue looks good on him, but it looks really tacky in his alt mode stare .... I know the Truck's paint job makes it easy for red and blue (his trademark colors) to be dispersed in a good way in his normal form, but it still doesn't excuse the ugliness of his alt-form....

All the bots in the movie is very "spikey" ... does anyone know the reason behind it? In my opinion, the spikes are nice in limited amounts but from those images even their heads are very pointy which removes from the whole look.
I think they aren't going after toys this time; maybe models? I don't think you can transform something like that in a toy... look at all those parts on Prime @_@

We've seen pictures of the helicopter in both toy and movie forms, he seems to translate quite well into a toy. And we've seen only the toy form of Starscream. Hasbro has been involved in the design process from the beginning to make sure they can be made into toys. So when you look at Prime and Bumblebee, realize that somebody has been watching over Bay's shoulders the whole time to make sure they have workable toy transformations.
If you look at the helicopter, though, a lot of what people are complaining about seems to be filtered out when it gets to toy stage. The skeletal exposure and splintered kibble. I think the toys will be more accepted by the fandom than the movie designs have been so far.

For those that don't know, the movie is having a contest to make Prime say a dialogue that you want him to. 120 Characters max. For details go to the movie website and all is revealed smile
If you want go fast because the contest ends soon. You get prizes if you win. mrgreen
