I can't run away or hide now...Be a man, Veshengo...No need to be shy... Breathing deeply, Veshengo stepped forward and made himself more visible. "I'm...sorry about that..." He raised his hand, to which Pani moved down to, then looked at his banya. "I'm not...quite sure...what he meant by that." He looked up from Pani to smile slightly in Marissa's direction, "Oh...sorry...I'm Veshengo..." He extended his free hand out to Marissa and Caroline.

Veshengo.
When Marissa had reminded herself to move again, she smiled and extended her hand. "I'm...Marissa," she said softly. She let the handshake linger a little, before dropping her arm and remembering her manners. "Oh!" she cried, "I-I never got a chance to thank you for the necklace," she said, looking down at it fondly. "It's absolutely beautiful," she added. "Thank you," she said again.
Kale looked into the concerned face of Rojiza. His expression changed to match hers, as he wondered what was wrong. He tugged at her shirt. "Ah?"

"Marissa..." He said her name slow & sweet, then dropped his hand. "It looks lovely on you...The golden rose suits you." He blushed and then bowed his head politely to Caroline before Pani went back to his shoulder, allowing Veshengo to shove both hands into his pockets. "If I recall...did you not used to have a young fox cub?...Is that him now?" He gestured to Kale and then looked back at her.
[sorry for not paying too much attention to caro, mene, vesh has a one track mind...*marissa,marissa,marissa*...lol
Marissa and Veshengo just barely, briefly met during the kidnapping adventure, as a reminder. He was following the women and helped out.]

Marissa was surprised to find that he recalled. "Why, yes," she said, "That's him. His name is Kale." She looked fondly at her son, then said, "You... remember that?"
Kale bit his smashed silver coin absently.

Veshengo nodded, "Oh, yes...I have a keen memory, always have, I guess..." He shrugged and smiled shyly, then looked down next to her, "Um, may I sit down...next to you?"

Marissa blushed unreasonably. "Um, of course," she muttered. She hated to admit it, but she'd been waiting for that question. Unconciously, she bit her lip. "So, Veshengo, I've only seen you about the caravan once or twice; but I have seen you nonetheless," she said. "What is your calling here?" she added, trying to look into his face. It was hard to keep eye contact without skirting her gaze.

Veshengo took a seat and shifted around a bit, his heartbeat picking up speed. Listening to her question, he shrugged a bit and bit his lip, "Well...my calling?...That's a bit of a complicated question to answer. I guess you could say I'm the bodyguard of the caravan...though I've not done a very good job." He lowered his head and heaved a loud sigh, shaking his head. Pani squeaked and flapped his wings, causing Vesh to lift his head again to look at Marissa again.

She looked puzzled. "Why not?" she asked. "I bet you're doing a fine job. We've had no catastrophies yet, so you must be doing something right." She laughed a little. "Of course, we've had our fair share of trouble, but what the meij brings, the meij brings, and there's nothing to be done about that." She sighed, her mind returning to those of the prophecies. "Your banya...do you have any idea what it could have meant? It mentioned fire. Kale is a fire element," she told him, recalling how banya fortunes often arced across the lines of their guardians.

"I've really no clue what Pani meant...I'm not a guardian of a fortunette, so it couldn't possibly be meant for someone in my care." And beside, I am of neither fire nor wood element, and she isn't a Fortunette. So the prophecy means nothing for Marissa and I. He glanced at Pani and then down at Kale, "It's seems strange though, that a banya would predict something for someone else...does that happen often? I don't honestly know much about these birds."

Marissa shook her head. "That's the problem," she murmured, "It doesn't happen." She look at Vesh. "What did it say again? 'This firey love...oh loves she fire..." she trailed off, cupping her chin in her hand and letting the flames of the fire dance across the contours of her contemplative face.

Veshengo nodded and repeated the birds words slowly and quietly along with Marissa. He soon became mesmirized by the fire-lit beauty of her face, wanting desperately to take her into his arms and kiss her. A squack from Pani soon broke his gaze and he became shy, "I...I...must be off...sorry...I'll see you...another time...Marissa..." He stood up and bowed to her, then made a speedy exit.

Marissa was startled by his sudden turn to leave. Before she could stop herself, she found herself saying, "No, don't go..!" But then added hastily, "We've still much to figure out." But when he dissapeared, she sighed and turned away, lost as she had been before. She made a sideways glance at Caroline and smiled apologetically. Glancing the other direction at Kale, her heart felt sick with worry, and yet empowered with hope.

|Lol, Maeko, eesokay, though Caroline will undoubtedly think snarky remarks in his direction. xDD|
"Pleased t'be makin' yer acquaintance, sir," Caroline had said before sinking out of the conversation, but not out of earshot. Bit of a one-track mind there, eh laddie? she thinks, cocking an eyebrow as their fireside conference progresses. His affection is as obvious as he is mysterious. She glances quickly over to where Rojiza is, and is amused to find her a temporary nursemaid. She's surprised that wee Ro has the patience for all those tots, but keeps her comments to herself.
Rojiza, not wishing to upset Kale, changes her expression to one of amusement and joy. She wriggles her nose on his forehead while making a bzzt! noise with her lips. She glances at both Vanna and Amkia, making sure they're both safe. She also casts a warning gaze at Kala, assuring herself of the distance between her and her brother, who seems terrified of her.

Gwynna had been in her own wagon, quietly playing a little game with Nusa, when the sound of several voices and the crackling of a fire reached her ears. Nusa sat up on her hind feet, intrigued.
"Well, shall we go out and investigate then?" Gwynna asked her little daughter with a laugh. A slight chirrr from Nusa answered her question.
The red panda climbed Gwynna's arm carefully and settled on her shoulder, little clawed paws winding into the woman's wavy hair. Gwynna winced and shifted Nusa's weight. Finally situated, the pair exited the wagon and made their way over to the fire, just in time to see Veshengo hurry off.
Gwynna raised a brow and sat on a log, lifting Nusa down into her lap. "So," she asked the group at large, "How's the evening going?"

"Aye, the evening's a bonny one," comments Caroline idly. "Just discussin' the fortunes of our bairns. Seems the birds have been talkative lately," she says. Nodding to herself she adds. "Aye, the Meij has something in store for our bittie caravan."
