In my opinion, it depends on how you look at it.

I feel bad for Kenshin.. he was just sitting around at the graveyard trying to comemorate his family or something.. and some guy just comes up and like forces him to change his name from Shinta to Kenshin... o_O;

That's pretty bad...x_x;

"Tell me your name?"
"Shinta."
"A child's name. Too soft for a swordsman, as of today you are Kenshin."
"Ken-shin."
"I have found a pupil, consider yourself fortunate..."

I agree, his teacher is annoying and totally mean

his teacher isn't that bad sweatdrop

he took in a kid he had just met, was going to bury a bunch of people he didn't know, not to mention saved kenshin/shinta's life

I agree 100% with Imbar. Master Hiko was actually a pretty creative character in the Kenshin series. He is a character that con't exactly be called or labeled a sertain category due to the fact that it would contradict his character at the same time. Let me explain. Lets say for now that Master Hiko is a cold man. He killed people mercilesly from bandits to his own master. But if you think about it, Master Hiko is also an incredibly kind and compassionate person for saving a child and putting a roof over his head. Not only that, but he gave Kenshin the power to protect himself and those who Kenshin cared about. So no matter how you look at it, Master Hiko as a character is very much like a double edged sword. Neither side is good yet neither side is bad. He just is.

The part where he killed mercilesly-> he was young then and young people screw up a lot. I mean Kenshin himself does the same thing up until he meets Tomoe, even then he doesn't stop all that much until she dies. As for his master, my grandfather told me that depending on the master, many considered it a great honour to die by a pupil's hand! It showed that the master had taught his pupil well. And that the pupil was ready for whatever trials were to come without the aid of his master. Though it varies depending on the principles of the style and dojo.

It was only till later that things changed so that all the pupil had to do was beat him in a sparring match.

Lucky for my Grandpa lol

Ah! Very true Luci. But in everyday mind set I still think most people wouldn't understand that it was an honor without knowing a bit about the martial arts world and a bit of East Asian History. But yeah. Lucky Grandpa.

I miss Tomoe. Such a sad, beautiful woman. Drives guys crazy yah know! Too sad and tragic was her death. If only She couldah stayed alive and beared Kenshin's child. I wonder what that would look like. Then again, Kenshin would probably be the one dead because he would still be fighting.

I still haven't seen Samuri X....I'm through the first 5 books in the manga...

Really? Thats actually a good thing. The manga is actually twice as detailed than the show. As for Samurai X, don't sweat it. I haven't seen all the episodes of Ruroken (I know exactly waht happens though) but you can wait to see Samurai X. It doesn't really matter if you see it before or after the shw or manga (but I suggest after. You'll understand better that way and you also get to feel the full aspect of the OVA).

I really like the show. I found it humor, action packed, and of course drama. I love it so much, that I want to see it again.

Its sortah weird how the manga is super violent, the anime is very comedic, the movie.... wel it had Kenshin in it.... and the OVA was a masterpeice of theatrical work which should be made into a live action drama.

I can't watch the series. It feels like Samurai X is being made a joke. Even though I know that the series came first. Seeing the dark Kenshin from the OVA become that scrawny thing with big eyes that go into circles and says tht annoying word oro all the time. it depresses me.

Samurai X is awsome in my eyes. The whole thing can be love it or hate it. Like any other series, if you look to make fun of a series it will become funny. But if you look at what lives the characters are living (excluding the cliches) you can grow to like them. Everyone has a dark past and keep it locked inside, whether it is big or small, but the characters in Samurai X let everyone know and just keep walking. I'm just babbling, just call it the ramblings of an old man.

Your not rambling. sweatdrop If thats rambling than I'm a stuttering cow (take a look at my .hack board here. That thing was lengthy).

And you say I'm too philosophical, look at you. That was pretty good mon ami.

Wow ADK. I thought you were like old compared to me, but really, there's only one year difference!

I know this was random, but the thing he said the ramblings of an old man, it made me wonder. You guys are only a year, well 2 in RomancerX's case lol
