Padding quietly from the stretch of jungle the Mistweavers inhabited, Kitambi was almost weak with fatigue, having been on the move for far longer than he had ever been before. He longed for crystal waters, sparkling in the sunlight and rippling with a cool breeze. He wanted to be surrounded by the small animals that inhabited the trees, ripe for the catch, and succulent to the taste. All in all, he longed for sustinence of any kind.
Panting, the cub eyed the trees in this strange place, intrigued. At last, his real adventures could begin! He could be the brave adventurer extraordinaire he already boasted of being.

Timon, catching the scent of the cub, gasped and leapt for cover. A predator! And here in the jungle, too! Where could a meercat be safe nowadays?!
Well, certainly not in his own home. That had just been proven.
Quietly, Timon crept up a tree, scaling a branch high-up so he could spot Kitambi.

The dark blotch upon the tree stretched, a pink tongue lolling out of what must have been the mouth. Her eyes glowed softly in the flickering moonlight as she opened them, glancing about the darkness that fell upon her. Definately time to wake up... As if on cue, Tamani's stomach growled, a soft rumble against the tree branch she lay upon. It was time to snag something to eat, by her internal clock.
Propping herself up to a sitting position, the young black leopardess glanced down upon the world below her. Sharp eyes honed in on bugs as they crawled across the greenery on the jungle floor. Others buzzed around her, the jungle itself alive and teeming with nocturnal life. Raising her hindquarters slightly, Tamani kicked off the branch, her front paws alighting upon the upright tree trunk for only a moment before her back paws caught up, only to leave the tree trunk in a leap to the ground. She landed lightly, hardly a sound arising from her paws as she padded towards the smell of water. A small pool of it resided around here, where rain water had collected in a depression in the ground. Mysteriously it hadn't dried up yet, and therefore made for a good drinking spot.
Dark as the shadows she walked in, Tamani snuck up upon the pool, watchful eyes making sure nothing was close. She'd learned quickly that the jungle wasn't a forgiving place. If she couldn't fend for herself, and protect herself, who would?

Tael crept along the groung quietly, looking around for any small rodents that she could eat for dinner. Or bugs. Gou didn't like bugs, but Tael thought they tasted just fine... she shook her head a little to clear her head from the wandering thoughts. She knew Gou was near somewhere, since her caretaker had said that she would be watching this hunt... But other than that, Tael couldn't hear Gou anywhere. Breathing out a noiseless sigh, Tael darted her eyes around, looking for edible prey. There! A couple of plump rodents were munching on the grass nearby, and hadn't even seen her orange coat. Tael was lucky today. She crouched down lower and got ready to pounce.
Three.
Two.
One...
Tael lept, and pounced on two of the rodents. She tried to grab for the third one, but it dashed away before she could catch it. Sighing she put the poor things out of their misery and lay down, waiting for Gou.
Time to start counting how many bugs are on that tree...

Constitution weak despite his bragging, once Kitambi caught the fresh scent of water, his paws were powerless but to follow, his mind blank of all other thoughts but his parched throat and dry tongue. Moving like a zombie the cub was swift, a small watering hole ahead of him commanding him like a puppet. Emerging from the foliage to spot the sparkling liquid, rippling surface spotted with clear light filtering through the green canopy far above the leopard's head, Kitambi's eyes almost popped with pleasure. Water! Springing forward with great alacrity, the cub almost fell headlong into the clear liquid as he lapped at it with little grace.

Tamani blinked, pulling herself up short as she heard light splashing nearby. Someone was at her pool. Glowering slightly, she crouched down, hugging the ground with her belly, one paw stretching out in front of her, only to pull her body along, then the next paw struck out to do the same. Dark as night, it was hard to see her during the day, not to mention how it would be at night, when the darkness ran free and wild across the land. Rounded ears flicked upwards, catching the sounds that eminated from her pool. Her pool. A few more crawling steps later, and Tamani was able to peek out of the bushes, catching sight of the offender for the first time. Another cub. Well, there went the jungle alright. Just when you thought you had everything to yourself, someone had to go and move right in and take it from you. But this wouldn't stop Tamani. Licking her lips, the black leopardling crept around the pool, staying to the bushes that surrounded Kitambi, aiming herself towards him, but staying far enough away that she wouldn't be detected. Although with the manners he was exhibiting, how could she be noticed? He was too noisy.
It only took a few more steps until she was behind Kitambi. From her vantage point, she paused, one paw lifted in the air, having been in the process of taking a step. Tamani had been careless. A twig had snapped under a delicate paw. Slowly she lowered herself to the ground, waiting to see if he would hear it or not....

Greedily lapping at the crisp water until his parched throat was soothed, Kitambi caught the sound of something behind him. Though he could not make out the exact location or nature due to his own noise, the cub definitely heard something, and was put on his guard. Perhaps one of the dragons he was sworn to slay had come to meet him while he was young and thirsty, singling him out for roast leopard. Spinning around to meet the foe with a mouth full of water, the cub sloshed angrily at the bushes. He was dangerous, dammit!

So he had heard... Tamani grinned as she kept low, far enough behind him still that she wouln't be found. She was patient, she could wait. The leopardling watched the hilarity of Kitambi as he swung around, looking particularly "dashing" as he seemed to be looking for her. Too bad he wouldn't find her....until it was too late. Tamani flicked an ear lazily, her eyes riveted to the leopard in front of her. Looked like she had competition, but she would soon take care of that. Blackened lips parted to reveal pearly white fangs, a large grin adorning her face. Yes, this would be quite fun....

Not yet able to gulp down the liquid amassed in his cheeks, Kitambi continued sloshing, attempting to look threatening. The true hilarity did not start, however, until he attempted to growl. The noise bubbled through the crystalline water, gurgling and bubbling at a high pitch until the cub finally ceased the ridiculous noise, prowling silently, eyes intent on the still foliage, save for the muted wind.

Tamani nearly exposed herself as she stifled a giggle. Lord knew this boy needed help. Serious help. But she managed to stop herself, still waiting for him to lose interest and turn back to the water hole. Then she'd make her move. The tip of her tail twitched against the ground, rhythmically shifting back and forth as she patiently awaited the moment she could scare this poor soul out of his spots.
As she waited, a bug began to take a trek across her front paws. Daintily, she twisted a paw and let it drop back to the ground, then slowly began to shove it away. The leopardling disdained bugs. They just weren't her most favorite creatures in her jungle. Granted, they were all around, but that didn't mean they had to crawl over her in order to get to the other side, so to speak. Tamani just wouldn't allow it. And just when she thought she'd gotten rid of the stag beetle, it came back, insisting upon crawling across her paws to get at whatever was more interesting there. She frowned and flicked the bug away again. And yet again it insisted. She mentally grumbled. Insolent bug.

In a flash, Timon darted across the branches, snatching the stag beetle from Tamani's paws and leaping to a safe branch a few feet away. Almost tauntingly, he waved the beetle around, then laughed aloud and swallowed it whole. With that, he turned, his tail flicking once before he leapt away.
And the dance with danger began! Of course, Timon didn't care. Sure, they were predators, but cubs at that! Any moment now, Pumbaa would come charging through the foliage and protect him.
Right?
........right?!
And, even if he died, he would die with a full stomach. No meercat could say that it was a life wasted. xD

Tamani's reflexes were better than to be expected. She'd seen the creature out of the corner of her eye, felt it as it whooshed past. By the time the meercat had left her feet, Tamani's snow white teeth were bared. Pushing up with her hind end while she shoved herself to the side with her front paws, her body kind of looking like a horseshoe in a way for only a moment, she took off like a shot after the offending creature. Her jaws snapped upon the air, barely missing Timon's tail. She snarled softly, backing up into a crouch just under him.
"Strange creature, who are you to dare lurk in my jungle, let alone touch me?" The black leopardess' voice held no childish laughter, only dripping with seething hate and disdain for whatever it is that had wandered into the wrong place at the wrong time. For the time being, she'd forgotten Kitambi. He wasn't much of a threat anyway, or at least she was certain he wasn't a threat. Her eyes glowed in contempt as she glanced from the meercat to the tree he stood in, judging how many jumps it would take to get up to where he was. And just as she was gauging the distance, he seemed to disappear. Isolent wretch! Well, she'd find and deal with him later. He could run, but he couldn't hide forever. She'd find him eventually and make him a tasty morsel. Grumbling, she turned around, stalking back towards her pool of crystal clear water.
((I'm pretty careful about keeping from power gaming, as I call it, but if anyone ever feels that I do anything like that, especially under Tamani, as she does have a more agressive demeanor, please let me know XD))

"YOUR jungle, aye?" Timon called out, from what seemed like a safe position. But, in reality, he had turned and snuck onto the branch above Tamani. Quickly plucking a juicy worm from it's place on a leaf, he aimed... Then dropped it, cackling loudly as it fell towards her head. With an innocent whistle, he again darted off, though this time in the opposite direction. Hah, that'd teach HER to go off claiming large areas of land like that! Especially when those areas belonged to himself and Pumbaa. 3nodding

Feline nerves snapping at the sudden explosion of noise, Kitambi gulped the excess of water in his jaws painfully, attempting not to choke. A threat, a threat was about, and it rattled him. Imaginary dragons and knights were one thing, but living, breathing creatures? They were quite another. As his knees attempted to shake, his teeth to chatter, and his mind to escape, the cub refused all these urges, though he did, in truth, back up a few steps. He was a brave adventurer, off to slay dragons! No jungle beast would scare him. Still, when he at last spoke, it was in a wavering voice, unsure of his resolution. "Who goes there?"

Tamani glared at the meercat after being pelted with the worm. Though she continued to wallk towards her crystal clear pool, she wasn't necessarily watching where she was going. Stupid insolent creature. Messing around, trying to tick me off... Most definately she would get him back. A nice juicy tasty snack he would become. But so engrossed with glaring in the direction that the meercat disappeared into, that she almost didn't hear the voice from behind her...er in front of her although it did sound like behind her with her neck craned back. Turning her head to face the forgotten body that the voice belonged to, Tamani didn't expect to be nose to nose with Kitambi. The black leopardess stopped up short, as surprised of him as she could only imagine he was of her.
However, it wasn't in her nature to stay surprised for long. Sidling up alongside of the other leopard, she gave Kitambi a real coy look. "What are yooooouuu doing in a place like this? It isn't exactly all that....forgiving here...If you don't know your way, you could run into big trouble." She battered her eyelashes for effect. Running the tip of her tail underside of Kitambi's chin, Tamani ducked under his own, rubbing her shoulder up against his other side. Man, was she a piece of work. Grumpy when it suited her, and as sly and coy as a vixen when she needed to be. Could someone say, forked tongue? Her voice held a hint of honey as she continued to speak to him. "Then too, a stroooong....handsome guy like you would know all about the dangers found within the jungle, wouldn't you?" The darkened cub smiled sweetly at Kitambi before breaking away and sauntering over to her pool of sweet water. Sometimes she even surprised herself at how well she could pull such an act off.
