The Night Rune was actually a pretty good guess, in my opinion. Here's just a little "nudge". The "bear" is the clue.

Maybe I should refraise myself. The "bear" is a character that helps to point out this character's identity. You have to think a lot because this character is pretty old. And when I mean by "old" it doesn't necessarily mean by age. Hopefully this is enough to point you in the right direction.
