Mary Jane laughed at the incident and also loudly yelled, "I thank the Opera Ghost for such a blessing!" Mary Jane then turned to Bella, "Thanks for the help Bella, and it was La Carlotta's wine." Mary Jane agreed with Desiree's suggestion of Christine becoming the new prima donna. "You'd be perfect at it! I have faith in that instructor of yours, Christine. Have you ever seen him though? A mysterious man needs to have some face, and I hope a handsome one! Perhaps he could give me a lesson or two, if you follow~!" Mary Jane said with a smirk and a wink.

It was hard to decide whether he felt flattered or furious at the girls' commets about him. They spoke of the Opera Ghost and Christine's 'mysterious' instructor happily unaware that they were both one in the same. "Yes," he whispered bitterly as he lightly touched the masked side of his face. "Her instructor certainly has some face." His earlier good mood evaporated almost instantly.
It was amazing what a few ill-considered comments could do, and for a moment he considered looking for something to drop on Mary Jane as well. The girl really needed to learn when to keep her mouth shut. Every time she opened it she seemed to make a proper a** out of herself whether she realized it or not.
Balling his hands into fists, he resisted the urge to cause anymore chaos. Everything was going as he had wanted. He could not ruin it just to reprimand some unthinking ballerina for unknowingly throwing salt in some very old but still very open wounds.
((Trackstar does intend to play Carlotta, but she won't be able join as for a little while yet. There is still one person who signed up *cough*Kalea_1*cough* who has yet to show up or offer any reason for not posting.))

I find that.. you really think I could actually take over as a diva here?" She shrugged, "I haven't seen him.. he hasn't revealed himself fully to me yet.. and Mary Jane!" She said with a red tint across her cheeks, "You speak perversely.." She chuckled. She shook her head, "Anyway, I will sing ONLY if Madame Giry AND the managers will allow me. ONLY IF! Lets not forget my instructor." She looked to Madame Giry, then to the managers. Andre and Firmin grumbled, "A full house, Andre. We shall have to refund a full house!" Firmin stated to his fellow manager, a sign of anger and a what appeared to be vein popping slightly in his right temple.

~ Bella ~
The young woman felt a surge of gratitude towards whoever had deigned to drop something on Carlotta's head. That singing had gotten VERY painful to her ears. Normally, she was very wary of the mysterious Opera Ghost, but today she briefly wished she could thank him somehow.
She giggled at Mary Jane's words, and slipped out to pick up the wine and bring it back. "Carlotta's you say? Well, it'd be a shame to waste it, though I am a little uncertain about sharing a bottle with that woman. I might start shrieking like her," Bella whispered at the other young woman.
Then she turned to Christine. "Oh, please don't try that modest act on us," she said with a smile. "I've heard you singing by yourself once or twice, when you thought the rest of us were too busy practicing our dance steps! You've got a lovely voice. And what would your instructor have to do with you singing Carlotta's part? Wouldn't they be pleased?" she added, puzzled. "I thought you could sing soprano..."

You're mean to spy on me like that!" She laughed, "I do thank you though for your compliment. My instructor.. I have not a clue." She shrugged, "Anycase, I can sing soprano, Bella, I can sing soprano. I'm not silly like that. I promise that I can." She laughed again, "Just nervous if the managers and Madame Giry would allow me to sing.. I mean.. its not like I haven't sang for people before.. but.. not important persons such as them.. and many at the gala tonight."

~Monsieur Reyer~
Well, that was it. It was all over. They had no lead singer, and the new managers obviously had no idea how to fix this, either. And naturally, as the director hastily told said managers, there was no understudy for La Carlotta.
"And no, I don't know if she'll be coming back. Sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn't, Messieurs!" he told them, turning on his heel and heading towards his music stand.
I give up. I've worked here for decades, and I am not going to let my musical career end on a sour note such as this! I'm going with Monsieur Lefevre to Australia. With any luck I can become a teacher there or something. But I refuse to stay here and be humiliated by La Carlotta's disappearance!

((Sorry for taking so long. I had this post started about an hour ago, then I had to leave. I'm back now, though))
The curtain really fell on Carlotta's performance. She'd heard of rough critics, but to have one of them have a backdrop knock her over... well that was a bit extreme. Pointedly, she raised her brows and looked up as if trying to see through the darkness of the catwaks above to glare at the culprit. Yes, she was grateful the cow had stopped her singing, but someone else could've very well gotten hurt! "Actions speak louder than words with him, I suppose." She breathed, shaking her head. The envelope had yet to be opened, and she took this opportunity while everyone was bothering with Carlotta's fit to do so. In his neat handwriting he had put the instructions of how things were to be run, and what was due as payment. She'd heard these new managers had the infamous Viscount of the Chagny line as their patron, and while there would be a fit over the amount (there always was) it would stand as the Opera Ghost's orders. Really, Erik couldn't be anything less than a spook. She found it rather degrading that he had lowered his genius to the standards of a ghost. That wasn't what she had brought him here for! Nonetheless, she kept her mouth shut and straightened the papers the envelope had been keeping. Making her way gracefully across the stage just as La Carlotta herself stormed off, saying she was trully leaving thise time. Hah, that was a joke. That woman could not stay away from the stage for long. Antoinette gave a glance toward the new managers and Reyer as they fretted over the performance tonight. Well, this situation could only get worse. This was as good a time as any to bring up Erik. "Messieurs," She said, trying to catch their attention. When they went on about refunds, she again sighed. Even though she was trying to get the managers' attention, she heard Reyer's thought about La Carlotta's decisiveness on whether or not she would return. "You think so?" She quipped quickly to the director before turning back to the two men she'd been trying to address. "I have a message, sirs, from the Opera Ghost himself."

"Mary Jane, hold your tounge! We don not want to upset him anymore than we have. I do not count on another mishap to happen Mary Jane, yet you speak boldly, and only as boldly as a fool! I only speak the truth in opinions, though you must learn to be serious, not everything is meant for play! The next accident could be your casualty!" Desiree said, shooting a glare. She was humble when it came to the Opera Ghost, and she did not want to be his next vicitm of a accident. "Christine, take the oprotunity. I know you will do well!" Desiree said, but then she saw Mme. Giry with the envolpe, she silenced. She knew very well who it was from.

Firmin looked at Madame Giry, "Oh god in heaven you are all obsessed!" He stated with a matter-of-factly tone. Andre looked to him, shaking his head. He didn't think they were, but he would have to hold his tongue. "Though if you will, Madame Giry, continue." Andre stated, beckoning Madame Giry to continue.
Christine looked at the envelope, her eyes glued to it before trailing to Madame Giry's eyes. It had to be something important, very, very important. She knew, she had this little intuition thing going on. She didn't respond to Desiree, she wasn't about to divert her attention from something that was clearly more important than her chorus-girl career.

~Bella~
The young dancer had been about to suggest that they have a little gathering later- with the wine as the reason- but fell silent when Madame Giry had mentioned a note from the Opera Ghost.
So it was the Ghost, she thought. I am very thankful that he agrees with us about La Carlotta's singing.
She turned to speak with Christine, but her attention was captured when she actually saw the letter Madame Giry had.
I wonder what Monsieur Ghost has to say to the new managers. Surely he isn't just going to be greeting them, she thought. For she had never heard of the Phantom simply welcoming people into his domain. It just... wasn't something a Ghost did.

Madame Giry looked at Firmin, who shouted at her as if she was the reason the Italian Diva had quit for the evening. However, her temper was brushed aside as his partner Andre bid the woman continue. She looked down at the note in her hand as if she were a royal messenger about to make an announcement to the commonfolk. "He welcomes you to his Opera house." She started slowly, skipping over the delicately written details that summed up his welcome. "He hopes you had a good trip here. Also, he reminds you to look over the documents of the House, and that his salary is past due." Her eyes finished skimming the note and she looked up at the men. They were both clearly taller than she was, Firmin being just a bit rounder than Lefevre was. Firmin was obviously the mouth in the relationship as Andre was the more intelligent one. She couldn't say either were the brains of the operation, since they seemed to share one. And it wasn't very big. "Also, I must point out that he has made it clear with the old manager and the box office that Box Five is to be restricted from being sold. He asks that you leave it empty, for his use." If they didn't, well, she was Erik's boxkeeper as well. She would know it and so would he. Antoinette would give the warning and Erik would give the punishment. Fine team they made when it came to business. Calmly she stood, her back straight despite it aching and her chin up high in a defiant manner. Like this, she awaited the managers' reply to Erik's demands. Somehow she knew this would start something...

Firmin and Andre listened to Madame Giry as she explained every last instruction, with but two interuptions. Firmin stared at her before glaring at the papers, "HIS Opera house?!" He stepped towards Madame Giry while she continued reading off the list, with Andre trying to calm Firmin down. "Firmin! Calm down!" Andre took the note, "HIS SALARY?!"
Christine watched this display, an eyebrow raised. "...Well, we -know- one manager can keep his head on well.. and one just needs an attitude adjustment." She mumbled under her breath, nibbling softly at her lowerlip.

Yes, my opera house. It would be wise of you to learn that as quickly as you can, thought Erik as he calmly watched one of the new managers--he believed it was the one named Firmin-- turn bright red with anger and indignation. He would have to learn to reign in his temper a bit better before it got him into trouble.
The other one balked only at the mention of the salary. Of course there was to be a salary. Ghosts weren't cheap to keep around, and a good ghost was certainly hard to come by these days. He would need to stick around until he was certain of their decision. If they decided favorably there would be no more trouble between them, but if they decided to ignore his requests there would be hell to pay. Erik did not like being denied the few things he asked for, and really it wasn't much when one considered all of the things he could ask for.

She wasn't in the least surprised by their show of shock. In fact, she had expected them to throw threats at her in order to get information on the 'Opera Ghost'. In a way, it was rather amusing to watch them groan and grumble over the letter. "But of course," She said calmly, making a gesture with her hand to emphasize her words, "he expects twenty thousand francs a month. I trust you can afford more with the Vicomte as your patron." She added with an air of amusement. Like Erik, she often found it fun to make people squirm with information from the 'ghost' himself. Only she could keep a poker face when he had to laugh aloud. Sometimes even Antoinette questioned Erik's expensive request for money, but then again, it wasn't cheap living five cellars below the Opera House. He needed to eat like everyone else, and by the way he dressed, had expensive taste in clothing and everything he owned. Even his mask was finely made. "I suppose this doesn't pose a problem for you, messieurs? The requests are quite simple, and M. Lefevre paid his salary without fuss each month. I trust you'll do the same." 'See, Erik? I'm still having to help you out. I should just call myself your secretary, you know.' She thought with a mental shrug of indifference. Madame Giry loved Erik like a brother, but the man was a bit touched in the head.

"..I, Madame Giry, was hoping to make THAT announcement of the Vicomte as our Patron, TONIGHT when he was to join us for the gala. And again, Andre, as I said, we shall have to refund a full house!" He tore at the note he had took to scan it over and he frowned heavily. Andre raised an eyebrow, "..I understand, but in God's name! Relax!" Firmin nodded, "Fine, fine." He frowned and looked to Madame Giry. "There has to be at least SOMEONE who will be able to sing in Carlotta's place." Andre stated boldly, hoping that this was true.
