Kadaj closed his eyes and held up his hand, palm facing out. Concentrating, he attempted to call two creepers. He already knew he could summon one. Next step was multiple Creepers.

As he focused, he thought he felt a slight rumble in the ground. Now, with any luck, the Creepers would have appeared out of the ground before him. But, rather than openign his eyes, he simply called out to Demyx.

"Okay, somethign happened, miond telling me exactly what? I'd rather not open my eyes and break concentration just in case I need to do soem quick un-summoning!"

"Err..."

Demyx blinked, looking around the still empty backyard.

"There was a rumble....but I don't see anything boss."

"Just WHAT the hell is going on out here?"

In the doorway stood a white coated fox boy, arms crossed over his chest as he glared out at the other two.

"Demyx I can't leave you alone for five minutes without you causing some trouble can I? And who is this lamer friend of yours?"

The blonde catboy gave a startled squeak, quickly diving under the table he had been crouched on mere moments before.

"I wasn't causing any trouble!!!"

Kadaj sighed and opened his eyes to stare arrogantly at the newcomer. He noted Demyx diving under the table and narrowed his eyes even more. No one was allowed to mess with his minion but Kadaj himself! Schooling his voice into a cool, distant tone, he spoke.

"Best watch who you choose to call names, friend. Dem is assisting me with some experiments. Now why not be a good little boy and head back inside before something... unfortunate happens, hmm?"

He ducked to help pull Demyx from under the table and smiled as he heard the Creeper beginning to growl quietly.

"Well, Dem," he murmured, pitching his voice so only Demyx would hear, "looks like your pet doesn't like that guy any more than I do... Would you be at all adverse to me running a distraction so we can go find a quieter place to practice?"

The blonde whined slightly as he was pulled out, struggling desperately to cling to anything to keep himself under the table.

"N-no! D-don't! You'll just upset him...he's not fun when he's angry..."

Demyx gave a quick glance to the fox boy before looking back to Kadaj.

"Then again...there's hardly a time he isn't angry..."

"Was that a threat?"

The fox snarled, arms unfolding to form balled up fists at his sides.

"You best watch who you threaten 'pal'...the disciplinary committee doesn't take so kindly to threats from uppity little punks!"

Demyx whined, immediately using his boss as wall between himself and Seifer.

"He's crazy! He thinks he can tell everyone how to behave..."

Kadaj gave Demyx a pat on the head before straightening up and fully facing the fox boy.

"Disciplinary Committee? You?" Kadaj laughed outright, making sure to keep enough of an insolent snigger in his voice. If this kid was going to go around with that kind of an attitude, he was going to get some back in spades! "Last I checked, a Committee consisted of more than just one delusional brat!"

He turned back to Demyx and sought again to drag his minion out and muttering all the while.

"I'm not particularly fun when I get angry either... And unlike Mr. Discipline there, I can summon up Creepers.... I'm likely better at sword play and I have Jenova's memetic legacy racing through my veins. Now get out!"

Through his annoyance, he was aware of the earth behind him making a most satisfactory cracking noise. Then he heard the low bass rumble of an adult Creeper snarling.

"Wellwellwell... Whatdyaknow... It worked this time."

"And just how do you know there isn't more than one? Perhaps they aren't here right now, duh?"

The fox boy snarled, watching the other two closely.

Demyx meanwhile was panicing. On one hand he had Seifer to turn to, who treated him like an abused little brother. On the other hand he had Kadaj, whom he liked to be around but who seemed to be growing rather...angry. When he thought about it, he'd rather face Seifer's wrath than Kadaj's, and to keep Kadaj happy he had to follow orders. So, despite how much he wanted to hide, the blonde quickly scooted out into the open, standing next to the silver haired one.

"I'm s-s-sorry boss...."

Now, normally Seifer would have had some rude comment to follow, something about how easy Demyx fell into submission yet how horrible of a lackey he'd make. But under normal circumstances a giant demonic looking creature wouldn't be staring down at him. So as much as his personality wanted him to stand still and show how tough he could be, his mind for once said that running would most likely be the best course of action. Wiping the surprised look from his face long enough to shoot a rather nasty glare at Kadaj and Demyx, the fox boy took off running for the inside of the house.

Demyx simply stared at the adult creeper, body trembling violently.

"T-t-t-that's an a-a-adult?!"

The blonde squeaked, struggling to resist the urge to flee much like Seifer had done.

Kadaj gave his minion a reassuring pat on the head and smiled.

"No need for you to apologize. And that is indeed an adult. Beatiful, isn't it?"

Striding forward, helaid a hand on the adult creeper and gave it an ear scritch by way of rewarding it.

"You know, just in case Mr Discipline comes back, I think we'll keep this guy with us while we practice. And you don't have to shake so much, Dem. He's not going to hurt anyone I don't want him to. Your pup will grow up to be liek this, so might as well get used to it."

Then, Kadaj did somethign completely out of character. Snaking out an arm, he gave Demyx a half hug and gently pushed him further out into the yard.

"Your turnm to practice. But this time, I think we'll change the lesson. You're going to learn to stand up to that jerk if have my way."

The cat boy fidgeted as he was patted, green eyes still focused on the Creeper.

"Er...beautiful...yeah..."

It certainly was...interesting at least. And his little pup was going to grow up into that? Holy hell...

"Keeping him around sounds...good...."

He squeaked a bit, ears flattening.

"So long as it's just to keep Seifer away..."

The blonde catboy blinked in surprised as he was hugged, then flailed slightly as he was pushed further out into the yard.

"huhwhat?! W-w-what do I have to d-do?"

He turned to Kadaj, still fidgeting around a bit as he waited for his instructions.

Kadaj leaned against a tree and crossed his arms. Both Creepers seemed content to keep themselves between the back door and the rest of the yard, so that was fine.

"Now," Kadaj began in his most reasonable tone, "we are going to practice fighting. It'll be good for both of us. Help sharpen my refelxes and give you some much needed lessons in self defense. And it will also help you learn to control that water bubble trick of yours."

As he spoke, the silver haired cat boy drew his katana and began to absently polish the blade against the hem of his coat. He flicked an imaginary piece of dust from it and carefully measured the distance between Demyx and himself. One way or another, he thought, this boy is going to learn to fight back.

"Now," he continued in the same calm voice, "if you've no further questions, I would suggest you guard yourself... "

And then he lunged, sword at the ready.

Demyx's eyes widened considerably as Kadaj drew his sword. Now Dem knew that fighting existed in the world, and at times was necessary. This didn't, however, mean that he wanted to ever particpate in said fighting.

"Er...boss?...."

Still fidgeting, the blonde eyed the weapon nervously. True, it was beautiful, and...well it was very shiny. Demyx liked shiny things. Demyx didn't like shiny pointy things that could hurt him though.

"Boss...what are you do----AHHWHATTHEHELL?!?!"

Demyx immediately dove out of the way of the oncoming cat boy, giving him one terrified glance before scampering off under the table again.

Kadaj had been expectingDemyx to try and dodge. Maybe even do sometign out of instinctive self-defense. He had not, however, expected his minion to make such a speedy dive out of the way. He was even more surprised when the ground came up to say hello to his face.

He laid in the grass for a few moments, carefully taking stock of any possible broken bones in his face. Once he was certain that no real permanent damage had been done, he very slowly levered himself up and stared at Demyx coweruing under the table.

"While i do appreciate that runnign can be a decent form of protectign oneself in a pinch," he began, struggling to keep his temper in check, "It is not always going to work and you can't hide under a table for the rest of your life!"

Demyx stared back fearfully, his whole body trembling. The blonde was not only scared out of his mind, he was also in shock. He never really expected Kadaj to try to attack him, whether it was for educational purposes or not.

"B-b-b-but b-b-boss...."

Demyx stumbled over his words, struggling to say more but eventually deciding it simply wasn't worth the effort. Grabbing his knees in an instincitve, protective hug, the spastic one kept his green eyes fixed on Kadaj in case he tried another attack.

Wincing slightly, Kadaj sat up and continued to stare at Demyx. Wide eyes, shaking like a leaf and curling into a ball. The only thing he wasnt doing was rocking back and forth and drooling. If he wanted to keep his minion, he was going to have to do some fast talking.

"I wasn't really going to hurt you, you know," he began in his gentlest voice. "I was going to pull the blow. I just wanted you to try and defend yourself."

He suspected that yelling or name calling would only make things worse. And make me sound like that jerk fox boy, he mused. That would not help any. Instead, he stabbed his sword into the ground and leaned back in the grass, crossing both arms behind his head. Keeping one blue green eye on Demyx, he kept up the amible chatter, wondering what his mother would think of him.

"It's not always a good thing to go through life frightened of everything, Dem. The bullies will always home in on you and try to puff themselves up by making you miserable. Just like that fox boy earlier. Why not come out? No more practice or anythign today. We can watch the sunset and star gaze a bit, eh?"

He thought about offering cookies, but decided against it. Instead, he sighed, arranged his body into a more comfortable position and turned his eyes skyward.

For a long while, Demyx made no effort to leave the safety of the table. Green eyes stayed trained on Kadaj, while the body they belonged to continued it's violent trembling. But slowly, ever so slowly he seemed to be coming around.

"R-r-r-really?"

Okay, so Kadaj had just been...training...him. No real harm was intended. That was good, but it didn't make the attack any less scary.

"N-n-no more p-p-practice?"

Yes, he was simply repeating what Kadaj had said, but somehow that made him feel slightly better. So slowly he unwrapped his arms from his knees and scooted out from under the table. He studied Kadaj a moment longer before inching over to the silver haired one and stopping.

"O-o-okay....looking at the s-s-stars sounds g-good..."

Keeping his eyes trained upward, Kadaj replied, "No, no more practice tonight. I'm not up to it after the full body slam with the ground."

The silver haired cat boy was careful to keep a chuckle in his voice when he said that. A son of Jenova admitting weakness! Surely hell was hosting the hockey Championship! Still, if it kept his minion from going catatonic, where was the harm?

"I enjoy star gazing when the night is clear enough," he stated as if talking to himself. "I always liked to wonder about what's up there and whether there were anymore like my Mother up travelling the cosmos..."
