Israel paused in her drawing and watched him add the splash of yellow. Frowning a bit in concentration as she studied the canvas for a moment. Where it had been dark and stormy before, she noted that he had added a few other bright colors in addition to the streak of yellow.
"Well... You said you woke up and felt the need to paint your feelings. I'm just curious as to what made you feel so dark?" she asked, looking back down to her drawing.

Giani looked up and smiled lightly. He had promised he would answer any question honestly. "I'm a manic depressive." He said bluntly adding some light blues to the canvas. "Well, not so much now as I was in my earlier teens. My father taught me, whenever I get bad feelings about myself I should transfer them to canvas, get them out of my body. That's what this was."
He mixed a couple more colours and added some highlighting to the non descript shapes. "But now this afternoon, you make me happy. So I wanted to make a better painting, a brighter one. Does that make sense?"

Israel listened as her eyes flicked between Giani and the paper. That made total sense to her. She had done the very same thing when her father had died. But then his sweet words drew her attention and a warm smile from her. She looked back at the canvas and nodded.
"That makes perfect sense," she said, looking over at him. She watched him for a minute, then looked back at the canvas. The fact that he thought enough of her to change a painting like that, filled her with happiness. She was glad to know that she made at least one person happy here. With the smile still on her lips, she looked back down to her portrait and continued to draw.

Mixing the last of his colours he placed them precisely on the canvas in long strokes. Sitting back he looked at it critically, it could be better but he was pleased with how he had changed it. "Are you nearly done?" He asked grinning. "I want to come and glance over your shoulder."

Israel barely glanced up from the page as she nodded. "Come on over," she said, putting a few more finishing touches here and there. She glanced up again and looked over at the painting. She had liked it before with its moodiness and rich colors, but the lighter tones he had added made it stand out so much more.
"I liked your painting before... but I think that happiness suits you better," she smiled up at him.

Leaving the painting to dry he hopped onto the bed and looked over her shoulder at the picture. She really knew how to capture people. Their feelings and emotions, their whole personality in a picture. "I see you caught my handsome side." He smirked moving to sit next to her cross legged. "An attractive addition to you collection if I do say so myself."

"Most definitely," she grinned looking down at the picture. Even if he was just teasing, she had to admit that he was mostly right. "It's not hard to miss your handsome side," she grinned, looking up at him. She looked back down to the portrait and gently pulled it out of the book. Closing it she handed it to him.
"Well Signore Rossi, I've had a wonderful day again. But unfortunately my textbooks are calling my name. I'll see you on Thursday?" she asked.

Giani took her free hand and placed a friendly kiss on her knuckes. "Until Thursday Dolce. I look forward to it!" He said grinning.

Israel smiled softly and gently pulled her hand away as she got up from his bed.
"As do I Giani. Arrivederci!" she waved and smiled as she made her way out of his room. ~~~ Fade to Black ~~~
