I dont know what i consider myself on this subject.... i guess im religion confused. I feel like a hypocrite if i go to church because im definitely less than saintly. all of my friends tell me that its ok and no ones perfect iand that god accepts me for who i am but then there are some people who say if your "living in sin" and you come to church then its like "slapping god in the face" but anyways.... i just dont know

People who are religious are twats because they are SO unintelligent that they fail to actually see logic, or doubt what they are taught, or are too scared to doubt it.
Therefore, religious = twats, just like people who eat bread = bread eaters. 1 = one. 3nodding
No holes in my logic.

"And if your experiences tell you that less intellectual people are inferior to more intellectual people,"
What do YOUR experiences tell you? It's actually quite insane that you're disagreeing with me on that.

Did it ever occur to you that your own beliefs could, in some ways, be wrong?

There are many intelligent people who are also religious. Many who are much much smarter than you probably are. Merely because someone CHOOSES to think a certain way does not imply that they are in any way lacking in brightness. Chances are that you are not correct about everything that you believe, so does that, by your logic, make you a t**t?

My experiences tell me that quite often, people who lack a certain element of brightness can be far far superior to those who have all of the intelligence in the world. It's not what you've got, but how you use it.

Many serial killers are absolute geniuses. Many charitable people are not all that bright.

Defend your logic!

I don't believe anything. I can constantly doubt things I know, but I choose to express my argument in a straight out, agressive way. It's just how I do things.
You don't choose to think a certain way. That's about the same as saying you choose what your favourite colour is. You don't - its the way you happen to be.
Everything I think is probably correct in has a basic logic towards it. Everything I think is probably correct is because from what I have seen or experienced, this is the most correct inference I can make.
There are things that you HAVE to ALWAYS doubt, and not believe in any possibilities whatsoever, which includes why we're here, where we'll be after we die, all that jazz.
When people have faith in God, it PISSES ME OFF, and makes me want to beat them with a large stick. Basically, when you say you believe in God, thats you being STUBBORN... thats you CLOSING YOUR MIND to the subject.
And by my logic, no it doesn't make me a tawt. Things I believe have some kind of evidence to support what I believe.

Why do you think that the majority of great scientists and philosophers were/are athiest?

And what exactly IS this 'element of brightness' you're talking about?

Serial killers that are absolute geniuses are far superior to stupid charity workers. Is your.. element of brightness.. western morality? Thats what it sounds like you mean. 3nodding
About your statement "it's not what you've got, its how you use it,"
It's how you choose to use it. Genius serial killers chose to use it in a way they chose, and I'll respect them for that. I'll respect them for making up their own minds.

You may believe in nothing, but most people are unable to do so. They are in NO WAY inferior to you, they simple have a DIFFERENT personality complex to yours, NOT WORSE, JUST DIFFERENT.

As a matter of fact, I do chose to think in certain ways. I DID choose my favorite color (orange) based on the fact that nobody else I knew felt the same way, and that I liked to be different. Over time, I began to like the color orange more and more, merely because I had decided that it would be my favorite. I also CHOSE not to be religious, even though I practically grew up in a temple. No one forced me to think the way I do, if anything, they tried to make me think the opposite.

"Everything you think is probably correct"? WHAT? Are you telling me that when you were in kindergarden, you never accidentally made the mistake of thinking that 1+2=4, or believed your parents when they said that the tooth fairy brought you money when you left a tooth under your pillow? Come on, bud, nobody's perfect. Especially not people who respect serial killers because they're smart.

A basic logic? Like the basic logic that caused Jewish people to think that it was a sin to eat pigs? Do you know WHY that rule was created? Because it was easy to contract diseases from pig meat, more so than other meats. Jews created that rule as a way to SURVIVE. To save lives. Religion doesn't only kill.

Just because people believe in God does not mean that they are closing their minds. Most probably have nothing better to believe in, and therefore go with the option that, as of right now makes the most sense to them. This does not mean that, given half an opportunity, some of them wouldn't switch to whatever made more sense. Sort of like scientists, believing in one theory until another comes along.

And do you honestly think that beating people will make them believe what you say?

Religion is based on interpretations of evidence. Like when the Red Sea parted so that the Jews could flee Egypt, science now says that that was caused by a strange wind pattern that happens every so often, but before that, the only possible explaination that people saw was that a higher power had willed it. The sea splitting WAS their evidence.

Lets think about this for a minute.
Einstein: Jewish
da Vinci: Christian
Plato, Socrates, Aristotle: Greek (believed in Greek religion)

Let's hear some of yours.

Any element you want. People don't have to be geniuses to be great people.

Is there something wrong with my western morality? The idea that people should try to help each other, not beat each other with large sticks? I'd rather be moral than violent.

Okay, so you respect serial killers because they kill people smartly. Would you still respect them if they smartly killed you? For making up their own minds to kill you?

People who are unable to do so are gullible, and therefore, are inferior to me in that respect.

So you lied to yourself about what your favourite colour was? What a nice strong mind you have.

Yeah, when I was in KINDERGARTEN. ******** hell!
You're insulting me for respecting serial killers because their smart? Because I go against your morals and am able to see things for what they are? If somebody is an intelligent human being, they deserve my respect. I think that the fact you disagree shows a fault of yours.

And why don't you tell me where I said it did, hmm?

Scientists will never believe a theory. Thats why they're all athiests. Scientists know nothing can be completely proven. Those that don't are crappy scientists.

Quote:

I don't expect you to. I'm partly doing this because I like see how my opinions can eat other people's up so easily.

So... what about that burning bush? Or the story of Adam and Eve? Or healing the blind man? Let's face it. You've got to be a pretty unintelligent individual to consider that fact, especially in the 21st century.

Karl Marx?
Theodore Drange?
Friedrich Nietzsche?
Galileo?
Friedrich Engels?
Charles Darwin?
Voltaire?
Heard of any of them? Hmm?
And Plato was against deciding or believing religion, and was above all, an athiest.
and Aristotle was reputed as being proved completely wrong! So I'm not sure why you're mentioning him.
And as I search on google, it looks like Leonardo Da Vinci was very non-religious.

Yeah.. yeah there is. You should decide for yourself whats right and wrong. Some things that are considered to be wrong are, when you use your logic, okay.
The majority of society is against gay marriage, but logically, thats alright. So yeah - I'm against your western morality for what it merely is.
