Death is a 7 foot tall skeleton whose eyes are tiny points of light. He is an "antropomorphic personification" who wears a robe of absolute darkness, carries a scythe with a blade so sharp it can slice through reality, flame and sound as well as corn. Death rides a horse but not, as you would expect, a flaming or skeletal horse. Death has the simple job of taking people into the next life. He doesn't have to be present at every death but does make an appearance during wars and other occasions of mass death. He is also always present when a wizard dies. Death did hire an apprentice - Mort but this didn't last long. Death is not always the solemn character that you would expect. He wants to understand humans and experience their lives. He has on occasion drunk the Mended Drum dry to try and forget (which of course he cannot). Death is a very likable character but then we are not likely to encounter him. Death tries so hard to imitate humans he has a large house and grounds, none of which is real and all of which is usually wrong. Death's house has two very important rooms. The first holds millions of books as far as the eye can see. Each of these books is constantly writing itself. These books are the life stories of the characters on the Disc. The other room has millions of hourglasses as far as the eye can see. The sound of sand constantly falling in millions of hour glasses is deafening. These hourglasses are the life sand of all the people on the disc. As the sand runs out, the timer disappears with a pop and another full one appears in its place.
