I personally think Light is awesome. Yeah, L's awesome too. But Light's got this whole "I'm sooo perfect, no one can figure out it's me" thing going on that totally rocks my socks. I really liked him in the beginning more, which is why I have his cram school outfit sweatdrop .
But Chapter 107 (and maybe 106, I can't remember)? Yeah, hated him then. But don't hate him because of what he's become, it was kinda beyond his control.
Spoiler:I think anyone would have gone crazy way before then. I actually find it amazing that he managed to keep his cool for so long. And I adored his speech as well ^_^.

Yeah, he's an interesting character razz rather evil but...at least it asks questions. I always liked him better than L. Rooted for him untill the end.

Hagane no Renkinjutsu gonk *snickers* well, yeah, you rooted for nothing. ...sorry that was mean sweatdrop i just love L so much and raito disurbs me!! no, I liked the ending. -Spoiler: a truely disturbing end to a pychopath. I suspected that would happen anyway! ...It's best that Raito is knocked down at the end.- but what would the story be without a Raito? ...although it could have been an interesting story JUST based on L and the police too. L bonders onto kinda insane too. Not the type to stick to policy and paperwork rofl

I have to say I did like him more in the beginning than I did later on in the series. He wasn't to loathing level or anything, but L ranks way above him with luff from Feather.

i agree. the story couldn't have gone on without light...he was real important...but still.
i like L more, even though his thinking bubbles can get rather long. and mello makes the world go round~! heart

Anyways... I love Raito. I absolutely can't hate him no matter what he does, even what he did to L. (Though I'll admit that that part REALLY bothered me because L reminds me of my favorite cousin. My cousin has the same sort of hair, eyes and intelligence. It would be creepy except that he doesn't look exactly alike) I think I can't hate him for two reasons. One, anyone who wanted to use the death note for a good cause like him would end up that way, including me. Two, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I believe things might've turned out better if there was a death note eraser like in the extras for Raito.
