Sa'avant groaned, somebody was yelling and it was giving him more of a headache then he already had. Lifting himself up onto his elbows he realized he was covered in muck from the alley floor. He was certain to smell dreadful.
The last thing I remember, he thought as he turned over to see who had been yelling, was some crazy woman trying to kill me for stealing a dagger. It was then that he saw it, that spidery dagger. Following the hips it was attached to up to the emerald eyes peering through the mask. He made a noise, deep within his throat. It wasn't really recognizable as anything intelligent, but merely a noise of fear and surprise at his current situation. He could barely hold himself up, much less get away or even fight back.
He waited now for the inevitable. Pain was sure to be involved and, if she had her way, probably death. Perhaps the other person there would help him. He turned slightly, he hadn't even noticed the other person at first, he was too gripped by fear to fully take in his surroundings. Perhaps this other person is on the crazy woman's side, he thought silently. Not that it matters, I'm a dead man either way.

Aria looked at the man lying on the muddy ground. Something about him was familiar. As the man groaned and turned over, she saw his masked face, a glow coming from where his eyes should be. Suddenly, she felt as if the air had been knocked out her, as recogniton came rushing in. The dagger! This was the man who tried to steal her dagger. Fear swept over her as she stared at the man. What had she done to him? Dear, gods, she thought. Please let him be alright.
She knelt at his side, pulling her mask off and reaching a tentative hand toward his shoulder. "Are you alright? Did I....did I hurt you?"

He didn't know what to do and his breath caught in his throat as his panic reached new heights when the woman removed her mask. His elbow slipped out from under him on the slick mud, landing him hard on his back. She isn't just some crazy woman, he thought, she's a crazy drow woman!! Although her words were kind and concerned, they didn't register to Sa'avant through his current state of panic.
His eyes shifted in fear once more from the drow to the elf and back again. It still hadn't registered as odd that a drow and an elf would be hanging out together. What have I gotten myself into? he screamed inside his head. It was just a bloody dagger!!

"Oh, it's you," Kirien said, with an interested fancy-meeting-you-here smile. "Having trouble walking, I assume? This isn't the spot I'd choose for a nap..." She looked from him to Aria, and realized she too would have been unpleasantly surprised to wake up to a drow bending over her.
"Oh, don't worry about her," she added. "She seems to have gone off killing people, as far as I can tell. Though it might be a good idea to keep your fingers away from her knickknacks in future." Kirien extended a hand to help the young man up. Lying about in the mud couldn't be very comfortable.

"I... I..." he stammered, trying to get something useful to come out of his mouth. He looked up at Aria's face and gazed into her eyes. They were not the normally harsh eyes of a drow, but kind and caring. It was a little unnerving, but it almost made him feel bad for trying to steal from her--almost.
His head was slowly coming together now as the effects of passing out wore off and his original surprise waned. "I passed out," he managed to say as he accepted the elf's extended hand to raise himself up to a standing position. He used the wall of the tavern for extra support once he was standing. "It wasn't from drinking," he added--defended himself from unwanted prejudice. He had, throughout the course of the day, a sip or two of his ale, but nothing more and most certainly not enough to get drunk enough to fall over. He didn't feel like explaining himself or how his use of magic had affected him any more, so he simply left it at that.

Aria looked at the young man lying on the ground and tried to hide a smile at his confused expression. He seemed to be alright, and whatever had been wrong with him did not apear to be her doing. And he did look awfully funny sitting in the middle of the muddy allyway gawping at her like a fish.
The young man stood up, with Kirien's help, and Aria followed suit. As he leaned unsteadily against the tavern wall, Aria flashed him an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry if I gave you a scare back there. I have these...spells where I'm not quite myself. I do hope I didn't do anything to harm you. Although trying to pinch anything off a Drow usually isn't the best idea," She added with a wry grin.
Aria looked at the young man and then at Kirien. Two strangers, connected to her by the evening's events. Was it coincedince? Or something more? She gave a small shake of her head and sighed. "I suppose I owe you an explanation, if you care to hear it. Our mutual benefactor and I were about to find somewhere more suitable to an extended discussion, if you'd care to join us." She looked at Kirien for confirmation.

"Oh, you weren't drinking? Just tired, then?" Kirien tilted her head curiously, but made no further comment on that topic. If he didn't want to explain it to them, she wasn't going to press him for answers. Maybe he'd gotten in a fight, or just tripped over something - though someone able to wield the sort of magic she'd seen him use in the tavern would surely have been able to get out of a fight.
She watched with interest as the two previous strangers talked. This evening was just getting more and more interesting; she hadn't had anything half so unusual happen in months! A thought came to her. "Well," she said brightly, "both of you look like you could use a quiet place to sit down. Why don't you come along and have a cup of tea? My shop is just a few streets down, and I flatter myself it's a bit more comfortable than most back alleyways." Normally she didn't invite people she'd just met into her house, but then this wasn't a normal evening.

Sryne just shook his head. It wasn't worth explaining to these two why he was face down in a muddy alleyway. All the better they didn't know, at least the drow. She'd probably take advantage of his weak state to rip his limbs apart or something. Crazy women.
He was tentative about going with the two, but he didn't see any other choices and it would be good to get away from the prying eyes of those passing the alleyway. "Lead on," he said as he tried to blink away his slight dizziness.
As he followed, his thought of how odd the company he was in. A crazy drow (although what drow isn't) and a sarcastic elf. This should prove more interesting than the gossip at the bar.
