Lol, this is some funny stuff. My band isn't quite so mean to the other members, but we still have our times. Back of the bus, on the way home, truth or dare, enough said.

haha, sometimes I'm so glad that I'm in pit. okay, this is like a little less than a week til competition, and we're on my schools football field (not the practice one) and we're in the middle of practice, everything is going pretty well when suddenly....the back sprinklers go off. It was so freakin funny, omg. of course, there are screams and people run to get out of the water ( and I do believe that the entire flute section was back there, so lots of screaming there was) BD's yell at everyone to stop running around and just to move up on the field. 5 minutes later...the middle spinklers go off. choas once again ensues. it was so funny! and once again everyone move up, by this time, the pit has been moved up onto the track for fear of getting run over. THe sprinklers got turned off, rest of the practice was fine.

Vanquila
I remember one time when we where coming home from Disney world on a band trip all tha guys in tha back of the bus kept say'n It's PURPLE!!!!!! and tha Parents on tha bus got annoyed with it.

she stood up and said. " If I here it'sPURPLE!!!!!!!! one more time YOu all are going to be in trouble!"

they stopped for a while then said at tha same time "IT'S.....!!" and held up a bunch of paper made signs with tha word Purple writen on it.

That was funny!!! I almost died laugh'n cause tha lady looked so annoyed when they did that!!!!!!!

Lol, that's hilarious....
On the last day of our eigth grade trip to Durango we spent the entire day hiking in the hot sun in Mesa Verde so when everyone got back to the hotel they got in the pool, including me, which was a mistake. Anyway, me.... being stupid, got into the pool with my glasses on and got into a splash war with my friends and my crush at the time.
Needless to say the glasses weren't working very well so I got out to put them down and fell flat on my butt in front of the entire band, orchestra, and choir!!!! If that wasn't bad enough as I was wlaking back to the pool, I fell in the exact same spot!!!! redface

We were walking across lacey during lunch break for mass band...this is when one of the drummers saw a really unique sign in a parking lot..."PHYSICAL THERAPY PATIENT PARKING ONLY" after picking up the sign and getting about 50 yards across the parking lot construction workers in red flannel started chasing us...thats when we decided to ditch the sign in favor of a hubcap we picked off the curb...we almost sold it to a kid later in the afternoon.

I have a bunch of interesting stories, but I'll only tell two right now.
We have this crazy frenchhorn player named Neri. He's really fun to be around but he tends to go a little too far with some of his jokes and such. After the Alamo marching fetsival, Neri was suspended from band for licking a trumpet player's (also a guy) n****e while we were waiting for our score in the stands. The whole band was shocked (not about the n****e licking, but about Neri being suspended). The rest of the frenchhorns made up a cheer for Neri at one of the games. Usually, the cheer goes like this (while making the letters with your arms):
M-A-V-S! M-A-V-S! M-A-V-S! M-A-V-S! Fight! Mavs! Fight!
The new cheer went a little something like this:
N-E-R-I! N-E-R-I! N-E-R-I! N-E-R-I! Where! Is! Neri!
We got in a load of trouble but we did it 'cause we love our Neri. He's the band's favorite problem child. Our band is just one big happy family, no?
Okay, here's the second one. We have two different band uniforms. One has a white jacket and white bibs and the other has a blue jacket, blue bibs, and a bright orange cummerbund. Well, the blue jackets zip up the back so the running band tradition is to say "Do me!" when you need your jacket zipped up. It's perfectly normal to hear a bunch of people yelling that on the busses but we had a new chaperone at one of our games who was not told about the bus tradition. She raced to the back of my bus and screamed that fornicating in public was illegal and that she was going to report the entire bus to the head band director. Well we tried to explain but she stormed off to Mr. Gan and told him we were doing inappropriate things on the bus. She said that we were all yelling "Do me!" at the tops of our lungs and Mr. Gan replied, "Oh that's normal. The only time you need to worry is when they're quiet." 'Tis true. We're good little band nerds when we're being loud, but when we get quiet you know we're up to something. 3nodding

I like that last one....

"DO ME!!!"

new band parent stories...herm...

Our band had an all nighter in preparation for basketball season...one of our freshmen clarinet players mother stopped in to chaperone....

Well there was about fifteen of us making very sexual conversation, the new band parent walked right into the middle of us....

The expression on her face is priceless...I wish I had a camera, it was this absolutely baffled, shocked, amazed, and mortified look that just screamed out

"MY DAUGHTER IS GOING TO BE WITH THESE PEOPLE TWO OR THREE NIGHTS A WEEK FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS!!! AND ON BUSES WITH THEM!!!AND AN HOUR A DAY FOR THE NEXT SEMESTER AND A HALF!!! GOD HELP US ALL"

everyone of us got a laugh out of that.

heh, at our state competition, a certain school's bus was in front of ours, and their other one was next to ours...the girls decided to change on the bus next to ours there were smudges on the window that my seat mate made lust staring...it was interesting, to say the least...well, the bass drummer's pa was not too happy about all of this and just about beat his boy to a bloody pulp...it was quite amusing...the girls made a sign that said "stop watching you pervs!!!" and I apologized on behalf of the guys in our band...yeah, I'm a nice guy...

At the prom two of the girls in band went and took a picture of our band director. Anyways our director didn't want his picture taken so he made a really funny face... The two girls had used a digital camera, so they scanned the pic onto one of their computers and printed it out and then took it and then taped it to the front of our director's podeum. When he walked in everybody started to laugh really hard and it took him forever to figure out why everybody was laughing really hard and couldn't play when he tryed to get us to.

hmmm. . . .i don't think this is to funny but. . . .we have this rivial school and their fight song is "eye of the tiger". well, when we played them our band went out and then they started playing thier fight song, and while they were playing we started singing "GLEN, GLEN GLEN GLEN, GLEN GLEN GLEENNNN", ya know, like from the commercial. It was awesome, but i don't think the whole band was singing, just the flutes(i'm a flutist, and we rock!), percussion and the double reeds, but we were still really loud 3nodding it's was awesome though cuz teh tiger mascot got all madd and came over and shook it's fist at us xp

I'm a fluteist and I agree, flutes rock! Last year we sang to our band songs, we played Gonna Fly Now from rocky... This year I'm at a new school new band and we played Eye of the Tiger it was fun.

We were in a coach bus on the way to South Dakota to perform and this one Trumpet kid named Nolan went to the back of the bus where me, and the upper classmen sat including our section leader Cassie. So he went into the bathroom and we locked him in by taking a table that was at one of the seats and blocking the door so it won't open. So Nolan's in there yelling at us saying that we're mean and stuff like that. So Cassie tells him that it's easy to get out of it by pushing the table up. So Nolan puts his arm through the door and starts pushing the table up when Cassie yells," Good job Nolan!" Than immediately pushes the table right back down. Everyone picks on Nolan...it's really funny.

During my Freshman year at bandcamp, my older brother was the senior. My brother was the loudest person there and he was personally friends with our immature 24-year-old band director who was still a kid himself. On the third night we all had to be in the auditorium and we had a mock-talant show where Andy(my brother) sang Beautiful (by Christina Agulara) while his friend played it on the piano. After that, my band director and his friend Mickey(who taught the precussionists) went up onto the stage and sang their own song to my brother, called Shut Up Andy. It was the funniest thing I've seen, and my brother laughed as hard as anyone else.

This year, being my freshman year, I haven't really had any real exciting...ish things to happen...sorta. o.O

Early on in the year, during the week of the second football game, I was stupid enough to wear shoes not that great for marching on the scarred, clumped wasteland that is our practice field. On a sixteen-count backwards move I tripped and fell. It turns out by the next day my right ankle was swollen, so I had to sit out on the sideline and force my lazy, uncaring alternate to march the entire time. (Hahahahahaha.) The next day, Thursday, I stayed home to rest my foot. Friday I was able to walk, but I wasn't going to march the show (of course) so as it was time for us to leave the bandstands, I got up carefully. It had rained, and the stands were rather...slick.

Luckily I didn't have my clarinet with me right then, going down the steps, because someone slipped and ran into me from one of the rows, which made me slip and slide down most of the steps footfirst. Getting up, I hobbled down the rest of the way, until I got to the ground and level with the field. Suddenly I got really dizzy, and had to cling to the rail of the stairs to keep upright, and I almost passed out. The band office ladies had to take me by the arms and almost drag me into the bandroom. xd xd

One more:....

It was the week of our third competition, and this sophomore Ashley was at a funeral outside the state. So I had to march the show with a huge gap in front of me (for the most part) and the next clarinet over was well...sophomore or not, she really sucks at intervals, even if there IS someone on either side of her. There comes a part in the show where the ENTIRE band does an about-face....I about-faced two beats early. gonk
