"Only if you want to," was Justin's curt reply, before he walked in. He touched an unmarked place in the wall, and the lights came on, powered by the now-repaired mana tubing and the just-delivered mana bucket. "Just close the door behind you."
The plants were now being watered as needed now that the main pipe was patched as well. The lone chair around the large metal table squeeked as he pulled it backwards, sitting down. He began sweeping things off the table with his left hand as he held out his right, expecting the artifact.

Faris followed behind the stranger, closing the door as requested. He followed him across the room, not paying mind to much. "I suppose you should know the name of your employer." Faris removed the artifact from the sheath once more. "Faris Arpegius..." He set the cannon down on the table. A loud thud demonstrated its weight. "Faris will suffice." He was expecting some kind of reaction from his name, being of a known lineage.
((Finally came up with a last name whee ))

"Oh?" answered Justin once more, "Justin Vechos. It matters not what you call me."
He picked the object off the table high enough to slide a rotating disk underneath it, so he could turn it without too much effort. "Markings?" questioned Justin. He was half-inclined to call them runes, though he was not an expert in the art. He looked around for any indications of a way to open it.

By this time Faris was looking around the room for the first time. He took particular notice to the plants. "Yes, I don't know what kind of markings they are. They aren't Lyran for sure, and I doubt they are Geosin either." He turned his attention back to Justin momentarily to see him analyzing the cannon more carefully. "If you need to take it apart be my guest.." Justin seemed to be rather skilled in the art and would rather him be toying with the cannon that himself. Its not like the artifact was sentimentle or anything.

((I'm leaving late afternoon tomorrow, just so you know. Be back Monday. ))
Justin looked at them, trying to discern more recognisable markings amongst the canon's carving. It then occured to him to look for a trigger or switch. He hadn't looked for one yet, nor did he see any readily apparent when Faris showed him when he was on the roof. Could it be that this wasn't a Lyran brand artifact at all?
"May I see the shells?" he asked turning to Faris for the time being, completely unrelated to his current trend of thought.

Faris turned away from the plants and shifted over to where Justin was seated. He released the beige sack from his belt and set it on the table, also with loud thud. The shells were large and heavy, so there were only four in the sack. They were discovered at the same time as the gun. "There you are."
((Ok. Thanks for the heads up.))

Justin placed the shell on a plate. Well, in reality, it was more like two plates- one covered the runes on the other. He activeated this run, and it glowed , revealing the existence of mana within. Vechos nodded, and took the shell off. "It looks like this isn't a Lyran artifact at all, but a Runist mechanism," he said at last. "Though the manner of casing the mana indicates a Lyran slant to it..." A Runist take on the shell would be thinner, more relient on runes around it. That though, would be tedious to do on many shells.
It honestly reminded Justin of his own works, though the maker obviously had access to higher-end materials.

A mix of Lyran and Runist technology...gross. "So there isn't an igniter after all." Faris was dissapointed. He knew Lyran technology was simple and uncomplicated for someone like him. Runist magick was bothersome on the other hand. "Well then, how does the application work?"

Justin tried to phrase it as shortly as he could. "If you can use Runes, then you would put the shell in the tube, and call out the appropriate chant to activate the runes." He was assuming there was a chant of at least a few syllables and not simply mind-activation, considering the complexity of the markings. "It would then use the mana in the shell in some way to do its work."

Faris was expecting a response like that. "Well then I have no use for this than." Faris reached into his pocket and removed a small bag filled with what sounded to be coins. He dropped the currency on the table next to the gun as he turned around and started to walk away. "That should be enough to cover it. Take care Justin." Faris called back to him as he made towards the door.

Justin quickly hid his confused, though certainly not displeased look. He wasn't expecting money for bad news, but he had still been paid. "Thank you sir," he said, looking over the gun and ammunition.

Faris stopped at the door. "Don't be too gracious. I'v seen that your a gifted artificer. Therefore you are now one of my sources in this city. You are now in the service of the Arpegius family...even if you do use runic magick." He gave a smirk that would probably go unnoticed since he was still facing the door. "Expect to see me again. Goodbye." Faris exited through the advanced door and eventually escaped from sight as he drifted away into the city.

Justin looked over his shoulder at the man again, and tried his best to shrug it off. If he showed a sort of shame around this, though he hid it, it could serve as blackmail. Well, the money would help a bit, though less so than it woud normally in another city. He didn't say goodbye, since the man had already left. Justin stood up, and thought, unsure what to think of 'being in the service' of some family.

//Been so LONG! I think I might part from the party briefly till sunny is back!//
Celestra wondered about as she followed the two before. She knew the child would be alright now that she is back with familiar faces. And from what little she could depict from the woman, her kinds, well forginers were taken lightly. So, for a moment. It might be better if she parted and explored a bit. Get her bearings again. "Little one. I must go off for awhile. I wish you many happyness with your mother." Smiling brightly at her. "I can see great potential in you. One day. I can see you rising this city back to it's former glory. Belive in thyself, for it is the greatest power anyone can have." Bowing lightly, and pulling her hood back on. She parted her ways. It would be easier if she did her searching alone. Less a crowd would grow less suspicious.

Her travel took her quite far. And finally she found other life on this desolate section. Two other men from what she can gather from a distance. One was doing something her eyes can't quite catch because of the angle he's bent to. Curiously, she came nearer to inspect what spectacular 'magic' was being done. Was this one of the gifts of this land being displayed? Keeping her distance as not to disturb any of them, she watched in wonder.
