"Oh," Alces laughed, "Your horse. I see." He then shook his head, "The man hasn't gone and made himself sick from studying too much again has he?" He asked slowly, "I certainly hope he hasn't."

"I'm not really sure, all I know is that he is awfully busy," she nodded, "he's got a big position waiting for him when he reaches adulthood..." she smiled, "he didn't seem to sick anyway, he was calm and content, and well-mannered and nice, friendly, just his usual self really..."

"Aye, that he does." He seemed satisfied, now that he was somewhat sure the poor young man had studied until he became sick, "Good, I would hate to see the poor boy sick again." Alces smiled at Ursa again as he looked back toward the door, "I'm afraid I must be going soon. I do believe I am supposed to meet my Kithain in Gaia. I hope you enjoy the gift, and thank you for the gift you gave me." He held it up in one of his hands and gave a nod toward it, "Farewell Lady Ursa. It was nice seeing you, and I look forward to seeing you again sometime soon." With that, he began heading to the door.

"Goodbye Alces, enjoy your day," she sat back down at her desk, and opened the book at once, flicking through the pages and taking notes.

15th December

After meeting with Alces, It soon came to me that everyone has a part to play in life. They have to work for it.. So I decided after a long ponder, that I'd stick my head down and get into some serious reading. But most of the time, I was distracted by novels. So I ended up reading them instead. Seeno always tells me to take a break and such, 'Don't be so hard on yourself,' he'd always say to me. 'Take it step by step day by day.'

So I did, everyday I'd do research on a different topic, and promise myself with a two hour break to do whatever I please, and after a while I got into the swing of it. I set myself, courses, tasks, reading, writings. But I long to socialize again, I'm starting to feel like Sleeping Beauty, locked away, waiting for her kiss-

Eh-hem.

I'll have to arrange something sooner or later, or I'll be known as the Fey who never came out, not once, studied 24/7, nonono! I'll have to go out!

A small package is left outside your chamber door wrapped in festive cloth. Inside is a small card and a toy. The card reads:

Happy Yule, Ursa!

Always,
Cervus

25th December; Christmas

Well Christmas. Hadn't even heard of the word until Seeno pointed it out, three weeks before the event itself! But nonetheless Seeno was invited here to spend Christmas with me, as he doubted Leah would want company. Not until Seeno arrived with a couple of parcels, did I understand that gifts were involved.

Seeno had brought a book on Christmas, so I didn't hesitate to have a glide through. It said something about 'Santa?' I wonder who he is; maybe I should read it again. I'm sitting at the bottom of my bed writing this entry. Seenos already left, we had our Christmas dinner just about twenty minutes ago. Nothing warm though. But I did demolish the cheese and crackers! They were delicious.

After that, Seeno spread out the gifts on the table, and said I could pick anyone I wanted first. Eyeing the largest I knew something amazing would be inside. So, I unwrapped, and to my pleasure I found a mix of books, notepads, pencils, scrap book and a proper stationary set.

I also got; a lovely jumper to keep me warm during this cold period, nice beige colour! A cuddly bear-plushie, which in fact is about the size of an average toddler! Squee, it’s so cute as well! And last but not least, a photo of Seeno and I, in a golden frame. I think that was the best present, it sits on my desk, quite the thing.

Ohh! And to make me sound less greedy, I did give Seeno something in return. Nothing that big, but something worth more... Sentimental value. My bear hair clip. I have two, so ones for him and the other belongs to me!

I also got a gift from Cervus! Adorable penguin toy, that’s on my desk too. But strangely enough, I folded up the wrapping paper it was wrapped in and shut it away in my drawer. Only because it was nice paper! Hehe.

Anyway, I better be off, going to take a nap, all that food makes you dizzy!

1st January; New year

Dear Diary,
......Seeno decided it might be appropriate to explain what exactly new year was, and maybe let me at a sparkler. So about 11pm he came into my chambers, a bag full of sparklers, and a book. He read a chapter about "What new year is," its weird.. I mean once the clock hits 12pm, its a new day? Strange...

But still, we had a fairly good time lighting the sparklers and waving them around the room. I wrote my name in mit air with them, and it still-semi-looked like it was there a few moments after.

But now, its 1am, and Seenos far gone, he said something about going to check up on Leah. But he seems to care more about her than he does me. But promised, that maybe by next month, I'd have one of his pets from Gaia, to come live with me and keep me company!

That would be highly interesting... I suppose.

Adulthood.

Adulthood
Sajhiri
The Great Hall of Castellum Argentus has been decorated in hues of orange, gold, and white, all symbolizing the sun rising on a new year. Gauzy fabric hangs from the vaulted ceiling to the floor in mysterious swaths, almost creating pathways through the large space, ringing the open central space for dancing. Music drifts through the air, a variety of records being played on a hand-cranked vitrola. Most are classical music and some medieval and renaissance pieces to fit in with the courtly mood.

Several long tables have been covered in linen and piled high with fruits; cheeses, succulent roasted meats, vegetables, and pastries of all sorts.

((This thread is for the Masquerade Ball plot, posting in it is completely open to Silva Regia fey and their Kithain. The Moon Court will be appearing but only after the drinks of the Sun Court have been drugged and the members of the court become less aware of strangeness in the number of participants or their appearances. When making your first post, please include a description (or picture) of your costume, thanks!))

Sajhiri
King Cervus strolled through the hall, unrecognizable in his decadent costume. He was garbed as the Green Man of lore, his face and hair dyed green with molded leaves surrounding it. His torso had been garbed in browns and greys, with dark lines depicting bark. From behind and atop his head, branches with leaves jutted upwards, completing the image of a tree with the Green Man's face peering out of it. This did well to disguise his antlers which appeared to be nothing more tree branches.

He strode amid the hanging fabric, smiling a serene and happy smile. His people were reborn, the year was dawning anew, and he had married his queen. Life was sweet.

(Art by Sayuri_Nitta)

Seeno
Ursa entered the hall rather silently. Her posture rather slumped after a while of trying to adjust to the feeling of the high heels on her feet. It was very hard to walk in them, so she attempted larger steps. Her fingers were wrapped carelessly at the necklace upon her neck, rubbing at the feather without even knowing.

It was a good feeling upon entering. The hall itself was bright and welcoming, she stopped for a moment or two in her way in, to admire the beauty. She nodded to herself, her smile wide, this would be a great event, she was certain of it.

Sajhiri
Cervus spotted the first arrival and he drifted in her direction. "Good evening, Milady. Don't you look lovely. Welcome to the Masquerade. Would you do me the honor of a dance?" The Fey King went to great lengths to disguise his voice for the occasion, trying to make himself as unrecognizable as possible. So it was that the Green Man entreated the glamorously costumed girl for a dance.

Shiaree
User Image
Shy, though obviously attempting not to show it lest her identity be discovered, the mouse carefully pattered into the room, looking about. These were familiar people, though she would not be able to tell one from the other, if the costumes did their job. She really had no reason, she knew, to be so insecure.

Her soft slippers made almost no sound as she made her way to the table piled with food-- she had been with Sissy attempting to get everything put together for quite some time now, and hadn't had anything to eat just yet.

The figure behind her was rather nicely garbed as well. Decked in shimmery silver fabric that looked like a piece of the moon, she was relatively unmistakable to any who knew her. The dress was beautiful, though. With an empress waist that caused everything below her breasts to billow out and swirl about her feet (invisible, for the dress itself's length covered them neatly...though when she moved, one could see she wore no shoes at all.). Even the half-moon mask she wore over her face did little to disquise her appearance, as she let her dark purple hair fall to her back, strung with sparkly moons and stars, not bothering even to change its colour or put it up in some manner.

Shiaree decided not to scold Muris in any way for her behaviour. Afterall, the poor dear was already worried enough about the Masquerade, she didn't need any help.

Smiling, she made her way over towards the two figures.
"Good evening," she said gently, giving them a respectful curtsey and then heading to join Muris at the table.

Seeno
She giggled for a moment, "thank you very much! Your costume is brilliant! Very clever idea." She quickly cleared her throat and nodded, removing the hand from the grasp on the necklace. "Of course," she stated, smiling through her disguise. It interested her, she pondered on the identity of the person behind the mask, but that was the name of the game, and she'd only be left to ponder on it.

"Good Evening," she replied to the woman who had strolled over for a brief moment before heading toward the tables.

Sajhiri
The Green Man nodded regally to Muris and Shiaree as he led the costumed Ursa through the veils of fabric towards the dance floor. He also gave his Kithain a respectful nod as he passed by her.

Sajhiri was wearing an angel costume, fluffy white wings sprouting from her back, in compliment to those which were always at her temples. A white sash floated around her distended belly, revealing her state of impending motherhood. She waved a winged staff at Cervus in hello before she settled into a chair to take the pressure off her aching feet.

Once at the dance floor, Cervus spun Ursa around in time with the waltz being played. "Your costume is exquisite, Milady," he complimented in a sincere tone.

Youkochylde
Feles scowled inwardly as he paused at the entrance to the Great Hall. The trip here had been uneventful, and he was hoping everything went off without a hitch. So long as one of them managed to plant the drug, things would work perfectly...

He slipped into the Hall, staying amidst the wispy fabric that shrouded places here and there, his feet making no sound on the floor. Around his feet was cupped fabric that had been starched stiff and painted with a metallic gold hue. The 'covers' went up to his knee where they were held in place with gilded trim, a fall of wispy, pastel colours falling down as if they were the fetlock over a horse's hoof. The tunic he wore was white, trimmed in gold, as were the bands that decorated his upper arms and wrists. From the ones on his wrists, a matching fall of the silken hairs dropped to cover his hands lightly. His hands were coloured as well, Youko having gotten hold of theatrical makeup that wouldn't rub off on everything and painted the cat from wrist to fingertip in the gold colouring. Where the feathering covered the purple tattoos on his leg, gold makeup covered the one on his face, the boy's eyes rimmed with the same shade.

All in all, he had an almost magical look about him, lent to even more by the spiralling golden horn that had been securely attached to his forehead with spirit gum. His ears were left alone, bearing enough of a resemblance to horse's ears on their own... and the boy's hair and tail had been dyed in the same pale rainbow shades as the costume hair that had been used to make the hand and foot covers. His tail, however, had a gold cord wrapped at the base, and wound down over a good three quarters of it, holding the fur tightly to the skin. Only the last part was allowed to tuft outward, making it seem like a unicorn's tail.

He would never forgive his Kithain for dressing him up like this... but even HE had to admit that it was a damned good idea for sneaking into a Sun Court party.

Pale eyes scanned quickly, seeing that hardly anyone had arrived yet. It would do good for him to just stay out of the way for now and pretend he was just some kid that one of the Kithain had brought with them.

She looked to Sajhiri upon passing her, and faintly smiled, her eyes more directed to her stomach, staring was rude, but she couldn't help it, she'd never seen a woman pregnant before. It didn't look like a nice ordeal either, her hand was led to her stomach. She looked down at it and followed Cervus; 'The Green Man'.

Ursa tried her best to dance, she hadn't really danced before, but she was getting into the swing of it, carefully trying not to stand on the mans foot with each movement. "Thank you very much!" she replied quickly, blushing underneath the mask.

Sajhiri
Cervus smiled and twirled the young lady about the dance floor, his steps very graceful and well learned in the waltz. When the song ended he stepped back and bowed low to Ursa. "I was honored to dance with you, Milady."

Seeno
She curtseyed elegantly and took a step back, but upon stepping back; a pain, fast as a shot, raged through her. Nails digging into her palm, she fell another few steps back, panting heavily as the pain raged on. A beam of blue white light shot out in all directions, taking Ursa completely by surprise.. Her back lurched over, and she held herself, waiting for this immense pain to surpass.

Sajhiri
Cervus staggered back, his eyes widening. "A transformation here? Now?" he muttered in shock. He motioned for the attendees to stay clear of the striken fey. "She is growing...give her room."

Slowly the light consumed Ursa, pulsing and growing in a ball too bright to look at, until at last it winked out, leaving a fully grown woman in it's place, no longer quite fitting into her ball attire.

Seeno
Ursa blinked, she grasped her palm and looked carefully. Her hand automatically being forced up to her hair, she ran her fingers through, blinking once more in shock. Adulthood? She remained silent, overcome with a certain mix of disbelief and joy. What a time to transform. She was left without words, just wanted a mirror. "U-u-umh excuse me for a moment." The after effects were fading quickly.

She jumped out of her heels, picked them up, and rushed for the bathroom, a hand up to secure her mask... She pushed open the door and peeked inside, running inside, and startling as her reflection greeted her.

"Wow..." croaking she quickly admired herself without the mask, for a brief moment mind, before slipping it back on.

29th March

Lutra had explored every inch of her room, and there was nothing else to do. She'd have to go out and see what happened, find someone real. And she'd just have to hope that the few voices she'd heard belonged to good fey. Wandering the halls, she found herself outside the library. Books were comforting; she remembered people reading to her, stories about adventure where good always won. She hoped that was true now as she pushed open the door and walked in, running her fingers along the rows of books. She pulled one off the shelf and coughed at the dust, dropping it, then belatedly looked around to see if anyone else was there.

By the time Lutra had glanced around. Ursa had already burst in, row by row she scanned book by book. Picking up one or two from every row, most on health, medicines and herbal stuff; all the things she was interested in, already by this stage she knew most of it, but there were certain things that still amazed her...

She took great pride in making sure they wouldn't be damaged, so after every two or three books, she would put them away on the desk she was about to work on..

Noticing Lutra on one of her trecks to the table, she waved and greeted. "Hello there! I've not seen you around before!" Her smile was gentle.

Lutra froze as she was noticed by the woman. The woman was pretty and seemed nice, so maybe she really was nice. And she was looking at healing books, that seemed nice, too. This was probably safe, then. She stared up into the woman's face.

"I've never seen you either," she said, ignoring the fact that this older fey had probably been around this castle much longer than she. "Who are you? I came to the library in case, well, in case there were bad people around and I could find something to help, but you're not bad are you?" She paused for breath and remembered some of her manners, so she introduced herself. "I'm Lutra."

Ursa beamed and curtseyed, "Wow Lutra, what a pretty name!" Grinning she introduced herself to the little girl, "my names Ursa!" She dropped the books down and moved over to her. "Nonono course I'm not someone bad, but I'm looking for recipes for herbal medicines to help people, when the bad people try to come again, well IF!... I really like to help people as well!" Pausing, she looked down to the books Lutra had.

"What sort of books you looking for? Hey! Maybe I could help you search? I know this library fairly well now~!! "

Lutra smiled-- the lady was nice! Clumsily copying Ursa's curtsey, she said, "Hello miss Ursa. I don't know what to look for. I guess... well, mama always showed me books and I thought if I could find some good ones I could be safe. Like spell books, only I can't do magic yet, but maybe someday. Can you do magic?" She held up the book she was holding, which happened to be a boring old history book. "I want to learn to smith like mama, are there any books like that?"

Her eyes widened at the mention of the bad people returning. "Again? The bad people were here and... and coming back? Are they very scary?"

Ursa smiled back and ran her fingers along the spine of one of two books, before replying, "magic eh? Yup, sure can, don't worry about it, I developed my magic as I grew, I'm sure you will too..." Returning her attension to the books, she began to inspect some certain ones on metals and smithwork.

"Naw! Don't worry about them, if worst comes to worst, they'll have me to attend to their wounds," nodding she pulled down two books, and handed them to Lutra.

"Smithery, a guide"
"Metals and properties"

"Now, these should be quite good to start with, but they might be a bit hard to read. You can always call me to help you, and I'm sure your Mama would help you too!~"

"Wow, what kind of magic can you do?" She hoped she would learn spells someday like the lady said. "Are there lots of good people here? To keep away the bad ones?"

Lutra took the books and held them carefully, determined not to drop these as she had the history tome. She opened one and read a few lines slowly. "They might be a little hard." She paused, determined not to be sad now. "My mama? She's gone, like all the others, isn't she? And that other lady who found me, I don't know where she is now," she added, still fairly confused about that whole episode. "I'm glad you can help me with these, I think I will need help with the bigger words, at least."

"Mostly my magic is just basic stuff, but I have one or two pretty cool things I guess," she shrugged, "yes, the sun court and the moon court, but your far to young to be worrying about that now!" She grinned briefly.

"Ohnono! I meant your Kithain, sorry. I call my Kithain Dad," she shrugged once more and gazed with an interested fashion. "Well.. You could always come round to my chambers sometime, and I'll help you all you want! But you could take those books away first, the pictures might be able to help you huh?"

Lutra almost scowled, but stopped herself. No need to annoy the only person she'd met so far, and a nice person at that-- but she was not too young to know! Big people always seemed to think that she was too little to know important things, she sighed. Oh well. Maybe one of these books would have something about the bad Moon Court. She'd have to explore the library further when no one was here to tell her what she was too little for!

"My... kithain? Is that who that lady was? She's gone now. I don't know where she went. Does everyone have a kithain? Does yours go away a lot, too?" She hadn't even seen that kithain-woman since she was freed from the window-- why wasn't hers around to be called mom and to talk to her? Oh well. She nodded. "I'll try them myself first. Thank you, miss Ursa for helping me!" She looked once more at the books in her arms, then back toward the hall. "Is the castle safe now?" she asked, just to make sure.

Ursa turned around quickly and admired one or two of the books she'd noticed when looking for Lutra's. "Yeah, every fey has a Kithain. Mines is away alot yes, but then again, he was around alot when I was at your age, he just knows that I can take care of myself better now and lead my own life."

"Thats quite alright, you make sure you come around anytime, it'd be a pleasure to see you again." She paused, and giggled, "of course the castles safe, I doubt anything would get past these walls. If it really concerns you, I can walk you back to your chambers?" She felt slightly sorry for the girl, not having a Kithain to be there 24/7 at her age. 'She must get quite lonely,' Ursa thought, stroking her chin, and feeling a tad sorry for her.

"Oh. You're lucky then, I think." Reassured by Ursa's confidence that the castle was safe, she shook her head resolutely. "No, thank you, miss Ursa. I can get back by myself." She forced a smile as she thought of her chambers, empty save for herself. Did everyone else have a nice kithain like Ursa? She shifted the books to carry them more easily.

"I want to take these back now to look at later." She turned to go, then hesitated and looked back. "I'll come visit you later!" Her parting smile was real, not forced at all. If everyone here was like Ursa, there wasn't much to worry about from the bad people, she thought as she headed back to her own chambers.

Muris and Ardea quickly approached the Bear's chambers, the petite mouse shaking her head,
"No, I didn't see his body," she repeated. She was feeling quite a bit better now, though. Ardea's calm logic seemed to have a positive effect on her overly emotional behaviour. Especially now that she had had a few days to come to terms with everything.

Of course, that wouldn't stop the nightmares. She wondered if Ursa might have something to help her sleep better. Well, she'd mention it, anyways.

"Here we are," she knocked politely on the other woman's door, "I'm sure she will be able to help you."
