Amani sighed and rubbed Harabu's cheek once more before settling down next to him. She placed a paw on his for one brief moment, then drew it back and laid her head upon her paws. She closed her eyes and fell into a dream of playing with Chukari.
Unconscious tears leaked out of her eyes as the dream grew dark and the little cheetah disappeared. She was alone, completely alone. And, for once in her life, she hated it.

Harabu woke up and looked at the sleeping lioness by his side. He didn't move nor wake her, just watched her as she cried. He felt a little guilty, he had been such a sweet cub but yet a hatred had slowly emerged and it filled him but there was something there that spread guilt into him, he quickly pushed it aside though and just watched her.

Amani awoke with a start and the feeling of being watched again. She looked up and saw Harabu watching her. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?" she asked softly. There was an odd look in his eyes, something she didn't recognize. She tilted her head to the side slightly. Her cheeks suddenly felt damp and she looked down, putting a paw to one cheek. She must have been crying in her sleep.
The dream came back to her and she shivered. Before she had rather enjoyed her alone time. But that dream... The feeling of being completely and utterly alone... I guess having made friends has changed me... she thought to herself.

Harabu shook his head and said nothing, he decided licking his paws right now would be far more interesting then talking to a slave.

Amani sat up and washed her cheeks of the salty tears the dream had caused. She sat there for a moment, looking down and to the side in thought. She wondered about what to do now; he didn't seem to want to order her around or anything. Maybe she had the wrong idea of the word "slave". Is it just a servent, then? she thought to herself, her mind wandering to the parts of the oasis she had seen in her hunt and in coming to the ruins.
There had been a thick spot off of the hunting trail, that looked like no one had gone through in a long time. Maybe later she would look... Maybe now.
She stood and glanced at him for a short moment. He'd already made it clear he didn't like her talking, and his manner at the moment suggested that he wasn't going to talk to her. She had always been good at reading others, their body language. If he doesn't want me to go, he can tell me so, she thought and walked in the direction of the trail.

He watched her go and let a little chuckle out. "You will see your death down there." He then lapped up some more water and rested some more. It was nice not to have to do anything after all.

Harabu heard what was going on but he had given his warning, it was upto her what mistakes she made now, he didn't care.

After a few minutes of resting, Amani stood and looked at her shoulder. The bleeding had slowed to a near stop and the pain was only a dull throb now. She turned her gaze to the surrounding trees, noticing several pairs of hungry eyes. With a light huff, she left the glade and the carcass to the scavengers, heading back to where she had left Harabu. When she got there, she sat down by the water, licked some of the dried blood from her fur as if it were a common thing, and then leaned down to the water to drink.

"Dont wander much out here, dont want you dead." He didn't move as he spoke for he saw no reason to. She was strange, really strange and needed to be dealt with really! He would let Nyek break her in though.

She straightened up and sighed. In the least he could have been a little sympathetic. But no, he had to go make a snide remark like that. "I can take care of myself, don't worry about that," she said, cleaning the rest of the blood from her shoulder. But she had learned a lesson for her experience and she would think twice about letting her guard down in the future.

"I would doubt that by the amount of blood on you" He then started to lick his paws. No emotion showed in his stance or voice. He was content and tired but still he cared not for many or much.

"And yet I am still alive. I think the lesson learned is worth the pain," Amani replied, working to get the snake's blood from her paws. Looking back, she realized that throughout the battle, not once had she really been losing. The reptile had bit her but once which opened a previous wound making it seem worse and it only bruised her side in its death throws, not breaking anything. Though it had surprised her, she had always had the upper hand.

Harabu smiled and licked his paw in a second he jumped up and pounced at the femme, pinning her down he had an evil smirk on his maw. "You should be more careful. Things can surprise you." He snarled happily.

A bolt of pain lanced through Amani as he pressed the bruises on her side. She let out a short cry of pain, but did not cry. And she lashed out at him as best she could from her position, however her claws were sheathed. "I will not let my guard down again!" she hissed.
