Well that's the thing about it. Gabby ended up realizing the ideals must be changed and given up as one grows older and wants to protect the world.

but she still didnt realleh get any stronger! gonk she did more impressive stuff but she still got beat an kidnapped just as much as she used too an had xena doing extra work whee so ther realleh waznt any point in it! she just got more annoying an less funny gonk

I liked her a lot in season 6. I don't recall her getting captured as much in that one. smile Sure, she got herself into trouble in Legacy and The Abyss, but that was due to guilt over an accident (trying not to give away spoilers for those who haven't watched). But, I think the changes in her were definitely evident in To Helicon and Back. She kicked butt, she was able to make difficult choices for the good of the Amazons, and she could be reasoned with when she was making a wrong decision. Definitely traits of a strong character.
Sure, she may have bitten off more than she could chew in Path of Vengeance, but she still managed to kick butt against someone that had been trained by the Amazons, Ares, and a little bit by Xena. How many people can say that? Well... I guess 0 real people... And I'm not going to discuss her strength of character in AFIN because... well... it's AFIN. Who WANTS to discuss that?
As for comedy, just look at Many Happy Returns. She's pretty funny in that one. I don't usually watch the comedies that much though, so I can't think of any more. Maybe her lack of comedic genius when she has short hair is why she couldn't make Lachrymose laugh in Punch Lines. biggrin

but she didnt make good choices in helicon! gonk she made bad choices! an she lost control that made her all depressed again whee an she had A LOT happen teh her in deh hauntin of amphipolis gonk
she got kidnapped in send in deh clones!
she got kidnapped in deh ring trilogy too! 3nodding she waznt in danger but she still got kidnapped! gonk
im not countin when fates collide tho 3nodding
an in deh abyss she still did get kidnapped gonk just cuz she spaced out for a second dont change much! 3nodding an she has WAY more emotional problems in season 6 xp

Whee! Arguing a season that I haven't seen in... a very long time.
Season 5 Gabrielle was... well... She definitely wasn't my favorite. Still cute, though. smile A little more tough, but still cute with the shaggy hair and ... getting off topic. I'll save season 5 for later.
She did make good choices in To Helicon. There may have been choices that she didn't like (feeding the wounded, nearly dead lady to the shark; sending Bruntere ahead of them at the beach to draw fire) but Gabrielle has been about the greater good since season one and at that point she was looking out for the greater good of her tribe.
I haven't seen the Haunting one in a long time, but if I remember right, she did keep having bad things happen to her. So, point there because I can't remember anything to argue against. I'll come back when I watch it again. smile
I don't remember her being kidnapped in The Ring trilogy. I do remember her being very brave/stupid and going after Xena to help her. I do remember her convincing a Valkyrie that there was no way she was going to win her love through violence. And while she was surrounded by a flame and sleeping because of the same lady, I don't think that counts as kidnapping. I mean, the lady only did it because Xena lost her memory and needed to keep the ring out of the wrong hands.
Send in the Clones. Okay, I'm pretty sure Xena would have gotten captured there too. One: Doesn't really know about the time she's in. Two: The cops have guns. Even Xena wouldn't be able to move fast enough to get out of the way of bullets.
The Abyss is definitely one of my favorite episodes of Season 6. As for the kidnapping thing, Xena set that up so that they would heal her. So don't blame Gabrielle for that little party in the hut with little ol' Virgil and Rubio.
As for the whole emotional problems thing... That just comes with getting older. Just imagine how many problems she would have had if they continued the show after AFIN. lol.

naw gabby always wanted teh help EVEYBODY in deh beginnin an not let anybody die 3nodding she tryed teh be good in helicon i guess..... it just didnt seem like she knew whut she waz doing xp

Az, will we ever see eye-to-eye on an issue/character?
In Helicon, she was thrown into a position without warning. She told Xena to take command in the beginning but the women would only follow an Amazon. Given the brief amount of time she had to prepare, I think she did well. Nobody to Bellerophon would have catapults (that were so accurate, too!) so I can't really blame her for that. Given the circumstances, I think she did alright. And she was able to admit that she was wrong with some harsher decisions too and followed the advice given to her.
Yeah, I remember the Haunting one being good. I love when she gets pulled under the floor. I think that definitely was a blonde moment there. 'Ooh. Let's look at the face on the floor of this house that seems to be haunted.' I can't defend that action unless I blame it on human curiosity. Haha. I just didn't really like the Heart of Darkness one after it. Eve was too whiny in it. lol.
Ah. See, it's been a while since I've seen a lot of season 6. I didn't remember the horse thing. On the up side, in season 6 she didn't have a knife at her neck every episode. smile But again, she was fighting and ended up convincing Valkyrie woman that killing Xena wouldn't prove her love.
As for the getting stabbed thing, that ties into the emotional problems caused by Legacy. She was still feeling guilty and just had a flash back at the most inopportune of moments. Before that though, she was still kicking a**. And in the end, she did get over it.
I like the older grown up her and the younger her. I mean, you can't get older and stay the same. Life is too full of twists and turns to keep you the same. It's how you change that matters. Looking back on season 6 and seeing how it ends, it totally looks like that whole season was about developing Gabrielle into a warrior that could equal Xena but still have a large well of character by putting her through everything they did. smile

xena didnt realleh change that much from deh beginnin besides likin gabby more 3nodding but she waz already done with all her whuteverin 3nodding i just didnt like deh way they made gabby grow up tho gonk ish not like they just added stuff on they changed her completely! gonk an realleh fast!
i never realleh think of a season about just 1 thing whee
