Hobbies:

Computers and Programming - Melvin is tech savvy, skilled with computers all around. For a while, he taught programming and computer science courses, and he still carries that knowledge with him. He even gives informal lessons at times. His projects these days are simpler than they used to be, but he regards the topic of technology fondly.

The Word Around Town - Melvin loves to hear those little whispers of goings-on, whether they're rumors, invitations, or overheard conversations. He's not one to spread gossip, but he believes any little kernel of information may have a lead to something interesting buried in it. As a bartender, he is in a prime position to hear these things. He's not exactly an investigator, but he collects trivia like it's little gold kernels.

Virtues: These are positive aspects about your character's personality that affects them on a daily basis. Nurturing - Melvin is a soft, cozy sort, notorious for "dadding" people at virtually every opportunity. That means helping people up when they're feeling down and helping them to stay up. Sometimes nagging is involved, but he really does want the best for those around him. People sometimes need a little extra push to take care of themselves, and he's willing to provide that.

Attentive - Melvin is an active, responsive listener. He pays attention to people's explicit and implied needs and attends to both of them. He also has an excellent memory for people's preferences, and will cater to them if they come to the bar when he's there.

Reads Between the Lines - Melvin is very good at reading people's true feelings, whether it's through little gestures or verbal cues. He's skilled at reading body language and inferring what people are referring to from context, and he tends to surprise people by "reading their mind." For him, it's just a matter of paying attention to context and cues.

Flaws: Second verse, same as the first. Overbearing - Sometimes Melvin goes a little far in his attempts to do what's best for people. He might step up the nagging to an almost forceful point if someone is refusing to do something that they really should do, or he'll step into the middle of a situation that doesn't involve him. His fatherly persona becomes like a caricature in these states and does him no favors.

Coddling - Melvin will sugarcoat things if he feels someone can't take the truth. The result isn't a straight up lie so much as an omission of the negatives. He wants people to feel happy and at peace, so if there's no room for his nudging, he'll play the role of ideal parent for them and just about spoil them with care. This tendency leads to issues not being handled as they should be.

Avoidant - If Melvin is nervous about something, he will avoid it at all costs. Cue procrastination, convenient distractions, and every other trick in the book to avoid discussing or approaching the matter that's unsettling him. He takes his personal comfort very seriously and anything that makes him uncomfortable is escaped from, period.

Challenge: I'll explain it in a way you can all understand.

Uniform:

I have ideas for some colors (mostly galaxy trim) but right now I can't figure out how the Cosmos Pastel Rainbow works, so uh... we'll get there when we get there. Placement of symbols is going to be up to artist discretion unless I figure something out.

Kind of staring at Mucha and being like... how does this style work on a man...

Top -- Thigh-length traditional side-fastened coat? Shorter? Longer? Exposed undershirt? Cropped? Buttons? Toggles? Shoulderpads? Long sleeves, or short sleeves? Sleeves at all? What's the collar like? Could even be a dress? You are generally as basic as it gets here and should be something you can be very active in.

The top is... kind of like a tunic? Like the hybrid of a suit and a tunic. It's got sleeves but also maybe a sash or belt of some sort? Keep in mind that Sama is a bit tubby so like... try and flatter him somehow.

Bottoms -- This is a big one. I want to make a masculine play on the popular split skirt style for Cosmos Knights. The "skirt" portion should have the galaxy accents/trim. I was going to suggest galaxy print trousers or something but that may be too much.
Gloves -- Up to artist.
Belt -- Some kind of thick sash.
Shoes -- Boots?

Hobbies:
Theatre - Ari got involved in theatre in high school and college, although they weren’t much good at it they loved the atmosphere. They enjoy going to local shows, helping out the high schools and colleges with local productions, and meeting other theatre nerds.

Media - They’re an avid consumer of various media, especially Youtubers. They wish they were more charismatic so they could be a professional vlogger as well, but they’re just as happy as a consumer and marketer for people and products they enjoy. They were a social media manager for a few different businesses while they were in college which gave them a perfect boost into Argent Industries after they graduated.

Math - Ari considers themself a bit of a mathematician, and they love to crunch numbers. They considered a future in finance or accounting, but preferred the amount of human contact in Marketing. They’re rather number-savvy and good whenever you need to check sums.

Virtues:

Vigilant -- Ari is a very careful person. They don’t like to make mistakes, and are always on the lookout for danger and difficulties. The sooner a problem is noticed, the easier it is to fix the problem. It’s much safer to check twice than to run the risk of someone getting hurt.

Graceful -- Ari comes across as a very well-put together person. They are rather self-assured despite a meek-looking appearance, and know how appearances can be everything, especially when it comes to media. For media, Ari manages social medias and knows how to use images and their words to make something seem appealing and exciting. Personally for Ari, they are able to keep composure even under extreme stress, and they work to be sure their physical appearance is pleasant and appropriate at all times. They handle social situations well, and know what to do or say to save face.

Flaws:

Performative -- Ari likes to put on a bit of a show. Their emotions and actions aren’t quite as real as they like to make them out to be, but they certainly make sure everyone knows how they’re feeling when they want the attention. They’re a bit fake, and it shows at times.

Demanding -- They are a bit selfish and can be quite demanding when it comes to asking others to do what they would like. If the deadline is firm to them - then it is firm and no amount of begging will change their mind on the matter.

Gardening - Look Gardening can be manly. You can't tell him different. Besides it also reminds him of his grandparents. Especially his grandma. When he was small and visiting her he would sometimes spend time with her in her garden. He would help her plant all kinds of plants. Bell peppers, cucumber, mangos and ackee and naseberry, and many other Jamaican fruits and other fruits and vegetables. He gotten InTouch with the his grandma's land and learned how to nurture and care for it.

Spades Jaumar grew up playing Dominos and Spades. Loved playing them. But if he had to pick Spades is his favorite game. Family gatherings would almost always end with Spades being played. He would get all hot over a game of spades. Spades is NOT a game! It’s LIFE!

Suspiousl A thing he picked up growing up. Placing his trust in people was something he decided wasn't a wise thing to do. With trust comes lies, betrayal, broken promises and he has no need for any of those. He's always wary of of what hidden intentions lie beneath the surface of people's words/action.

Indecisive: Jaumar has a slight problem of making decisions. And would prefer if someone else makes them for him. Sometimes he just can't think or decide between the easiest things.

Social Media —- Nina likes to keep on top of what’s happening, communicating with a vast number of friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers alike through the wonder that is internet-based social networking. She enjoys sharing her own opinions on everything from political events to what pizza place is the best one in the city, likes reading others’ opinions, enjoys burying her nose in that cute cat video she’s seen a dozen times already… in short, she’s a child of the technological age, and embraces it in a way that gives her hours of enjoyment. (Besides, the looks on people’s faces when she unapologetically drops memes into conversation can be so much fun.)

Violin —- This hobby wasn’t initially something Nina was particularly interested in; she picked up the violin not out of her own choice but because her parents thought their daughter, just turned eight, needed to learn an instrument to be well-rounded. Naturally, she protested… until she learned that people made violin covers of her favorite anime theme songs, and that there was a lot more to offer than classical music. From there she threw herself into the hobby, and almost a decade later she’s fairly proficient. … She still prefers to mostly practice covers of theme songs and video game music, but hey, she enjoys herself (and it’s always fun when someone recognizes what she’s playing.)

Cosplay —- Like most teenagers, Nina has a lot of things she loves, from movies to anime to video games, but it’s how she engages with those interests that defines her hobbies. And one of her favorite things to do is cosplay. Meticulously recreating costumes of villains and heroes alike, down to the last detail, getting to mode the final products with other like-minded individuals, even getting to play pretend, just for a little while… it’s fun, and while she knows it’s something of a niche hobby, she doesn’t really care if it marks her as a nerd to other people. It lets her feel creative and confident, and that’s all that really matters.

Virtues:

Disciplined - Nina is the sort of person that thrives in a structured environment. Hard work and clear schedules give her a guideline to follow, and she’s more than willing to stick to them even outside of direct supervision. Far from the type of student who takes the first chance given to either slack off or do their own thing, Nina will stick to what’s expected: she’s the type of person to use free study periods to actually study, rather than a quiet period to do anything but study. She’ll do homework before she allows herself to do anything fun, and if something’s set up as a routine she’ll stick to it, such as being the one to take her dog, Alexander, to the dog park every Saturday or keeping her personal space spotless even at home. She isn’t going to slip up or put something off just because she doesn’t feel like doing it; if it needs to be done, it needs to be done, and there will be time to play later.

Enduring - Sometimes your effort isn’t going to pay off immediately, and Nina is well aware of that fact. She’s perfectly fine with waiting and continuing on at whatever pace she needs to; if she doesn’t necessarily understand a subject on the first readthrough, she doesn’t get angry or frustrated—- she just keeps working at it and tries to find a way to make it click. Instant fulfillment is all well and good, but there’s no point in getting upset just because you haven’t gotten something you were promised yet. You will get it eventually, so long as you work hard enough. This applies to people, too—- she won’t get frustrated with someone making honest mistakes, and she’s willing to put up with a certain amount of less than intelligent behavior; she’s more than willing to spend hours with a friend, helping them with some aspect of their homework that they can’t quite get. So long as a person isn’t being actively hostile to her, she’ll let a lot slide.

Confident - Some people are easily upset, or have fragile self-esteem. Not Nina. She’s intelligent and she knows it, pretty and she knows it, and she’s here to take on the world. She’s not afraid to take a chance because failure doesn’t scare her: she knows who she is, what she wants, and what she’s willing to do to get it. While other people might agonize about a test, she’s not worried: she’ll give it her best effort, and because she tried that will be enough. With self-assurance to spare, Nina knows she can do whatever she wants, and doesn’t need anyone else to prop her up or congratulate her. She’s more than enough as she is, and can bounce back from nearly any setback that’s thrown her way.

Flaws:

Entitled - The problem with being relatively patient, disciplined, and confident, is that Nina tends to think that she should get what she wants… because she wants it. The world can and will bend to her whims (or at least her persistent effort), and if it doesn’t? Well, that’s just because someone hasn’t gotten the message yet. She can and will get downright nasty if it seems like she’s being overlooked for someone less deserving, or when she gets a B when she was sure her essay was worth an A. She puts the work in, after all, and thus she should be rewarded. She deserves to have nice things, to get good grades, to be appreciated, and if she doesn’t get them then she’ll retreat somewhere private to sulk until the initial offense has subsided a little —- and woe betide anyone who approaches her before she can manage to calm down, because they’re likely to get an earful about what she should have gotten, what she deserved, and will be treated to whatever ideas she can come up with to try to make things ‘right’ again.

Possessive - Nina’s things are hers and you can’t have them. You can’t have them, you can’t touch them, and if you look at them the wrong way she will make sure you know that she’s watching you just in case you decide to try anything funny. As the only daughter in a house full of boys (four of them, in fact, all older than her), she grew up a bit babied and over-indulged. Despite her parents’ best efforts to make sure she learned the value of hard work and of sharing, it seems like only the first one stuck. Her older brother Nicholas stealing half of her My Little Ponies when she was six and setting up a battle royale with them (resulting in their destruction) might have something to do with this. She doesn’t trust people not to want to take her things, nor does she trust them to make their way back to her in any kind of good condition. She’s not the person you ask to borrow so much as a pencil from, because even if she loans it to you, you’ll feel her eyes on you throughout the entire class period, watching you to make sure you don’t damage or leave with her things.

Confrontational - If Nina doesn’t agree with you, she has no problem with telling you so. If she thinks your opinion is bad, she’ll flat-out say it. To your face. In words that aren’t always nice. While she’s willing to put up with annoying behavior or natural struggles, she doesn’t take well to misinformation or misdirection, and direct insults are something she cannot simply let lie. Upset her, and she’ll let you know —- usually by upsetting you right back, typically with barbed words or tripping you when you pass by. She isn’t afraid to get into a fight, be it physical or verbal, and while she doesn’t take this to a degree that would get her in actual trouble in school, she’s burned her fair share of friendships both online and in real life through arguments and ‘callouts’.
