Cocking her head to the side, Lena found herself oddly, well, hopeful. "A motorcycle? So what does a girl have to do to get a ride?" Okay, so she'd never been on one and would love to go...if it wasn't a harley.

“Well, for starters you have to be this tall…” He said and raised his hand to his own head level, glanced at her, grinned, and then dropped it to her own height. “And You’ll need to adjust the helmet to make sure it fits, or I’ll have to get an extra spare..after that, dress to be comfortable with a lot of wind and an eternal potential that something might drive us to road rash.” “And you don’t get to razz on me about the color of the bike.” He grinned. “Or I should say colors because it’s a bit of a custom paint job. But that’s all I’m sharing till you meet my noble steed.”

When he teased her about the height, Lena faked kicking him in the back of the knee to make him shorter. Maybe once they had known each other a while longer.... "So it's white and red." She teased, rolling her eyes as if of course she expected that. "Careful if I show up with a can of spray paint after all this." Would she? Heck no. Water-based paint that came off easily? Maybe. "But, the good news about all of this is..." Lena started to say until the woman from behind the counter caught her eye. She was standing there, politely waiting and watching them. With a smile, Lena nodded towards her. "So sorry to distrub you both but..." She begun, glancing at each of them and nodding happily at the outfit Tom was wearing. "But I was wondering if you were wrapping up with the dressing rooms? My apologies for asking but we have a few people asking if they could slip in." She motioned towards the front desk where two women stood.

“Ah! yeah sorry!” Tom ducked his head and rubbed the back of his neck in apology before gathering up what he’d be taking, and handing back what he wouldn’t be. “Let’s hit the counter, and you can keep your spray paint away from my bike! White and red -are- components I admit, but it’s no more basic than having a black one or one of the acid green numbers I occasionally see thank you!.” He stuck out his tongue as he headed towards the registers. “And you can tell me the good news about it all, as we cash out… sound good?”

"Oh it's nothing big." Lena offered, giving the woman an apologetic look as she glanced around really quickly to grab that shirt she had been eying. Even if she hadn't tried it on, she wasn't going to leave empty-handed now that she felt bad. Making her way to the counter, she shot a look at the women waiting, including a polite and apologetic smile as she offered the woman her credit card. She waited until Tom was checking out to add. "Just that trying to avoid road rash means I get an excuse to wear my leather pants more often."

“Oh good! At least I don’t have to take you shopping for those!” he grinned after a brief pause that might have been him thinking about leather pants. “Honestly, I think they have more merit than Khakis.” “That said, I also feel like corsets should be more common, and we should make more of a push for people to dress as they want, rather than the hold out that people should ‘dress their age’.”

"Oh you can take me shopping for more if you like. I don't mind." Lena teased, flipping her hair over her shoulder like a teenager flirting horribly as they finished at the register. Her entire body though bristled as he said the horrible 'dress their age' comment leaving Lena to turn back around dawning her best cheeky smile. "Tom, dear, look who you are talking to. I'm a twenty-four-year-old lady with purple hair and loud make-up working for NASA. People who tell me to tone it down and jump off a bridge because I will work circles around them all while covered in glitter body paint if I have to." "So if you want to wear the corset to buy milk, wear the corset to buy milk love."

“Exactly!” He nodded. “I tend to start wearing when I see fashion articles crop up, I know they aren’t common, but that anyone feels like they have a right to dictate that, it's like trying to tell someone they shouldn’t wear a skirt because you don’t like how they look in it.” He rolled his eyes. “I know it used to be so much more common too but, we’re better than that as a society, and I for one am ENORMOUSLY grateful. But also, more people should embrace galaxy colors in their hair, to work space-themed jobs... I mean really, its just a missed opportunity otherwise. Space buns should happen, at least once... on principle."

"Space buns have happened." Lena grinned thinking back to the time she had her hair up in two orbs on her head and gone to work that way. Part of her loved the fact that she could catch her coworkers off guard by her appearance and then put them through the paces with her work ethic. Part of her also hated her supervisors when they got annoyed at her more colorful style. Can't win them all. "It's also fun to remind people that men wore heels long before women did."

“You’d really think that would be more obvious than it is… I mean people with chicken legs need all the help they can get.” he quipped. “But also I love the look on people’s faces when they learn that Victorians were way more into body piercings than people want to admit. We like to think of them as utter prudes but…” He shrugged and grinned. "But also...good! I knew you were my kind of people!"

"Repressed is the word I think you are looking for." Lena smiled but she took a moment to think about what he said. "Were they really that into body piercing? I mean it shouldn't surprise me but the idea of how they would do such a thing and the lack of hygiene..." The entire thing made Lena shiver. "I'll all for a little pain but no infection!"

“They apparently really were, apparently it was shown off as a sort of ‘high class’ things to do, and it was even touted to make it easier when you had to nurse your children. Not everyone approved mind you, but it was a thing! They even had some ah… interesting ways to treat them and keep the corsets from rubbing according to at least one account!” He grinned, happy to have shared the history of something he cared about.

"Really?" Lena's arms went across her chest, squeezing her boobs a moment at the idea not of having them pierced but of a little goblin sucking on them. "Ow." "I'm not sure I could do that so my hats off to them for doing so. What did they use as decor? After all, metal or cheap plastics weren't around yet, to my knowledge at least." She reached out and tapped her own earrings. "Or do I want to know?"

“Gold for the most part, at least as far as I’ve looked into it. Just one more thing to prove that they could I suppose.” He mused. “Probably for the best since silver can have wildly differing nickel content, even if it's flagged sterling!”

"And you wonder why we at NASA use gold foil." Lena smiled just as her phone went off again. With a look down at the screen, she sighed and silenced it. "Sorry about that." But before she could say more, it went off again. With a pleading look, she glanced at Tom and answered the phone. Before she could even get a hello out, the other side started talking. Holding the phone a few inches from her ears, she looked at Tom in disbelief. "I think I need to go rescue my brother." She sighed, glancing at the phone and her mother's name. "Seems he lied about where he lost his keys..."
