Hey, just to let everyone know, this thread has been stickied because I've noticed a lot of threads asking specific questions, then the questions are answered, then no one ever posts in the thread again. Hopefully this way we'll get less crowding of unneeded extra threads and more questions answered in this thread. ^^

Hey, can anyone tell me a bit about Shizuka's surname?
I've heard on some websites that "Kawa" was her mother's maiden name, but on other sites, it's said that ther mum remarried and Shizuka took on her stepdad's surname....
So, basically, what I'm asking is; Did Shizuka's mum remarry, or is Shizuka using her maiden name? Any help is much appriciated, it would help me a lot with the fanfic I'm writing. 3nodding

Well, I'm pretty sure there is nothing that mentions her having a stepfather. Shizuka uses Kawai as her last name... but I'm not sure whose it is. I'm pretty sure it is her mother's though. ^^

From what I've come to understand on this topic, you've pretty much got it Akila. XD;; In the manga and second series anime she is called "Kawai Shizuka" (though in the first series anime she is called "Jounouchi Shizuka") so she obviously has a different sur name than her brother. It never mentions anything about her mother remarrying, but it also never denies it, so it's kind of up to the individual to decide whether they think that "Kawai" is the mother's maiden name or another man's sur name. I personally believe that Shizuka's mother remained single after the divorce and that Kawai is her maiden name, but I have no way to prove that.
And yes, welcome to the guild! X3 I can see you're obviously a Shizuka fan. She's one of my favorite characters. <3

And I know, she's so cute! X3 Actually, I heard (forgot where from) that Shizuka's sur name is a play on the word "kawaii," which is "cute" in Japanese. XD;; It definitely suits her, though that could just be something a fan made up. I should look up the kanji. o.o Well, the kanji for "Kawai" and "Kawaii" are completely different, but it still could be a play on the sounds the kanji make at least.

You think he could've pulled that hair off back before the times of gel and dye? Obviously it is a wig, gosh. razz Nah, just kidding. I think Takahashi Sensei just didn't have it in him to make his main character bald.
