The further into the mountain pass they got – the more grateful she was for her dense coat. This didn't make sense. The pawprints were huge – claw marks deep. But the small teeth left room for doubt. The fur, tooth and prints were all without a doubt wolf – and from what she'd heard in passing happening to Maske; grabbed by her muzzle and face, shaken like a predator does to break the neck, and then thrown...
Green eyes.
The scent of blood hit her like a wave and her lips rose in a snarl. Another kill. As they crested the hill and before her was the carcass of – what was it? It was large, the paws huge, tail long, but the muzzle was short, ears rounded. A cat. A Puma. This thing had made it nearly unrecognizable, but the smell jogged her memory and a vague sense of nostalgia rose to the surface – she must have known one in her past.
She looked around – maybe she should get closer. They might find clues around the body. New prints, some indicator that the killer was near. They hadn't been far behind – how had they not heard the fight?
What the heck was this?

The others with her seemed just as hesitant as she was – while she suspected there might be information to be found on the body, she didn't want to risk losing their prey because the body was a distraction. What if the tooth was smaller because it's a wolf feeding it's young? she mused, maybe they're carrying a pup. But then, why attack a wolf? Perhaps she got too close to where they were hiding... There were so many questions – so much to piece together still.
Deciding that approaching the body indirectly was the best idea, she lowered her head and began to walk in a slow, loose circle around the body, searching for an indicator their quarry was distracting them and had fled in a different direction, the less she found, the tighter her circle became, slowly she would work her way closer, if none took a more direct approach.
When another wolf found the trail leading up into the mountains, Einarr abandoned the tooth he'd found in favor of waking beside Silke. She'd been quiet, but he chalked that up to her being afraid. Honestly, he was too. He would continue to be brave, however, for his mate.
When they got to the mountain and spotted the corpse of the lion, Einarr moved to her other side, placing himself between Silke and the decaying beast. Someone else could look at it, while Einarr could spare Silke of seeing something vile, or so he hoped.

Gold Rush is the one to investigate!
Closer inspection shows something odd - is the dead body... still moving? No, there's something huddled against it, and quiet sobbing can be heard.
It's a wolf dog pup! The poor thing is clearly terrified, but before anyone can say anything to her, her eyes go wide and she screams, trying desperately to hide herself further into the carcass as if to get away from something....
A menacing snarl echoes through the mountain pass as a hulking form comes out from the shadows. It's a berserker, one with dark fur and piercing red eyes... and fresh blood matted through his fur.
We have found our target.

Here is the list of tickets gained during this first round! Erina_Nobara gets an extra ticket as well for being our roll winner.
There's very little time to think as the berserker charges at the group with clear intent to kill. It's time to attack!
This is the final round! To fight, roll two (2) 100-sided dice. The first roll is how much damage you did to him. The second roll is how much he blocked that damage. If he blocks all of it, it's a miss entirely!
A few notes:
- After rolling once, please wait 30 minutes before trying to attack again, to give others a chance at it too. You can roll again even if no one else has posted after you.
- Each person who participates will get one extra ticket into the raffle, and the one who manages to land the final blow will get one more additional ticket on top of that.
- This round does not have an end time. It will stay open until the berserker is defeated.
- I will try to keep up with posting an update on his health bar as he takes damage, but know that if he hits 0, the fight is over and the one who landed the last blow gets the extra ticket.
- Don't forget that your roll posts need to have rp responses in them! Length doesn't matter, but they do need something in them to count.
- A reminder to make sure you mention at the top of your post what character is actually in the round. You can rp multiple characters, but only one of them will actually be the "player" in the round.
Her movement came without much thought - as soon as she heard the sobbing of the puppy she was on alert - those little green eyes broke her heart. So afraid - the snarl ripped through her like a clap of thunder and she lunged to put herself between the bodies; of the carcass and the puppy, and the oncoming threat.
The berserker was massive - by the scent rolling off of him she knew he was the killer. There was no time to ask questions or ponder. She crouched, her body tense and ready to attack. When he came too near for her liking she darted forward and snapped her jaws, snarling and spinning back into her defensive position.
Was this a trap? Was he using the puppy as bait? Was he attacking because he was protecting the pup? The carcasses before Maske had been small. There were so many unknown variables. Stepping back so her body was directly above the puppy, she dug in her claws and stood firm.
"It's going to be okay." She said softly, her head lowered and her body poised and ready for potential attack or impact.
The sounds of sobbing reached Beowulf's ears as it seemed that there was someone or something huddling close to the dead body. Though before he could open his mouth to say anything, a low snarl echoed after the scream from the huddled mass. Head whipped around, he took in the larger wolf that appeared out of almost no where.
Leaping back from the larger wolf, Beowulf launched himself forward to place himself between them and the whimpering pup. He had noticed what it really was when he moved closer. Taking a chance he reached out to attack the larger wolf's leg, thinking perhaps it would slow them down... Though it did put him in slashing reach in the process too.
The puppy was a surprise, but the Berserker that came into view moments later was even more startling. Hel gave a yip if warning as he came charging in, heart heart sinking as she realized her hopes of the killer being something other than a Berserker were sniffed out. No matter - all species could have bad apples. If it were just her Hel might have tried to talk, but there was too much evidence stacked against him.
As he surged forward Hel tried to get in a n**, but he was too fast.
Others were jumping to action now and she was glad. She kept between him and the pup as the others attacked. She snapped her teeth and dated at him any time he got too close. If he came in reach avoiding the others, she'd attempt to sink her teeth into him or slash at him with readied claws - but she did not move from towering over the pup.
Her place would not be relinquished without force - she might not remember who she used to be, where she came from, how she ended up where she'd been, but she knew that something in her cried - no - Roared as every instinct to protect burned like a fire inside her.
Beowulf broke away as those around him were also making attempts at attacking the Beserker. Shaking his head as the others didn't seem to be having much luck landing a hit. Slinking to the side, Beowulf watched the beserker before leaping at its side to attack again. Hoping to tear a bit of its hid off and cause better damage then before. He would only hope that all this wears the beserker down to just go away...

The Berserker was quick! Even though a good number of the pack were attacking he’d barely taken a scratch! Hel tried to snap at his hind leg as his attention was diverted to Beowulf, but she missed again. Drat!
The situation didn't look great. There were enough of them to keep him distracted, but he was strong, and massive, and he'd proven that if he got close enough to get ahold of one of them, they could be in dire straits.
Her heart pounded, she crouched over the puppy. "Don't be scared, it's going to be okay. We won't let you get hurt." she spoke to the puppy, trying to keep the focus off of what was going on around them.
"Can you speak? Do you have a name, little one?" Out of the corner of her eye she saw him move to avoid an attack from a striped male and she lashed out with a hind leg, missing him with her rear claws, making her lips curl up in annoyance.
The work had been hard, and she had been disheartened by her lack of help. Her nose and eyes were sending her on fool's trails, but the pack worked in unity and found this - a berserker.
Her eyes narrowed and all parts of her tensed. Hackles raised, fur up her spine bristling, both in as much anger as it was fear. Aldusa wasn't a fool to think that this couldn't end poorly. If she was asked later on she'd compare it to her life flashing before her eyes. Still she, along with her pack mates, faced the devil head on.
Her attack was well structured and a good show of how they had been trained. Aldusa didn't fumble, didn't stray, but weaved as necessary to avoid an assault. In her heart of hearts she knew she wouldn't come out of this unscathed, and that knowledge was a comfort as she went straight for the beast.
Beowulf had been shaken off as a couple others replaced him. Shaking the fur from his mouth, he was sure he would be tasting this Beserker for ages unless he found something to cleanse his pallet. Spitting out a couple strands, Beowulf had thought of leaping into the fray again before something shoved him backwards. Seems he would have to find another point of attack. But at least others were starting to get through the Beserker's tough hide and powerful swipes.
