Tch, there's a thick mess of it ahead! Hinburath warned his rider. This was going to be bad. Their bulk helped prevent the wind from blowing them around too badly, but it wrecked havoc among the Thread. The brown roared as it scored along his haunches. He quickly took them Between to kill it, then returned. How are you doing? Do you want to keep going or rest? They had been fighting for awhile now. No, I'm fine for now.
Round 1: Hour 1 Rolls
1. 3: As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on. 2. 11: A clump of Thread catches you on your leg. You quickly hop Between, easing the sting of the burn. It hurts, but you're going to fight through the pain. Healers can wait. +1 Pain Resilience 3. 6: As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formation!
If less than 22 feet, you get blown out of formation, but are agile enough to avoid getting hit with Thread. Hurry now -- better make it back before your Wingleader scolds you!
If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up straining a muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP
If 36'-46', you're able to fight the wind with relative ease. Unfortunately, the nearby Threadfall gets blown into your side and haunches -- and you were too big to move out of the way. Ouch! Moderate Damage -8 HP 4. 7: This is such a mess! Thread is everywhere. The High Altitude Wing is always in the thick of it, and today is no exception.
If you are a bronze, brown, or blue 30' or larger you find yourself getting hit by the wildly blown Thread! Moderate Damage: -6 HP!
If you are a green, or blue smaller than 30' you're easily able twist and wheel out of the way of the thick clumps. Instead, you're able to flame down a patch of Thread threatening your wingmates, and what a burst of flame it is! Quote a Wingmate who took Thread Damage and nullify it for this Round! +2 Flame Length 5.
BURNING ACES C'asta of Green Chiareth HP: 12/24 Status Effect: Painful - 3 turns XP: Target Accuracy: 7 Flame Length: 6 General Stamina: 5 General Agility: 6 Between Accuracy: 6 Pain Resilience: 5 Instinct: 6 +2! Luck: 5 +2!

Blasted all! As you jump Between to avoid a clump of Thread, the winds change, and when you appear from the icey depths, it's right into a major sheet of Thread! Heavy Damage: -8 HP! They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).
They hadn't gotten out of the thicker sheets yet, and soon enough, they were the ones having to fall back to avoid being hit--Chiareth jumped between to avoid a particularly dense knot, almost breathing a sigh of relief when she wasn't suddenly beset with pain. Half a second later, they were back, and--burning. She screamed as that same clump she'd avoided twisted around to catch her in the side, wrapping around her legs--in the brief moment they'd been between, the winds had changed, and they had no way to compensate for that. A sharp pang of fear shot through C'asta as they went between once more, the seconds ticking by until they were sure all the thread clinging to them was gone. Chia-- Hurts. It--it hurts, okay? C'asta's heart skipped a beat at the pain in her voice, the fear settling in and turning into pure dread. I... I'll be alright. We can keep this up.
Burning Aces Wing Ly’bur of Brown Hinburath HP: 24-5= 19/34 Status Effect: Fatigue Effect x3

The wind was draining. It was a slow sapping drain. Hinburath thought he was doing well until a strong gust threw him completely from formation and he found he was too tired to stop it. He heard the other dragons give warning, but he didn't really care.

A strong wind took the pair by surprise, sending them tumbling down and out of formation. Librath snarled as the strain of fighting the wind sapped her of her energy, and the return to position was a slow one. A'kir knew much more of this and they'd be returning to the Weyr to heal up and thankfully in this state Librath probably wouldn't argue with him.

2. A clump of Thread falls right before you! Unfortunately, the wind pushes you and the Thread away from one another. With determination, you fight the wind, trying valiantly to get to the great enemy! You hop Between, hoping to get closer, and flame the Threads that threaten to fall through! Roll a D4 to see if you successfully Between! 2. 2. Success! You appear close to your target and are able to flame it down successfully! [+1 Between Accuracy]
This time when they jumped Between to chase down Thread they were successful, despite Librath's exhaustion. They flamed down the Thread beautifully and even though she was tired, Librath took a bit of pride in the fact that she kept pushing. A'kir's pride shone through his trepidation and he gave her shoulder a little pat as they returned to formation. They just had to hang tough, they had this.
BURNING ACES Sam’kel of Blue Kinitarth HP:23/23 Status Effect: XP: Target Accuracy: 20 Flame Length: 6 General Stamina: 8 General Agility: 12 Between Accuracy: 9 Pain Resilience: 6 Instinct: 7 Luck: 6 Rolls 1. +1 Flame Length 2. 3. 4. 5.

The air is thick with Thread. It's at its heaviest up here, and you are literally surrounded by silver tendrils. You roar defiance before spitting forth a great flame, scorching the deadly threads before you with ease. Flame Length +1
Separating from K’lar was never easy, and though there had been the joy at still remaining in the same wing, and both following Z’tir’s leadership, it was hard to leave his mate on the ground. Though soon enough, these positions would be reversed -- and with less light to see.
The high altitude was thick with thread, and Kinitarth could only roar in defiance of so many slivers; a firm determination in his mind to sear what he could. His mate was down below, and if he could do his part in keeping Neirinth safe… He’d eagerly do so.

19. Ouch! You had successfully flamed Thread but the gust push the ash back into you as you fly! The hot ash cloud burns as you fly through it, but you're made of tougher stuff than that! The focus is Thread, not pain! [+2 Pain Resilience]
A hiss of pain escaped both A'kir and Librath as their previously flamed target blew back in their faces. A'kir's goggles kept the worst from his eyes, but Librath shook her head to clear herself of the soot and hot ash. They weren't going to let something as little as that stop them.

You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!?
3. The Threadfall hits your leg and your dragon's shoulder! It burns in deep, but your cries of pain can't be heard in the cold of Between. Moderate Damage: -6 HP
The body shot from thread, whipped up by a nasty gust of wind, hits the little glass-like blue square across his leg and shoulder -- nipping much too close to Kinitarth’s throat and the riding straps. He begins to bellow out in pain, though the rest is swallowed up as Sam’kel urges him into the safe cold embrace of between.

11. A clump of Thread catches you on your leg. You quickly hop Between, easing the sting of the burn. It hurts, but you're going to fight through the pain. Healers can wait. +1 Pain Resilience
A surprising sting on her leg sent Librath Between without prompting from A'kir. They reappeared Threadless and ready to go. It seemed the trip had brought a bit of life back to Librath who gave another powerful beat of her wings, a steely look in her red eyes. Time to get back to work.

3. You're able to Between above the sheet, but it's too far to actually flame. Your wingmates below are going to have to take care of it!
’Kinitarth!’ His rider’s sharp cry has Kinitarth’s head whipping around, instantly betweening at his rider’s instant nudge and direction. But as he curled to flame the clump below him… He’s almost despondent when he realizes it’s just too far away, and his flame wont quite reach. Oh...
