Sailor Lacerta, Senshi of Bandages (( Roll Totals: 4 ))

Lacerta had been trying to at least get a sense of why her grandmother was leading her towards a plant that looked like it'd been pollinated by some sort of monstrous version of a mutant bee. Her mind was still foggy and as she drifted closer and closer to the plant an overpowering stench filled her nostrils and Lacerta almost gagged in response. Nothing good could ever smell that bad. She was just in the process of yanking her hand away from the vision of her grandma when a sudden force shoved her backwards. The bandage senshi, caught off guard by the blow, stumbled over her feet and ended up windmilling her arms as momentum carried her backwards to land on her butt. Perhaps now the shouting was unnecessary but Lacerta groaned and held up her hands towards the shouting individual; almost as in mock-surrender. Her pride was wounded for sure and that landing wasn't the softest one in history but for now it seemed as if her mind was clear.

Taking in the sight of the one that had shoved her Lacerta took in the design with a question forming on her lips before she bit it back. Instead what came out was much more relevant to the situation, "what was that for?"

Surely her rescuer hadn't needed to push her to the ground but Lacerta was still shaking off the lingering effects of whatever it was that had gripped her mind. Senshi or not she was just still a teen and right now she was seriously contemplating shoving her rescuer back in payback. It wasn't the most logical thought but maybe it'd make her feel better? And yet that dark uniform the senshi wore was raising more questions inside, questions that she ought to not ask ... at least not yet.

Sailor Adorea
Total Roll: 9

It was weird to have confirmation that her idea wasn't quite so outlandish as she thought. Sometimes the simplest solutions may prove to be the most effective, however she was open to others the second she discovered this may not necessarily work.

Adorea gave a firm nod and then made a very definitive decision to walk over to the younger senshi she'd seen. She wouldn't have intruded if it hadn't been for the fact Abeosamu had shouted. Fortunately, the nearer she drew the more she realised that on this occasion it looked like the youngest of them had managed to break herself free. Credit where it was due, Abeosamu had managed to do what some of those older than her were struggling with.

"Hey!" she gave a wave and lightly nudged at the girl. "Do you want to stick with us and see if we can find more folks to help?" she offered.

Adorea knew that Ananke and Arthur would already be on their way towards locating any others who were in need, civilian or otherwise, and she aimed to do the same, but that didn't mean she wouldn't make sure those who had gotten out were all right in the grand scheme of things.

Nevertheless, while the younger senshi considered Adorea turned to both her companions and gave a wave, motioning towards several of the nearby civilians that she was aiming to make her way towards immediately after. If the powered could break out more easily then her priority needed to be set on those who couldn't break out on their own.

Idavollr
Rolls total: 3

Quote:
If you roll between a 1-3 you are struggling to break free from the trance! Though you have brief moments of clarity, you may find that your mind keeps sinking into the illusion and you are having a difficult time keeping yourself from following the illusion that seems to be guiding you closer to the plant. You get close enough that you can smell an almost putrid stench from the saliva-like sap dripping from its open mouth.

Idavollr was still not quite sure just why she had decided to come out here - and powered up as she was no less, although obviously a part of her must have thought it a good idea at the time.

Her lips turned down in a small frown as brown eyes glanced over a crowd that - at least in the past few minutes - appeared to have gotten larger, noting the way that some of those gathered appeared to be as curiously outfitted as she herself was.

Not that she recognised any of those gathered, the faces there all unfamiliar, all–

No wait, actually one of those gathered did seem somewhat familiar, although there was a possibility that she was mistaken.

She stepped a closer and then found herself stumbling slightly as the ground unexpected shifted suddenly, losing the figure amongst the crowd, as her attention shifted towards the shifting plants.

A beautiful scent was in the air, gentle and soothing, and whilst a part of her was dimly aware of the fact that a giant bulb had suddenly appeared and was slowly peeling open, it wasn't something that she found concerning.

There were fireflies too, blue, red, no various colours - something almost playful in their fluttering, as they danced around on the night air currents.

A purple one, drifted towards her and drew a startled but small smile as it landed on her shoulder, her hand reaching up almost absently, only for brown eyes to widen startled as another hand gently caught it.

There was a dark-haired woman standing in front of her - a familiar dark-haired woman, lips tilted up in a wide and generous smile that was reflected in green-flecked eyes of grey.

"Auntie.. Seren...?"

And it was the second time this week that she had seen her, for all that there was no way that she could really be there.

"Is it really you?"

Her aunt, Arian's mother, didn't answer, but Idavollr fancied that her smile got a little wider as she gently curled her fingers around her hand linking the two together before tugging slightly–

And whilst the previous occasion when she had seen her aunt had left her feeling anxious, all she felt was peace this time round as her aunt gently tugged again and led her forward and onwards towards the plant.

Her footsteps took her closer and closer - close enough for her to smell an almost putrid scent, almost as if something was rotting–

And it was so out of place that for one brief moment she almost managed to break free of the haze that had descended.

Almost, her footsteps faltering as her lips started to turn down in another frown–

And then her aunt gently tugged her hand once again and the moment passed as Idavollr took yet another step forwards.

Sailor Ananke
Roll Totals: 8

Ananke took a quick look around as she watched her companions go to look after other people in the field. Well, she puffs her chest and decided to go and help the random civilians who got dragged into the situation. Shaking anyone she can awake. "Everyone please get away from here as fast as you can."

Roll #1 = 3

Orah Gowan

Things about the city during the festival had been… a little odd, but no more so than DC seemed to produce lately. It felt like magic pooled inside the city limits, and it made uncanny things happen, like the fireworks the other night. They’d had people come into the hospital with sight loss, though the effect faded after a few days and left nothing that seemed like permanent damage. Then there were the flowers and plants, growing and blooming with a profusion she’d only seen on Ida before…

DC seemed to be in the throws of another burst of magical shenanigans, and it made Orah just a little bit uneasy. The smaller magics often lead to larger problems, things that could hurt people if they weren’t careful.

It seemed to be some of that magic that caught her when she left work at the hospital tonight. Dust, or maybe pollen, floated and swirled in clouds about the city street, filling the air with the smell of flowers. She’d paused in surprise, breathing deeper than she’d meant to, and then things had gone a bit hazy. She hadn’t felt concerned really, though she thought she should. It had felt… good, and she vaguely remembered walking, following some pull inside of her. She came back to herself somewhere she had never been, in an empty field that seemed quite far from the hospital she had left.

Orah blinked quickly, looking about in confusion, and then looked again with widened eyes. She couldn’t feel them, but she knew the look of sensei, and Dark Mirror as well. Powered people surrounded her and she suddenly felt small in her soft purple scrubs, her hair down her back in a neat braid. There was no way she could power up now though… She thought she saw Negaverse agents mixed into the crowd, and there was no where out of sight to hide. Something was happening, and she worried how she was going to face it without her powers to call on.

As fast as the alarm rose… it faded, the smell of flowers wafting up from something moving in the center of the field. Orah felt herself soothed, anxiety falling away. Of course she would be fine. There was nothing here that was going to hurt her.

Leaves unfurled from something she couldn’t quite see past the milling bodies and lights rose up from it, swirling and bobbing as they dispersed among the crowd. One flitted up to Orah’s face, looking more than anything like a tiny firefly that flickered blue, and she watched captivated as it landed on her outstretched hand…

And then another hand was in hers. Orah would have started, if she hadn’t felt wrapped up in a warm, fuzzy blanket that made it hard to think.

“Mum?” She murmured, frowning at the face of Farrah. It was the second time she had seen this woman’s face since her death, the second time she saw her smile in warmth and reassurance. “Mum…”

The last time, Farrah had had stern advise for her daughter, but this time she said nothing, only tugged gently at her hand. Orah stumbled forward eagerly, searching the familiar face. Maybe there was something else she wanted to tell her… If she followed, maybe she would hear it. Their path seemed to take them towards the strange, open plant and it nagged at the back of Orah’s mind, but the sense of peace she felt kept the warning note soft.

Wolframite
Total: 3

A sudden hand on his wrist stopped him suddenly and both he and Bismuthite turned to look over. "L-" He paused, daze lifting a moment as he remembered not to say his name. If a Negaverse agent knew someone's name, then that person was at risk.

Yet he was risking himself here, holding a monster's hand in front of so many civilians and senshi. In front of officers who might reprimand him for being foolish.

Landry always did like holding his hand, but now wasn't really the time.

Vitriol.

He stared and then, breathing in, it stared back.

It's not real.

It looked to Landry and slowly back to Bismuthite. The curve of his face, tan features in the sun, and the weight of his hand cupping his. He squeezed back in response and felt that small weight there giving an encouraging tug to come with him.

Wolframite looked back to Landry, and that hold, that frown, said otherwise.

He wasn't there.

Bismuthite hadn't come back. He would never come back. He was at home, wherever that was now, away. Moved on. He wouldn't come back for Wolframite. Not after everything. Not after what was done.

He looked back at the figure of the man holding his hand, wanting to move so close he could hold even more, but regarded him in the light of the moment. The distortion of his features. The way the light shined through parts of him.

Weakly, he looked back at Landry, pained. "I have to let Bismuthite go...again?" He asked, hoping that with permission, Landry could let this all slide. That it would be harmless to just keep going. That even in this rare moment, even this lie could be enjoyed for just a little bit longer.

Sailor Arnica, Dark Mirror Senshi of Mandragora
Score: 7

Arnica did not see whoever it was his sister was tugging him towards but he knew the name 'Altea'. Kibirev had mentioned her many times. "Kibi," he protested weakly, but he was too distracted by the sight of an old friend--Andrew, whose couch he'd crashed on his fair share of times after long fights with his father.

Andrew, who had gone missing almost three years ago.

"Wait, Kibi," he said, and though he kept his hand tightly gripping hers, he stopped and stared at the face of the young man he'd known so well--who looked like he hadn't aged a day.

He'd looked for Andrew. He was still looking for Andrew. Three years missing in Destiny City might as well be a death sentence, but Andrew was one of many who had gone missing with no closure. He had a folder full of research--of him, of others--trying to trace just what had happened. Andrew hadn't had family so when he'd disappeared no one was left to look for him sans the handful of friends he'd accumulated. Those friends forgot about him, over time--but it had been years. Arnica didn't blame them.

But he hadn't given up.

"Andrew?" he asked, relieved by the reassuring smile he was so used to seeing. Andrew took his hand, smiling. He gave him a playful tug, like he used to do when they were kids, playing outside.

He held fast to Kibi but...

When he blinked, something seemed wrong. Andrew disappeared--for a second, but it was enough to seed doubt. He'd already moved closer with Kibi, with Andrew, but the sudden strangeness made him realize just how cold Andrew's hand.

...Which made him realize just how wispy his hand was.

He blinked again and the hand was gone--Andrew was gone. He had butterflies in his stomach and his hair was standing on end; he turned his gaze back to Kibirev, horrified that she was some sort of illusion, too.

Eternal Sailor Remarque, Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry
Score: 6

Remarque should have had time to assess the situation, to make a plan, to act, but he was entrapped in an illusion before the great plant began to unfold before them.

He was standing next to the Dark Mirror Senshi; briefly he recalled shaking his hand and thinking he really ought to correct him on that misunderstanding that things were okay here.

But, he blinked, and ten feet away from him he saw the face of his father.

The perfectly preserved face, as if it were just pulled straight from his memory. The bold smile that his mother had fallen for, the charismatic face that he shared too many similarities with. In a suit almost identical to the one he'd been wearing the last time he'd seen him.

He'd aged well, apparently, which should have been a good indication for him, but Remarque felt absolutely no joy in seeing him. A cold fear gripped him; he didn't know where his father had run off to but he'd been so certain he'd have been smart enough to leave Destiny City. He could have killed him when he was a teenager, when he'd broken his mother's heart and abandoned them, and all that rage burned in him with a fire he'd worked hard to stifle.

He didn't have time to stop it; he saw his father and before the man could make a move, before he could say anything, Remarque had stormed towards him, hand curled into a fist. He drew his arm back and punched as hard as he could--and it went right through him.

He froze, staring at the empty space for a few seconds longer than he should have as his mind tried to sift through everything.

It registered, then--an illusion--but that fact did nothing to ease his anger. He turned and his eyes settled on the movement in front of them.

"Oh, s**t," he blurted, taking a step back towards the Senshi. "Hey--stay close to me--are you all right? Are you seeing anything?"

Squire Mamertine
Score: 9

Movement did not necessarily bode well in situations such as these; Mamertine was aware of the fireflies, aware of some floral happening in the distance--but between that and him was the sudden apparition of a man he'd thought he'd seen the last of years ago.

When he was younger, his father had been murdered. It had been a whole public thing--but then, anyone with a career, a reputation, like that? The media hadn't let it be a private affair; it had been sensationalized. There had been a whole big affair about it, and he'd been dragged through all of it.

It was something no one should have had to deal with, and it was something that had driven him to do what he did.

...He knew his father was dead. He knew there was no way the man standing in front of him was the same man who had played such an important role in shaping his life--as much after his death as he had when he was still breathing. And yet, he found that when the man took his hand and began to lead him, it felt right. It felt like he was being guided in the right direction.

He took a few steps with him but said nothing, trying to analyze this--to decipher what was going on.

Something wasn't right and he knew it. Mamertine was a man who appreciated the cold, hard facts, and no matter how much he wanted to see where this ghost was leading him, no matter how much he wanted to pretend like his father was still alive--he knew he wasn't.

He hesitated and retracted his hand--and almost immediately the man disappeared.

Mamertine stiffened, but it didn't take a genius to figure out that there was more going on than it seemed; he summoned his weapon and looked up.

Super Sailor Caia, Senshi of Cardinals
Score: 3

Caia had a habit of wandering into the wrong place at the wrong time, and tonight honestly wasn't any different. He had been lulled here by a sweet smell that made him want to go home and try to recreate a candle of it.

One minute he was just minding his own business, eyes closed as he meandered closer--the next minute he was surrounded by a myriad of energy signatures and people.

The next, his mother was standing in front of him, smiling at him like she knew something he didn't--and for a split second he completely forgot that it had been over a decade since they'd had her funeral.

"Mom," he blurted. "--Wow, you look so good."

She was smiling, in the way she would when she knew something he didn't--right before Christmas Day, when she was leading him to the tree. It made butterflies churn in his stomach and he felt oddly elated. She held out her hand for him and he took it instantly.

It didn't matter that she didn't say anything, or that she looked like she hadn't aged a day since the last time he saw her. It didn't matter that he couldn't understand the outfit she was wearing; one second it looked blue but when he blinked it was a purple, and then green.

It never clicked that something was wrong--he just clung to her hand and moved after her like a little puppy waiting for a treat.

Total roll: 6

Abeosamu was surprised as another senshi approached her. She blushed, realizing she has been shouting. She had been so caught up in that illusion. It was a good thing she had realized something was off, and broke free. She glanced around, finally seeing that others were now stuck in the same boat that she had been in. They needed help! Those illusions could very well lead them to their doom!

“Of course! I’ll do my best to assist you!” Abeosamu replied to Adorea.

Alpersite wasn’t quite sure how he had ended up here. It wasn’t like following the stars had been…no, this was…strange. Almost like sleepwalking. Yes, that was what it felt like. As though he had been sleepwalking and now he was somewhere that he couldn’t quite understand, with sleepy, heavy eyes and the smell of something wonderful and sweet filling his nose.

It smelled like…like home. Something comforting that made him keep walking, a dazed, confused little smile on his face. There was a strange plant that had opened up in the middle of the square, but that wasn’t so bad. And there were fireflies. Dozens of them and he laughed and moved to catch one, as he had done when he was a child, and after a moment, he felt a soft touch on his hand and looked up, his eyes widening.

“…M-may?” His older sister stood in front of him, lightly and playfully tugging his hand. Though she looked as he remembered her, young and playful…his friend. Before she had gotten involved in…in whatever she had gotten involved in.

He smiled, rather stupidly now and followed her. He wanted his family…all of them. Perhaps…

Perhaps she wasn’t dead after all. Perhaps…they were all just hiding.
He didn’t seem to notice or care that they were nearing the plant, he just kept following his sister, enchanted by her smile.
