___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab Of course she wouldn't need to wait long, and if Grey remained still she would appear shortly within the door carrying two large boxes on top of one another, enough that she couldn't see where she was going. Grunting at the wait as she pivoted to kick the door shut the young lady turned and shoved the boxes against the wall, using her chest to steady it as she slowly lowered herself by her knees until the heavy thud of the boxes striking the ground reported. Sighing, standing, and leaning back with hands on her hips to stretch out her back, the girl finally turned with her face damp and hair plastered in sweat to look at Grey with the smile she'd always warn for the little wild child. "Well, now, sorry for the wait," she exclaimed as she reached into her pocket and withdrew a small, silver tube no longer than a finger. "I'll need you to come over here real quick, little one. That scary man that reeked of bananas will be coming around, looking for people without sigils. From what I saw you're missing one on your hand. Lucky for you, I'm dating the head of the guard and know where he stashes these." As she said this she uncapped the marker with a conspiratorial cast to her expression. tab tab tab

GREY xxxxxMark? What mark? Ah of course! The guards at the gate were stamping the visitors when she snuck in; some sort of tracking mechanism, she reckoned. Grey briefly looked down at her hands, one burned and roughly wrapped in dirty bandages and the other fine by all accounts, then glanced back to the would doubtfully. The conspiratorial mind of the little vixen went right to work trying piece together what was happening. Had she been tricked? Did this woman notice that grey didnt belong and was now going to turn her in? She did mention that she was in leagues with the guards. Yes, that must be it. She'd need to make a play to escape... make a bolt for it until she could cloak back up and vanish into the streets once more. Grey slowly inched towards the woman with her right hand outstretched. Slowly, she'd move her left, bandaged hand behind her towards the hilts of the knives she kept beneath the pancho-adjacent cloak she called a shirt ready to strike out if need be. General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab Crouching down to put herself somewhere near Grey's height and held out the marker, closed, in an open palm. Erza smiled at her, cocking her head to the side and allowing the emerald pools of her eyes to convey the sincerity in her following words. "Here," she began, her tone happy and calm. "Take it. All you need is a symbol of some sort. Usually we just draw the heart or wavy lines of the old Mist village. Either way. If you draw that the guards won't even look twice at you." She could tell the talk was bothering her. The tight form, her movements, were of an animal cornered and afraid. Why shouldn't she be? Since coming here she'd seen a fight break out, lightning strike, had to experience Sundance, and now was in the home of some stranger! Given her appearance she was a starving waif who had found her way into the city by accident or remarkable design, either of which reeked of desperation for food, safety, and likely stability. Thankfully, Erza was capable of providing this. In this case, that began with her allowing the girl to draw on herself rather than have Erza do it. tab Not taking her eyes from the girl as she waited, Erza instead continued to talk conversationally to try and lighten the mood. "I brought up some barrels of food from storage. Do you have any requests? I'm pretty good with pasta dishes, and I can make a mean potato salad that'll make your mouth water from the smell alone!" tab tab

GREY xxxxxThe fox-girl's hand loosened its grip from the knife and her body began to relax. A relieved sigh slipped from Grey's lips; perhaps she had judged the woman too harshly. Then again, she was still in leagues with the captain of the guard pretty deep, so the cause for concern was still valid. Grey reached out with her bandaged hand and awkwardly fumbled with it, a clear sign of this not being her dominant hand. She'd listen to what her benefactor had to offer as she struggled to scribble a heart shape onto her good hand; It was passable, but very little more than a few angular scribbles. All Grey could do was offer a shrug in response to Erza's request. She'd spent most of her life, at least her new, unfrozen life, in the wilds and what little memories she had of the life before were devoid of food. General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab It would seem the girl's actions had scored some points of trust in her favor. Score! Resisting the urge to punch the air triumphantly instead Erza decided to play it smart and let the girl get her bearings. Best not to waste that good will, right? "So my name is Erza," she began as she slid back against a wall and punched a hole in the side of one of the caskets with a spigot she mysteriously pulled from nowhere. Holding up two mugs she likewise seemed to pull from the recesses of her nether regions, she began to fill the containers with some bubbly azure liquid that frothed as it neared the top. As she finished marking off her own portion with a firm twist of the spigot's control arm she turned to the girl again and held out one towards her while sipping from the other to show it was safe. Pulling her lips away a deeply blue bubble mustache was left upon her upper lip, which she smiled through. "Here! This is Blueberry Cider. It's my secret recipe, and you'd be the second to try it. Let me know what you think!" tab [For Continue roleplay, character interaction, and progression, I award you one hundred and fifty experience [150] and six [6] free posts!] tab

GREY xxxxxGrey's ears snapped forward at the mention of the woman's name. She might not have entirely trusted Erza just yet, but Grey at least had the decency to introduce herself in kind. The fox pointed to herself, setting down the marker, and weakly replied, "Grey." Her voice was weak and raspy, as though the very act of speaking required a great force to push out the words. With introductions out of the way, Grey's mouth quickly sealed right back up... or at least that was until the cider reached her hands. Gripping hold of the mug offered to her, Grey gave an intensely inquisitive stare down of the concoction before her. She'd give it a quick smell as Erza rattled on about the mixture before finally taking a sip. Grey's eyes shot wide open as the sweet, fizzy drink made contact with her tongue. The vixen's eyes darted to meet Erza's, then quickly went back to the mug, tipping it upwards as a sip turned into hasty gulps. Only once the mug had been emptied would Grey finally come back up for air, albeit gasping for breath. I think she likes it. General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab At the hasty downing of the blue concoction Erza held her fists by the side of her fast in exultation and exclaimed somewhat quietly "yes!" It was clear she found this a success story, and reached back to the spigot while smiling at the girl. "If you want more simply hold it beneath this while I turn it. You can have as much as you like, but there's sugar, so if you drink too much you'll spoil your appetite for dinner and likely get sick in the stomach!" This last part said with a smile that said she didn't think it was that serious of a consequence. As she waited to see if the girl would ask for more, the eyed the girl's reaction and considered how she spoke. "Grey, hm?" There wasn't confusion or aggression, just mild curiosity. A neutral name for a neutral girl who wished to remain under the view of others. Grey, the color least likely to harm or stand out. Neither aggressive, nor defensive. She just...was. And that made Erza all the more intent to help her. She was relaxed on her knees, making sure to keep herself at Grey's level so that she wouldn't assert unintentional dominance. tab Cocking her head to the side she let her eyes "wander" towards the outside through one of her windows. "Grey, would you minded if I asked where you woke up? From what I've been told we've all woken in different ways, different places."

GREY xxxxxGrey's demeanor quickly soured at the mention of her reawakening. Her wide eyes narrowed and hear ears folded back as her untouched hand grasped at the bandaged one, fidgeting with the dirty wrappings. It was an event she'd more than be happy to forget. Her mind raced, fighting through panic and pained memories to search for the right words to string together, but all she'd manage to squeak out was a hoarse "Snow." It wasn't entirely accurate, but it was probably good enough; she didn't think there'd be many locations that offered such climates nearby. The scratchiness of her throat caused her to go into a slight coughing fit as she tried her best to speak and quickly downed the rest of her drink to try and ease it and maybe even relighten her moon. It wouldnt work. General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab Erza picked up what was being put down. "Iron," she muttered, her expression darkening somewhat. It was a familiar place for her, one filled with harsh judgment and constant struggle for survival that left her a ruined mess for years. It had been the site of her greatest losses and triumphs in nearly equal measure, and for that she was certain she would never return to that blasted place. And so when it became obvious to her that Grey felt something bad about this place, and likely had a story of how she ended up crossing over to the island of Mud, it was clear now wasn't the time. Keeping herself in her current position the woman waited for the coughing fit to cease before continuing in response. "I can see it was painful for you. I will not press. What I suggest, however, is a change of pace. With that symbol on your hand you can go anywhere you like within the village. I can show you to our education district if you prefer, or you can sleep here. If you want to get out and stretch some muscles I could get you some light mission work, or even a job. Your life is your own here, Grey. The laws are meant for you to do as you want, and the goal is self growth. What do you feel like doing?" tab

GREY xxxxxEven the idea of having the luxury of choice was so far removed from Grey's mind that Erza's question completely threw the fox off. She could go around and visit the city, but it seemed to be a bit too lively for her liking at the moment. The offer to stay here for a while... now that was almost too good to take up. No more sleeping in trees of finding random caves; for the first time in a long time, she'd sleep in an actual bed, or a stray cushion at the very least. Either would be a luxury to what the girl was used to. "Here.." she'd croak. The city could wait. For now, it was time to rest and recover. General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab At last, a breakthrough! Grey at last seemed to be taking in that life, whatever it had been before, was becoming something new. And Erza at least would help breathe life into that spark, but at the girl's pace. Turning slightly to the side she tutted quietly to herself before nodding with a smile. "Alright. Food, drink, sleep, you name it! We even have books if you want to read." The implication of her tone would be that even if the girl didn't know how the learning opportunity was there. Rocking backwards and rolling onto her butt, the leader Merchant took a moment to think before she would gesture to the nearby table. "I can make dinner, or we can keep drinking. I was planning some pork tonight, or rather, what I think is pork." Frowning to herself at that thought she continued with a huff. "This new world has many things that look similar without being the same. Pigs, apparently, are one of them. They have strange colors and patterns on their skin, if you haven't seen, but supposedly they taste the same. Wanna try with me?" She scooted to the side, giving Grey clear line of sight for the bed, the table, and the toilet. Whatever she chose would be her own. tab

GREY xxxxxThe idea of another meal so soon was a bit much, even for the voracious little vixen. Now that she could travel the city uninhibited, Grey's curiosity was getting the better of her. She'd shake her head in the negative at Erza's question, then get back on her feet and begin making her way towards the door. After a few steps, Grey would motion Erza to follow along, assuming she didn't have anything to do right now. Things surely must have calmed down in the city, so why not go see what trouble they could cause? General Info

___________________The Narrator Whispers...|| tab The pair made their way out into the city proper, or at least the market district itself. All around lay shops and stands, and each manned by a person who would nod to Erza and hold two fingers to their breast no matter what they were doing before returning to their activity if, in fact, they had stopped at all. Each time Erza would return the gesture and continue as if nothing were amiss, surely used to this strange address given her lack of reaction to it. She carried on with her smile, one she turned on Grey as often as she could to make sure she was okay. tab As they approached a part of the city that the lightning had struck earlier Erza spoke up, her expression dropping to one of concern. "If I'm not mistaken the lightning struck Yzald's shop. Or apartment. Or both, honestly, since more often than not we sleep in our shops." Gesturing to the upper floors with windows facing into the city above clearly marked shops she continued. "We don't have much space here, so it makes it a necessity. Anyway, if his shop was hit it's going to be a nasty turn for the city. He's our primary hunter for wild tubers and seeds. Without him we wouldn't be able to bring in even half the supply we have now." Casting a cursory gaze over much in attendance she continued on, this time speaking to Grey. "So where to? I only wanted to get somewhat of an idea as to where the bolt hit, to assess my report to the Kokorokage later this evening. Until then I only have one chore, which is to make sure none of the local known thieves has taken anything again." A long suffering look passed her face. "I hate to do it, since I know they only do it because they feel they can't do anything."

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||
For what seemed like eternity, but at the same time no time at all, you floated in darkness. You can vaguely recall yourself, who you were, and what you were, as if a voice had guided you along that path to remembrance, but the voice itself faded away like it had never existed to begin with. All is at peace, at rest in the comforting embrace of the abyss, until a crack splits the air, resounding in the nothingness. With it came light and humidity as it slowly spider-webbed outward. Then it shattered altogether and you were released from your prison, where you fell to the damp earth, strength not immediately returning to your limbs. This weakness would only last a brief moment before you were filled with energy that could have kept you going for what felt like days, fulling rested and at your prime.
You are in a clearing, surrounded by newly built buildings in what seemed to be a fairly bustling street. There are some eyes on you, but only a few, as if what had just happened were perfectly normal. Even those who watched barely showed an interest, and some even moved on while you tried to get your bearings. One in particular even picked up several of the shards of crystal that surrounded you before continuing on their way.

LOCATION: Kokorogakure MOOD: Confused PARTY: None STATUS: Rested
Light? Alessa opened her eyes for a moment, allowing a shimmer shaft of light to hit her face. In the void, she recoiled from sudden onset of light. How long had it been? How long had she been trapped in this wretched prison so long removed from time and space. Alessa twisted and squirmed in the void as the cracks grew larger and larger, filling more and more of the void with light and sounds.
In an instant with a bright flash of light, Alessa found herself falling onto the ground, colliding with the damp earth below. She struggled there on the ground for a brief moment, remembering what it was to have usage of her old muscles. Strength slowly returned to her as her eyes struggled to adjust to the growing light and sounds around her. A cacophony of sounds filled her ears as she found herself in the middle of a bustling market. Try as she might, Alessa could not seem to remember such a place. She in fact found that almost all of her memories were gone or simply little fragments.
Struggling to her feet, she looked around at the street, watching as dozens of people went about their daily lives as if she hadn't just appeared in the street. Alessa turned to look behind herself, noticing the shattered remnants of the crystal. Some ruffian even seemed to be taking pieces of it. Even in this place it seems that squalor and poverty are unavoidable. Alessa knelt down, picking up a few pieces of the crystal for herself as well. Whatever this material was, it had managed to keep her prisoner despite all of her own efforts and was valuable enough to steal. She would need to deal with the ruffian later if she ever came across him again. Had she been in her old body, she could have simply laid waste to the town but this new form was... limiting.
She held a sliver of the crystal up to her face, catching her reflection on its surface. This form will have to suffice for now. I will need to acquire a better vessel at some point. Alessa stuffed the crystal into her pockets and began to make her way down the street, attempting to blend in as best she could. She needed to find out when and where she was and then she needed to find some form of apothecary or arcane store to replace her staff.
