Only a couple of weeks now until Clerks 2 and Snakes on a mother*ahem* Plane comes out.

If no one has heard the personalised voice mail you can have sent by Samuel Jackson to get friends to see the movie, take a listen. http://sljytmnd.ytmnd.com/ or http://snakesonacake.ytmnd.com/ and thus forth. It's awesome!

Oh and which movies I want to see... well, I want to see Renasiance in the cinema when I can, the idea of a Black and White (no grey at all) movie is enticing, and I also VERY VERY much want to see The Fountain.

I am certain that'll be my favourite movie of all time when it comes out. The idea of intersplicing Fantasy, Reality and Sci-Fi by using alternate timelines while telling 3 stories is fascinating to me. I can't imagine a better concept. My life waits on that movie.

I'd be interested in Renaissance... but it got bad reviews from everyone bar The Metro, which ain't hopeful.
The Fountain sounds interesting... we should be getting A Scanner Darkly soon, too.
Good month or two for films upcoming, I think.

I noticed that, as well. I think I'll probably wind up seeing it out of curiosity, but I'll be happy just patiently waiting for The Illusionist.

Well, if Renaissance fails, we always have A Scanner Darkly to pick up the pieces. ONE of them has to be good.

Which reminds me. Seeing that, Clerks 2 and Snakes will be hellish, who decided to make the best cinema week of the year in the middle of a 5 week month?!

I am pulling money together for all 3, 'tis true.
Though Pan's Labyrinth still interests me more, when it eventaully arrives.

Anyway, I can hardly complain about all 3 emerging just before my birthday. Gives me a choice, for a change.

Given the distance from the nearest cinema, my budget and the fact I can't drive (and I'm pooling cash for the LRP event over the Bank Holiday), I don't like the odds of me definitely seeing any of them.

Although I should imagine that the occasional descriptions of Snakes on a 'Plane as a comedy're winding people up, since I understood that even the reshoot was supposed to keep it as a drama.

Yeah, as I keep saying. My biggest fear is that Snakes will be good enough to be a poor movie.

It has to be AWFUL or it will fail.

You know, I think I'm going to get you a years subscription to Screenselect for Christmas. I think you'd appreciate the opportunity to keep at least a little bit up to date with movies.

A Scanner Darkly wound up excellent, btw, despite Keanu Reeves. I don't mean to be cruel (well maybe just...), but playing a deadpan character who's addicted to drugs seemed to suit his acting talents perfectly.
It's like The Terminator all over again.

Looks like I'll be going to see Tideland come Friday.

My schedule for the rest of the year is looking like this:

Clerks 2 next weekend, guaranteed.
The Fountain when I'm in America if I can convince Tricia to sit through what is looking to be the best movie ever made.
Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty when I can get to see it, even if I have to steal. It's TPB and it's a Rush soundtrack, that show is so good.
Nightmare Before Christmas 3d... Come on. It's 3d!
Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny because Jack Black + Kyle Glass = ROCK.

Next year all I have so far is Pirates 3, Spidey 3, Fountain's UK release and of course My name is BRUCE!

Bruce Campbell as Bruce Campbell as Ash from Evil Dead.

GREATEST, CONCEPT, EVER!

Tideland highly recommended.
Terry Gilliam is back on form.

It pains me to admit it, given that I started this thread and all, but I'm actually not waiting for any movies right now. I've seen Serenity, I've seen Pirates *grumbles*, I've seen the epics I've been waiting for since uni, namely LOTR. Spidey 3 might be OK, but I'm not bouncing in anticipation. There's just nothing I'm interested in. In fact, my latest film DVD purchase was of a film that was made 29 years ago...

Not even the news that the Knight Rider movie still has a chance has got my attention - especially not since they were rumoured to have invited Orlando Bloom. Please. KITT would wipe the floor with him. Better still, let KARR deal with him... *thinks evil thoughts*

Thank heavens for TV DVD releases...

Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to catching Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D...didn't even know that was being done until I passed by a movie poster for it last week.
And considering I haven't seen that movie in possibly 10 years now (unless you count the little trips into its world in the Kingdom Hearts games : P), I'd like to relive the memories.

Anyway...hm, that "Renaissance" movie seems interesting...I'm a sucker for animation, and I'm curious as to how that will look; if it's aired in any theatres around here.

May I point you to Pan's Labyrinth?
When it finally emerges, I think you'll like it.

Hmmm... seems Studio Ghibli's Gedo Senki (aka Tales from Earthsea, based on the 3rd book of Ursual Le Guin's series) spilled ou in japan without me noticing.
Not much to go on yet, but the trailer seems to have a distinct lack of sea for a film based on a book which was mostly set in a small boat.
