Username: Hobo Pixi Student Name: Sanyin
Number Rolled: 16 - Grimm
Courtship Time!:
Sanyin looked surprised when his teacher assigned him the Grimm race to research courtship on. He remembered asking his parents how they got together and now he was curious if they did it right. He got up to look in one of the books, reading that grimms used to trade younger grimms with other tribes... something to do with bloodlines.... Now they just give gifts to woe the person they liked in hopes they accept. Sanyin pouted a bit, curious if this was what he was supposed to do when he was old. He supposed so since that was pretty much how his parents fell in love. Sighing a bit, he started to write down the information he found.

Username: Hobo Pixi Student Name: Khiran
Number Rolled: 19 - Shade
Family Values:
Khiran was not particularly interesting in learning about the other races. He guessed it would be pretty interesting to see how different Shades were in comparison to his own race. Pulling out his book on races, he flipped through till he got to the Shade section and started reading. Turns out that they are nothing like Baphomets... well about the only comparison is that they both raise their kin with the help of others. Shades are fearful creatures that prefer smaller numbers in their tribes so they can escape easy and not cause trouble. They also prefer monogamy and only imbuing once with a max of two stones. Khiran also found it off that they prefer to stick to their own race or chomps and will even shun one of their own for adopting a non-shade or chomp... Wow. They are also super protective of family and chomps. That ended up being more interesting than not.

Username: Hobo Pixi Student Name: Jacie
Number Rolled: 5 - Dryad
Family Values:
Jacie buckled down and pulled out a book on Dryads. Why his teach gave him this race as an assignment was beyond him. He started to sift through the book, looking for anything that seemed to be family related or values. He raised a brow as he started to read how the community will imbue stones in clusters but dont get to keep the stone. Weird. Reading on, he discovered that the shaman takes the stones and monitors their magic till they are close to waking up. Then the shaman throws a party and watches how the magic essence of the possible adopters mesh with the stone's magic essence. At the end of the night, the shaman picks the parents. Jacie found that to be completely bizarre! Grimms weren't like that... not that he would know first hand since... his parents threw him away before he was born and his grammy took him in. He wondered how she was doing... he missed her so much.

Username: Sesshy552 Student Name: Momoko
Number Rolled: 9 - Kirin
Courtship Time!:
Momoko tapped his pen down on the desk, his gaze flitting from the blank paper with name Kirin written across the top to the textbook seated right next to it. For once he was unsure what to write, but with a few more taps he forced himself to start writing.
'Kirin seem to be a very vain and prideful species when it comes to courtship, everything is about how well-kept they are appearance-wise, and how expensive the products and adornments they hang around their heads are. When they get more serious with their love interest, it is imperative that they introduce them to family members. As keeping them out of the loop is showing that you are not a serious suitor. Aside from looks and family, Kirin culture also states that you must want a family. It is also deemed wrong to court outside of your race, and all in all they seem to be a closed-knit society with a very family-driven, vain culture.'
Satisfied he had answered the question, he set his pen down and waited for the class to end.

September 2018 Academy: Social Studies Freshling 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student thinks of a defining trait from the race they've been assigned. 3. Word count minimum is 150 words! 4. ??? Profit!
Username: One Little Jay Student Name:Barry
Number Rolled: 8. Geist
Defining Trait: When it was Barrys turn, he looked wide-eyed at the teacher,a geist? He had only seen geist in his classroom and other than that had never even talked to one? How were they different? What did that even mean, they weren't THAT different from himself. "Uh I got geist, and well they have these floaty bits around their body that you can see through, and they don't have fur like me. They are kinda see throughish, sometimes anyway. Oh and they have weird eyes sometimes like the parts here" he motioned to the whites of his eyes, not knowing the word scelera. "Sometimes they aren't white like mine, but sometimes they are. But I think the biggest difference is their lack of fur." Being an imp it was, of course, apparent to barry the drastic difference between the amount of fur he had and the lack of on the geist.

Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Ari
Number Rolled: 5 Dryad
Defining Trait: Ari stood up, then held their paper out in front of them to read easily from. “My name is Ari. The race I’m reporting on today are Dryads. They are kind of a combined plant and animal race. Their distinctive features are the leaves or other plants that grow on their legs, ears and foreheads. There are four different kinds of dryads. Floral, Succulents, Ferns, and lastly Arboreals. They could have ferns, flowers, succulents and leaves I think.” Ari scratches their head, there wasn’t a lot on what the growths look like in their research and Ari had yet to meet a dryad in person so.... “Their growths have nerves in them and also helps them gain vitamin D from the sunlight, which they need for their growth and mood.” Ari nodded in satisfaction at the end of their report and sat back down, folding their report and tucking it into their folder.

Username: Katsura Zanshin Student Name: Ila
Number Rolled: 7 -Fey Defining Trait: Ila stood when it was her turn to give her report. She had gotten Fey as her designated race, which she thought was pretty easy. "Fey have lots of defining traits. The most important ones are their flowers, their wings, and their..." Ila forgot the word she was looking for and simply put two fingers to her head and wiggled them. "The flower is, like, their life force? If the flower doesn't feel good, the Fey that owns it doesn't feel good. They can get really, really sick. So if you ever see a Fey with a wilting flower, they probably need help." Ila nodded sharply before continuing. "And they have two different kinds of wings: Lunar wings and Solar wings. One looks like butterflies, and one looks like moths. And the...the...antennas!" That was the word! "The antennas can show their emotions. So pay attention to a Fey's antenna if you want to make sure they're happy." Ila finished and sat back down.

Username: Katsura Zanshin Student Name: Evelyn
Number Rolled: 21 - Chomp Defining Trait: A chomp? Evelyn had never met a Chomp. Weren't they a fairly new race to the academy? As if it weren't hard enough for her to talk to the whole class, she had to get a race she barely knew about. "Well, uh...I'm pretty sure they have these claws and a tail that isn't attached to their bodies. Their claws don't work too far from them, they get hurt, then don't work anymore. But I think they grow back, so that's okay. And their tails do work when it's too far away." Uh...what else? "They don't have to wear shoes because they have big, clawed feet. Actually all of them are big. Really, really big." Evelyn fidgeted, her antenna waving anxiously. "Um...big ears, big claws, big tail, big feet. I think that's probably their defining characteristic. They're really big." Evelyn gulped and sat back down, wanting to hide behind her wings. Total disaster.

Username: Katsura Zanshin Student Name: Julie
Number Rolled: 21 - Chomp
Courtship Time!: Courtship rituals for Chomps? Really? They barely had courtship rituals. How in the heck was she supposed to do a report on this? The Grimm shifted nervously from one paw to the other. "Okay, so Chomps. They...well, they're not big on courtship, honestly. They really don't have any rituals or dating etiquette or anything like that. They pretty much just go up to someone and tell them that they want to spend forever with them. And that just sort of works for them somehow. But if the other person doesn't want to be with the Chomp, they don't seem to really care. They just accept it and try again with someone else. I bet they're just as blunt when rejecting someone too. So, yeah, that's how Chomps do courtship." Julie shrugged her shoulders and looked around at the class. There wasn't much else to say, and she hoped she'd pass the class even though she got a race that didn't actually have any courtship rituals.

Username: One Little Jay Student Name:Amie
Number Rolled: 10 IMP
Family Values: Amie spent a while researching Imps, they were part of her but not something she resonated with on any sort of personal level. She hadn't grown up in a hall, or ever been offered to join a cartel. However learning about it now she kinda wished that she had. Halls of imps with aunts and uncles mothers and fathers cousins all growing up together. It sounded lovely, too nic. Amie never had any family and only ever had been returned time and again to an orphanage. She cracked her fingers and started to write trying to keep herself from being too sad or longing for something that was never really hers.
Imps have strong family bonds, they see their extended family just as close as their immediate family. They form halls, which really just sound like big summer camps. One large area almost like a village with the whole family growing and living together. Business is one of imps most important values and for this reason, they also form cartels. Each one having domain over a certain area of the market. These domains are kept separate and are looked at as a family inheritance. Sometimes Cartels merge with advantages marriages that can expand their influence while gaining more family

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Ecco
Number Rolled: 7, fey
Defining Trait: Ecco fidgeted, trying to think of what a "fey" looked like again. They were the um, the fluttery winged ones? "Fey are, um, they have the the wings? And antennae?" What else could she think of about them? "And they also dance?" Right? That was what they did, right? She was pretty sure. "They're very colorful!" Ecco wished she'd gotten dolls. Her best friend was a doll so she could tell loads about them but she didn't even know a single fey. At least, she was pretty sure she didn't know any.
Since that was about as much as anyone else had said, Ecco sank into her seat a bit in the hopes that that would signal that she was done and the teacher could move on to someone else. When the student behind her was called on, she heaved a sigh of relief. Di'o wasn't in any of her classes so she fretted about when she could hang out with them again. Hopefully it would be soon.
