It was up to her now. Her squad was weakened and beaten worse than she would have expected, as they struggled to attack this enemy. It was in front of her. And it was doing worse than they were.
She grabbed it with her fist and stomped on its head, crushing it under her military-issued boots while it grabbed at her, trying to stop her even now. With the blade still in her other hand from earlier, she sliced through the neck, severing it completely.
With that, it was dead again.

Sure, the others were hurt, but his moirail, his best friend. He had to check in on her. "Psy!" Leeroi moved over to her, patting her over and checking her wounds. "Psy, are you ok? Where does it hurt?" Leeroi watched the redblood, holding onto her carefully.

Fluff Post Psykgi needed a breather. She sat on an something that was suitable and clean - probably a seat once, overlooking a battle station of some sort, though the cloth (if there had ever been any) had all but deteriorated. She slumped over and closed her eyes for a moment. Her mind was still spinning a little from the first encounter, and she hurt a lot worse than she usually did. Am I in over my head or what? she thought, laughing internally. And to think, she'd thought that this soldiering stuff was easy. Swarming class ships... those were a very different beast from the great symbol of trollind. She should have stuck with something easier, signed up to a different group, looked out for herself. Just herself. What was she thinking... And then there was Leeroi's voice calling her name. Right. That's why. she thought, opening her eyes and smiling at her moirail. "H-hey." she said. "I've been bet... owch! Right about there, yeah..." she said, as he found exactly where it hurt - the injury on her body from the undead commander, much deeper than it appeared with, probably, something nasty in it. She touched his hand, a wierd fear washing over her. "I could be worse though... How are you doing." She looked at him, searching his face. For a moment, she clung to the sensation - the strange bliss of spending time with him, where nothing else really mattered. It was only a moment - they didn't have moments to spare on the flagship - but it stole away the pain and gave her a desire to go on. "We... We've made good progress, haven't we?" She fought to keep the slight waver of fatigue out of her voice, "We're going to finish this." We. She and him. The whole group. The whole group. Oh yeah, they were there. And that... included Hemera. The thing between Leeroi and Hemera... Leeroi had told her what happened, and her own observations had told her what she needed to know. She needed to do something and, even with Leeroi there, even with the safety she felt in his presence, she was scared... that something would go wrong. Therefore, no time like the present to put a plan into motion. A plan that would at least clear the air, and would at most lead to something positive. And, who knew, it might help get them out alive. "Lee?" She squeezed his arm affectionately - ressurance for herself and for him - "Its okay. I'll be fine. Some bandages, some painkillers - and some rest when we're home. I'll be fine." She dug out one of her spare multi-purpose medical kits from her bag. She could use it on Leeroi, but... "I don't know about the Sarge over there, though... Could you check on her for me? She looks a bit injured." She smiled at him, Go talk to her. Tell her how you feel. She thought hopefully. She would have wanted to find out more - maybe talked to Hemera a bit before setting them together - but who knew what condition she would be in after this? "It'll be fine." she added. She wasn't talking about herself anymore. He couldn't do much to treat her wounds, being unprepared for taking part in a support role. She did have a request for him, though. And it wasn't one he wanted to hear. Psykgi knew what was best, and he understood that. He could trust that things would go right if he followed her advice. He had no reason to mistrust her. He just... really didn't want to do this. Not now, not really ever. It would be painful no matter what. Still, Leeroi didn't argue. He took the kit from her and nodded, knowing what she wanted from him from her glances. He had to do this. Psygki couldn't do it for him. Rigidly, he turned away, and took long strides to walk over to Hemera. Leeroi held the medkit in front of his face, covering his eyes. His mouth peeked out, teeth gritted in a nervous expression. " Hemera." He said, finally lowering the medkit from his face, offering it to the tealblood. A blue blush was apparent on his face. "Gog, I just..." His voice was low, but not quite a whisper. Leeroi wasn't very good at whispering. He pulled at the sides of the medkit, and closed his eyes. "I just... I really want to kiss you back," Leeroi finally admitted, looking up at the tealblood, squinting. His eyes darted away as he desperately tried to explain himself. "We were just avoiding each other so much and when I saw you in person for the first time you were with a friend and now we're in front of your boss and I knew you'd really hate me if I tried so..." Leeroi spoke quickly, words bleeding into each other without room for interruption. "Let's just... Let's work this out, ok?" He made a pained smile, then glanced back down at the medkit. "And, uh, here's a medkit. For your wounds."

Mera, despite nervousness gnawing at her about having to be near Leeroi, was already starting on her way to assess Psykgi's condition herself. Her quest cut off suddenly, though, as Leeroi sidelined the tealblood. Mera halted, a bit surprised to find him stopped in front of her. The action seemed best put as 'in a very purposeful manner'. She didn't know what to make of the med kit up in front of his face. Was he? Hiding from her? Before she could even try to stutter her way into a greeting, Leeroi started talking. As he went on and on, too much and too fast for her to interject, Hemera's hand went to her mouth. She looked down at the kit, something to focus on, while a teal blush spread over her face.
"I... I don't know what to say." And, well, she didn't. For once in her life, Hemera couldn't come up with a plan of action, or adapt to the situation smoothly. The outlook between them before had appeared so unsalvageable based on Leeroi's previous reaction.
Yet here he was, talking to her, being upfront. Making an effort. Agaist all expectations.
So, truly, she struggled to figure out what to say. "I thought after what happened at the YTMA, you weren't interested, and if you had ever been you would have lost interest after-" Mera cut herself off with an exasperated exhale. She knew she was rambling.
"But- yes. I want to work this out too. I just...I didn't expect it would be an option." She looked away, biting her lip. They were both smarting, though. Mera knew that much.
She took the med kit with a quiet "Thank you," and rummaged through it a little. Band aids, gauze... Ah. Some gel pills. She pulled those out and swallowed them. "Speaking of medical attention, you certainly took a bit of a fall. So. Um... May I just..."
Mera rolled up his sleeve and applied her trinket to where Leeroi fell on his arm, the effects something like an icy-hot patch.
She sighed and said after a moment, "I'm sorry. For mishandling my feelings like that, especially in a public space." Leeroi, however, did consider their environment. Well, this time at least. "Talking like a regular goddamn troll would have been the right thing to do, but I was too embarrassed and, I guess, nervous." Even now, admitting that she possibly would have feared rejection felt too hard to do.
"This is a bad place and time for a confession, what with an out of control flagship full of daywalkers entering orbit and all. But... You're attractive, you're frustrating, you're endearing, and I want to show you up very badly whenever I'm around you."
With that out of her system, she had to exhale, and admit, "And now I just don't know where to go from here."Hemera heals Leeroi for half health Quote: HP: 20/20 Military-grade Weapon: +1 dmg YTMA Pins:Leadership Training Artifacts:Adept Support Style B Trinkets:Novice Support Style A Power:Novice Defensive Style B (0/1)

With her sergeant clearly occupied otherwise, Eostre cracked her knuckles and approached the redblooded corporal. "Psygki, hey," she said quietly, taking a seat beside her. "You're looking pretty rough there darling," she said, a polite smile on her face.
Eostre opened up her artifact, the jewelry she kept under the collar of her uniform, and pulled out a little medication. "I always keep this for emergencies, and you look like you could use it, hm?" her head tilted and she held her hand out, offering the medicine. She recalled the space tower, which was so long ago, and meeting the redblood then as well. At least she was just as reliable now as she had been then.

Psykgi watched Leeroi go, hoping that that, at least, would turn out well. Hearing her name again, she turned to the LT, her smile about as polite (if a little more tired.) "Oh gosh," she sat up and recieved the medicine, "Thank you - actually, trade?" she took out her own medkit and brought out a small bag... of candies. "... Special formula, energy pills and anti-infection tabs. They usually taste gross as hell, but now they taste..." she laughed, wincing at her side, "Like sugar and peppermint instead. I keep them for emergencies, too..." She took the medicine, and then bandaged herself up as best she could. "We've met before, haven't we?"Quote: 13/20 hp Damage Taken: - Damage Dealt: +1-2 Military Weapon: +1 to damage Military Standard Medical Kit (Adept Artifact Support A) (1/2 Uses, heal one troll 1/2 hp) A Collection of Painkiller Drugs (Novice Trinket Support A) (Uses: 0/1, Charges: 2/3, Heals another troll by half their maximum hp) In training: Troll Relations 0/1 Psy heals Eos and also watches her handiwork from a distance.

"You didn't think I was interested?" He asked, confused but smiling genuinely. After all of those times where he blabbered, joking about making out... did that not translate at all to her? He really didn't understand. Then again, he didn't realize that she was interested in him the whole time. Flinching at Hemera's heal initially, he calmed down as the artifact gave him a nice, soothing feeling to his bruises. Having Hemera heal him now felt more tender, half in a sappy way, half in a ouch-this-still-hurts way. He processed her apology, still smiling. "I thought you were teasing me," Leeroi explained, "Trying to cheat yourself a win." Leeroi looked away, then looked back at Hemera, shoulders raised defensively. "I... know better now," He laughed, soft and nervous. "You're a piece of work, Hemera. But you're like... A fancy piece of work. Like a pretty ice sculpture that they bring out for parties." Leeroi tried to compliment. He smiled, scratching the back of his head. "So... uh, same?" he covered his face with a hand, ashamed at how bad he was at this. "Let just, uh, let's keep moving." Leeroi said, reaching for her wrist to pull her along. "We'll do something after the mission. Like a celebration!"

Hemera shifted the wrist pull into a hand hold while she kept up pace and strove to keep up next to him instead of behind. He wasn't going to drag her anymore.
"Cheating assumes one can't win otherwise. Which, frankly," she smiled, "is not my case." However she would love to never have to grapple again if she could help it. She hated the concept of wrestling, people tossing each other around for sport. Grappling? Just awkward, almost a form of torture for everyone involved.
Still, she had to blush at his comments. So he did think some nice things about her... Kind of hard to imagine.
"A celebration? Is that what they call dates these days?" she teased, and looked back at the others. Their lieutenant appeared ready to go, as well as Psykgi. After two rough encounters, they were still making their way through. They could do this.
She'd have to pocket the med kit as well as her own support trinket, since she wasn't sure she would get what was very likely Psykgi's back to her.
As they continued on, her pumpbiscuit pounding, her ring buzzed. Oh. She had to halt. God...dammit. Timing. Mera sighed. "Hold on." Her hand slipped out of Leeroi's. She raised one hand while the other went to her ring. Mera opened it and scanned.
"We have daywalkers down the hall," she said, loud enough for everyone to hear. "It looks like a good amount. But I can't get a read on potential numbers..."Quote: HP: 20/20 Military-grade Weapon: +1 dmg YTMA Pins:Leadership Training Artifacts:Adept Support Style B Trinkets:Novice Support Style A Power:Novice Defensive Style B (0/1)

Psykgi was so happy that things were going well over there - that alone was inspiring enough to get her moving, and keep her moving. This was why she loved her job - fixing the problems people found themselves in, giving them the push they needed to become better, happier trolls -- better parts of society, less likely to rebel, less likely to get themselves killed and remove that talent from the available pool of skills... Mental health did so many things! And of course, get her moirail into a quadrant with someone who, clearly, was a good match. "Oh wonderful." she said, her bandages pressing uncomfortably against her. More daywalkers. Yay. "I'll take a look..." she peered into the next area before sneaking back. "... Theres' a lot. Lets just say a lot."Quote: 19/20 hp Damage Taken: - Damage Dealt: +1-2 Military Weapon: +1 to damage Military Standard Medical Kit (Adept Artifact Support A) (1/2 Uses, heal one troll 1/2 hp) A Collection of Painkiller Drugs (Novice Trinket Support A) (Uses: 0/1, Charges: 2/3, Heals another troll by half their maximum hp) In training: Troll Relations 0/1 32 Zombies were attracted by the plotness

Eostre kept an eye on all the goings on with her team, and well. It was better than the alternative, if they were getting along. Of course, there was no time for peace and fun times, this was the flagship and it was dangerous. That they'd gotten this far without major injury was a miracle.
And they had more things to fight."Alright everyone, you know the drill! Keep yourself out of trouble," she said.
Eostre saw the daywalkers approach and shoved them, her elbows swinging to keep their distance from the younger members of her crew as they quickly filled the hall. It wasn't much, but she could do that for now. Keep them from being swallowed into their masses.

Yet, here he was, a big blushing mess, wanting to scream but having to keep quiet with the ever present threat of zombies. He sneered a little at her comments, knowing that she probably would have won that fight without distracting him. Whatever, he'd get stronger and win next time anyways. "Yes, Hemera." It was Leeroi's idea of a date. "I'm trying to be subtle." He said sarcastically, but with a wink. He couldn't help but feel disappointed when her hand slipped away. Weirdly enough, he was disappointed when he spotted the zombies as well. Leeroi moved to grab his shotgun, but was quickly overtaken by the horde. Tripping, he fell into the mass and out of sight of his teammates.

Even braced for combat, they were quickly swarmed. Vast numbers, eager to tear at the living. Mera could only hold her boomerang up defensively, warding the clawing hands off with the pointy end. She stayed close to Eostre, and when she looked over, she saw Leeroi disappear.

"Lee!" Psykgi shouted to him as he fell into the hoarde. Gog- that was her new daymare, and like hell was she letting that happen to her moirail. Hemera got a nod as she achknowledged that it had been said - she was doing it anyway. She set into the mass with her axe, trying to clear a path to him. They were still fast and grabby and utterly horrible remnants of elite troops, but she was motivated now to really go at them. A bony claw go ther face as she finally managed to reach him. "Lee! I've got you!" she managed to shout... Right as the mass of daywalkers closed in and blocked off the path she'd made. "s**t!" Any smile she had was gone now - an angry, grim snarl lurked there instead as she pulled out her most intense focus to get to him and get out."Hang in there!"Quote: 12/20 hp Damage Taken: 1 Damage Dealt: 4+1 27/32 Zombies Military Weapon: +1 to damage Military Standard Medical Kit (Adept Artifact Support A) (1/2 Uses, heal one troll 1/2 hp) A Collection of Painkiller Drugs (Novice Trinket Support A) (Uses: 0/1, Charges: 2/3, Heals another troll by half their maximum hp) In training: Troll Relations 0/1

Leeroi disappeared behind her, and though she had Hemera at her side it was still all she could do to just keep them from swarming. With a wide arc, she swung her fists, hitting several closest to her. She almost wished she was the sort to employ long-distance weapons, but... even this didn't really bother her. Shoving her fists into soft, somewhat leathery bodies. Her gloves protected her from the worst of it.
She watched as Psygki took out several of the daywalkers, and pressed on.
