Ace didn't arrive early or late, just on time. He wasn't rush to find his partner, rather he found a comfortable place and relaxed, observed when other people interacted. He admitted that he signed up for fun, maybe it would gain him a new friend or enemy, the unknown was exciting to the Sun trainee. He didn't dress up uniquely for this event, just his usual shredded tank with a pair of matching black skinny jeans. He was a bit interested to find out what his partner would think if they saw his make-up. Ever Ambrodiel seemed a unisex name...... To be honest, he didn't mind gender at all. Both sexes could be interesting though he seemed to attract girls more. Ace grabbed a pillow to put on his laps, then interlaced his hands to support his head, elbow resting on the pillow.

He turned and was surprised by the man who came up to him, temporarily startled vefore he settled into a smile. It was good looking, brunette, and did not appear to be a slob. "Yes, I'm Melvin. Its nice to meet you."
In the commotion of those around them calling out for their partners, Melvin gestured for Sidney to follow him to a pile of unoccupied pillows further off. Neatly arranging some to lay down, he sat and was glad for less noise around then.
"I didn't expect it to be this busy in here but its reassuring to know more people are looking for someone."

Despite the cold nature of the mist traine, the woman named Gretel Sweet had a rather cute casual wear style. Didn't sign up for the event at all, she was told her partner was waiting to meet her at the offices. Maybe her co-workers think she would be softer if she get a boyfriend, maybe they simply want to trick her because of her meaniness, her name was on the list of the speed dating event. Wearing her hunter coat, she was puzzled by how informal the location was. A man welcomed her, she felt his color looked like he was coming out from the game Splatoon. She moved inside after giving the man a long glance, holding a strange sticker writing: "Hello, my name is (blank)". It felt natural to fill in her name but she hesistated. Instead, she found in bemusement, people were introducing themselves. Her straight forward intepretation was it was an orientation for newbies. Thinking it might be the only answer, she allowed herself to relax - - For a moment since she was given a name, a task to locate her partner. Gretel believed that was the step one everyone was carrying on. Land Essex, the name of the person she needed to find, honest speaking, she wasn't the type that would yell someone's name loudly in public. Thus she took a place that she could see people passing by and began to hunt down that wanted person.

As more and more people entered the area, Lena was growing to regret her decision. Sure, it was funny at first, signing up Luka to deal with being paired with a random stranger. Then it had sounded almost... fun. Meeting a new person or two, maybe making a new friend.
It hadn't occurred to her that it would also mean that she'd have to talk to people to make a new friend.
Retrieving her Hello My Name Is tag with "Lena" scribbled across it, she turned around just in time to see a familiar looking face headed towards them. Henry! It was someone she knew! Maybe this wouldn't be so ba.... oh.
Oh.
Henry was here for Luka. Right. Okay, well. Um.
"Hi Henry, it's good to see you," she said quietly, offering the young man a halfway cheerful smile. Adjusting her glasses, she turned to look up at the board nervously.
Nick. She was going to be paired with a Nick.
"You haven't seen Mr. Callahan around have you?" She asked the other boy curiously, fishing for information, "Or at all? Do you know Nick?"
The hand she had wrapped up in Luka's squeezed tightly, her nerves amplifying.

Zane didn't know what to expect as he looked among the gather. Cee could have easily been of any gender, the name not giving him any insight into what type of person he might have been dealing with.
The loud, high pitched cry containing his name however, solved all his problems.
Sheepish smile on his lips he slunk his way over, hand raised. "That'd be me. Assuming you're Cee then." Because why else would she be calling for him? Though, the lipstick kiss on her name tag certainly didn't help.

Inoke wasn't quite sure why he'd signed up for this, he was terrible at talking to people and making friends. But .... He'd been podded for long enough he didn't really even know what was going on anymore. At least doing this whole 'speed dating' thing meant he'd have some sort of version of normal. When he heard his name he looked up, holding up a long arm. "Over here, you must be October?"

Arland 'Land' Essex Finding himself out and about on the island again felt strange-- not nearly as strange as falling asleep for years, though. He didn't exactly recall most of the events that had lead up to the breakdown prior to that. Probably for the best, giving what he could recall. Slender fingers came up to idly fiddle with the charm at his neck. He would have preferred to have had Tivadar with him in full physical form, finding comfort in the weight of the horseman's pick. Life had rules, however, and due to those he would gladly settle for knowing that he at least had his weapon within reach around his neck in the event anything went horribly downhill. It was also a relief to know that somewhere in this room without tables or chairs, with pillows and blankets and other things meant for comfort, he had a friend-- provided Inoke still actually considered him a friend given however long it was he'd been missing. Arland paused at the table to check in, snagging a name to write "LAND" on, using an extra second or two to doodle a couple leaves in one corner and a flower on another. If he'd thought to bring his pencils he might have taken the time to doodle something a bit more impressive, but he hadn't wanted to be late and he didn't want to hold up whatever line might be forming behind him either. While Gretel might not have been the sort to shout out a name, Arland wasn't shy (something that could possibly be assumed from his bright accessories and broad grin). Why waste precious speed dating time with reading name tags when he could just play a little Marco Polo Arland Gretel. "Gretel? Hellooooo, Gretel! Gretel? Nope, sorry... Excuse me.... Gretel!" Meegane Land's wearing the stuff on the left hand side, probably with all of the accessories & sleeves rolled up on his hunter coat. [ x]

Luka's clothes weren't anything fancy; athletic shorts had been swapped for leggings and her traditional pink top had been swapped for a longer tank styled top that fell mid-thigh and matched the tips of her pigtails.
Sure the event was called Speed Dating but she was here with Lele for friends mostly.
The teen had been scribbling her name onto her own sticker when someone called it and her head lifted. Amber eyes caught sight of a familiar face and her grin was wide and happy. "Henry!" She chirped nearly leaning in to kiss his cheeks but she stopped halfway when she remembered the no touching rule.
Okay, that was fine. At least she got matched with someone she knew!!!
"You look nice." She complimented, glancing over at her clearly nervous sister. "It's-- it's good, I think. I'm excited to be matched with you, but we gotta find Lele her partner first." Hopefully that wouldn't be too hard.

So far it was a good start, Melvin was at least cute and looked as if he gave some general care in his looks beyond the wearing t-shirt and cargo shorts to a date. “It is nice to meet you as well, Melvin.” Considering he already knew his name Sidney didn’t feel the need to repeat it a half a dozen times, instead he followed him over to a stack of unoccupied pillows and did his best to make himself comfortable without taking a complete lounging in bed stance. “Yea, I mean I figured the worse case was I at least learned people’s names instead of having to say hey you across the training grounds.” Pulling off his hat, he found a safe spot for it before running his fingers through his hair to straighten it out some.

Joy had dressed up somewhat, under the impression that this was just a sort of get-together party thing. Wedged heels that gave her an extra three inches also made her legs look longer in the dress that ended just above her knees. It wasn't dolled up but she was certainly presentable at least. But finding out it was speed dating had been a shock. One that had Joy looking for Seren to give the starry sun trainee a glare of indignation.
The moon was tempted to just walk right out but like the notice says, that would have made her a d**k. She supposed she could use this as an opportunity to "make friends" at the very least. Slapping on a name-tag of her own, she eventually found her first partner. With a warm smile, she greeted Jolene "Heeeeey, I like your sweater."

Brittney didn't have much to dress up with, so she went with the philosophy of less is more. She'd ditched the sleeveless sweater for a tank top, stuck with her usual shorts, but this time let her hair down.
The name didn't sound familiar. Though to be fair, Britt hadn't gone around learning about other people's names. She still thought of Gale as Blond-Hottie and Roland as Kid-Shorty. And as stupid as the name tags looked, it ******** beat having to go around asking people if they were "Lin Parker, oh hey! Sahara! Nice to see you didn't end up biting the dust back there," pun not intended.

Fredrick realized, quite abruptly, that he'd come at yet another disadvantage. He'd never been speed dating before, of course, so while he was aware that things were meant to go quickly, he hadn't actually...expected them to go so quickly? Here Seren was, in a pretty dress and right to the point with an investigative question that had come so easily he wondered if she'd come prepared with a list. God, he should have made a list, of questions and responses. Or at least worn better clothes to match. It was a date and he was just wearing his usual clothes, coat and all, but he'd left the mask behind at least and-
And he had to answer the question still. Immediately a hand went up to his jaw and his eyes closed, the perfect picture of a thinking pose to buy a few more precious seconds so he wasn't so obviously sitting there gobsmacked. For the life of him, though, he couldn't think of a really good response. One eye cracked open to look at her again, then he let out a sigh and moved his hand back to rub his neck instead.
"Giving you a better answer than this one," he admitted sheepishly. "I'm trying so hard to think of something really impressive sounding that I'm just drawing a blank."

Seren watched her date, curiously, as he made his way through his reactions to her question. For a moment, she got distracted as Joy came in, and caught the glare. Joy got a very confused look in return. Why was Joy indignant? She refocused on her date, though, because she was here for him. She'd check with Joy later to figure out what was wrong. Her head tilted, amused at his 'thoughtful pose' moment. She lifted one of her braids off of her shoulder, and tossed it behind her. With care, just in case some one was in that direction. She didn't want to get accused of assaulting some one with a braid. His answer earned him a genuine laugh, however, and a smile. "Ah I'm sorry if I was too serious right off the bat. I was just trying to follow the rules, yeah? Feel free to ask me questions, though, in return?"

Nick tried not to look too grumpy as she slumped into the room and picked up a nametag. This had been her idea. Well, not the speed dating itself, but signing up so she could keep an eye on her anxious sidekick. Even if it meant some socialization herself, and an attempt to curb the constant swearing for an hour or so, she would be there to kick a** if anyone gave her friend any trouble. Well, time to find her own partner. Slapping the messily written nametag on her shirt, Nick heard her name casually mentioned nearby before even getting a chance to look for this Lena. "'Sup," the small blonde said bluntly, eyeing each of the three teenagers in turn.

Elio's question got an answer in the form of a younger man and it took him a second to realize this must have been the man he was to speed date in question. "Elio Ferrari. You're Vasily yeah?" Hand held out, he smiled. "Should we find a place to sit? I'd prefer a chair but-" He shrugged, hands moving after into his pockets as he took stock of all the assorted pillows and blankets. "-when in Roma. I like your hoodie by the way." Experience told Elio a good way into to a conversation was a compliment. "I'd like to think I could pull such looks off, but I am a coat person myself."
