She arched a brow at him, curiously. "You liked the structure some, I'm guessing?" She said, sounding curious that it never had seemed a blessing not to have to do that. "I don't mind having some scheduled things, but when it came to trying to make sure no job conflicted with each other... Not enjoyable." A soft, annoyed sigh at the thought.
"I would say the same that it ended up on you?" She said, sounding equally surprised. "I can't imagine anyone actually enjoying it, after all." She clearly didn't understand why he said that, about 'some one like you.'

He shrugged.
"The work wasn't bad. I was the odd jobs guy and I liked learning how to do all kinds of stuff." the brunette paused a moment and counted off with the hand hanging off of her shoulder. "I tried just about everything, from real jobs to things around the neighborhood. Just whatever I could do to make a little money. Must've had at least twenty different kinda jobs under my belt before I turned eighteen."
Rhys kept his eyes straight in case she was one of those that was good at reading expressions; he felt his was a little raw at the moment with memories of his youth rushing to the surface right that second.

She was watching his face, what she could see of it. She could only read a little but found herself thinking that they had more in common then she had ever expected. She didn't comment, not wanting to make him uncomfortable. After all, he'd never pushed her on the stuff that came up in conversation when she was uncomfortable.
Instead, she sighed and said "I only worked at the same three places, but yeah. Whatever to get the money, except well. That."

"It's been weird having only one job for the past nearly two years," he said, then huffed at her "that." "Again, smart girl."
Rhys knew how lucky he was to not have to go down that road either, regardless of how many girls he personally knew slipped into that life. One of his easier jobs as a kid was babysitting for some moms that lived in his apartment complex, so he saw the toll that it took up close and personal. More than having three jobs, that life would have been a whole lot worse.
"Since we're past it though," he went on with a sigh, pulling her close in what might have been a comforting manner, "let's just think about what comes after we hit the showers. I was thinkin' breakfast. Where you headed after?"

"I can imagine how weird it would be. It's felt like crazy free time, honestly, to me." She flushed red at being called Smart Girl, and just shrugged a little. "You're smart enough to have avoided it too, so that's a good thing."
She leaned, just a little, into the pull in, because frankly comforting wasn't something she had gotten much of, and it felt odd but nice. "Mmm that's a good idea." She tilted her head, and hmmm'd thoughtfully. "Yeah, Breakfast was my main goal, then maybe some sparring. After, I was thinking I'd work on figuring out the measurements on that recipe you wanted me to teach you."

"Pajeon!" he said clearly too enthusiastically. "That s**t was the bomb! Just remember to gimme a call whenever you need a taste tester, alright? We made a deal."

She giggled at his excitement, not at all put off by how enthusiastic he was. "All right, all right! I promised. I just... You said you can handle some spice, yeah? Got any like... idea how hot is too hot?" There was a hint of anxiousness in her voice. "Cause Korean food can get pretty hot, and I'd hate to blast your tastebuds."

The brunette was all smiles at the idea of well-cooked food, especially considering the cafeteria was typically horrible. The question of how much spice he could handle felt very trivial, but he gave it some thought. "Mm..." he mused, eyes narrowed and directed at the still gray skies. He wasn't nearly as bothered by it now that the topic had gone to food. "Just keep rice and milk handy. I think I can handle whatever you throw at me if those are around."

She enjoyed his honest pleasure at the topic of food, glad she had something she could do for him, given all he had done for her today. If she had her own kitchen and supplies, she'd frankly have been willing to feed him everyday.
"All right, good to know. I wont be holding back, then, overly much." She nodded, and sighed, happily. "I'm glad to have some one I can call on for it."

"Oh, for sure."
His grin stayed on for most of the rest of their walk as the conversation hovered around food basically the rest of the way. Minus the teasing and playful ribbing, which he was getting used to now that he'd been around Seren enough. He didn't really think about the drizzling the rest of the way either, and by the time they made it back to the dorms he was feeling pretty good about the day regardless of how dreary it looked like it would be.
