She had to smirk at that, eyes rolling and head shaking ever so slightly, but honestly, she'd have been surprised if he hadn't made some sort of observational comment on the situation. Kade had a way of being simultaneously gentlemanly and thoroughly male. Switching between the two almost seamlessly.

"Well, it'd just be cruel if I sent you away at this point, so you might as well." One tanned arm came up to gesture to the warm water around her."

Not at all the kind of man to hesitate when a blatant invitation was offered he picked his way through the scrub plants to the edge of the water. "You wouldn't be surprised but most people aren't too worried about being cruel." The button-fly of his jeans was so loose by this point he didn't have to do more than flick a finger at it before gingerly, carefully, pulling them down and off.

Inelegantly Kade flopped down into the water, sighing as the coolness of it soaked into his skin. He was well within touching distance (the pool wasn't that big) and certainly was both able to ogle and be ogled. That was the point. "How old is your back piece?" A hand waved up towards the sun and moon design. "It's badass."

There was the initial polite impulse to avert her gaze as he stripped down and stepped into the water, but after the initial, automatic flick of her eyes away she'd look back, admiring the dark skin, the ink that stood out against it, the body beneath it. Kade wasn't shy, especially not with her.

At his questioned she'd make a soft, curious hum before turning so he could see it better. "The fish and the sun/moon design we're done about three years ago, and I added the antlers last year as a tribute of sorts to a friend that died." There was something solemn in her voice, but she kept the majority of the stronger emotions from leaking out. She was glad the piece was on her back. She wasn't sure she could handle seeing it everyday. "The whole thing is pretty much a tribute at this point."

Tan lines were more than a little dramatic and utterly out of control, delineated harshly at Kade's stomach and right above his knees. His skin was still tan because he'd spent some time sunning nude in a few private places but never as dark as his permanently exposed chest and calves.

He could hear the quiet strain in Peyton's explanation of her tattoo and lifted his leg to show off a design on the outside of his left thigh. "This one's similar." It was an illustration of one of the months from the Tiwanaku sun calendar, seeming to point to a specific day. "I have a sister. She thinks I'm dead now, 'course, but she's got a matching one for my birthday. This is hers." He tapped it before lowering his leg.

Reaching up he touched the H-shaped scar on her ribs. "What about this one?"

She leaned in so she could see the tattoo on his leg better, a hand coming up as if she meant to trace the designs with the tip of a finger, but she stopped just short. "That's really nice. The detail work is impressive."

The poke to the ribs made her blink. And she'd bend to look down at the scar. "Oh, that." She frowned and drew in a long breath, lips twisting up thoughtfully to one side. "Some one thought it'd be fun to carve their initial into my side." Which was the simplest explanation, and true. "They also did the one on my foot." Sitting back to adjust her balance, she'd bring that leg up so he could see the scar tissue in the top and bottom of her foot.

"He was always really fun to fight, but we went too far a lot." It was probably for the best she didn't see much of Jack anymore.

That was completely unexpected and the surprise of her revelations made his features go slack for just a moment. "s**t, yeah. Seems like the kind've thing that went a little too far." His hand hovered while she balanced on one foot just in case her balance should wobble.

When she settled back into the sand he turned out his forearm to show her the Jenga blocks inside. Some had words on them - names, places, dates, dollar amounts. "This one is my favorite though. I had the blocks done when I was eighteen and every time something important happens I fill up another one. Not sure what I'm going to do when they're all full."

The lack of probing questions related to the scars had her looking up at him curiously, but it was something of a relief. It wasn't that she minded talking about them, she didn't, and if he asked again she'd tell him, but it wasn't a happy sort of story. No fun memories, nothing that would have lead to the relaxation they were trying to obtain in the cool little pool they were sitting in.

Another time.

As he held out his arm she'd slid a little closer so she could bring her hands up to hold his wrist, keeping him there so she could read the different names and dates. They didn't mean much to her, but the concept was clever and she liked the design. "Build the tower bigger," she'd offer, the pad of one thumb tracing the bottom of the lowest block.

There would indeed be time. Kade had all but given up hope of leaving this island any time soon and, had he been another man, might have been trying to organize some kind of life here. As it was he was content to take care of the three or four people he gave a s**t about and make his time here more than an interminable stretch of misery.

Fingers against his arm made him smile as he let out a quiet sigh of enjoyment. "At least until it melds with my sleeve. What about you?" He reached out to touch her arm in response, the soft, damp skin of it. "Any plans for more?"

She rolled her eyes up to his face as his fingers brushed her arm, and for just a moment she watched him, that quiet sigh, before taking her hands back so she could draw what little of her hair may have been in the way up off the back of her neck. "I've got a few more, actually." Moving through the water, she'd kneel with her back to him so he could see the constellation on the back of her neck. It was Ursa Major, faint lines connecting the stars that made up the bear. "My sister has one like it on the inside of her wrist, but her's is Ursa minor. It's kind of a thing for us. "

She let her hair go, hands sinking back in the water, but she rose up enough to bring her hips out of the water so the white flowers and leaves that traced low on her sides to follow the slope of her hip bones was visible. White ink outlines, made to look a bit like lace. "And then there's these."

Nora grinned. "Good girl. But I don't feel like sharing my hard earned lunch with anyone else. Do you?"

She managed to make those two words heavier with invitation than they should have been.

Peyton blinked up at her, her brows ticking upward, but after a beat she grinned. "Not really, no." She was usually all over sharing, a by product of a fairly maternal nature and a need to take care of people. But, with someone there to promote a little selfishness, well...

"But we don't need to share our food to get fire." Her grin widened. "You get some kindling together, and I'll provide a flame, deal?"

"Fair enough," she sighed. Anywhere else, Nora might have been able to charm someone else into doing the manual labor for her; hadn't fishing been hard enough? She turned from Peyton and tried her luck anyway, casually roping a nearby hunter with a few sweet words to follow her to the palm trees.

Eventually she returned with an armful of palm fronds and bark shavings, which wouldn't make for the best fire, but it would do.

"Was never really a camper," Nora told her as she set her things down and dusted herself off, trying not to let the sweat trickling down her back and chest disgust her too much. She missed Evan's private shower so much. "Bit as a kid, but past that...You'll have to lead me through making the pit."
