As far as late comers went, Joy definitely was on that list. She'd noticed only belatedly the growing group and their activity by the time majority of the really intriguing and/or pertinent questions were asked. Hell, she didn't even realize what was happening until she noticed the ring being passed around.
"Uh, not quite," Gretchen piped up after Melvin had answered tht bit about deserters. "I mean that's probably happened, too, but you could also get repodded." She frowned, thinking about that. "Which isn't much better, but maybe you'll let you have another chance."
She shrugged, then fell quiet again. Not even a little eager to share how she knew that.

Kade thought for a second and then laughed a bit. "Whose definition of weird? For me it was hooking up with a pre-op translady who passed real well. A relatively tame question and he seemed just a little disappointed by the fact that he didn't feel compelled to answer.

America's cheery smile faded as Melvin questioned Peyton. Suddenly his other questions took on a new shade. More than his answers, the questions he was asking began to reveal something grim. This wasn't friendly or joking. This wasn't a friend or even an aquaintance. This was someone trying to hurt people.

Joy blinked in surprise at the question, then realized her phrasing could use a hell of a lot of work. She laughed in amusement all the same, chill in her judgment of other people's experiences that not only dwarfed but eclipsed her own in comparison. Joy might have not been aware of the kids around but Kade was. Especially since he'd been eyeing America with interest before someone had mentioned her age and that interest had withered like fruit in winter. He was fine with being called perverse and was game for anything but not kids. Not at all.
Raising his eyebrows the brunet leaned over and murmured a foul bit of fantasy into Joy's ear.
