"Most people don't think me brave...just an idiot.... but thank you. One day..you'll find a reason to be brave... brave in you're own way." he watched her and frowned as she made her way to leave. "Hey....what's your name...before you go..."

She stared at him in surprise and smiled "Calise" she said with a slight curtsy as if she had a dress but even without one she still beamed at him before looking worriedly at the door. "I don't think you're an idiot... " she smile shyly and left, locking the door.
It was a little while later before the lock jingled again and the scientist entered with a box and some documents. He looked distracted as he just glanced at Zaku and placed everything down on at counter. "I would ask how is the food but I was informed you didn't eat. That was a pity "

"Stay safe, Calise..." he muttered softly as he sighed and watched her leave.
Some time later, he looked up, tense again as the scientist entered, observing him before he spoke. He stared at him with an analyzing look, "And who told you such a thing..."

"Who told me such a thing... you are amusing" he said with a soft snort as he moved things around, mostly away from Zaku. Finally he turned and placed the box he brought down in front of Zaku and headed back to the mechanism near to the door. Pressing a button an waiting to it to scan is thumbprint the chain loosen just enough for him to move his arms a little. "Open the box" he order with a glint of interest. "And tell me what did you think of you death? Not everyone gets to see the aftermath"

Zaku narrowed his eyes at the scientist but said nothing, watching him move and looking a little apprehensive about all of it, the loosened chains, the box, the orders. He didn't like this. He was staring at it some time, weighing the options of his choices. He reached down and opened it carefully, not sure what to expect on it. "Pretty cool.. Could have used more blood and theatrics but who am I to judge... who was that, anyway?" he spoke nonchalantly.

Inside the box was a bloody middle finger, still slightly warm. The scientist looked satisfied as he opened it then shrugged at his question. "It seems trillion of dollars does over ride the usefulness of some people. Poor dear Penny didn't know what hit her...at least the second and third time. " he said looking thoughtful then shook his head. "Never mind... I am sure you don't agree. " he shrugged. "Well then. You asked me for one good reason you should listen to me.... " he motioned to the box.

Zaku tensed at the finger. But whose? The next words out of the scientists mouth explained just that... "...so you had her killed as me to collect..." he stared seriously at the scientist. While he didn't like Penny for what she did, there was an eir of sympathy for how she died, and so publicly. It was appalling they'd do that to one of their own workers. "A letter of termination from her job would have sufficed.. or are you trying to save on paper..." he hissed. He looked down at the box, then kicked it away from him and just glared at him. "This is ridiculous. And unneeded. I think you fail to understand what a good reason means... You're insane."

"Sometimes when I think you are deep you surprise me with your nativity. Do you think there is just one person...one thing that is the cause of everything?" he asked looking amused at his anger. "That you just have to kill one person and everything dies? Sometimes that works..other times...well.. As you see the Renegades can run quite well without you" he shook his head then. "The money is peanuts to some...it's just principle. " he gave another shrug and turned on the TV at the channel that was playing some type of drama.
"Haven't you ever thought what Metas are the closest to?" he asked randomly, frowning at the drama. "Magi. Magi are as versatile as metas within one element but ... " he trailed off. "They aren't really human are they. Humans are defined by their lack of magic and Magi just aren't that. "
He moved into the menu and switches around before landing on the one he wanted. On the screen Tri was hanging the same way as Zaku, wings binded against his back as he struggled and tried to hold back a look of pain as he glared at the person who was trying to stop the bleeding where his middle finger used to be.
"Very needed. You wanted one good reason to do what I say? There it is on the screen." he put the control down. "It is very simple Zaku... ask much as you think you can't be broken you can. Well... not true. You break or he does"

Zaku was glaring at the scientist as he spoke. All of it was nonsense, a sense of arrogance that pissed him off. Yes, remind him the renegades ran without him. There was a reason for that. If everything hung on only him, then it would all crumble the moment he was gone. No, he had created something greater than that. A notion, a cause that stood on its own regardless of who led it. A double edged sword, but that was the only way to guarantee success even if he met an unfortunate end. This scientist was a quack.
"I've never wondered... and you're wrong... We are children of Gaia..." he snorted softly with amusement. Although, his claims of magis weren't too far off either. "It's a shame that the only people that are worth anything are only the ones like you.... Magic isn't bad. And one day, the humans won't be afraid of it..."
He watched him turn on the tv, expecting to see more news. But when it landed on Tri, his heart sank and it was obvious. Staring at the screen, he hadn't expected to see him. No, he was supposed to be safe... and Hexxis... what would happen to her? He tensed, looking at the box, piecing it together as he almost couldn't believe what he was seeing. You break or he does. Those words echoed in his mind, was it worth that. Was it worth his pain for his cause.
He was trying to think, but his racing mind was clouded with thoughts. Mara would never let this happen.... would she? She had already brainwashed him... It was hard to tell. He was terrified it was the real one. It could be a trick, but he was so conflicted. "...haven't..you done enough to him..." he finally spoke softly. "You bastards think it's funny to play with peoples lives?! To what ******** cause do you feel justified for this crap! To treat us like were ******** animals for your amusement!! You're playing a dangerous game... I just can't understand what thrill you get out of all this." he was pissed, looking like he could just rip through him without hesitation.

"Children of Gaia...huh" he repeated thoughtfully. "Yet you surround yourself only with metas...kill innocents that are not of your race for a specific goal that is ultimately replaced by those people who voted them in. Wouldn't you called yourself a hypocrite? I would" he sighed watching Zaku as if the muse wasn't giving him the reactions he wanted.
"Like him and SIU. All idealistic bullshit because at their core they are using everything to cover that they hate you, hate you for killing someone they know. As for enough... not not nearly enough" he frowned now, a flicker of anger in his eyes. "That B*** did something to make him forget his commands... everything will have to start from square one. I guess our only condolence is that she can't fight that we rightfully own him." he smirked, tapping the controller in thought. "However, his usefulness is sub par...we have better assassins better reconnaissance units. Training adults isn't always useful, they know to much they made up their mind about things and changing them is about as hard as having them change themselves..." he turned to look at Zaku. "Which is why you have to break them until everything about them is gone. " he looked toward Zaku's finger then back. "It is your choice now. What will you do?"

"Because humans don't want a part in our fight. They don't get experimented on like we do, they have rights, what the hell do they need to fight for.... Not even out of sympathy has a single human showed up on my doorstep asking to help. Only metas. Metas that want a better life than to be constantly hunted only because they bear the name of what they are. We targeted those who funded programs like this... Did well to keep evil people who only saw us as objects out of the race.... but it seems we missed one." he warned.
He listened, waiting until the end to finally speak. "Is this the part where I'm suppose to become crestfallen, to swear I'll give in, to break all for his sake just to save him. You'd think me an idiot. In what scenario do you think I'd possibly believe you'd spare him if I were to break for him. There is no win here. Either I keep fighting and you use him to get at me. Or I break, and you still use him and you have us both. You've got to be kidding me..." he growled.

" Kidding? No...I just did not expect a real answer" the scientist explained as he burst out laughing. "I do like you though, you will be fun. So set in your ideology and your ways. " he was taunting him now. "Though...I disagree. You have 10 chances... he will be safe during that time. Well "Safe" "he chuckled. "I doubt you want to give me Silver's location would you? Have her here..cheering you on like when you were younger. If we only had the knowledge we have now then" he moved to pick up the box and turned it upright so Zaku could continue to see what was inside as Tri growled on screen and struggled to do something. "Now simple things. Kneel and bow"

"That doesn't answer anything! Even if I do what you say, you'll just end up hurting him. So whats the difference than postponing the inevitable. There's no difference but some sick game you seem to be playing but no one is buying it." he hissed angrily. He moved forward enough to kick the box away as hard as he could in his anger. Shoot, if he could reach the scientist he would, he strangle him with these damn chains.

The scientist turned serious again as he watched the box flip dropping its contents on the floor. Silently he reached down and picked up the finger and tossed it back to Zaku. "I don't say things twice" he warned and moved back to press a button but instead of tightening the chain the chains loosen completely allowing Zaku room to move and even reach him if he wanted." Kneel" he said quietly.

Zaku stared down the scientist, a steady gaze as it mulled over his options. To break and spare Tri just one more moment...if it really was him... Or to fight, chance getting him hurt, but at least he was doing something about it. His options were thin and few.
There was a moment of hesitation before he moved forward quickly and tried to wrap the chains around the scientists throat. Yeah, anger won out. He was willing to choke the man to death if given the opportunity and that's exactly what he was about to do.
