Nope. Nope nope nope. At this rate, it'd be better if Mahmud put his gogdamned head through a wall than it would be to concentrate on this. With a frustrated little sigh he slapped both hands onto his thighs and leaned forward again, nose practically up against the robotics. Was... was he going to do it? Was this really possible at this rate?

The solution had to be simple. It just had to be. Thats why this was frustrating, more than anything. Because his problem had a simple solution and for the life of him, Mahmud couldn't figure it out. Other trolls were getting through this with no issues at all, and he couldn't get it right.
Okay maybe this time he shed a tear, and quickly wiped it away with the back of his hand. Maybe he could pass it off as sweat. Maybe.But he wouldn't ask for help. Self reliance.

It took a while. There were a few more tears. At one point, if someone listened closely, the boy clearly made a distressed bird peeping noise... but it was fixed. Mahmud finally got what he wanted.
For a few moments he just sat there, watching the arm sway back and forth with its index and middle finger in a "v", but finally he picked it up, gave a weak smile to Loulah, and held it out to her.
"Its... a V... like for Victory." All that for such a simple task. He was embarrassed. Hopefully she didn't berate him too much for how long he took, on top of the questions he asked.

Garand hurried into the Lightseeker's area of the festivities, pleased as could be to see that Loulah was still giving her engineering lessons. He could've stayed here working on the attachments all night, really, if Alien Annihilation didn't catch his attention just as well. He wondered if the gunner had taken time off of this booth to see that one for a moment, then felt a little silly for the thought. Why would she play with laser guns when she had the real deal right here at her fingertips, after all?
Shaking his head, the blueblood picked up another piece of tech, considered how conductive he'd been told it was, and began the process of installing it to the forearm attachment he'd claimed to work on.

He realized, belatedly, that he'd mistaken what that last piece did. Narrowing his eyes, he searched the table for the similarly shaped bit of metal that would complete the circuit there more properly, and found it at last in his lusus' hands. "Oh. Did you have that the whole time?" As Pan launched into a story of how the metal reminded him of something he'd found in the desert near his favorite burrow once, Garand started on the switch.

She too had prosthetics, she needed to learn more about how to repair her arms amongst other things and this was a perfect chance. She tried so hard to pay attention, but she found her eyes and interest wandering towards the orangeblood with all the scars.

And she just couldn't keep her focus on the task at hand, she really should have been able too, but it was hard! She let out a very irritated huff as she attempted to get the connection working.
She furrowed her brow in focus, trying to ignore her fascination with the orangeblood nearby. She had to learn this! It would definitely lower her bills and any cost for repairs in the future. Maybe she could even build her own limbs? the possibilities were limitless, but they wouldn't be anything if she didn't try getting this right!
and with a sigh of relief she got the connection. She laughed in relief at her own ability. "That was tough, sure is a lot of work to maintain this stuff...."

There was an irritated huff off to the side as he finished fixing another piece into place, and Garand paused to glance over. There was a girl with arm prosthetics that he didn't know, and he caught himself wondering both what had happened and whether she had guns installed as well all at once. Just another silly thought, though. Before he could offer to lend a hand, she finished her connection, and he was reminded that he needed to get back to work on his own.

He was getting pretty close, though. Portions of the attachments functionality seemed to be working as intended, but this last connection was being stubborn. Just a little more poking and it would work though, he was sure.

He refused to entertain the notion that he might be stuck. He'd taken notes, the answer was in here somewhere! Garand took a moment to search, then considered what he'd done again, comparing it piece by piece until he thought he'd found a solution.

This had seemed to go so much smoother for him the night before. Was this attachment more complex and he just hadn't noticed? Puzzled but determined, he kept at it. Finally, the current swept through the forearm attachment with a satisfying hum of energy. Perfect. Or, well, as close to as he was going to be getting at this level. He turned to present it to the gunner for her opinions on his work, smiling.

Loulah shrugged. "We're not cutting ties or anything; we're giving back while living on our own. You don't have to turn people away. It's that whole 'working together' thing that trolls don't get. You can cut throats or you can... Ya know..." She gestured vaguely. "Do something else. Watch it, you're--"
As she expected, Mahmud's circuitry ended with a bird flip. She snorted and rolled her eyes, albeit in good nature. The other students of her study were doing very well - including a younger troll with prosthetics of her own.
"Not gonna lie, gonna miss you kids doing field study. Good to see some practical-minded Alternians after all these sweeps."
