July 2017 Math Prompt "GEMDAS is a mnemonic used to remembered the order of operations in math problems; Grouping (such as parentheses), Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction. Today we're going to play a little game to see how much you have learned." Rules: Roll 5 d20s. Treat the numbers as if they are in this pattern: N1 - (N2 + N3) + N4 x N5 = Sum. (Example if I roll 5 d20s and get a 5, 18, 9, 20 and 4 it'd look like this 5 - (18 + 9) + 20 x 4 = 58 ). Post the sum with your result. Post a small RP response in the thread with how your student felt about the assignment. 15 - (4 + 17) + 4 x 20 = 86 Marco blink and blink he read the book, he was getting such a head ache trying to do this math problem he wasn't the math type. He really would rather be out surfing or swimming. He did his best and then turned his assignment into the teacher man why did it have to be math math instead of a different math problem or something. He sighed and banged his head on his desk math problems gah he didn't like math at all, he wished he was a freshling counting that was easy stuff this was gah math gah math sigh.

Micari sighed deeply and she felt like she wanted to cry why did the teacher have to make them do this. She did her best but she wasn't sure that she had done it right. She went to go check with the teacher so she didn't fail the class, she wanted to be good enough so she could move on she couldn't let math trip her up that would be terrible.

She was studying all night before today of all the number she was learning. She didn't get much sleep before school. She was fine with it because she thought today was going to be easy day. She would sleep in class and just copy the note from someone else so she can study's. She didn't really need the note because she was already studying ahead. She filled out her paper and then handed it into the teacher. She left shortly afterward not waiting for class to the end she had other things to do that day than sitting in math class all day. She wanted to get to her next class she had a plan and she wanted to get as many classes done today as she could. Eirian made a list of the classes she needed to take marking them each off as she went.

She got up once she was finished to go and see how she had done on her math assignment. Then she went to go sit back down and make some plans for a new dance she was planning to try in class. She was still going over different dances trying to find the perfect dance for her and her dryad feet.

Plus it was useful. So she payed attention most of the time and tried to go over and pick apart things that she didn't. So the assignment wasn't met with any groan. It was an assignment to put what they had learned to practice. She did have to double check briefly but that was more good practice than anything else.

Bigger numbers took a bit longer to caculate but other than that the assignment was an assignment. Numbers came relatively easy to him, at least easier than some of the people he had seen. he never did understand why people hated math so much. It was easy if you applied yourself and really studied. Then again he suffered when it came to art so he supposed that everyone had things that they were bad against. Finishing up the problem, he double checked the answer before turning it in to the teacher.

She'd been trying to follow in class but watching the world outside her window had been far more appealing in truth! 1...100... and.... URGH! Why were numbers so hard? She'd been teaching herself to sword swallow (Okay it was a Freshlings plastic play sword but still) And had dabbled with fire eating, but Numbers were what really scared her! 195! Okay... Yeah... She thought that was right... wasn't it?!

Math was not a very strong suite of most people, but Jacintha had become pretty good at it. Well... good as in she could do it. So perhaps a better term would be average? Anyhow, today she looked at this equation given to her for this game they were playing and starred at it for a bit, questioning whether she had done it correctly. Today wasn't a good day for numbers, so she couldn't remember the order at which to do stuff for a bit when she first started off. Then it hit her. GEMDAS! That was a thing they had just been taught! So why didn't she use that? It was a good thing she knew GEMDAS now, and it didn't take long for her to solve it like requested. Math wasn't too difficult, but it sure wasn't easy. Hopefully by the time she graduated she would have the math she needed to run a business down, or else she might struggle a bit in the market business.

Post a small RP response in thread with how your student felt about the assignment. "One, Two, Three..." Nevaeh counted quietly, barely audible as she participated in the class assignment. Doing anything out loud was basically her nightmare- she would rather doing anything written down. Nobody stares at you when you write things down. She fidgeted as she continued to count, slowing down and growing more self-conscious with every number. She could feel eyes drilling into her and she wanted to melt in the floor- anything to get away from this torture. "Sixty-nine... Seventy... Seventy-one... Seventy-two.... Umm." She mumbled softly, unwilling and unable to go further.

Post a small RP response in thread with how your student felt about the assignment. Rex began to count, using his claws to aid him; 1 , 2 , 3, 4, 5... he started to stumble when he got to his twenties, forgetting which fingers he had already counted on, he considered asking another Freshling to offer there fingers to help him... 30, 31, 32, 3...3..... He stopped, oh gosh he was in a complete befuddled mess, he chewed on his bottom lip in fustration, He'd been practising really hard, and he thought he'd at least get to the 50's before her struggled like this! Exasperated he let his hands drop to his sides and gave up, Not like him at all but defeated.

Magi started to count but then she got distracted and forgot what she was doing, she started to think a book she had been reading recently about a dragon and a princess. She forgot about counting past 12 not that she couldn't count past 12 but she wasn't very focused on the math assignment at the moment. Magi shook her head and sat back down and started to doodle in her notebook, she thought Math was kinda boring anyway and was looking forward to math class ending soon. She sighed and looked around to see how the others freshlings were doing.

Aelius Jr was able to count pretty high before he got bored counting and sat down to read one his books on magic that he borrowed from his mommy, he was looking forward to junior year when he would be able to learn magic. Aelius wanted to do so much, math really wasn't in his game plan though he knew he had to take math class a bunch more times before he graduated from the school. He sighed such was life he wouldn't be able to get out of it, the below required he have a proper education for him to grow up and he needed that so he could become strong enough to do magic.
