Dereck had decided that he was going to go and check up on Grace, given the fact that he did not believe the reply Devil gave him the night before. He knew a lot of the guys looked at his sister, she was very pretty. But, he wanted to make sure she was not going to get hurt, and based on Orion's track record, Grace would end up getting hurt if she fell for his charm.
The ride to Shadow Creek was uneventful, it seemed like the Outcasts might have calmed down for a little while, at least. It wasn't until he got closer to the club that he caught sight of Cadence, and she was running. He made a quick u-turn and drove up next to where she was.
"Hey! Where are you off to so quick? You know being alone isn't safe anymore, especially not after what happened to Grace."
Dereck followed her slowly, keeping pace with her. She really did look upset, though.
"You are way too pretty to be frowning...tell you what.."
He cut off his bike and hopped off, jogging to catch up with Cadence before he grabbed her shoulders gently, turning her around to face him.
"How about you come with me for a ride? We can go somewhere I usually go when I need to clear my mind. You don't have to tell me why you are upset if you don't want to, okay?"
He offered her a small smile, and gently placed his thumb under her chin to lift her eyes to meet his own.
"What do you say? Let's go get our minds off of all this chaos."
Dereck may be a bad boy, but he was indeed a hopeless romantic on the inside. He had never had a relationship end on bad terms because he was so sweet to nearly every girl he met.

Grace nearly jumped out of her skin when Devil joined her on the balcony. She had no idea anyone had followed her. When she looked over at him, he was offering her a cigarette, and she just waved her hand at it. "No thanks. I only smoke when I'm drinking." She smiled at him and looked out over the town, sighing softly. "It's beautiful.." They spent a few hours up on the balcony, just talking about anything and everything, and finally they returned to the room where she was staying.

The next morning Grace woke up to the sound of screaming, and things being thrown around. She sat up in bed quickly, for a moment she thought that the Outcasts had found where she was and were coming back to finish the job, but that was not the case. She quickly climbed out of the bed, she was wearing an oversized t-shirt, and just her regular underwear. They were all adults here, it wasn't like these men have never seen a woman in her underwear before. Grace scurried out of her room, and by the time she got to Orion's room things were pretty much calmed down, though, she could have sworn she heard Cadie's voice.
Grace brought her hand up to Orion's door, and knocked on it gently. She couldn't help that she was a nurse and loved to help people, whether it be emotional pains or physical.
"Rion? Hey, is everything alright?" She was leaning against the doorframe, close to his door so she could hear him if he wanted her to go away, or come in.

Cadence was in fact so spooked that initial she really did not notice Dereck. Hard thing to imagine considering his looks, and the very energy of his presence.

She noticed him and gave a startled yip. One hand shot up to cover her mouth a few seconds. Then she gave a sigh of relief.
"I'm sorry! I was in..." She glanced back at the house then at Dereck. She forced a little smile before nodding.
"I know it's not safe..." She was suddenly feeling emotional.

It happened a lot to her. If she was too angry or even too frightened/upset she got emotional and felt like crying. She hated hate! She always prided herself on being tough and rational.
"Yes. Let's go. Anywhere but here!" She walked back toward his bike with him.

Her eyes on the ground. She was doing her best to fight her tears, and calm herself. She could not go to pieces in front of this man. How silly he would think her!

Orion knew he should tell Grace to go away. Anyone else he would have. Grace though...he could hear the concern in her voice. There wasn't fear or curiousity, but concern.

That was a foreign concept to him. He was not use to people worrying or caring about him just because. He was accustom to people and their ulterior motives.

In this situation Grace had absolutely nothing to game from checking on him. She had no loyalty to his Club, or even him.
"You can come in..." He was seated on the mattress on the floor. His bloody hands in his hair. Bits of broken mirror littered the room. A broken lamp added to the glittering shards about his room.

Posters and pictures lay ripped or in broken frames through the room. A upturned nightstand. His bed was flipped. It looked like a storm had passed through his room.

His temper was one thing he truly hated about himself. He always had, it was something that frightened even him at times. He would go into these rages and literally just see red. Often he didn't remember much about what happened.

This time unfortunately he did. It was contributing to the shitty feeling he had inside. He had become his Father again.

He always swore to himself he would never become that man. That man who abandoned his Club, cheated on his family and forced them to live on edge because of his temper.

Now Rion did not consider himself a gentleman, by far. He was a good guy though. He treated women with respect, even if she was acting in a way that didn't deserve it. That being said he had yelled at a woman from time to time. Never hit one, or even really wanted too. It was why it was surprising and hurt so bad to know that he could, or more like almost had hurt one. Worse, it was his sister he nearly hurt.

The one person in the world he should truly protect. That he should never even consider hurting. He crossed his arms placing them over his knees. He bounced his forehead off of them.
"Who the f*ck am I...?" He questioned himself, knowing there would be no answer.

Dereck nodded his head to her, offering a smile. He was glad she agreed to go with him, especially seeing that she was so upset about something. If he could help her feel better, at all, he would do his best.
"Awesome, come on."
He got onto his bike, and started it up. The engine revved loudly a few times before he looked over his shoulder at the petite brunette.
"Hold on tight, the last thing I need is to be held responsible because you fell off my bike."
Dereck was joking, of course. He would not let anything happen to her, but his attempt to lighten the mood was just to make her feel a bit better. Once they drove off, they were on the road for about 30 minutes. They drove through Shadow Creek, to Greensville, and even farther than that. Once they got where he wanted to take her, they were somewhere in some mountains. It was green all around them, and the only sign of life they could hear were birds chirping. He parked his bike, and when he got off her offered Cadie his hand.
"Okay, I promise I'm not here to kill you and dump your body. Come with me."
Ever since he was a kid he would come here to clear his mind. His parents used to own a cabin here, years ago. It was now probably run down and occupied by all sorts of animals.
Dereck led Cadie through some trees, and when they finally got where he was going they were looking over a small pond. Across the way was a waterfall.
"Isn't this place beautiful? So peaceful?"
He took a seat on the edge of the cliff, looking down to the water.

Grace looked around his room for a moment, and she made sure to close the door behind her so Devil wouldn't just come barging inside. His room was a complete mess. Destroyed. When she finally caught sight of his knuckles, Grace knelt down beside him, grabbing his hands softly.
"You did a number on your hands..." Her voice was soft, she was not the least bit accusing. Then she stood up and walked into his bathroom, taking a washcloth. She got it wet with some cold water and returned, sitting next to Orion on the ground.
She grabbed his hand once more, taking the washcloth to gently clean the blood and his wounds.
"You are a great guy..You do so much for the people around you.." Her blue eyes were focused on his hand as she spoke, her touch was gentle. "You are caring, compassionate, and you work way too hard to be this hard on yourself. We all make mistakes, and everyone has something they don't like about themselves." She was done with one of his hands, so she moved on to the other.
"I don't know what happened in here, and I am not sure if it is any of my business. But for what it's worth, I think you're a really good person. We all have our weak moments.." She finished cleaning his hands off, and now she looked up at him.

Cadence chuckled and shook her head. Her falling off would hurt but also kinda be hysterical. She was the kind of girl who laughed at her own stupidity. She enjoyed laughing, and could be amazingly silly.

"You would have to catch me before you could kill me!" She struck a fake Karate pose. Though in reality she had studied Tae Kwon Do for several years, so she was not exactly a defenseless little princess.

Cadence stared out at the beautiful scene before her. She was speechless for a moment. The place was probably one of the most beautiful places she had seem in a long time. Ir seemed so tranquil and dreamy.
"Yes....beautiful." She was quiet for a few minutes.
"This is your thinking place?" She asked then gave him a small smile.
"Thank you. I know how private and even sentimental some of our personal thinking places can be..." She was thinking of this one place her Father use to take her when she was small.

It was their special place he called it. She remembered it so well because those were the few peaceful times she actually had with her Father. Where there was fighting, drama or yelling. He once told her that was his sanctuary. The place he went to leave his problems behind for a while. She didn't know what he meant at the time because what troubles does a 7 year old really have?

Orion was aware of the pain in his hands, and even the pain from her tending to his wounds. The pain seem to come from far away though. As it often did when he felt lost. He allowed her to tend to his hands, because she wanted to help. This was her way of helping. It was what she did. She cared for people.

He learned long ago it was best to let people do whatever it was that came natural to them. He listened to her speak. Allowing her calming voice to soothe him. To help bring him back from the darkness he was feeling.
"Right. Good guy..." He sneered.
"Hardly...." He replied and turned away from Grace.

"Good people don't do the things I do Grace. They don't run guns. They don't trash or destroy things, places. They don't go to war with others over something like....territory." He stood up and kicked away one of the few pictures he had of just him and his Father.
"I may do good deeds...and have good intentions but you know what they say. The road to hell is paved in good intentions."

He took Grace's hand, and lead her back to the door. He paused before he opened it.
"Thank you....but...you shouldn't be in here. I'm an Angel. We're not to be trusted..." He opened the door for her and waited for her to pass through.

Dereck kept his eyes looking out over the pond, it was almost like he wasn't a part of a big gang. It was almost like he wasn't about to wage a war with guys he didn't know. Almost. His blue eyes tore away from the scene before him, to look at Cadence. With the sun shining on her face, it lit her up almost like a goddess. Her hair was reflecting some of the warm rays, and the way the sun reflected in her eyes made him lost, only for a few moments.
"Yeah, I come here when I need to think in peace. It's almost like here I'm Dereck. I'm not the President of the Reapers, I'm myself. It's hard to stay true to yourself when you have so many people watching you and expecting certain things from you." He patted the spot next to him, signaling for her to sit next to him.
When she did, he looked over at her once more. Here they were able to just be themselves. There were no labels, no expectations. "You know, I don't even remember why we are supposed to hate your brother and the Angels. I see how Grace loves everyone, treats everyone the same and I wish I could do that..." He bit his lip, letting out a sigh. It was a lot harder then it looked having to make the decisions he had to make. He has seen so many people get hurt, and even some die because of this lifestyle.

Grace frowned at Orion when he stood up. He really though low of himself. When he kicked away a picture, she felt herself jump. It wasn't something she was expecting. Though, when he reached his hand down to help her up, she took it. He led her to the door, and she felt a lump forming in her throat. From seeing Orion in public noone would think that he was dealing with such personal demons.
"I trust you. You took such care of me after the attack.." Her voice was a whisper as she stepped out of his room, rubbing her arm. "I'll gather my things, we should be out of here in an hour or so. If you ever want to talk, you know where to find me." She smiled at him and walked back into her room, changing into some jeans and a form fitting black t shirt. Her blonde hair was pulled into a long braid that rested over her shoulder.
"Dev, you ready to take me home?" She placed her hand on the shoulder of the larger man, shaking him gently.

Cadence settled herself beside Dereck, and snuggled up beside him. She laid her head against his arm. Just taking in the view and listening to him speak.
"I get it... Expectations..." She closed her eyes. She understood all too well what other people's expectations could do to a person. It was the hell she was living in, and had been living in.

She lifted her head and looked at Dereck. She chuckled and playfully bummed him with her shoulder.
"There is so reason for you and Orion to hate one another. It is literally just a d*ck swinging contest with you two. You two are essentially doing the the same sh*t. Have the same goals. You both just want to be in charge and want it done your way. Other then that you two really are the same." She looked away.
"Heavy is the head that wears the crown..." She commented with disgust. She turned back to him and smiled softly.
"Got Shakespearean on your a*s!" She teased.

She lifted his arm, and draped it over her shoulders. She huddled closer to him. Her skin was chilled. She laid her head against his shoulder.
"Look...we all struggle. We all have our demons. Life is about the struggle. How you handle it, how you overcome it. We are all waging war every single day, and it is within ourselves. We have to make the decision daily, sometimes several times a day. The decision to be a better person then we were yesterday, to try to be the person we want to be.

Saint Grace, as great as a person as she is....she has to work at it everyday I bet. You give her sh*t about not being a ride or die type of chic, but she is true to herself. She knows who she is and what kind of person she wants to be. That is brave and strong. She is fierce! She doesn't let this...all this....noise."
She waved a hand dismissively.
"Get to her. She realize this is just all bullsh*t. All part of the struggle. Another distraction to keep you focused on the wrong sh*t in life. I mean really stop and think. What will this Club bring you? What has this Club cost you so far? What sacrifices have you made for the sake of your Club? Don't you think one day when your 40 your going to look about and have regrets? You might have kids...you might not. They could end up dead in one of these random acts of gang violence. You might have an Old Lady...what for? You'll f*ck anything with a pulse and v****a. It won't be about love with either of them, because the Club will always jeopardize that which you love. Don't believe me? Think about Grace. She was attacked because of her connection to you. Why did that connection matter? Because of this...." She touched his President patch.

She pulled away, stood up and brushed herself off. She seemed upset again.
"I hate this life. I hate that my Mother was in this life. I hate that my Father was. I hate that my brother is. I hate that Devil is. I hate that Jasper is. This life is destructive! All I have ever wanted has always been out of reach because of this awful life." Cadence brushed her hair back. She was aggravated, upset and pissed off.
"We should head back..."

Orion placed a hand on Grace's shoulder to stop her. He hesitated unsure what to say to her. He wanted Grace to stay, he wanted that more then anything he had ever wanted up until this point in his life. He pulled his hand away from her shoulder.
"Take care of yourself Grace." He finally said and closed his door. He did not want to see her walk out of his life.

He wanted to be with Grace her realized. Or at least around her. He knew damn well he could never be with her. He was nothing more then a thug, leader of a biker gang. He had enemies, he had a record, he had nothing to offer a woman like Grace. She was educated, smart, kind, classy and most importantly she hated the life.

He slammed his bandaged hands against the wall. Then he banged his head against the wall. What the hell was wrong with him?! Falling for the sister of his enemy! This was some Romeo and Juliet type of sh*t and he knew how well their story ended.

Devil stared at Grace once she returned to her room. He walked over to her and took her face in his hands. He tilted her head back so he could stare into her pretty eyes. He could see the concern and confusion clouding them.
"Rule number one Gracie, never fall in love. Rule number two, never fall in love with the enemy. Don't bother trying to deny it either. I am not blind or stupid. Please, please. Just this once....listen to me on this. No good can come of this. It will destroy everything Grace. Orion is an Angel, your brother is the President of the Reapers. You ex who will never give you up, is a Reaper. They will hunt him down." He pressed his forehead against hers a moment, then pulled away.
"Pack up, let's get out of here." He waited for her to pack what she needed, then took the bag and lead her out to his bike.

Dereck was a bit surprised when she sat next to him, and even more surprised when she lifted his arm to wrap around her shoulders. Just because it surprised him didn't mean that he didn't like it, because he did. He accepted the invitation, and tightened his arm around her. What she was saying to him, she was right. It was nice to be able to talk to someone about all of this, and not have them think he was being a little b***h about it.
When she brought up what happened to Grace, he closed his eyes, attempting to push away the mental image that had formed. "What those monsters did to my sister, will not go unpunished." When she stood up, he followed suit. This was his life, and there was no way he was going to give it up. "Look, I get where you are coming from, I do. But I'm not going to leave this lifestyle. Grace made a decision when she moved to Shadow Creek, and despite my best efforts I am not able to take care of her over there. Shadow Creek belongs to your brother." He made his way over to his motorcycle and got on, waiting for her to join him. He loved his sister, more then anything, but the decision she made to move to Shadow Creek was a stupid one, and it meant that his protection would not keep her safe over there.

Dereck drove Cadence back to the Angels clubhouse, and quickly turned around to leave. Grace's car was gone, and so was Devils bike so she must have gone home already. He was not going to hang around in Shadow Creek, though, so he made his way back to Greensville. When he arrived at the clubhouse there, he grabbed a beer and took a seat, letting out a frustrated sigh.

When Devil approached her Grace braced herself. It was like she knew what he was going to say before he had to say it. She looked into his eyes, letting out a sigh. "What you guys don't seem to understand is that I am not a Reaper, nor an Angel." She grabbed her bag off of the floor, and tossed it over her shoulder. "I don't wear a cut. I hate it hoe you guys think I can't have a relationship with someone based because they are with the Angels. What about you and Cadence? You loved her and she is the sister of the leader of the Angels." She was starting to get angry, and needed to take a deep breath and calm herself.
As they walked out to her car, she tossed her bag into the trunk. "Look, Orion doesn't care about me. He doesn't see me that way. To him, I am just the enemies sister. You have nothing to worry about." She kissed his cheek before she hopped into her car. Devil followed her home, and even inspected her house before she was allowed inside. After that she made him leave. They are in Shadow Creek, after all. Grace took a shower and changed into some shorts and a tank. Clothes to lounge around in.
There was a part of her that wanted to think Orion actually liked her, even if it was just as a friend, but that might have been to much to expect.
She pulled out her phone, shooting a text to Cadie.
Your brother was really upset, he could use some comfort.
After she sent it she called for some pizza to be delivered. She still had a few days before she had to go back to work at the hospital, so she was going to enjoy the time off and relax at home.

PostPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2016 6:46 am

Cadence hopped on the bike. Mentally she though about how idiotic all these men were. All grown men squabbling like 4 year olds. She kept the thought to herself. Besides why the hell did she care? This wasn't her life. Her life was miles and miles away. It was in her tiny apartment, with her two jobs and part time school career since she was cut off again.

She could go back to town, back her sh*t and be gone. Be away from this drama and these silly boys in a matter of hours. She climbed on behind Dereck, linked her arms about him.
"You know...I did not mean allow what happened to Grace to go unpunished. No. They should be made to suffer horribly for that. They broke the rules. Everyone knows the unspoken rules of conduct." She grew silent as she thought about what he said about Grace's move.
"So....wouldn't it be easier to form a working truce with the Angels? A working relationship would allow you to come and go freely. If you guys were working together rather then fighting each other you might be better off." She bit her lip. There went her mouth again!
"I'm sorry. Club business. I am not a Member of either so I should just shut up."

Devil disagreed with Grace on several points. He was not about to argue the points with her though. It wouldn't do any good since she was in stubborn little sister mode. His first point was the one she would probably fight the most. She was a Reaper, not a member like he or her brother was. She was a Reaper though, she was their property pretty much. She was related to the President. She dated one.

To the outside world she was an Old Lady, she just hadn't been officially claimed. She was under their protection where she liked it or not. Other groups would not like at her and say 'Hey! There is that Nurse!'. No they would look at her and say there is the Reapers' girl.

It was hard to be a female and life the life. You were automatically protected when you came into the life, though no one specifically would ride for you unless you were attached. So honestly Grace's best bet was to get attached, and fast.

Second point was Cadence. That is EXACTLY why he knew a relationship between Orion and Grace could never work. He was all about his Club, he was even President. He would never give it up. This he knew, because he himself wasn't even a President. Hell he was newly patched in and wouldn't give it up for Cadence. Not then, not now. His Club was his life. So that meant Cadence would have to become an Old Lady to him, and her loyalties to the Angels would have to cease. That would be hard with the blood ties, and her ties to her community. Plus her brother wouldn't allow it. Hell if her brother was not running things over there, he could easily see her switching her allegiance getting her killed.

They would see her as a trader. They would be afraid that she might rat. That is if they were paranoid enough, or had enough to lose. His final point was that Orion did in fact have a thing for her. He could tell. He was a man, and the signs were obvious to him. Orion just was bound by his Club, not free to do what it is he wanted to do.

Law was in a particularly foul mood. He wanted to stir up some trouble. It would take his mind off of the other things that were eating at him. He barged in Ace's room, and kicked at the bed.
"Let's go! Let's pay a visit to our Reapers!" He ignored the woman trying to cover up. She was squawking about and carrying on.
"Shut your mouth, before I shut it for you!" The woman instantly shut up and she looked terrified. Good, she needed to learn his place.

Cadie got Grace's text and twisted a lock of hair about her finger nervously. She looked up at the Club house and then back to her car. She finally texted Grace back.
I know. I am the source of this latest drama. I am giving him space though. I am going to see if my car is ready tomorrow. If so I am leaving. So I guess this is goodbye. I have no real reason to ever set foot in Shadow Creek again.

Cadence went back to her car. She sat in it for a few minutes. She felt like such a coward. She was taking off. Running, like she always did. It was what she did best after all. She leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. She was disgusted with the thought of running but knew this wasn't her fight.

Her dark hair spilled over the sides of the seat. She tried to focus on her breathing. She needed to calm herself. Needed to thing. She opened her eyes and grabbed her phone. She quickly began to text Grace again.

Dereck needed to drink. He needed to get drunk and get his mind off of everything. Cadence was right, everything she said made sense. He should get together with Orion and work up some sort of working truce. It would help ensure the safety of Grace, and Cadence. That was what mattered most. He was on his sixth beer when Devil returned, and he looked over at him. "D-Did my sister get home...okay?" He stood up, stumbling over to the large man. He was not planning on doing anything other than drinking and sulking. He needed to let go of all these responsibilities for a little while.

Grace was enjoying some Netflix movie when Cadence sent her a message. She was sad to see that she was planning on leaving, but if that is what she needed to do then Grace understood. She had responsibilities herself that she needed to keep to. The next message she received from Cadence, made her shake her head. She could not just uproot and leave the life she created for herself. No matter what Devil said, she did not consider herself a Reaper. Jackson didn't own her, and Dereck certainly did not own her.
I can't. It sounds nice but I have a life here. When you get back home be sure to message me and I can maybe plan some kind of vacation with you. <3
She sent the message, and returned to her place on the couch. Grace was still upset about the conversation between her and Devil. He made it seem like she was a piece of meat, or something. That she was an object that had a label and was owned.

Ace grumbled some curse words, pushing the naked woman off of his bed. It had been about a week since they attacked the Reaper girl, and it looked like Law was ready to do something else. "I still have her address written down...somewhere." He rolled out of the bed, grabbing a beer that had been sitting out, and he drank it. Once he was up and dressed, he walked outside with Law, looking over his shoulder at him. "What did you have in mind?" He was excited, and he kind of missed the blonde girl from earlier in the week. She had put up more of a fight then Cole's wife when they roughed her up.

Immediately Devil went to Dereck's side. He lead him back to his chair. He pushed him into the seat and clapped him on the shoulder.
"She's fine. She was tired of looking at my ugly mug and sent me away." He grabbed two beers and set them on the table. Then he set up two shot glasses, and poured them each a double shot whisky.

He set a shot down in front of Dereck. He looked him over a second. Something was eating at him clearly. He would not ask though. The President shared what he wanted when he wanted. It was not hid place to question him.
"Have a Devil's Black Out special." He poured three more double shots. One of Tequila, which made him rage normally. You always knew it was going to get ugly if you saw Devil slamming back the Tequila. Then he poured a two shot of vodka, finally a double shot of rum.

He lined them up all in front of Dereck. He sat down across from the leader. He popped open his beer and flicked the bottle cap away.
"Now I accept no responsibility for any children conceived during this black out night, or any bones that may end up broken." He was joking but then again his son was conceived on one of his many black out nights.
"Don't get yourself arrested either. I want to sleep in tomorrow...." He sipped him beer.
"Where is Jackson?" He asked as he looked around.
