The cats calm once their personal space is no longer being infringed upon. Those native to this place continue to pass between the cats, some stopping to bow or curtsey before the fluffy creatures. Once the great entryway has begun to clear, one of the cats audibly clears its throat. "Excuse me, humans," says the cat. It doesn't have a high squeaky voice, as one might have expected, nor a deep booming voice. It's a very normal voice, actually, the sort heard over a customer service hotline. "Please attend. Humans! Please attend."

jeremiah mercer || 25/25 || u wanted nasir vasile || 25/25 || attention kitties? Jeremiah nodded towards Shun when he saw him, not quite sure how the other detective would react to the fact that his eyes were glowing here. Not that it seemed to bother the older detective much, it afforded him a better view in the limited lighting sometimes. His head tilted towards the cats as they spot. "Looks like we should focus that way." An arm went around Algie and squeezed briefly before he was herding his group that direction. (That does include you, Zac and Marcus.) "Did you-" Nasir blinked as the cats spoke. He was wandering closer, hand tangled with Wil's, towards the speaking cats. "They spoke," he whispered quietly to Wil, not wanting to be rude towards them but wanting to see what was going on.

Shun Kuroda 25/25 | Paying attention to the cats In response to Connor's arrival, Shun returned the nod of greeting to the other man. He wasn't really able to say anything to either him or Jeremiah, when he heard a voice calling for attention. He turned, only to find that it was the cats at the gate saying it. A subtle frown crossed his features as he folded his arms. He didn't like talking animals too much. But, he would see what they wanted.

algernon mercer: 25/25, attending wil azevedo: 25/25, attending Alg caught Jeremiah's hand as they moved towards the calling cat. There was a nervousness to him now that something was happening but nothing about his face betrayed it. Wil seemed to straighten up when the cats called, hiding the joint back in the hidden pocket of his pants. He stood up, since they were humans obviously and were being beckoned. "Do you think Hellbine and Violetta are here?" Weren't they magic cats? Do all magic cats know eachother? Was that species-ist? Was that a thing?

Zac Bantock | 25/25 | Attending the cats - all duly deserved deference. Stick a fork in him, he's done. If Zac had been about to do more than nod his greeting to Marcus, the thought was lost, along with most others with utter delight at two things. 1) Cats. 2) TALKING Cats. His jaw dropped and he stared with an expression that said had he been trying to think of magic at the time he'd very likely have had hearts fluttering around him like butterflies. "... I wonder if Mogget can talk here." He said almost a whisper, but while also trying to be especially polite and respectful because the talking cats were being polite.

Chel | 25/25 | Listening to Cats
It was a testament to her character that Chel barely flinched, only turned and gave a little grin when she recognized who it was.
" But then the cats decided it was time for some kind of announcement. Chel hooked her arm around Connor's in a casual sort of way and gave Juniper a wink before turning her attentions to the cat. Under her breath, she muttered to Connor, "This is prolly about time for a p***y joke y'know."

Lily Babineaux: 25/25 - Approaching the cats When Lily looked up back to see her date in a shock of green and ruffled creams, she paused for a moment with the reverent awe that others were using to look at the scenery or the twin moons. "Oh, um...nice," she remarked, her thin lips curling into a smile. A moment later, she blinked and composed herself with a scoff of a laugh, rubbing at the alabaster nose of her mask sheepishly. "Yeah, it's a good thing we kept it casual, right? I mean, otherwise we might have both been a little overdressed." She laughed in spite of her usual demeanor, looking away from Nathaniel as she heard voices from the gate-cats. Of course they could talk. Cheaters. "That's our cue," she nodded pointedly in the direction of the doors, walking forward to join the rest of the painted company. As an afterthought, she reached back for one of Nathaniel's hands, holding it gingerly between her own clawed fingertips. "If anyone offers you, um...fruit or whatever, just...don't." It was difficult to tell if Lily was flustered or just distracted by a number of faces she couldn't quite recognize.

Nathaniel Parrish: 25 / 25 - approaching cats with Lily
He laughed, giving a shake of his head.
"True," Nathaniel admitted, somewhat ruefully, as he glanced down at his new ensemble. It was still a little mystifying as to how it had happened in the first place - but, well, he'd been warned. Lily had said there would be some weird things happening, and now he was just sort of...going along with it.
It was kind of fascinating, really. He turned to look at the cats, head tilted to one side, Nathaniel's eyes narrowing slightly behind his mask in their direction, mostly out of thought, rather than irritation. Cats, last he'd checked, were not supposed to talk.
Curiouser and curiouser, Nathaniel mused, as Lily reached for one of his hands; he allowed her to guide him over towards the others, glancing down at her peculiarly clawed fingers with some interest, though he said nothing aloud.
"Oh?" he said, blinking in surprise. "Er, all right, then. No fruit or anything...um...do talking cats happen often?"

The speaking cat spins in place on its pillow. It is majestically fluffy and handsome as all-get-out. This, right here, is a Quest-Giving Cat. A mysterious mentor for this mysterious evening, to be sure. It sits, and wraps its tail around its paws, and says, "Surely the humans are wondering why they are here! I will tell you. Humans, there is tonight to be a murder in this Court, and you are the only ones who can stop it!" The cat smiles that cheshire smile again, ears pricking up like isn't this the most exciting thing to happen in your sad, pathetic human lives. "So you must go into the ball and save a life! You must discover the foul assassin and its target, humans, and prevent a calamity from falling upon you and all your kind! "But this is not too easy for you. There will be agents of your Enemy, people wearing the faces of your trusted friends, and allies in strange places! You must be smart, humans, very smart, and very brave." The other cat swishes its tail off the side of its pillow. "It is too late to turn back," it says, its voice just as forgettable as the first. "The only way out is through. But it is not time for you to enter yet, no, so ask your many questions and we will give what guidance we have."

jeremiah mercer || 25/25 || r u srs cats? asking them a question nasir vasile || 25/25 || q ___ q murder? Jeremiah let out a near silent growl that Algie would only hear because he was so close. A murder mystery with real stakes? Again? The detective lieutenant shook his head and look towards the cats (that were far too adorable). "How long do we have to stop the murder from happening?" he asked. Nasir, on the other hand, was no longer quite sure he was going to enjoy this evening. They had to stop a murder???

Juniper Wilcox | 25/25 | With Shun, Chell, Connor and asking Cats a question.Juniper smiled. "Hey, I am trying to actually enjoy the evening if I can." She responded to Chell as the woman clapped her on the back. At the mention of joining the rest of the people who were gathering by the gates, Juniper happily joined Shun and Chell. After all, if she was going to attempt and have fun tonight, she'd be better off sticking with some people. As Connor joined them, Juniper gave him a curt nod in return. Seems not everyone is over the whole theatre debaucle. She mused. Ah well, whatever. It wouldn't bother her anymore. She had said her apologies and everyone got out fine. If people want to hold it over her that was their own business and wasted energy. As the feline's began talking, Juniper was not one bit surprised. Not after Dee. She was vaguely amused at the fact that the cats had quite the high-and-mighty attitude to them similar to her own cat Star who was now probably lounging around on Junipers bed without a care in the world. And then...things took a turn. Guess I may not get to enjoy this night."Wait. So, we were all called here to stop a murder?" This all seemed so odd. Was this suppose to be some sort of game? "Can you give us any hints or clues?" Might as well play along for now, right? Seemed odd though that they knew it was actually going to happen. Assuming it wasn't part of the 'entertainment' for tonight.

Alexis Tucker / 25/25 / finding their one bastion of sanity in this messThere were things Alexis should have done, surely, but their priority at the moment was finding someone they actually cared about (which was a roster of very few) -- and Autumn fit the bill, in her ballgown and gilded gold. They swept up to her in a shimmer of teal, strangely quiet on the floor, and said -- in a close approximation of Autumn's own voice -- "Fancy seeing you here, missy." --- Ashton Carver / 25/25 / Interacting w/ Jordan, Cat"Security is one way to put it," Ashton muttered, her eyes flickering to the multitude of nigh-inhumane forms frolicking around the ballroom. "They don't look particularly intimidating, but I wouldn't take them for granted this way. Magic is strange like that." She quieted as soon as the cat started speaking, though, one hand moving up to the antlers of her mask to flick stray dust motes away with dark, clawed fingernails. A look to the speaking cat, then. "So...is one of us to be murdered, or one of you?"

Autumn Smith 25/25, talking to Alexis She was distracted from her conversation with Vega by the cats becoming decidedly more active, and hoo boy. Murder abounds! Wasn't that just lovely. Autumn was getting real, real sick of this whole death and murder business. Pursing her lips, she kept back a decidedly unfriendly comment, only to be startled by the sound of herself??? Jumping just a bit, she whirled around, and--
"Alexis!" Autumn laughed, just a little bit nervous in her tone. "We have to stop running into each other like this."

Shun Kuroda 25/25 | Being unhappy at the cats Shun just stared at the cats as they detailed the events of the night. Seriously? A hand went up to his head, before he shot a glance towards Jeremiah. Murder was involved, apparently, but he had a feeling this was going to be so much more complex than dealing with normal criminal cases. The fact that the culprit was not working alone made things more difficult as well. "There is just to be one victim?"

jeremiah mercer || 25/25 || just giving shun a look Jeremiah glanced over to Shun and gave a slight incline of his head. This was one of those times where you just went with it and got as much information as possible. The look he gave Shun said that this was something that was not entirely out of place. After all, as he had mentioned before. Here would be where they found their quarry. Perhaps it would not be Adoelle at all. Perhaps it was Adoelle's death they were meant to stop but who knew.
