The HQ is a ship? awww, actually I was hoping for something like the SII's castle. Anyway I don't know if it has been said but how far in the past does it take place?

The map is small according to reviews though crying not like S3's map which spanned a large distance...
The HQ as ship would add a nice flare I would think you know. (Apperently there will sea battles sorta like BattleShip TM)

OK from what I've gathered here is the when it takes place, partially. It takes place some time before the Toran Liberation War because Ted is in it and Ted gives it to Hero Mcdohl before he dies to stop Windy.

During his travels, his Souleater was removed once, but after 10 years of searching, he reclaimed it. During the Scarlet Moon Empire's war with Jowstone, he was wandering in a battlefield when Teo McDohl found him. Thinking that he was a war orphan, Teo brought him home. Ted soon became good friends with Hero McDohl. Ted has never had a friend in his 300 years of wandering, so this gave him great comfort. He hid his Souleater from the McDohl's by wearing gloves at all times. He explained that his hand was badly burned due to war to escape suspition. However, even his careful concealment of his rune was not enough. When McDohl was sent to defeat the bandits at Mt. Seifu, he used the Souleater to defeat the Queen Ant. Seeing this, Kanaan informed Windy, and Windy summoned Ted to the Emperor's Place. There he realizes that Windy is the same sorceress who destroyed his village and barely escapes, getting severely injured in the process. He makes it to the McDohl household and asks McDohl to receive the Souleater, and McDohl agrees. He then sets himself up as a decoy while McDohl escapes. After being captured, Windy has taken control of him through the use of the Conquerer Rune. Windy used Ted in this fashion to take Souleater back from McDohl, but Ted's mind was not yet controlled. Ted commanded the souleater to take his soul, and Ted being the true owner of the souleater, the souleater obliged. "
So 4 takes place when Ted regained his Rune from after he lost 10 years ago....

I played this game all day yesturday and through the night! eek Then an hour later i went to work... This game has pulled me in too deep!

I'm just curious, but does anyone else just want to kill Snowe? I'm not too far into the game but I loathe his character like there is no tomorrow.

One thing i've noticed is there's alot more shady characters in this game than the last. "Hired muscle" pirates and thieves and such makes the game more colorfull. Suikoden III had alot of "good" characters that were fighting for a cause not for thier own gain.

Seca I'm just curious, but does anyone else just want to kill Snowe? I'm not too far into the game but I loathe his character like there is no tomorrow. gods... I wanted to backhand Snowe so bad I actually fwapped the TV screen...

I saw the trailer...
Except for Jeanne, the sprites seem... disappointing.... sweatdrop Their costumes look so.... common... The battle motions looks nice but there's elements missing... *sighs*
I'm still after the story though so no problem! xd

you get Ted so late in the game which kinda sux.. but he is a really good character once you get him! and you do get the Soul Eater.. bwahahaha..
