faded chillJeremiah thumbed the corner of Algie's eye before he was leaning to press a kiss there. This particularly misty-eyed, smiling Alg was probably a new favorite. A sight to be treasured, something to never be forgotten. "Ash bloody knows well not to with me," there was a snort, as he pulled back, "but he's always been closer to you than me." Nando and Jeremiah were the two that were thick as thieves when they were together. "... but if you've been researching it, then they both probably know and packed the appropriate attire." Bloody hell. Would they need something to wear? ... and rings. His thumb absently turned the bloodstone ring on his finger. It was enough to have him distracted until he thought back to what Algie said when the hand rested on his cheek. "I imagine I will." He rubbed his cheek against that hand, carefully calculated stubble rubbing against it. "If you don't mind having two ceremonies."

old hunting groundsAlgie got something of a look for that particular shortened version of his name. Mostly because of the reaction it triggered in him. It was lost the moment the wizened bartender slapped a hand down on the bar. Jeremiah was grinning sharply, teeth bared the same as they had been in the polaroid. The silver-haired man had already operated, when he was younger, in looks and actions over words. The smile on the bartender hadn't scared him when he was younger and certainly could not do so now. There was a roll of his eyes, Jeremiah minding his tongue as his arm purposely went around Algie's waist and squeezed. A similar two-fingered salute was thrown up, the cackling and laughter ignored as he pulled Algie towards the door and outside.

old hunting groundsAlg was smirking, pleased at least with the visit even if it cost him a bit. Getting the picture and article may have been worth it. His arm linked with Jeremiah's glancing up at the other to say something when the smell of caustic cigarette smoke drifted past and a figure sitting outside the door for a smoke stirred and unfolded. "Thought that was you-" An oily voice rolled and when both men turned their heads a flash picture was snapped making Alg's eyes ********-" Alg didn't pull away from Jeremiah, instead his arm tightened. "Welcome home boys." The man had an aquiline face, distrustful features, and a rather evil looking pointed goatee. His hair was long on top, close shaved and graying on the sides, and he was tall and thin, spidery almost. But he didn't linger before going into the pub where they came out.

faded chill"Well getting married is foolish remember-" Alg chuckled. No, he would marry Jeremiah as many times as the other wanted. "Do you think Leila is getting some premonition of it and we'll come back to angry were-wife?" Alg finally propped his head up on his hand, elbow on the mattress, "I can handle the paperwork, though we'll have to go together and theirs some wheels need greasing." His brows lifted, "Can you handle rings?" He obviously went straight into planning because he felt better knowing everything was lined up properly. "We don't need them but-" He'd like them.

papa-paparazziThe morning following their pub visit Alg was in the middle of meetings when his phone was pinged repeatedly. He wouldn't have even noticed if they hadn't been forcing attempting to get him on instagram for promotional purposes. A small tabloid paper, nothing of import, but in the digital age things managed to make their rounds and be found by those looking for it. At the top of the blurb was the photo of Alg and Jeremiah, arm and arm, with the classic blank stare of surprise and overly lit with flash. Quote: Reclusive Author Spotted with New Beau? Notoriously private author Algernon Mixlin was spotted exiting a pub last night on the arm of a handsome silver haired companion. The author of the Red Herring Mysteries has always avoided the public eye and has been living and teaching in America for several years. His publishing company responded to inquiries that the author was in England in preparation for his next novel's release early next year. The author himself hasn't been reached for comment on the identity of his companion but the owner of the pub told our source that they were old friends just dropping in for a bite.

old hunting groundsJeremiah's nose twitched at the smell of smoke, something that nearly made him sneeze but he didn't. His grip on Algie tightened the moment he heard a voice, resisting the urge to move and do the stupid protective thing. "Are you-" The detective growled low, his arm slipping to go around Algie. "Bloody ******** hell." He was moving away from the pub, though he glanced over his shoulder to check to make sure they were not being followed. "Do I even want to know?" he asked, because he assumed photographer or a reporter but the man had been entirely slimy.

faded chill"No, I think they would both be supportive but I would want to have something for them to go to." Perhaps he would even talk to Eve about- Jeremiah rolled onto his back, stretching out. His fingers brushed against Algie's arm, head tilting to look at him. His thumb rubbed against the ring on his finger once more, glancing to it and then to the other man. "I think I can manage that," his voice was soft, "as, you're right, we don't need them but I'd like them all the same."

old hunting grounds"His name's Viktor," Alg rumbled, also glancing back to make sure the man wasn't following. He relaxed a bit when he realized he wasn't. "When my first book came out he decided, for some strange reason, I was going to be worth paying attention to." Which meant near-stalking to normal people. "He's the one who dug up the-" The thing, about the kid, the only thing he'd ever done he prefer not make it to the papers (besides magic). Alg waved a hand. "Figures that as soon as my foot hits this soil he appears. We'll be in a rag by tomorrow or the next day I bet." Alg frowned and glanced up at Jeremiah, "Sorry, love. I didn't even think of it."

faded chillAlg's free hand settled on Jeremiah's chest, idly brushing through his chest hair as he watched him. He trusted the other man to pick out appropriate rings, to be practical and tasteful and know the style that fit them both. Already he was scheduling himself, paperwork and meetings and them getting to the register. Meredith's help possibly needed for the wheel greasing on time... It was clear Alg was in thought, but for once not about anything dire or depressing. He chuckled as his mind pulled around towards the obvious conclusion. His green eyes glittered a bit with a musement, "Doesn't the spouse always take the Mercer name? I've already got the ring."

faded chillJeremiah already have a style in mind for what he wanted to get as a ring, never mind a particular jeweler as well. His mind was spiraling along planning when Algie spoke. It took him a moment, blue-green eyes blinking a few times as the words settled. His hand came up and covered Algie's. "Traditionally, yes." His throat was inexplicably tight. Talking about getting married he could handle but the idea of Algie actually taking the Mercer name?. That got him.

old hunting groundsJeremiah was displeased more to hear that Algie had a stalker than that it was going to be in the papers tomorrow. "It's fine," he said with a shake of his head. His arm went around Algie, tugging him closer and pushing a kiss to his temple. "... though if he does pop back up, I'm not making any promises that I won't do something. It's one thing to take photos, it's another thing to be that level of slime."

old hunting grounds"He's invented his own level of slime," Alg huffed and leaned into Jeremiah. All this time he'd never really retaliated against Viktor, writing it off as not worth it for whatever reasons he told himself. Perhaps the complacency had only stirred the scumbag on but it seemed like his interest in Alg's life hadn't waned. "Doesn't matter," Alg gave Jeremiah a smile, "It's not like he's breaking huge news." None of this, of them, was a secret and he was hardly ashamed of it.

faded chillAlg canted his head to the side with a smirk, "It'll probably be a b***h of paperwork.. and I'll have to keep my pen name," he lifted their hands so he could kiss Jeremiah's, "But I think Algie Mercer sounds alright." His brows lifted, smile again tugging at this lips, "How's it sound to you?"

faded chillJeremiah was not tearing up but he rubbed at his eyes with his free hand. "It sounds perfect, precious." He leaned to kiss the other man, foreheads resting together. There were no words, really, because he had not even thought about Algie taking his name. If anything, he had thought of holding true to his promise of taking the Mixlin name but now- Now he was inexplicably and stupidly happy. "You," the words are brushed into Algie's cheek, "are a gift and I love you."

old hunting groundsJeremiah held back the growl he wanted to let out, mostly because if Algie was not letting himself be bothered then he would not either. "No, he's not," he agreed, "and it's not as if I give any ********," to steal a phrase that was common now, "about what some tabloid has to say about you and I." They were together, that was all that mattered.
