Mal couldn't not grin at him for that. "I'm hoping devoutly it's the married one that's a lie, Gretta." He settled his arms on his knees again.
"My three were that I had a Criminal Justice degree, that my brother and I are estranged, and that I caught my ex sleeping with my partner." It's still funny to him; most people would find it humiliating, Mal just found it funny. A good story to share around the fire.

Mathilda face lit up with joy.
"Pie? Pie! Pie is like, favorite thing to make! It's a delicate process and makes for one warm smelling and feeling kitchen. Well that and cupcakes of course. Oh! I made the most adorable pie decorated cupcakes the other month. Flew right off the shelves! And don't worry about the recipe! No one can beat a mothers cooking. Maybe I'll get some fruit from the Dionysus Chosen....there are so many things that can be done with fruit! If anyone has any suggestions, hit me up!"

Once again, beers were pulled from the cooler and passed. Isaiah smirked at the woman who had introduced herself as the Technicolor Butterfly, holding the beer just a moment longer than he had to when her fingers wrapped around its icy neck.
When her eyes came into contact with his, he winked. "Enjoy."
Then, he turned back to Mathilda. Her face had lit up and she was speaking animatedly about pie cupcakes.
"Where's your bakery at?" He asked, just before he finished the remaining golden liquid that had once filled his bottle. He dropped it into the cooler. The empty glass made a clink sound as it collided with the remaining ice. He replaced the beer with another one, popping the cap off easily. "My mom only baked when she needed a break from me and my brothers." He grinned. "I think it was how she dealt with stress. She'd just stand up suddenly, announce that no one was allowed in the kitchen, and bake." He chuckled at the very memory, he could still picture it clearly.
The surfer heard something about someone catching a cheating ex, and he turned towards the man and woman next to him in the circle. "Here," he said to them as he brandished two beers. "Sounds like you both could do with a beer, too." He grinned. "I'm Isaiah, nice to meet you." He thought he remembered the woman having introduced herself as Gretta, earlier on in the evening. He smiled at them both.

Rob grinned as Sid squeezed his waist. It was amazing to him how much she'd changed -- last picture he'd seen of her was a decade ago, after all, when they were both just barely teens -- yet how easily they fell back together. He hoped it wasn't a fluke; he had really missed his childhood friend, more than he imagined or even knew. And he was delighted that, if nothing else this place and this weird situation had done, he'd been given her back.
"Yeah, that'd be great," he agreed. "I definitely want to hear all about you, Sid, and I can catch you up on my life. I'll have to show you my place too -- the Dionysus dorms are swank." Catching her low remark, just for him, he snorted a soft laugh in response. "Oh bloody hell, that must have been fun. And by fun I mean not so much."
He watched Isaiah hand her a couple bottles of beer, and caught the wink and smirk that the surfer Jesus dude gave her. This made him smirk too. Yeah, Sid had grown up cute; he didn't blame the bloke in the least. "Cheers, thanks," he nodded at Isaiah as he took one of the bottles. This guy was okay, even though his taste in beer was horrendous. Rob would have to educate him. He wasn't a big fan of Mexican beers, given a choice amongst them he preferred Pacifico or Dos Equis dark. But he resisted pulling a stink face -- free beer, after all -- and looked around for the lime slices Isaiah had had before. That was the only way Corona tasted halfway decent.
"Oh right," the British punk muttered to himself -- Isaiah had given the limes to the assassin chick, Mathilda, the one whose lie he'd guessed. Turning his attention to her, he gave her his most winning smile. "Excuse me, love, may I have one of your limes?"

Mathilda smiled.
"Nothing like a mother's baking. My father does the baking in my family. He constantly sends me photos of him baking and what he makes. He tends to forget the time differences between us."
Lost in memory for a moment, she hummed, acknowledging Isaiah's question.
"My bakery is located in San Francisco. I wanted to open in either Boston or New York, but I ended up in San Francisco."
Grinning, Mathilda turned to Rob.
"Sure, dear. All yours."
Plucking the bag back from Isaiah, who was passing beers around, she tossed it over to him.

Jan was late to the party - or well, it wasn't exactly a party, more a little gathering to unwind from the various orientations and settling in at the Prytaneum itself. There was no hesitation in the way he joined the group, sitting down on a few unclaimed cushions with all the airs of a roman emperor.
Taking part in the game he spoke up with his truths and untruths.
"I am not American" "I have three children." "I have a horse named Maja"
He shrugged his shoulders and leaned back. It was odd telling any truths at all.
A blush immediately lit up Gretta's cheeks - it was obvious she took Mal's remark as some sort of light flirting whether he meant it that particular way or not.
At Isaiah's intervention, Gretta pushed her glasses up her nose and cleared her throat as she took the drink from him.
"Thanks!"
She'd never been one for drinking, but the merriment and general camaraderie of the group around her made her want to at least give it a shot. Gretta twisted the lid off and took a hearty gulp.
Yuck.
Her expression said as much as she sat the bottle down on the ground before she turned back to Mal.
"You'd be guessing right," she began, the red of her cheeks evening out to a warm pink, "and I'm going to guess that... well, I'm hoping that your partner would have never slept with your ex, so I'm going with that and I'm stickin' to it."

"No problem, man." Isaiah smiled at Rob too. Though it seemed there had been quite a bit of time separating them, he and Sidney seemed to have made an easy time of catching up quickly. The beer, he figured, was sure to help as well.
Mathilda snatched the lime baggie back from him just as he had pulled out his own and crushed it down the neck of his freshly acquired Corona. "San Fran has some pretty choice beaches." He said, with a tilt of his beer in the Ares woman's direction. "And some very attractive ladies." This was followed by a wink. The more the beer settled in, the more flirty he would become.
He took another swig and watched Gretta throw a face and set down her beer, a bemused smile curling the corners of his mouth. He was about to say something to her when another Chosen approached. Without introduction, they said their "truths" plainly. Isaiah narrowed his eyes at the man.
"I doubt you have three children... no offense, but, I think a family man would've introduced himself first." He smiled, friendly despite his accusation. "I'm Isaiah, of Poseidon. It's nice to meet you, dude."

Mathilda winked back.
"So I've heard. Maybe I should consider branching out to the beaches for my next store. Know any good hang outs?"
Leaning closer, she lowered her voice just a bit.
"That you talking, or the alcohol, surfer boy?"
Smirking, and waiting for his response, Mathilda spoke louder.
"Mathilda, of Ares, for all the newcomers."

"Ahhhhhh..." Isaiah shrugged. "I spent most of my time in the water. I wasn't anywhere near civilization, and that's probably where you'd wanna open a bakery." He grinned at her.
"As for whether it's me or the alcohol... I'd say a bit of both." He chuckled. "Not gonna lie, I had a few drinks on the trip here too. I'm not the biggest fan of planes, and Hawaii to Michigan is a pretty lengthy amount of time traveled. But, don't worry, I'm as charming sober as I am drunk." He smirked.
Mishael had clearly decided to take advantage of the good-natured confusion that reigned as more people joined and paused in her completely unashamed crawl across the pillows towards the cooler to make her own answer. Being a grown woman caught crawling across pillows among a group of strangers clearly did not bother her in the least. "I don't have a brother," she answered with a brilliant smile over her shoulder at Ed.
"Randomly, by the by, I also set the record donation mark in college, too, in case you were curious. Buuut..." The drawl played teasingly over the single word as she completed the last two feet on her hands and knees. Laughing, she raised herself upwards and back to sit on her heels. She crossed her arms over the edge of the cooler in front of Isaiah and fluttered dark lashes at him. "If I can beg a couple of beers from this kind gentleman, I will reward you generously for trying. Unless Ewan is open for coercion into fishnets because that might trump things."

The smile she wore never left her lips as she spoke again.
"Oh? You seem to really love the water. We should find a spot for you to surf. I could pop on a snack shop. Or maybe just a picnic basket until I get more settled. And Hawaii...fancy."
Resting her chin on her hands, she spoke low again.
"Can't wait to interact with you when you're sober. You're pretty charming right now."

Isaiah laughed, a happy drunk laugh. "Sure, babe." He said. "I'd never say no to a picnic on the beach." He settled himself back into the luxuriously soft pillows the rest of the Chosen lounged in. He looked up at the evening sky, content.
When his moment of peace was broken, he didn't look at all annoyed. Instead, he smiled. "A dame such as yourself can take as many as she chooses to carry." He nudged the cooler in the direction of the woman who had come at him on all fours. "Though, to be honest, we are running a bit low..."

Oh no. It had definitely been flirting. Mal took the beer and saluted Isaiah. "Thanks, man. Appreciate it." He popped the top and sipped, but he didn't really care about it.
Beer was fine, but this was more fun.
"Unfortunately, Gretta, that is a truth. A funny truth. I'm still not sure what was going through either of their heads." He made a short gesture with the bottle of beer, almost gentle. "My partner's car was in the shop, they knew I was coming as a ride to the precinct."
He shrugged, as if to say there were some things that were better off not being thought about. "Tell me about your bed and breakfast. That must be amazing."
Sid reached for the offered beer and found Isaiah’s fingers kept hold of it for a beat, drawing her eyes up in time to catch him winking at her.
The DJ’s grin spread wide across her face as she acknowledged the flirtation with a self-satisfied look to her, pulling back to settle with Rob again. Isaiah had more than enough to entertain himself with at the moment as people started to gravitate towards the free beer. The blonde took that moment to call out for some limes and she watched as they got passed around. When they came within reach, she leaned in to snag one as Rob got his.
The rest of the group seemed active and she was content to let the spotlight pass to other people as she squeezed the lime into her beer and then stuffed the wedge down the neck till it dropped inside. For Sid, at least, the beer was not the problem. It could have been the cheapest s**t imaginable, and she would have drank it happily for the alcohol content. The real problem was now that she was drinking, once half the beer was gone, she really wanted a smoke… The two almost always went hand in hand, with her.
Leaning over, she gave Rob a poke in the side with her fingers as her lips neared his ear.
“I’m gonna go smoke. You wanna come, or you wanna stay and play the game some more? No big deal either way.” She murmured.
