That was about the only thing of value that Mataki could find on the corpse of the Hell-loyal demon that he'd slain, and though he had hoped for some semblance of intelligence from it's master, or some other benefit that he could use to increase his personal power, there were none to be found. These demons were beneath him, and yet the path to Inaba was no clearer, meaning that he had some requirement that he was yet to meet. The thought was enough to infuriate others, but for Mataki it merely caused him to pause and sigh, entering a cold and calculating mindset. He had to see through the truth of Okina's riddle, or he would never return home. Perhaps it wasn't that this city was sealed off by Loki...perhaps it was merely separated. Tch, more leftovers. The demons were agents of chaos and change, and prided themselves on such things while boasting about the anarchistic world they would create, yet here now he saw just how little that really meant. The city was all but empty of the truly strong, afraid of the fates that awaited them, and only demons so weak they could hardly flee back to the underworld remained, or so it seemed as Mataki had his Isora wipe the blood of another weakling from the end of it's stinger. Ah, a lesser fiend. It seemed that there was one being amongst the many servants of Louis he'd encountered who had fed upon the weakest demons serving him, and grown to some semblance of actual power. There was a chance that Louis still had wiser or stronger servants after all, and so Mataki was thrown into a bit of a pitched battle with an Ippondatara that had enhanced it's hammer with the souls of a mountain demon that it slew previously, a much deadlier weapon than normal. But almost as soon as it was defeated, Mataki received the real notice that what he had accomplished was a bit of a feat as the joyous ringtone of his phone alerted him to the transferring of more Macca. It seemed that Loki too was pleased, and so he was rewarding Mataki, though again in an insubstantial fashion. Wherever Lewis was now, he was probably amused at Mataki's own bit of annoyance, and though he needed to focus on more important things that was exactly the kind of diversion he could see the trickster making. It sucked to be hunted. But that was the reality of being Loki's go-to option for eventually dealing witht he whole Demi-Fiend thing. But first he had to become the King of Bel, and as long as he hadn't gathered the strength fo the other Bels to fight back against them, he was just going to be a target to the entire Army of Lucifer. That part was something he was starting to get used to, but that didn't mean he wouldn't have to make sacrifices in order to stay alive. An ambush nearly cornered him in the Okina Station, and while he had his demon provide cover he bailed, dropping a few tokens from his pouch along the way. Some fights weren't worth having, even if you knew you could win. Those might not have been threatening demons, but they could have worn him down a little for the real fights to come. That wasn't worth it to him.

 Youmu KonpakuYoumu paced around the area of Troitown, her blade at her side as she was re=positioning some supplies, looking up to see a Mezuki snarling at..something behind an alley.
She quietly moved over to the horse-like demon, and drew her blade....Hoisting it to the monster's neck.
"Beat it." she called, hearing the beast's panicked whimpering. She could see the fear in it's eyes...As it scampered away to safety, and she went to go back to what she was doing.
Or, that was the idea, but another demon floated over to her, circling her eagerly.
"Ah..? You want to join me? ...Sure, why not?"

It was a mild sort of Chaos...but one that was strangely enjoyable. Working in a place with his friends...
It wasn't so bad. Even if he did feel a bit embarrassed at how the Lilims kept chatting amoungst themselves, and stealing glances his way.  Ellie TroitEllie had been pacing the backroom with Metatron and the others, looking up as she noticed a Pixie stumbling into the backroom.
"Ah...Hey, are you okay?" she called, moving towards the small feathered friend..as she lightly fwumped onto the countertop.
[b}"Earthys! Frost! Get this pixie a special, stat! She's faint from hunger!" She'd seen it a few times...A demon wandering in for a meal....And collapsing at her doorstep. The girl would worry about any payment or such later, watching as her own pixie helped it into a booth, and gave it some food.
Soon enough, she'd recover..and they could talk to her like everyone else. Troitown had really taken off...
'And I have my friends to thank for that.' Ellie thought with a smile, looking up at the giant mechanical angel...wearing an apron they found.

A flock of flying demons was hovering over one of the stores near the train station strip, and it had caught Mataki's attention. The peace was beginning to fade again it seemed, and now the flock of human-eating beasts was surrounding some survivor, be they human or manikan, seeking some prey that would be unable to fight back. "Don't worry, I'll handle this." Mataki warned to the people inside the store, throwing out his Isora. It was time for a big battle once again.

Jorm was apparently at the train station, despite it being shut down by the blackouts and the damage from all the monsters that were roaming the streets. His reason though, just happened to be something that peeved Mataki off; he was finding a quiet place to smoke, and the place he'd found was an abandoned tunnel next to where one boarded the train, which had a clear No Smoking sign on it. Despite the fact that Jorm didn't want to hear it, he was soon barraged with a stern lecture about morals and following the rules, and it was even enough to make Jorm pause in the middle of his rebuttal rant when he nearly resorted to trying to "f**king eat you, you piece of sh*t" to Mataki. Jorm was incredibly powerful, and he certainly had might that Mataki and Loki were both relying on for it's sheer immensity, but he was also a delinquent and someone who took more than a little satisfaction from beating down the people who pissed him off. To Mataki, that kind of behavior was unacceptable, and were he a student of Yasogami he would have done more about it. But as it was, with Jorm both an ally and someone in whom he could place his trust in this world...he would overlook it, for now. Crap, a member of Hell was ambushing Mataki! He knew that he could beat it in a direct fight, but using his Kikuri-Hime alone it would be a troublesome affair, so it was better if he retreated for now. Using his demons wisely was a part of the practice that he was instilling in himself, because one who commanded could not view the lives of his allies as disposable on any level. If this Kikuri-Hime were a human, then telling it to die against this monster would not do...he wouldn't stoop to such foul methods, and he would be fanatical in doing good as he rewrote this world to his liking. A world of peace and tranquility awaited, but if he had to give up their lives to get there, then it would all be for nothing...so he would retreat for now, and this demon would die when it's time came again. A difficult battle against a horde of demons? Not if Mataki had anything to say about it. The train station was still rank with the smell of smoke from Jormungandr's awful cigarettes, but that didn't stop Matai from focusing on the task at hand as he summoned Kikuri-Hime to deal with the growing number of beasties who were gnashing their teeth and lunging out at him. The station was a good refugee for some, although the demons continuing to linger around it was a bothersome threat in it's own right. But beneath the concrete and immense barriers many people could survive from this depressing and oppressing atmosphere, and for that reason, Mataki would make sure to leave it as demon-free as he could, while he was still in Okina. A horde of demons came to battle Mataki, but he continued to push them back with the same force that he'd shown in the train station. The demons in Okina were likely not as fierce as those at the heart of the conflict, and Mataki intended to be at the center when the battle came to it's head, so there was no point in moving forward if he was still struggling here. Of course, calling this struggling wouldn't have been totally accurate, as the demons were tossed here and there by Kikuri-Hime's spells, and though it was a time consuming process to kill them, they were hardly reaching their intended target, Mataki himself. Okay, so apparently Mataki was using the powers of a special demon now in order to complete a specific task. He couldn't say that it was something utterly unfamiliar to him, but at the same time the thought that a demon was trying to possess him, another demon, showed just how naive it was. Killing it would have been easy, but by dominating it's power and turning it to his cause he was going to be furthering the path to Order, one which Loki likely knew that he was pursuing, but had no idea when he would reach the conclusion to. Loki expected him to slay the final Bels before he attempted to defeat the Trickster, but that would mean doing nothing while this war, this battle to make Loki king of the cosmos, played out around him without lifting a finger. Your new Prince of Bel, Mataki Hito
Mataki and Jorm, hanging out and having a heart to heart. It was the kind of thing that sounded impossible when you heard it, but the two were now having lunch while looking out on a ruined landscape that barely reminded one of the Okina of old. Jorm didn't like the terrible things that had happened to this world any more than Mataki, though he was more use to it after spending so long in the land he came from. He and Lewis were easy to begrudge, but one had to remember that their world was one of intense fire, and bone chilling ice...they were creatures that survived in environments alien to humans, and yet now that they were here, they did not immediately give in to the urge to carve up the lands and make them their own in the way that other demons had. That didn't make them good, but it also showed the humanity in them, however small it was, and their struggling with it. Plus, Jorm was the least convinced of their plan, of the necessity for this war, and whereas he might have abandoned Lewis long ago rather than stick with him when all of this started happening, Mataki was a bit better at reaching Jorm. Maybe it was the fact that he was a teenager, and Jorm acted like one...maybe it was the fact that they both wanted a world where people could smoke, study, and find their individuality as they saw fit...it certainly wasn't their personalities, which were near opposites, with Mataki appreciating the order and stability that Jorm couldn't stand. Even so, the two were focused on one goal, one aim that the two were sharing...and with that in mind, each took in the bitter horizon, and finished their meals, preparing to return to their ferocious, world splitting battle once again.
