Captain Amethyst
The water was a trap obviously. The wall with the crevices would slow one down way more so most would choose to cross via the water. Amethyst would happily eat his words and boots if it turned out in the end that there wasn't a creature lurking in its depths.
Still, despite already knowing all that, he decided to try his luck with the water anyway. If all of them went fast enough, perhaps that would dissuade whatever lived in the water from coming after them.

Lt. Prasiolite
She was getting hit by rocks and the like, stumbling along and honestly there were worst things, but the bucket of bright paint splatter over her hair, shoulder, down her back and slowly down her fronts. She stopped cold in her tracks growling fist balls. She was less than pleased and almost punch a pillar before continuing through it, picking up her pace.
She could see the others ahead of her jumping and the sight of the water didn't deter her. In fact the pulsing chaos she could feel energized her and the water promise that maybe some of this paint would be washed from her. She didn't even slow down, straight from a run she dove into the water going under and coming back up before making her way across was best should could freestyle.
She thought briefly that this was something that would make for good training, but that may have vendictive thinking because she was being subjected to it.

Grendel
Close he thought distractedly, unable to help a shudder at the steady pulses of Chaos as they continued to race through the labyrinth. Apatite's crude graffiti made him sneer, his tail lashing with distaste. He had no idea what other traps the General-Queen had planned, but he wasn't looking forward to it.
An instant later, the Guardian Cat suppressed the urge to hiss with disgust. Water, dark and murky with something ominously causing it to ripple.
He glanced almost desperately at the wall, but his small paws weren't made for rock climbing. Shifting now would take far too much energy--energy that he might need later. Hating everything about this moment, Grendel took the plunge.
The water felt like ice, and he gasped miserably as his head broke the surface, awkwardly paddling as quickly as he could...

General Ascendant Alkaid
Despite the fact that she had suffered a few blows from tumbling rocks and sported a new, sticky substance across half of her body, Alkaid seemed little worse for wear. The sticky goo that Apatite had left behind (really, what was this?) had sunk into the cracks in her flesh, but where it did not cover there were small wisps of crackling black smoke from her injuries, signaling that her body was in the process of repairing the precarious plates that had been damaged in the rock slide.
She couldn't keep going so hard and reckless - but the energy around her, around them, was making it hard not to keep pushing.
Her bright eyes flickered to the wall where the gaps lingered but immediately, she dismissed that option. She was not a physically stable enough being to think that it was the best option. Without another moment of hesitation, her hands slid up and undid the clasps that held her cape fastened to her uniform. It tumbled to the ground in a pool of shimmering fabric and she moved forward, submerging herself in the dark waters.
She wasn't fool enough to think it was harmless, but maybe if she just swam quickly enough..

Super Dia
Neither option looked rather appealing - the rather crumbling-looking wall promised a cracked stiletto heel or a broken nail. The water promised a struggle, Dia wrinkling her nose at disgust towards either option.
Ah, well.
It seemed that the majority were headed towards the water, so the candy senshi followed suit. Maybe if there was a monster lurking in the depths, it would yoink one of her fellow Negas and not her pretty pink self.
The water was cold when she hit the surface, a tiny squeal bubbling out as her head broke the surface of the murky pool. She hadn't figured in the pounds of hair attached to her - the water was quick to absorb into her cotton candy locks and anchor the sailor scout down, slowing her pace.

Captain QuartzQuartz had been shot by poison darts, rocks had fallen on him, and then.... a giant vat of neon green paint had been dumped on him from the sky. By the time he wiped the paint from his burning eyes, stumbled forward, and saw Apatite's spray painted face, he was thoroughly flummoxed. He pressed his paint-covered hand against the handprint she'd left before and took a moment to catch his breath and get his bearings. Only then did he press on, watching the distant ripples of people ahead of him who'd braved the water. Covered in bright paint as he was, it seemed the only option -- paint kept getting in his eyes, blinding him from moment to moment. All-One once again kept its distance, flying overhead as Quartz, miserable, waded into the water. Noctua looked from the wall to the water and then back at the wall. She was weighing her possibilities. Risks and benefits, that was what this was all about now. She'd shamed Cinnabar enough with her failures, she would not shame her further by dying in this maze today. She leaned heavily on the wall, trying to breathe through the mind-crushing pain that rocked her whole body. She tried in vain to push it to the back of her mind, ironically harder now that the poison from the darts was no longer clouding her mind. It wouldn't have been an easy decision in the clearest of minds. Did she brave the wall with nothing to cling to but the rocks, or did she gamble with the murky water which was no doubt inhabited by something.
Water was as close to the devil that she knew as possible. Noctua took a lungful of air and tried to remember the swimming lessons from her childhood.

Captain Tourmaline They had caught up with one another briefly to eye the challenge ahead. Jumping into the water seemed like a terrible idea, but... Could any of them afford to be slowed down by the rock wall? What if the wall itself was trapped and they just wound up in the water anyways? "Water it is." She sighed, shoulders falling as she paused to pull Lace out of her pocket. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you, but I'm about to do something really stupid and I don't want to risk anything happening to you. Dia would never forgive me." She carefully sat the kitten down before shrugging off her coat and leaving it behind for the tiny Mauvian as well. Captain Tourmaline rolled her shoulders, hating that she was leaving part of her 'armor' behind, but not willing to risk the heavy, leather coat dragging her down. "Right behind you, Grendel! Watch out, Dia!" Her warnings were given right before she jumped. " Cannonball!" 30 + 3 = 33

General Serandite If she braved the walls, she was almost sure she'd fall into the water anyways. Falling in would pull her down deeper to the ominous rippling, than swimming in it. Looking skyward, she couldn't help but mentally die a little bit inside, predicting how heavy her kimono would get with this questionable water. She felt like something might have caught on her leg for a moment, but fear of dark water (hey generals could still feel fear,) made her speed up.
She came up with a sputter, spitting out water as she neared the end. She couldn't help but wring her clothes and hair like a wet cloth, spending ample amounts of time avoiding pneumonia.

The choice not to use the wall holds seemed to benefit everyone well; for the most part, they soared through the water. Occasionally they might have felt something brush against their leg; Schorl might have felt something brush along her pressure with enough force to slightly dislodge her course, but it was Quartz and Noctua who became most familiar with the creatures in the water. At first, it was only just annoying pressure, like things kept smacking into them. There was a sharp pressure, like being bitten. Thankfully, the paint covered Quartz was far less appetizing, and after only a few nibbles, whatever creature was trying to stop him gave up. Noctua was not so fortunate; no amount of swimming lessons could have prepared her for the biting teeth of the grotesque creatures dumped in the dark water; even as she came out of the water, she had a wriggling eel—wide mouthed and full of teeth—clinging to her. It shrieked once out of the water, but it had scratched and bitten and no doubt left her a little scuffed up. They'd have to hurry to catch up— Amethyst and Alkaid were neck and neck in the lead, trailed closely by Grendel. By now, there was an overwhelming energy that washed over the crowd; it had the strange power to be both extremely compelling and extremely sickening. Their crystals were beeping furiously and their maps were flashing; they had to be on their last obstacle. A few more twists and turns and they reached it: a long hallway, ordinary in appearance. Except for several giant blades that swung in low, sweeping arcs around the room. Oh, and the energy that crackled on the floor. If you moved slowly, you would have had only a bit of difficulty dodging the blades, but if you didn't keep moving the floor seemed primed to give you a harsh jolt. Even now, the ground would sometimes spark into an arc of energy that managed to shoot up at least a few feet. But there, at the end of it all, was a single little box, tucked safely in the wall. Captain Quartz
Shot with darts, hit by rocks, covered with paint, and now chewed on (and apparently found wanting) by eels, Quartz very nearly had no emotion left to summon to the fore for the sight of the swinging pendulum blades ahead of him, or the crackling energy spurts here and there. Still some part of him couldn't resist commenting, and did: "Oh, for ******** sake." None of the rest of the obstacles had done him in so far, but apparently he had to give Metallia and the late Apatite credit -- they certainly were giving it the old college try.
He was tired by the time he got to the blades, and that slowed him a little -- but somehow he managed the last obstacle without particular incident: he wove between blades with care, and he could almost swear he heard a poppling sound preceding each of the energy spurts. He managed to get out of the way without becoming a human lightning rod. By the time he finished the gauntlet, there were certainly an incredible amount of people who were already finished and dusting themselves off . . . but those people didn't matter. Quartz went to stand by Schörl and Ceraskia -- the latter having just had her luck run out on this last dangerous challenge. He waited for orders -- Metallia's, or Schörl's.

Captain Amethyst
Finally. It was heartening to know that the end was in sight.
The incessant beeping of the crystal coupled with the flashing of the map was making it hard for Amethyst to maintain his focus. So much so that it required sheer willpower on his part to ignore all that in favour of making his way carefully across the giant swinging blades and the sparks that seemed to randomly shoot out of the floor every couple of minutes for the next obstacle.
He made it to the other end of the hallway subsequently, looking a little worse for wear from the laceration that he had taken to his forearm when he mistimed one of his moves and barely managed to pull back in the nick of time to avoid sustaining further injury.

Corrupted Ceraskia
Bolstered by the ease with which she'd made it through the water, Ceraskia was in grand spirits as she neared the next trap on the way to their destination. She could feel it, easily now, the closer they came. It was like a buzz against her skin. Alluring and repulsive in one. The dancer kept running.
What is that? Dark eyes widened as she saw the arch of electricity sparking up from the ground, and that seemed tamed compared to the whirl of blades that twirled and circled throughout the narrowing hall they were being funneled into. It was just a little too much to face all at once, and Ceraskia faltered as she reached it.
Her time was off, her pace was too slow, and she found herself narrowly avoiding the awful buzz of a blade before a painful jolt sent her to her knees with a startled yelp. Of course that merely compounded the problem, closing the circuit more so, and she found herself almost paralyzed with the numbing, biting surge of electricity coursing through her petite frame. A different pain snapped her out of it, send her sprinting for the other end of the trap. The brush of a blade against one thin shoulder, slicing into pale skin like it was little more than paper.
