Wow, there are some ... people here.

First of all Dookie was at least as MTV as American Idiot. I'm 26 now (not that that makes me better or anything) and can remember that MTV played Basket Case, Longview and When I come around so often I couldn't stand it anymore. (I think Warning is their best album) So please stop with this "they are so hyped" stuff. The songs you are talking about (mostly) were as hyped as the songs you so much despise because everybody seems to like em (except you). And just because you don't see anyone donating their money does not mean they're not doing it. I think people who donate can be a good example for others, but I don't like people boasting how good they are because they are helping.

Secondly: What about all this "Wars are normal for humans, blablabla". Are you crazy? Can't you at least look at what wars are or were fought for? Man. War for Independence: Okay. It was so that the US didn't want to be under the English crown and it's corporations anymore. Civil War: You learn it was to end slavery, but that is mostly Bullshit. It was a nice side effect, but there even was a law that fugitive slaves had to be returned to the confederation from the North. But okay, it did end slavery.
Let's get to the more recent wars: 1st and 2nd WW. Well, I'm from Germany and we have our messed up history and it was right that the allied forces kicked our asses. I hate Nazis (and one reason why I don't like Rammstein is that they did'nt say for a long time what their political views are - though they have some good songs). But if you look at the Korea War, the Vietnam War, Afghanistan and Iraq the reasons are so shitty that I cannot understand why you all say s**t like "it's normal to wage wars". That is so f***g stupid. Sorry. You live in a democracy and have to watch what your government does. If it just wants to fight for the "free market" in the world (South America) and people have to die for that (people who voted their own government) just so some US corporations can make money of these countries or make an example to others that it does not work this way, it is just wrong. WRONG.

When Colin Powell tried to convince the UN that there were WMD in Iraq he lied to their faces. Just to justify a war (and I don't think any of you know what that means for the people involved (there are civilians in those counries)- me neither. It is senseless killing, humans not behaving as humans (torture in Abu Ghraib anyone?) and so much more. It brings the worst out in anyone-US or "terrorist".)
And why do your forces have to die? To protect the world? To protect the US? Why did Bush start the war? What kinda legislation was passed? Who benefitted from it?

Okay, conspiracies... I know. But I know there is a lot to think about here and I don't think all of you have. And as long as you do not think about the stuff enough and say things like you did there is the need for an album called "American Idiot" because there might still be some...

I like them. =] Before, I hadn't even heard of the god damn band and then I listened to a song on the radio in the car and i was like, "HOLY CRAP THIS IS
GOOD STUFF!" So, from then on I started listening to them. And hell yesh I know basket case. =]
Anyway, people who like them because apparently they're "in", they're just retards who want to be cool. Of course, that doesn't make you cool. =] It makes you a wannabe. ^^
Lmao. Of course, I do like music. It's not like my entire listening to music is always Greenday. I listen to alot of other people. Shakira [Lmffao. Once Again, Not Because Shes Popular], Avril Lavigne [I'm a pretty big fan. xD], and yeah, alot of others. But anyway, Greenday IS a good band. I guess I could say their music kind of moves me [Not in the touchy feely way. In another way I can't really describe. biggrin NO NOT LOVEY DOVEY]. ^^ But I have to admit, those guys are ugleh when they put their crap on. They look like girls. However they sing really well. =D I do indeed like the earlier Greenday a little more, but what they do now isn't exactly like "BOO YOU SUCK." It's alright, and I'll listen. =] And.

i liked all their music before american idiot. that album ******** sucked. it was just like an hour of their own propaganda. and all these bands do that now, they all gotta have some political album and claim they're not just following the trend, but thats what it is, if mtv didn't say it was cool they wouldn't be doing it.

Honestly i think there just another aesthetic band who sells their looks but i dont blame them... if i had the chance to make millions for looking pretty and catchy lyrics id so go for it.

SERIOUSLY, I'm sorry that your father came back from war and that your cousin is still out there fighting. I'm not an American and Canada has never really been in a war unless helping the US. I don't know what it feels like to have two people who are really close to you out there but I too, know someone out there fighting.
