Camelot

"I think taking it to Olympus, and exposing that place to Chaos, may be too big a risk right off the bat. We do not know the power this thing has, or what it might do to the rest of the code in its current state, as the young Mercury Page here has said." He nodded his head at Baikal, in answer to Verona's suggestion. "But, I think that's a good idea to keep on the table, if the other options we try first have no result, or it becomes clear that we have fewer options than we thought. Maybe only the Code itself can tell us what to do with a piece of... itself?"

He looked thoughtfully, shaking his head and rubbing his chin, and the goatee he routinely trimmed. He considered Kairatos and Slievenamon, hoping Celsus might at least be okay with explaining the process, even if they did not try it right away.

He looked at Hy-Brasil as she burst forward, remembering her from their first encounter, but not having seen this kind of a temper from her before. If he had asked Merlinite, of course, the half dragon could have warned him about her fiery personality, but it had not occurred to him.

Lifting his hands, he did his best to try to calm her.

"It's alright, please. We can discuss as much as we need to, before we make a decision. The majority need to be able to agree on a course of action before we even try it, whether it will work or not. I think destroying the thing is the very last option we'll want to turn to. Nothing touched by Chaos is lost forever, and this was once a part of us. There must be some way to get it back."

Celliwig, Page of Earth

The ginger page was pleased to see Camelot because she knew him. He was a wise, older knight who had seen some things and seemed very willing to share what he knew with others, herself included.

What Celliwig didn't understand was how, somehow, things had gotten heated so suddenly. Camelot had spoken, offering to give a go at what others had suggested he do (make a check against purifying the Code so that it stopped spouting gibberish) and another knight (more ginger knights, ftw), Celsus, had softly spoken back...

Now a third ginger (Hy-Brasil) seemed like she was getting stompy and, if Celliwig was being honest (which she generally tried to be) she was so tired of things exploding into tantrums for one reason or another and she really hoped that this wasn't where things were going. "Maker's breath, no one is going to get anywhere by letting tempers flare. If we'd been brought here to butt heads someone would have set up an arena and there'd be a place to take bets. There isn't... Can't we just-- Get along? Maybe?"

Wasn't it bad enough that senshi were fighting each other? Shouldn't they be better than that? As a representative of Earth, wasn't that the honorable thing to do?

"Obviously that thing has been spouting nonsense for a bit now, or having passing around bad juju. I agree that taking it to Olympus.." Holy crap, Olympus really existed? Was there a Knight of it? How did that even work??? "... Probably isn't the best idea, given the chaos. And g-getting fussy isn't going to help, especially n-not when people are talking quietly and smiling."

Slievenamon, Squire of Neptune

"Ah—"

The Neptune squire was suddenly spooked by Hy-Brasil's outburst; having been so lost in thought considering the other dilemmas at hand. She hadn't expected such expression when they were simply discussing things. Gently, she laid a hand on Hy-Brasil's shoulder and gave it a squeeze with hopes it would calm her down.

"Even... E-even if brought forward in a harsh intonation, she does raise some good points," Slievenamon said, trying to coax any harsh reactions that might have come from her outburst to understanding. "Hy-Brasil, like all of us, has a reason for concern, even if in anger. It's still a justified reaction." The squire drew a sigh. She glanced at Celliwig and dipped her head at her in agreement. "I agree. From the sound of it, Olympus is of great importance, so we shouldn't risk Chaos there of all places. I feel it is better here."

Celsus Knight of Chronos

He felt his already tired smile slip a little, some of the little color in Celsus's face ebbing out.

"I wasn't - " he started to say to Hy-Brasil, and then stopped, closing his eyes briefly as he gave a shake of his head, trying to suppress the whispers, the throbbing in his head. When he opened them again, his gaze was steady, if not still wearied beyond his years, a breath taken to calm his heart.

He did not know where the sudden antagonism had come from, but he felt it again, the jeering words of the Code in his mind, the constant hiss of sounds that warred with the Oath he had taken.

"I wasn't saying that I didn't want him to try," said Celsus quietly, finally. "I was merely saying that I don't believe the answer lies in purifying it through a Royal, no matter how simple we want it to be. As I've said before, the Code is not a human being; we don't know its reactions, and we can't base our suggestions around it as though it is. Camelot is a great knight, that is not being dissented here. Most of us are just trying to take steps to make sure that all of us are kept safe and that the choice we make regarding this dilemma are thoroughly thought through. We can't just leap to action without considering all possibilities."

He ran his good hand through his short hair and sighed. "I'm not intending to bring about a fight; we've had enough of those already even among just ourselves in the White Moon, enough for a lifetime."

His gaze flickered back to Kairatos, the ghost of a smile on Celsus's face. The Knight's calm, straightforward demeanor and clean answers - with their hints of dryness - were greatly appreciated, especially now.

"It does require physical contact," he said, "And sort of...pushing the energy in. Though I suppose most of you are right in the reasoning for not taking it back to Olympus, considering how far spread the incidents have been ever since it's been tainted."

"I agree with letting Camelot try first," Hvergelmir said, her eyes falling on Hy-Brasil who'd spoken up in favor of it. She was relieved that Camelot was here -- not just because of the power he wielded, but because he had a mature, calming influence on so many people wherever he went. It always felt comforting, having him to rely on --and it felt like it had been far too long since they'd been in contact.

"It's not about not wanting to rely on someone else's powers," she went on. "It's about exhausting our known options before we start trying things that are farther afield. Nothing we try is without risk -- but we should eliminate the obvious solutions first. I think purification is our best option."

Hy-Brasil, Page of Earth

“Discussion is fine. I am not saying we shouldn’t discuss things, but it does get to a point where you can discuss something to death and not see anything get accomplished. I was just confused why we wouldn’t want to try an option that is standing here right in front of us.”

Venting out of the way, Hy-Brasil’s temper was quick to cool, as usual. She wasn’t one to hold grudges unless in extreme cases and nothing said or done by at the gathering warranted such an extreme outburst. Besides, she’d done a fairly good job keeping her temper in check. Hell, she hadn’t even yelled. Speak sternly? Sure. Not yelled. And, though it might have been a bit on the over dramatic side it seemed to have gotten people back on course and speaking to each other again instead of feeling like a mish mash of a bunch of ideas being tossed around.

”I am sorry I lashed out. I didn’t mean to start any bickering, but it’s terribly frustrating to me to watch so many people, who want the same thing, just dance circles around each other.”

She then looked at Celsus in particular, and tilted her head to the side noting his drawn look. It immediately whisked away the remaining bit of anger still boiling inside of her. As troublesome as she could be at times, she certainly didn’t want to cause people pain. “True. It may be too simple, but isn’t it worth a shot? What is it that we can actually do about this?” She gestured to the code piece that continued to emit a chaotic signature.

“At least we all agree that taking it to this...Olympus, isn’t the best of ideas. That’s one thing decided.” She said with a slightly sheepish smile before glancing at Slieve as she touched her shoulder.

“But, I am with the others that say let Camelot try. We can pool our energy with him as he suggested. If we decide to try it, maybe we should discuss what may or may not happen besides the obvious that nothing happens?”

Camelot

The Royal Knight watched the others as they spoke, though peace seemed to restore itself. They were in a difficult position, dealing with something none of them really understood, and just trying to grasp at straws for answers where there were none really to grab. He smiled at Celliwig, his video game mentor. Hy-Brasil seemed to have calmed, with Slievenamon stepping in to help as well, and the rest of the gathering were still very interested in coming to some kind of decision.

He glanced over at Hvergelmir, hearing her voice for the first time in this conversation and being glad for it. She was always a beacon of peaceful thought and reason, and he nodded his head in her direction both in agreement and in greeting. They didn't hang out enough these days, and he probably had a lot of catching up to do with her.

Celsus did have a fair point, one that Camelot agreed with. Risk was always involved in things like this, and the more they could do to lower that danger, the better. Working together was likely the best way to do just that, and to reach some kind of result. Camelot taking the first step toward that end, and doing everything he could first, seemed to follow that thought process. He had been given this power for a reason, and he was duty bound to use it, if he could, for whatever good he could.

"I don't think we can predict what might happen. The worst that might come of trying purification is that it might be too much for the piece to handle, and it could be destroyed in the effort. That's worst case. But I'm ready to at least make an effort. If you all join hands, or whatever you're comfortable with as far as contact," he smiled, knowing he could be a little awkward on the social front. He looked around at the gathered knights, nodding solemnly, "and be ready to lend me your strength for this, then I'm prepared to try." He lifted his crystal sword, looking at it, and then at the code piece.

Verona (not Camelot wtf quoting)

"Sorry but I've always been a more rash and do the more troublesome thing first." The squire shrugged at the outburst from another earth page, and while she saw the benefits of this...purification.

It still answered none the questions presented.

"If it was messing with the code, don't you think someone had to be messing with it to make it all wonky? I don't know about you, but my code was a a*****e, It wasn't like they were physically harming me." She tilted her head.

"All I wanna know is why it was down in nega's hands, because if the code piece could easily be taken, it means someone gave over their little hiding spot? How do we know the negaverse doesn't have more little nuggets of this one hiding about?"

She wanted information now and the pressing matter was, the only ones who could answer were the ones who were involved with the retrieval. Added to that, Verona was not excited about the knighthood taking anything else from her. Especially energy. If Camelot and the crew wanted to try, that was fine but the squire wanted every little bit of her power to herself should s**t go to hell.

Celsus Knight of Chronos

He felt tired, Celsus lifting his good hand to absently rub at his brow. He cast a sideways glance at his brother, who was looking at him somewhat nervously over his shoulder, then back at Hy-Brasil, Celsus easing out a breath. He had not wanted to fight; the exhaustion of what had happened before, during, and after their excursion through the portal had drained him of any desire to be argumentative.

Except he had to say something that was causing him a little bit of a strain, Celsus's eyes flickering towards Camelot.

"There is," he said, with a slight, wan smile, "a bit of a problem."

He'd tried telling Kairatos, but had been sidetracked by the conversation at large. Celsus drew a breath, still massaging his temple with his free hand.

"As much as I would dearly love to for all to able to supply you with energy, the only people who are capable of doing so are myself and any other Transcendents," he said, casting a glance at the Mars knight before he looked back at the group at large. "There is demonstrably no way for anyone who is not Transcended to give energy to another person, which makes supplying it to others rather difficult."

Celsus gave a tired smile. "Hence why I had rather hoped to find a different solution, considering the situation. I'm not saying that nothing will happen should Camelot try on his own, nor am I discouraging him from doing so; but for the moment at hand, it is something to be considered."

Falias, Knight of Earth

"Wait does that mean that we wouldn't have been able to push positive energy into the Code?" Falias asked as he once again turned to look at the red-haired Knight (Celsus).

There was no heat to his voice, because Falias was puzzled rather than annoyed because he had kind of assumed from the comments so far that the same principle would apply be it person or well... Well the Code, but from what the other Knight was saying it seemed like said assumption had been completely wrong.

Camelot

"I wasn't considering this in the same light as transcendance, just that the principals could be the same. What I'm trying to do is harness your energies with the Royal Crystal of my sword, not through any other means. It's just something we're meant to try, to see if it can work: I've not tried it before, but I have shared my power with others in the past, and I can only hope the transfer works both ways. This magic of ours, of all knights, is connected, and through that connection perhaps we can achieve something more than acting alone. I've seem some incredible things happen through unity."

He tilted his head, hoping that didn't sound as pathetically clueless as he felt. Sometimes, these magical instances were a little too far outside his understanding, and he often felt like he was shooting randomly into the dark. But it was worth a try, whether it worked or no.

They would never really know unless they took the chance on it.

"But if I'm asking more than any of you are willing to try, then I don't mind taking the chance on my own. That I can do."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 30, 2016 3:48 pm

"Cosmos hinted there's more abilities we haven't yet unlocked, and Caedus demonstrated there's at least one way to transfer energy without using Chaos magic or transcendence." Kairatos noted, a bit stubbornly. "But you're right, we don't know how it works right now, I'm just not down with writing it off. You don't want to rely only on Royals, you've gotta see where I'm coming from... So how about this. Camelot can start, he needs help you and anyone else glowing jumps in. After that the rest of us can try and put a hand in, so to speak. Worse comes to worse we're an extensive network of moral support and a lot of people to make sure no one runs out of steam and falls flat on their nose."

That sounded fair anyway.

"The piece was in the Academy because we lost the Academy when the Silver Milenium fell and Metalia came to power. After that best guess is there was no one to retrieve it, and since we've only more or less recently begun to awaken again and rediscovered the code... thats why it was still there. But I saw marks on the crumbling walls and doors. It definitely looked like someone was looking for it. Someone knew about it, but the question is how. Unfortunately the same lack of memories that led to us not knowing about the code puts a big damn damper on knowing if there's any other magics down there this powerful, or if they are, what state they'd be in. But we also don't know if someone told an agent that things like the code exists or if they simply stumbled across a resource down in that pit that told one of them that it might be there. Maybe they even hoped corrupting it would give them access to powers like ours... it's worth keeping an ear out though, maybe we'll learn something more. Someone looking to purify might bring u some information... who knows.

Chris Gallo

Chris Gallo stayed towards the back of the room, trying to draw as little attention as possible. He’d arrived powered, but quickly released the transformation and remained as a civilian in a teeshirt and jeans in the back corner. He held his breath to hide the strain powering up, even for a few moments, had cost him. He wasn’t even sure where he was at first, but looking out the windows of the room he realized they had been drawn to the moon.

There were knights there. Only knights it seemed. They were discussing the Code and what to do with it. Kairatos was there, as was Celsus, Hvergelmir, Camelot, Gevaudan… and countless others. He would try to speak up once he caught his breath, but for now he slumped against the back wall of the room, trying to pick out the voices speaking.

Camelot was offering to try and purify it. A selfish thought of ‘better him than Ganymede’ crossed his mind. Some wanted to join their powers together and offer their energy to Camelot, and Chris glanced awkwardly away, knowing he had nothing he was able to give. It wasn’t like him to feel sorry for himself, but he was running out of options. And time.

“What does the Code want? Has anyone asked? The Code at Olympus, I mean. Not this small piece,” Chris finally asked, looking up from where he leaned against the all in the back. “If Camelot uses too much energy trying to purify it, and something else happens…” he added softly, not really looking at anyone in particular and not expecting anyone to listen to someone who didn’t have enough energy to remain powered up.

“It’s been damaged all this time, yet I don’t remember the Code ever mentioning it was missing a piece. If it’s beyond repair, wouldn’t it be best to have it sent back to the Cauldron or to Olympus?” he wondered out loud, trying to ignore the irony in his questions as they pertained to himself.

“Or maybe even bury it somewhere on Earth. This piece belonged to the Academy on Earth, didn’t it? I think we should ask the Code what it wants us to do, rather than just deciding for it. If it says we should decide, then fine, but there’s a chance it would want us to do something specific.”
PostPosted: Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:48 pm

"Valhala."

Another familiar face, though Kai was beginning to look slightly... pressured trying to answer questions about their exploration of the academy, but as badly as many of the others had been battered, he wasn't surprised.

"Yeah... At least two people have tried. Including him, he even tried bowing." He gestured to polite little Paris, who hadn't gotten so much as a peep from the warped code sphere. "And that's just it... I don't know that it's been 'all this time'. I think... and this is my gut speaking... I think this is recent. Those markings I was talking about... somehow they found out about it and they made a move. I really want to see this thing go back to Earth when we're done. It's From Earth. It's not a trophy for Mars, or anyplace else. But I don't think we can ask the code anything when Olympus was acting strange, My wonder was strange... his wonder was...." He gestured wearily to Celsus. "Once it's cleaned, if it can be, I think then we can ask where it would like to be, because I think it's pretty clear it can't go back where it was. We're not getting that place back, and even if we did, it's a ruin that tried to bury us, even before we caught back up with the rest of you."

Niflhel

Niflhel hadn't been here for the whole thing, he'd just caught the tale end of what seemed to be a few different conversations, including Camelot mentioning he wanted to try to harness their energies. His brows furrowed as it seemed there were debates as to what to do and something about only Transcendence could do energy transfers. It sucked to be late to a party.

The Knight of Saturn was standing there looking around the room and he sighed leaning against the nearest space at a window. When Kairatos mentioned that there were probably more ways of doing things; "We're magical girls and boys. To think there's a limit on how to do things by now is a little silly. We've already proven that magic isn't just some farce slight of hand tricks. We can pretty much go to space whenever we damn well please instead of waiting for a rocket ship to take us. There's been Aliens, monsters under the bed and in the closet; we know what goes bump in the night. Not to mention there's people who can shove their hands into your chest and rip out your soul; not to mention there's a whole new meaning to selling your soul to the devil if you think about it. Who's to say we absolutely can't do anything if we don't try it first to see if it works? Worse case scenario it seems to me, we end up holding hands and sing a rousing round of Kumbaya, Right? If it doesn't work then we try something else."

He shrugged, thinking they next thing they'd learn is the probability that unicorns were actually real. Not that it'd surprise him, there was little left in the ways of things that could surprise the Saturn Knight these days. "Anyways, if you; Camelot, want I'll throw my hat in the ring for at least being willing to try. The amount of chaos coming off the code piece is a little unsettling for me to stand here and watch."

Odainsaker

Odain had followed the summons though she was unsure of what she'd meet or find. When she got to the room though she looked around and frowned. The page of Cosmos wasn't sure what was going on or what they were talking about. She was actually hoping to find someone to talk to, maybe they could help her understand what was going on? All of this talk of energy transfers and the code was all a little over her head.
