Turn 8

Akio's Attack x3: 51 - 30 = 21 (100 - 21 = 79% - 15 = 64% Defence Chance)

The male was going down. While it was the human worker that had done most of the work to bring him down, they all had a part in it, it was sure. Dodging all those attacks surely would slow him down and it did. Even with this sudden new power he had gained. Obviously the male human wasn't listening to his AI, he had changed his tune quick when it came to his partner. Midas if it heard someone call it. But as he could see this battle could go either way. The Guard and Quazzar had been hit and they were on their last strength. But so was it. He couldn't suffer another blow or he would be done as well. The worker was quick and taking the male down even more quickly than it would have thought. Perhaps he could take the other male and female down just as quickly.

The female spoke up, but it was in a language that wasn't English, which was odd. All humans knew English and not many knew other languages. This girl didn't seem like she would know many other languages, but there she was speaking something to the male, who responded right back to her in the same language. It didn't know what they said, but it made the male smile, which was irritating. Whatever she said seemed to give him something, hope maybe. No, that wasn't it. The Trooper quickly dodged the first attack, but that was all it could do. The Trooper stumbled from being knocked away by the changed male toward the male that had been on it since the beginning of the battle. It was that action that ended it.

The Trooper watched as the sword came toward it, unable to block it while trying to keep it's balance. The sword slashed through it's armor, taking away the last of it's life. The Trooper stood there a second, looking at the male before giving a small laugh. “Not so pathetic it seems.” It's body began to disappear into ones and zeros of bright light coding. The code formed into a ball levitating in the air, with what looked like sparks of lightening flashing around it.

Sarah felt her chest clench when she saw the smile on Akio's face. She caused that. She made him smile. She couldn't help but bring a smile on her face as well, especially when he responded back to her in Chinese. She nodded, glancing at Acel. Mind games huh? She wasn't sure if it was a game to him. He seemed unhappy that they spoke in Chinese but just as well. She was disgruntled with him at the moment. Don't take it heart Akio said, no matter what he says. Could she do that? Words mean a lot, no matter where they come from. Could she ignore what Acel said? Sarah watched with a slight disgust when her knives made their mark on the Quazzar, but only to have them tear through it's body. She was expecting them to just graze it, not actually tear it.

Sarah quickly took off her jacket, holding a part of it in each hand as she caught the blood covered knives. She didn't trust them to touch. She may have ruined her jacket, feeling a shiver when cold air of the tunnel brushed against her bare shoulders because of her red tank top, but she wasn't going to risk getting burnt. That thing had been throwing it's spit and using it's blood like weapons. She wasn't going to trust her knives now. She set her jacket and the knives down on the ground, grabbing her scythe. She wanted to keep her distance, but with such a small area, she didn't think using her gun in here would be a good idea. The noise from it may cause more harm than good. Plus she didn't need good swings, she just needed to hit the bug just one more time, she was sure of it.

She glanced around, seeing that it was true for nearly all the cores. The Guard was obviously weak, just one more hit would bring it down. But Acel didn't seem too good, if she were to guess, he wasn't going to last another hit. The Trooper.... The Trooper was gone. Sarah blinked in surprise glancing around to see a ball of lightening and code in the air in front of Akio. She stood shocked for a second before smiling and jumping up, letting out a shriek of excitement, like one she would give her friend Jenny when something good happened to her. “Nǐ zuò dàole! Wǒ zhīdào nǐ néng!” She said before stopping, blushing a bit at her behavior.

She quickly turned around, not daring to look at Akio now. Nice, want to give the prince a hug and a kiss while you're at it Princess? The Guard said, making her blush harder. It's not like that, shut up. I was just happy for him, he was having a hard time. She thought back, hoping that would work just as well as speaking. She didn't want Akio to hear and think something was wrong.

Yea sure, when you start actually telling the truth, let me know. The Guard said. Now get after that bug, you got him, just one last hit and you'll have him. Sarah nodded, gripping her scythe before charging at the Quazzar. She swung the best of her ability sideways toward the Quazzar's side before quickly turning it and bringing it in a downward slash. She took a step back, bring the scythe back up swinging it sideways again, letting it drop down a bit before twisting it and slashing it upwards. She spun the scythe in her hand until it's blunt end was pointed toward the Quazzar and gabbed it forward. Just one hit, that's all she needed.

None of them had even noticed...none of his comrades had batted a lash as his leg has been turned inside out. If someone had been that grievously wounded and he had any relation to them, Acel would have lept to their aid, or called out to them to see if they were okay, or become enraged at their enemies. He would have felt something...but these two...they didn't even care. They didn't wince, they didn't bat a god damn eye lash. "You see, Acel? My foolish, idiot host. Do you not see what they think of you? Nothing. Simply. They do not care if you live or die. Have they suffered at all through this battle? No. Have they cared even a tiny bit that you have been suffering? No. They go on attacking their respective foes and watch as you are swarmed and destroyed. They do not care that your legs are torn asunder, or fear for you while your spine is shattered. I do. I care if you live or you die. That's the difference between me and them. They care nothing for you." The angel spoke within Acel's mind. Midas could not deny the man, for he had seen them not react to his damages as well. Midas could not offer reassurance to the man at all, and it almost broke the thing's heart to be unable to show him light in his darkness. Acel sunk further into the grasps of the angel...or perhaps the angel was just truly who he was, or would become. As the Royal Guard seemed to find its footing, the damn thing rushed him once again, trying to be sure to end him. But Acel would not allow it. The Angel would not allow it. "Come at me with everything you have. And you two..." He spat, his rage entering his face once again. "Better pray they kill me before they are dead." He snarled. If they had no mind to care for their allies, then he had no mind to help them anymore. The nagging voice at the back of his head told him to attack. Told him to move forward. But he would not. The small voice of Acel told him he had to fight and to protect them. But he would not. He would watch these baiters fall.

The Royal Guard aimed for a palm strike on either side of Acel's ribs, and he watched the arms coming toward him as he swung both of his swords up, smashing them off of the guard's arms and sending the strike up over either of his shoulders instead of landing square where they had been aimed. Then, it was the Quazzar, and Midas did a stellar job of maintaining his observation of the entire battlefield, allowing Acel to keep track of his foes as best as possible, even in his exhausted state. It was only his allies that he stopped looking to. Stopped paying attention to. It was his allies that he despised now, instead of enemies. As the Quazzar came overhead, unleashing the glob of acid, Acel dove to the side and avoided it completely. The E-Trooper was dispatched, falling to Akio, and Acel turned his nose up in annoyance, avoiding eye contact with the man. His lame leg had stayed limp and to the side, and with every motion that he had made it screamed with pain, but he refused to allow that to bother him. Instead, he fed off it. He used it for his own strength and his own hatred. He would destroy the heart of this feeble man, and take full control. Acel would lose himself in despair and he would never resurface. But, even as he was thinking about these glorious things, the Worker was coming for him, and he knew he could not allow himself to be hit once again by that ba--holy s**t he was too fast!

The man's fist was already beside his head, and Acel knew he would be unable to lift his arm fast enough to block the strike. However, the second strike...he couldn't know for sure, but he had a terribly feeling that the man was trying to end it. And attacking the head from the side knowing you can hit somewhere else at the exact same time...well, the other side just made sense. He threw his arms up to the opposite side and the man's fist crashed across Acel's face, the second hand instead hitting against the arms that he had thrown up on the other side. But the initial blow snapped Acel's head to the side violently and he rolled across the ground a few times before he stood up. Blood was pouring from his broken nose, as well as from his mouth. He spat, a few pieces of broken teeth clattering across the steel grates before disappearing to god knew where. He could barely stand. His face was destroyed--half of it was peeled back where there was no skin, steaming--and his leg and spine were damaged to the point where he was just held together. He looked from Sarah to Akio and he narrowed his eyes. Did they think there was no information on their language available on the internet? Did they think that he would not decipher it? "Xīnlǐ yóuxì? Wǒ méiyǒu shíjiān yóuxì. Yào zhīdào, kěbēi de shì, Acel zhēn de xìnrèn nǐ de jiāhuo." He shook a little, and it seemed as though he would fall, though he caught himself. But when he looked back up the flames in his eyes had died, and tears were slipping down his cheeks, though they evaporated as they trailed down. His grey eyes were staring at them both. "Wǒ xiāngxìn, nǐ zhēn de zàiyì. Dànshì, nǐ yǐjīng zhèngmíng nǐ de yánsè. Xiǎngshòu nǐ de xiǎo jiāomèi xìxuè. Zhè sìhū shì nǐ de méngyǒu de tòngkǔ shì shénme, ér tā kěyǐ bǎohù nǐ de shēnghuó lǎnsǎn dì bùjì lìxí guānkàn. Wǒ bù huì dānxīn nǐ zàicì, zài cǐ zhīhòu." The tears he shed were of undeniable emotional agony, and he was truly captured within the depths of despair. The eyes slowly cracked apart--the grey splintering into red once again as the fires reignited and he looked at the Royal Guard and the Worker. He would kill these A.I. only for the opportunity to kill these other bastards. They would have no issue stabbing him through the fake heart and ending his life anyways, Acel was sure. They didn't care anyways, why would they start now? And if they suddenly started caring after he had said something, he would know it was just false. These baiters didn't care about him. That was obvious, and if they tried to spin it any other way, he was sure they would realize they had to be lying to themselves, as they knew they had not even bothered to care while he sat there, his body destroyed. What friends they were. He snarled as he forced his body to move. He was at deaths door, but the Angel drove him onward. He charged the Royal Guard once again--this time running on both legs, and feeling the bone, as he took his last step as it crushed through his skin once again and he bit his lip so hard he felt the soft flesh part as the blood that had already flooded his mouth and mixed with broken teeth was reluctantly swallowed. He tumbled forward from the leg giving out and he used the momentum to roll forward, and using his good leg he sprung out of the roll and attempted to upwards slash the Royal Guard with the first strike and then immediately balanced himself from the upwards hop and he spun around, attempting to hit the Royal Guard directly where it had been opened up, and if he managed, he was sure it would cut the damn thing clear in half this time.

                                        Turn 8

Akio couldn’t help but grin. When Acel who wasn’t Acel pushed the Trooper to the side, towards Akio, the downward slash did more than enough damage to kill the thing. The Trooper paused for a moment, looking up at the Asian male with surprise. Granted, it was fairly difficult to read any sort of expression on the robotic face, but there was something about it in which he was just able to … tell, he supposed. But then the thing laughed, letting out a small sound that indicated that it was impressed. Of course the damned thing was impressed. He just won against an enemy for the first time. He ACTUALLY killed it! To reiterate, Akio couldn’t help but grin.

When the body of the E-Trooper dissolved into code, Akio simply watched it in a moment. It was a ball of lightning floating in the air, bobbing up and down ever so slightly. Suddenly fear washed over him, but he didn’t think it was his. His heart beat faster as he thought about what was happening. A small voice in the back of his head rang, and he realized what that fear was, where it was coming from. ‘I don’t want to die….’ He could feel his body shaking, and he was surprised to find that he felt for the AI that he had received during his test. But it was an AI. A tool given to the Baiters in order to make them stronger than average, strong in order to protect their people. “It’s better than spending life in a test tube…” Akio whispered, approaching the floating ball of sparks, able to feel the energy radiating out from it. He took a deep breath, lifting his hand to take it, so he could have that AI, one that has been out and knows more.

Akio was excited, a laugh escaping him as the tips of his fingers finally making contact with the ball. For a moment, his head was completely clear. There was no speaking or mumbling inside his head, just silence. A singular moment of pure and unadulterated silence. Akio relished this small collection of seconds before his mind was bombarded with another’s consciousness. The E-Troopers consciousness. He worried for a moment about the Crushtacean he had just eradicated out of existence, but all that fear and worry flushed out of his mind when he felt the surge of electricity through his body. Akio felt powerful and charged up, ready to finish out the rest of the battle. With an elated grin on his face, he turned to survey the battle.

He could hear Sarah praise him. Well, not quite praise him, but get excited for his ability to do it. She was so happy that he did it, that he didn’t even have to show how happy he was to have finished the enemy off. It was honestly quite amazing that anyone could be so excited for him. But then the woman blushed, and turned away, continuing on with her fight, throwing her knives at the Quazzar. He wondered if there was anything that caused her to blush, or if there was a reason she blushed harder. ‘Maybe she likes you, pretty boy.’ He heard, the E-Trooper speaking to him through the normal means. Akio smiled, turning away, trying not to focus on that.

‘No one likes me. Not anymore.’ His smile faded, and he focused on what needed to be done. The E-Trooper didn’t, couldn’t, react to his words, so he remained silent. Akio focused on what Acel was doing, wondering where he should jump in. Now that he wasn’t focusing on his own battle he could see just how badly Acel was being beaten. Granted, the Guard was nearly down, and so was the Quazzar, but Acel might end up going down if they they weren’t careful.

He gritted his teeth. Damn it, they needed to take down everything fast. ‘I’ll have to go for the worker. If I don’t, Acel might die.’ Akio felt bad for mostly ignoring Acel during the battle, but he couldn’t afford the compassion it took to protect him or worry for him while they fought for their lives. Besides, they wouldn’t actually die. It would hurt, yes, but they would not die. The only thing he could worry about at the moment was Acel’s mind and what was going to happen to it after the battle. Their bodies would heal, but he knew from experience that the mind too much longer. And the fact that this stupid angel thing fed off the hurt that they had cause him simply because they ignored his health only made it worse. Still, they had to finish the battle before he could make sure that Ducky was okay.

So, he decided to attack the worker. He wasn’t sure how much damage he could do to the a*****e, but it would take some of the heat off Acel. That, and the other two were so close to going down that he would leave that to their respective attackers. One more hit each, hopefully. With Acel practically weeping, and Sarah focusing hard on taking down her own enemy, Akio chose to attack the worker. He had a distinct feeling that he wasn’t going to have such an easy time with him, but that wouldn’t keep him from trying. Akio didn’t care? Had he shown his true colors? Possibly. Akio didn’t quite believe himself trustworthy, especially not after two days of knowing each other. Still, it wasn’t something to focus on. There were other things that were much more important.

Akio turned the blade in his hand, gripping it so that he had a better hold of it. He wasn’t sure about the electricity yet, so he wouldn't use it. So instead, he waited for a halfway decent time in which to use his attack, and he took it. He wasn’t quite sure what the Worker would do in reaction, but it was worth the risk. Akio attacked from behind, trying to keep as quick and quiet as possible, then swung his sword, hoping to draw his blade down the Workers back. He wanted the mission to be over. He wanted it to be over now, so they could patched the hole in the shield. Go home, take a nap, a long shower, perhaps read a book about thermonuclear astrophysics to pass the night. Just have to take those last two out, then beat down the Worker. Maybe they could do it… Just maybe.

Turn 9

Acel's Attack x2: 77 - 70 = 7 (100 - 7 = 93% Defense Chance) (-13% From Acel + Guard's T.A = 80% Chance) (-15% From Stamina = 65% Chance)

The Royal Guard had been hoping to hit the man when he shot the twin palm strike toward his ribs, but he was too quick, yet again, but at the same time, as he was avoiding the smaller A.I.'s strikes, the Worker came swinging in again, and he was not going to let this man continue his rampage. The Worker's attack slammed home, smashing the human across the face in a splash of blood and teeth. This man was a mess. And not only was he a mess, he was a mess that was foolishly trying to fight as though he weren't. As though it were all okay, and he could just keep pushing his body. Sure, the A.I. couldn't say too much, as it was also doing the exact same thing--but it didn't have a human body. It was not as frail as this man. The wounds in its body were severe, but it was still holding together. The code within it was aggravated at best, beginning to stress against the physical body that it had created, but it would not let itself fall to pieces and be erased from time. No. It absolutely would not. Acel was coming at him once again, running, but this time the man was using his bad leg as well, and it soon gave way after a couple of strides, and the Royal Guard watched him enter a sloppy roll, springing upwards with all of his strength to throw a slash at the Royal Guard, but it was messy--it was messy because the man was unable to properly utilize his body in the shape that he was in. The Royal Guard was able to easily deflect the first slash with its arm, batting it away like it were nothing, and then when the man tried for his second attack, spinning and slashing out at the already grievously wounded side, the Royal Guard hopped forward, bowling into the man and knocking him backwards so that he would stumble instead of finishing the slash.

There was no way that the Royal Guard was going to allow itself to fail now. There was too much going on. There was too much to lose. They still had a chance at this, as long as they stuck together and kept fighting. They were missing a lot of their attacks, but this human was so close to death now, that it would take a miracle for him to get out of this alive. The Royal Guard had been missing his attacks the entire battle, but it wouldn't let up now. It wouldn't let itself fall this time. It roared out in defiance--trying to break the hold of the fear that had been piercing it. It had avoided both of his strikes now. This time the man had nothing against the Guard. There was no reason to fear this broken man! He could beat him! The royal Guard charged forward once again, shooting toward the injured man and aiming for a kick to his broken face--hopefully the last thing that the man ever felt.

The Quazzar, as it soared over Acel's head, releasing its glob of acidic goodness, was hoping to watch the man's hair burn off and maybe see him writhe around on the ground in agony for a little while, but he did not have the proper chance to do so. Somehow, no matter where the damn Quazzar was attacking from, this stupid human was getting out of the way of all of his attacks. He dove to the side and avoided the strike expertly. The acid merely hit the ground where he had been standing and sizzled against the metal grates of the underground levels. As the Quazzar landed from its leap over Acel's head, it whirled around just in time to see the horrible b*****d get his face knocked in by the Worker. The Quazzar actually hopped up in excitement, though, when it jumped it screeched in pain as the wounds on its body opened up. It was about to dive back into the fray, using its last bits of energy to attack the man again, but all of a sudden it remembered something terrible. That girl. That stupid, knife throwing floozy! She was still alive and kicking and had a bone to pick with the Quazzar for some reason! The E-Trooper had already fallen--something the Royal Guard seemed to not even notice as he waged war with the injured human. But, when it looked all around itself it saw no knives. Where had they gone? Why wasn't she throwing them!? What was she doing?

Then it realized as it focused on the girl instead of on looking for her b*****d projectiles that had been stabbing it all fight. As it locked eyes with her, fear took over, and the Quazzar could almost believe that it was SHE who was the Angel of Despair, as it rocked the emotion through it to the core. Her scythe was smashing down toward it, and there was nothing it could do. No way for it to avoid the strike. The scythe came in its downward slash and it cut clean through into the Quazzar's body, slicing through its back and driving the tip of the scythe through its underbelly. The A.I. let out a couple of feeble squeaks, but as it writhed upon the ground for a few seconds the body began to deteriorate into strands of code, flowing through the air and amassing above the body. It was dark--almost black in colour, and it looked as if the area around the code strands was actually dripping with toxic juices, just like the damn thing's blood. If nobody claimed it, their Code Cores would instead absorb the data and feed off of it--enriching the A.I. that they all controlled.

Turn 9

The Worker watched as the man was able to deflect the blows from the A.I. that it was fighting with. The way that he knocked the palm strikes away from the Royal Guard frightened him in a way--worrying him that this broken man still had enough fight in him to actually get out of this alive. But then, as he dove off to the side of the Quazzar's acidic airdrop, the Worker saw his opening. He would not let it slip, and he would make sure that this man felt the pain of death. Little did he know--of course--that the man had already felt the pain of death once before. However, as Acel was getting to his feet, the man was already rocketing towards him, and when Acel saw the Worker aiming for the punch, both of them knew it was impossible for him to avoid the strike. The Worker had still not been hit in the course of the battle--whereas Acel was about to die. But, Acel was still able to utilize his intense battlefield perception to guess at where the man would attack with the second blow--the other side of his head. As he struck out, the Worker grinned as he felt his fist land against the side of Acel's face, smashing the man's face into blood and teeth, and the Worker revelled in the sight of the man shooting backward. The second hit was blocked by his arms, and the Worker had to commend him on that--it was not an easy feat to block the speedy strikes that the Worker was capable of. He was a good fighter--to be sure--but that didn't mean that it would save him. The Worker WOULD have his life.

They had lost the E-Trooper already, which they could deal with. It was not the end of the world. They would recuperate from such a loss. But, shortly after, they were assailed by the woman that travelled with the other baiters. It was silly to differentiate strength due to sex, but the Worker had to admit that she hadn't struck him as a very strong woman at first, but she had proven herself otherwise. As she stabbed the Quazzar through, ending its life, the Worker watched as the code floated upwards in its ball of writhing information. That left the horribly injured Royal Guard and the Worker. They were outnumbered at this point, and it was frightening situation. The Worker knew that it was likely he would die here...but, he would be taking the blonde b*****d with him, too! But, before he had a chance to eliminate the blonde--well...the black haired male, now, he supposed, but either way, before he would be able to actually kill him, he would need to make sure that the others did not manage to take him down beforehand. the pretty asian man was headed toward him already, coming in for an attack, and as the man swung his sword down toward him, the Worker spun quickly and brought his fist shooting across, slamming it into the flat of the blade perfectly and redirecting the slash. "You're not going to take me down, Scarface." The Worker growled, laughing at his own horrible insult. But, he had successfully used a hundreds upon hundreds of years old movie reference that not even the human male he fought would likely understand. The Worker blasted forward toward Acel, cocking back his fist and then shooting it forward toward the center of his forehead, giving a completely and totally see-through attack. The Worker was cocky--sure that the man wouldn't be able to avoid it in the shape he was in. The second strike, attacking simultaneously was a roundhouse kick, the man immediately spinning and bringing his foot up so that the punch and the kick would connect to the man's head at the same time, ending his pitiful little existence.

Sarah watched Acel, or whoever he wanted to be known as. She wasn't going to call him Angel of Despair, that was for sure. His words had hit her home, she barely noticed he spoke Chinese to them. The words on their own were what mattered and now she felt like she should just stop. The joy she had felt for Akio's victory against the Trooper had died just as quickly as it had first came up. How could she have been so heartless? She had ignored Acel during the battle. She just now saw how bad of shape Acel was in, and there she was cheering off for a different team member. She was just heartless. Don't worry about it princess. I would say he's just jealous. The Guard said in her head, making her shake it. No, that wasn't it. He had every right to be angry.

If you feel that way, you can make it up to him. The Guard said as Sarah's scythe hit home on the Quazzar, ending it's life. She pulled the scythe away from the body as it slowly turned into an acidic colored code that seemed to drip in acid. That's disgusting. She shuddered, before turning toward the others. Akio absorbed the Trooper, she was surprised to see that. But she wasn't about to touch the orb of codes that Quazzar had turned into. Who knew if it was even safe to touch with the acid on it. How can I make it up? Sarah asked the guard quietly in her head.

Let me out, quickly

Sarah felt the Guard shift inside her mind, feeling a slight pressure. She didn't know what he planned to do. But if it meant to help them in this fight, then she couldn't argue. Maybe he could help Acel in some way. She let out a breath, thinking of how she could possibly let him out. Open her mind? Was that how? She closed her eyes, picturing a door opening inside her mind. She felt a slight heat coming from her headphones, making her open her eyes in time to see a rush of white code from the side of her head. She was sure it was from her headphones. The code began to take form of the Guard. The Guard was just as large in person as he was in her dreams, towering over her like knights in the stories she use to read when she was younger.

The Guard didn't waste time, he charged forward, grabbing for Acel by the back of his shirt and quickly yanked him out of the worker's line of attack, holding him in the air and away from the worker. The Guard quickly brought down it's other arm, blocking the kick the worker had tried to throw at the man as well. To hell with that whole Angel of Despair business. He needed help and was too much of an a** to admit it. “Just fyi, Sarah sent me Acel. Just for you, so quit with the guilt trip.” He said before gently putting him back down.

Sarah was very impressed. She would have to admit, when she saw that the Guard was going after Acel. Only to see that he was getting him out of harms way. Her thoughts quickly thought the Guard was a goner, the worker was stronger, but once again the Guard surprised her by blocking and avoiding the attacks while protecting Acel. While she would admit she hoped the Guard would help Acel, she couldn't say she actually sent him to do it. She took a deep breath, watching as Akio had attacked the Worker. He quickly avoided the attack easily. This wasn't going to be easy. She knew that though, and if the Guard could avoid his attacks so easily, then surely she could be just as impressive.

Gripping her scythe, a deep breath entering her lungs, she lunged forward. The worker was faster than her, but he would get tired sooner or later. With all of them attacking him soon, he would surely get tired and slip up. She raised her scythe, bringing it down toward the worker, aiming for his left shoulder.

Turn 9

Royal Guard's Attack: 64 - 61 = 3 (100 - 3 = 97% Defense Chance) (-15% From Stamina = 82% Defense Chance) (+8% From T.A = 90% Defense Chance)

As Acel had tumbled forward, his leg twisted and grotesque from the re-breaking of the limb, he was still sure of himself. He was at the last fleeting moments of his life, and yet, he was still maintaining a certain calm. He was able to separate the possibility of death from everything else and bury it. What was death, now? There was no such thing. You could throw your body endlessly into the jaws of hell and come screaming back to life. The only way for an enemy to truly kill you was to destroy the code cores that you possessed before they killed you. If they managed to do that...well...even a baiter was s**t out of luck. As he sprung up from the roll, however, using his momentum to slash upwards at the Royal Guard, the thing managed to bat away his attack as if it were nothing. He had just cut through this metal b*****d multiple times, and yet it was sitting there swatting him away like a fly!? His head pounded, and his flaking skin seemed to start retreating, pulling back into flesh instead of leaving the bare muscle exposed to the air. As he spun around for the second attack, the Guard was able to do the exact same thing again, easily avoiding the attack, and Acel was getting a little pissed off as the thing charged into him and blasted him backwards and off balance. How the hell did it manage to best him so easily!? It had been so weak before! He refused to believe that it was him who was growing weaker. He was the god damn Angel of Despair. He wasn't going to die in this backwater s**t city! He was going to rule it! He was going to crush these A.I. bastards, tear the baiters to pieces, and then take this ******** "Chicago" as his throne. He tried to push himself to his feet, using his hands to push up from the grates below him.

He ground his teeth as he prepared himself for the retaliation, trying to get himself up before the Royal Guard had a chance to get an attack in. And then, as he looked over to the thing, it was already blasting toward him, throwing a vicious kick toward his head. Acel immediately let his body fall back down to the grate and rolled away from the Royal Guard, trying to make sure that he was out of range of the kick, and he felt the wind from it rustle his hair as the leg went whizzing by his face. When he had finally made it to his feet, he realized that the other A.I. had both been defeated, and he smirked as he looked at the glob of code that was left over by the Quazzar, at least the enemies were suffering casualties as well. So, there it was, he wouldn't have to deal with an onslaught of attacks this time. He watched as the Worker prepared to dive him once more--an attack that could very well be the last one for this one of Acel's lives. But, as the man shot toward him, throwing the punch directly toward his forehead, Acel felt the Guard grab him from behind, though he knew it was not the enemy Guard. Sarah's Guard pulled him up and into the air, sending him away from the Worker before he managed to swing up and block the simultaneous kick as well. HOW? The Guard that Sarah controlled was quite weak for an A.I. How the hell was it managing to block the attacks of the man that had been savaging Acel all battle? That made no damn sense! It was impressive to be sure, but none-the-less, it was unbelievable at best.

As he dangled in the air, and the Guard told him to stop his guilt trip, Acel scoffed at him, turning his nose up in disgust. "I didn't ask for her help. She just..." Acel sniffed, and he reached up, shock on his face, to wipe away the tear from his cheek. He coughed, clearing his throat as the Guard was letting him down. "She just felt bad. Making herself feel better, that's all it is." He muttered, balancing himself on his good leg as the Worker was pushed back. "Now if you'll excuse me. I have some business to attend to. Someone who's overstayed their welcome." Acel stated, venom in his voice as he turned, keeping his leg hanging, slightly raised to keep all the pressure off of it before he hopped forward, sheathing one of his swords and holding the other tight as he charged the Guard, thrusting with all of his might as he tried to jam his sword through the Guard's head. He would immediately pull back from the jab and with both hands swing the sword in a horizontal slash trying to cut into the thing from the opposite side as he had been damaging all battle to surprise and catch it off guard. It was time to end this b*****d.

                                        Turn 9

Akio had taken only a few breaths, but he could already tell he wasn’t going to get the attack in on the worker. The man managed to palm strike the blade, effectively pushing the blade away from him in order to block the attack. Through this whole mission, Akio had been gritting his teeth, and this point was no exception. He would have a rough migraine at the end of this, he knew it. But now wasn’t the time to worry about that. He had to come up with an effective strategy to beat down this damned worker. Scarface? Akio squinted his eyes. Was that a reference to something? An old movie or TV show that he’s neglected to watch? Probably. Akio wasn’t one for entertainment of the like unless he was watching it with someone he had the potential to bed that same night. ‘Netflix and Chill’ as the old saying went.

Dancing back, Akio took another look at what was going around, taking in what he had missed during his previous movements. After a moment, he noticed a floating ball of awful acidic goop that bobbed in place just as the E-Trooper had done…. Just much more vile and disgusting. Akio looked up to Sarah who had killed it and smiled, actually quite proud of her. Now she had a scythe out, looking small yet dangerous. It would be unwise to underestimate such a woman. And, he noticed only a fraction of a second later, she had summoned her Guard to aid in the battle, using him to protect Acel from the Workers attacks. Good, that means he would be in the fight much longer. Good… There was a chance that they could win this battle.

With a calming breath, Akio formulated a quick plan to win. Hopefully it would work, and they would all come out of all this alive and not go back to the Headquarters in pieces. Sarah was already in line to attack the worker as well, Acel continuing to work on the persistent Guard with the potential help of Sarah’s guard. That was already a good plan, Acel would only need to land one more hit on the thing, and they would be set. So, Akio’s plan only extended to his and Sarah’s fight with the worker. At least for the time being. Acel could do it. He knew he could. So, he gripped his Katana, and readied to lunge forward in another attack. While Sarah looked to be deliberating something, Akio heard the E-Trooper say something that interested him. ‘Do be a favor, and engulf your sword in lightning. I wanna see how that looks.’ Akio grinned, thinking on how exactly to do that.

And little did he know that it would be so incredibly easy. With a simple thought, him willing the lightning to do what he asked and the E-Trooper putting in his part of the power, lightning weaved it’s way down the blade of the sword. Akio let out a surprised laugh as he watched electricity flicker and dance from his hand down the blade like he was a live wire. Oh, boy was he excited. “Ó, zhè shì huīhuáng de…” he muttered, looking back up at the worker. This was going to get exciting. He watched Sarah lunge, and soon he did too, aiming for the opposite shoulder as she did. The E-Trooper was excited, he could feel it. This fact was amusing, as the AI had previously served as an ally to the Worker, but clearly did not like him. ‘Enjoy as we beat the s**t out of this man.’

Akio spun, going in for another attack. He felt faster with the trooper, not quite stronger, but definitely faster. That did nothing to bother him. Faster was good, and did everything to better their chances in getting in more attacks. His next attack was just as simple as the first, going in for a slash that would come across the man’s back if it hit. ‘Oh, don’t worry, pretty boy. I’m looking forward to seeing him die.

Turn 10

Acel's Attack x2: 77 - 70 = 7 (100 - 7 = 93% Defense Chance) (-13% From Acel + Guard's T.A = 80% Chance) (-30% From Stamina = 50% Chance)

Everyone else was dead. There was no time for it to joke around anymore. There was no time for it to hesitate or to let itself drop its guard for even a second. It was just the Guard and the Worker, and they had to fend off all three of these b*****d. The least the guard could do was eliminate one of the baiters. If it could kill this blonde man then it would manage to open a whole new world of possibility for victory. The Worker was a strong contender in this fight. If he managed to land a few hits, then he had every opportunity to actually destroy the baiter enemies. The Guard had been unable to land the kick like it had wanted to, but it still knew that the man was on his last legs. It didn't really matter if the Royal Guard was able to land the strike on the man right this very moment. As long as he landed one strike on him to finish the b*****d human off, then it wouldn't be an issue. The man would die with one more hit, the Guard was sure of it. How could a fragile human expect to take on any more damage than he had already withstood. The Royal Guard stabilized itself from when the man had avoided his kick, and when it had found his feet, the Guard prepared itself for the man to rush back into combat and attack at it once again. This time the man was clearly desperate. He was using desperate measures to land one last hit--because as much as the Guard wanted to act tough, it knew it was in the same boat as this man. If it was hit by any sort of strikes at this point, it was going to die as well.

Acel came charging forward like a madman, stabbing out at the Guard's face with the sword, hoping to just drive it through the Guard's helmet, it was sure. However, as the blade came thrusting in, the Guard swung its arm up in a full circle, using it to club the blade upward so that the stabbing motion would soar high above its head. The Guard, at the same time, also ducked to double the dodging effect and then as the strike was blocked, Acel pulled the sword back quickly and then swung it with all of his might, attempting to cleave the Royal Guard in half. The Guard, however, could not allow that to happen. It immediately jumped backwards, hopping out of the swing range of the injured man and allowing the blade to cut nothing but air. This man was nothing but an exhausted tiger. It was swatting out at everything that came close out of fear of his exhaustion being used against him, but he was not planning the attacks out. He was not careful about how he went on with his combat--this could be the end of the man. The Royal Guard waited for the man's body to turn drastically from the momentum of the swing and then immediately hurled the strongest possible backhand strike toward him, though he was not aiming to hit the man with the back of his hand, but instead aiming to use the blade on the side of its arm to stab into him and puncture his vitals. This was the last strike--the Guard could feel it. One of them, within the next movement, would be dead.

Turn 10
Sarah's attack: 50 - 60 = 1 (100 - 1 = 99% Defense Chance) (-30% From Stamina = 69% Defense Chance)
Akio's Attack x2: 50 - 60 = 1 (100 - 1 = 99% Defense Chance) (-30% From Stamina = 69% Defense Chance)
Failed! (250 - 180 = 70 Damage)

The Worker was so close to killing this man that he could taste it. He was so close to managing a proper kill on him, but at the same time, he could not seem to secure it. Something came up, every single time. It was like the gods of luck were laughing at him. He was being mocked by the bastards that controlled fate. As he was striking out toward the man's face, the woman managed to summon forth her A.I. core, and it immediately jumped in the way of the attack. The little p***k had actually managed to block his strikes. The Guard pulled Acel out of the way the fist time, lifting him right off of the ground and holding him in the air like a naughty child. Then, as the worker actually followed up with the kick, the Guard brought its arm up to meet it, and was actually able to deflect the blow. The Guard was one of those who had been imprisoned--it was a weak A.I. that had barely seen battle for decades. How was it able to stand up so easily to the Worker's speed and strength!? How did that make any sense at all. The Royal Guard that the Worker was fighting alongside was managing to keep the blonde b*****d busy, which was helping out an enormous amount. It had all the time in the world to fight off these other two, but an additional enemy would be a nuisance to put it lightly. But--even with these other two, it had to do something about the woman's Royal Guard. She had summoned it to protect the dying baiter, and if it got in the way again, it would be an issue.

As the Worker thought about the strategy that he could use to win this fight, he realized that he carelessly left the others to their own devices, and this was not something that could be allowed. They were too dangerous, and the Worker had obviously grown stupid in its exhaustion. Now, as Sarah came in, swinging her scythe down toward his left shoulder, the Worker slammed his fist into the side of the scyhe's shaft, shooting the blade off to the side so that it came crashing down on the floor instead of into his arm, but as he tried to instantly react to the man at the same time, the Worker found himself unable to keep up. The man's slash was so fast that the Worker could hardly believe it. And then, suddenly, the man's blade jumped to life--electric waves shooting across its surface and crackling around it. Well, it would seem that the E-Trooper was lending the man a hand in his combat prowess. Well, ******** it then! It obviously wasn't loyal! As the man rushed in, slashing across at the Worker's back, the Worker dove forward, away from the man to avoid the attack from behind. It instantly sprung back to its feet and locked onto the woman's Royal Guard. If he was going to block the attacks on the dying baiter, anyways, then it would have to be the first thing that the Worker killed. The Worker blasted forward toward the Royal Guard that Sarah commanded, and immediately hurled a crushing punch toward the armoured enemy's chest. Twisting around and sending a vicious punch toward its head at the same time. "You live another moment, human, but your time will close soon." The Worker snapped. Hell--maybe the almost dead royal Guard would kill the man before the Worker even had to dirty his hands.

Sarah frowned at Acel's words. Sure she felt bad, but it wasn't the only thing that made her want to help him. The Guard wasn't buying it either it seemed. It scoffed at Acel as he walked away. “How many of you humans refuse to admit feelings? It's becoming rather dull.” Sarah glared at the guard, but it merely shrugged it's shoulders, brushing off Sarah's reaction. Not like it wasn't true. Sarah knew that and so did the Guard, the Guard was always inside her head so it would know.

Sarah quickly loosened her grip on the scythe as it hit the floor, keeping the vibration from the impact against the hard concrete from causing her to lose her weapon completely. She watched as Akio's first attack actually landed onto the worker. At least she was able to help Akio land a hit on the man. Though it was impressive to see lightening now sparking from sword. That was certainly different. She didn't think she ever saw that happen without it being from special effects from computers.

The Guard watched the worker, seeing him lock his eyes on it. The Guard prepared itself, knowing it was in for it. So much for helping them out for the fight. The Guard quickly blocked the first punch toward it's chest with both hands, but the next punch came in just as quickly. The guy punched hard. Of course, the Guard wasn't that strong and it knew it. It's armor wasn't as strong as it once was before it was captured. It heard the metal tear as the worker's fist went through the helmet. It was fun while it lasted. It thought to itself before turning into code and traveled back inside Sarah's headphones.

Sarah watched the whole thing, feeling absolutely terrible. Dear Lord, it didn't stand a chance against a direct attack from the worker. She touched her headphones, almost expecting them to feel damaged themselves from the worker being killed, but they felt find. Though she did feel drained after the Guard had come into the field. She took a deep breath, trying to push the guilt down. The Guard knew it was going to happen, so there was no need to hang onto the feeling. She brought her scythe up again, returning her tight grip on it. She couldn't stop just because her partner went down. It would just tell her to stop being stupid anyways and fight.

She quickly lunged at the worker, scythe raised to her midsection, swinging it horizontally, aiming for the worker's side with the blade. The Worker had gotten hit by Akio, hopefully that hit did something to the worker and she could land a hit of her own as well.

Turn 10

Royal Guard's Attack: 64 - 61 = 3 (100 - 3 = 97% Defense Chance) (-30% From Stamina = 67% Defense Chance) (+8% From T.A = 75% Defense Chance)

Acel's breathing was ragged, and the blood was still dripping readily from his face, where his mouth had been savaged by the Worker's strike. The Guard had stood up and defended him the first time he had been summoned, and miraculously it had been a success. However, the second time around was not as lucky for the poor bucket of bolts. The Worker obviously didn't look too favourably upon the thing helping Acel out, and as soon as the Worker got a chance, it charged in towards Sarah's Royal Guard, and it crushed its head in so quick that the thing barely had time to realize it was done for before it was back into code and going into Sarah's earphones. He blinked a few times, grumbling to himself inaudibly about the damn Guard and his bullshit chivalry. He could just give that son of a b***h a kiss. He was--after all--the only reason that Acel was still standing. The guard, surprisingly enough had managed to dodge both of his attacks--which was a little more than aggravating for Acel--especially in the form he was in--but he was getting tired as hell. "You want to silence me, do you, a*****e!? Just you wait. I'm coming for your Angelic buns, NOT-Acel, and when I get a hold of them you're going to experience trauma that your grandkids will talk about." Midas snapped--using the man's exhaustion to push his way back into Acel's mind. "Oh piss off, you annoying little lapdog. Why don't you go find Acel's damaged psyche and kiss it better before he's lost for good? Wouldn't that be more worth your time?" The Angel snapped, taunting the A.I. and simultaneously giving it way too much information on what it should be doing. The Guard smashed the attack upwards that was meant for his head, and ducked low, getting out of its way with room to spare. And then, as the sideways attack came in, the guard hopped backwards, too, taking great care not to fall in half from the severely deep wounds to its side that left its body holding on by a thread.

However, the almost-dead b*****d had some tenacity. It charged forward yet again, aiming for Acel and trying to swing a vicious backhand at him, using the long blades on the back of its arm. Acel was not about to fall for such a batman-esque attack. To hell with this super-douche! He scrunched up his nose in frustration and he thrust out his sword, balancing on his one leg and leaning into the force, so he wouldn't be instantly blasted off of his good foot. He connected sword to arm and pushed with all of his might, halting the progress of the attack and managing by a miracle to stay on his feet. As he pushed off of the arm, he hopped backwards to avoid any grazes from the arm passing by after he released it from the hold he was trying to keep. But, now that he had freed himself from another strike that this Guard was throwing at him, he would have a chance to strike once again. And this time--there was no way that the Guard was going to avoid it. Acel wouldn't allow it. He breathed heavily, his fiery eyes dying down--like cooling magma. The red less intense, and the orbs growing slightly dark. He held his sword tightly and when he pushed off of the floor towards the Royal Guard, he paid special attention to his surroundings as he slashed out towards the Royal Guard, but used the attack as a feint. The real target was a wire by the Guard's feet. If the wire was cut, the emergency hatch that it was leading to would trigger and open--conveniently below the Guard's feet. This hatch would lead to a very long fall to its death if Acel managed to get it. If the Guard avoided it, he would hop forward once again, toward wherever it had dodged to and attempt to unleash another slash toward the Guard's wounded abdomen.

                                        Turn 10

Akio had to take a step back, letting out a harsh breath as he realized just what had happened. Because he had timed his attack in such a way that it would land at the same time as Sarah’s, he had managed to land a hit on the Worker. While that meant almost nothing in the way of damage, it meant that the man was not infallible. He had managed to make the man bleed, and may have done something else, considering the lightning coated sword. Oh, good lord, he was excited. It didn’t even matter that he had missed his second attack. He had lightning, electricity, at his disposal now. That meant he could do some amazing things, things that he never would have imagined years before. Maybe even months. His speed increased, and he had a power that fit him so well. Akio grinned… This was going to be excruciatingly fun.

However, the Guard was still up. That was highly unfortunate, knowing that because of that Akio and Sarah wouldn’t be getting much help from Acel at all. For a moment, he debated going after the Guard next, aiding Acel in a way that wouldn’t mean that he would put his life on the line. The thing was on its last leg, barely able to keep up with what was going on at the moment. It would die soon, but it still somehow managed to dodge everything Ducky could throw at it. But no… He had to get as many attacks into the Worker as possible, hopefully able to weaken the man significantly before he could strike again. Luckily, the man went for Sarah’s guard this time around, rather than Acel. He was the one who was able to do more damage, focusing in strength rather than Akio’s speed. If they kept going, working together like this… They could possibly kill the remaining enemies before dying, themselves.

But he couldn’t think about that. No, he had to focus on doing his best and getting through his first mission. So, while the damned Worker was attacking Sarah’s guard, Akio checked on Acel. He seemed to be doing alright, managing to dodge the latest attack thrown at him. He was still very injured, but even though he had one foot in his grave, he was still kicking. As hard as he could… Akio couldn’t help but be impressed, offering the man a quick thumbs up. “Just a few more hits…” He told himself in a low voice. And there was something in him that wanted to tell Acel to keep moving forward, then Sarah to believe in herself. Something in him that wanted so badly to make sure that his teammates could continue this hard battle, one where there was still only a slim hope of winning… But he said nothing. Instead, he gritted his teeth, pushing the thoughts and feelings deep in the back of his mind.

With a jump forward, Akio moved to attack again, once more moving in a fluid move set to make sure that his attack would land with Sarah’s. She was skilled as well, and he knew that if they worked together, then they would eventually be able to land some good hits, hopefully able to bring this b*****d down before he killed them all. So, with Akio’s sword flickering with lightning, bright blue strands dancing around the blade and his hand, sometimes sparking to the floor, he attacked the Workers back. He knew the swing wouldn’t do too much damage if it landed, but he attacked anyway, drawing the sword down the man’s other side. The next attack came just as swiftly, moving with one fluid motion that would hopefully surprise the worker so he wouldn’t block. If both hits landed, he would be ecstatic, and knowing that there was a possibility made him want to fight harder. ‘Hopefully’ was the best he could get at the moment.
