Israel thought back to what she had said and grinned. "That's right... momento," she said, more for herself, holding his gaze. When he turned to look out the window, she pushed some of her hair out of her face and followed his eyes out to the beach.
"Not really. I used to make sand castles when my father took me out to the beach when I was little. They were definitely far from being called sculptures," she replied. "But that sounds like fun. Are you ready to go down there now?"

"I am." He said standing and walking over to the register to pay. "And it doesn't matter. If strip lights can be considered works of art then so can sand castles." He said holding the door open for her.

Israel giggled at his analogy as she walked out into the fresh seaside air. She led the way down the stone steps that went to the beach and sat down on the bottom step to pull off her shoes and socks. She loved the feel of sand on her bare feet. She rolled her jeans up a little past her ankles and stood up to look up at him.
"So what should we do first Signore Rossi? Work on one together or pick something to make and we each make our own to compare?" she asked, looking right into his soft brown eyes.

Giani followed her down to the beach following suit as she rolled her trousers up. The sand was warm and welcoming he paused for a few moments letting it slide between his toes.
"Hmm." He mused returning her gaze, his eyes holding an amused glint. "How about a competition? The loser is at the winner's mercy for the rest of the day. What do you think?"

"That hardly seems fair. You've already been placed at my mercy once today. But I'm willing to make it two to zero if you think you can stand losing to a girl," she teased with a wink. "Freestyle? Where we can do whatever we want? Or should we pick a genre or theme to stick to?" she asked, starting towards the surf where the sand was damp.

"Oh you think you are going to win." He said with a smirk scanning the wet sand for a good place to work. "I say we have a theme and that theme is .... Japan." Ha smirked pulling an idea from nowhere. Usually, he would like to work freestyle but a theme seemd good for a challenge.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and set the timer for one hour. "Sixty minutes .... from .... now." He said pressing the button and dropping down to the wet sand to start work.

"I am going to win," she smiled smugly, nodding in agreement to his choice of topic. As he set the timer on his phone she thought about what she could do. She dropped down to her knees just as he did and immediately started scooping up wet sand into a pile. Once she was satisfied with the small tower she had created, she began to mold it, giving it a defined shape.
She was completely absorbed in her work and didn't spare Giani's sculpture a glance. Slowly, under her hands a three tiered pagoda took shape. When his phone alarm went off, she jumped a little, knocking one of the corners of the top roof off. Glaring at the offending mistake, she pulled away and glanced over at Giani.
"Alright. Time to see how well I kicked your butt," she grinned.

Giani spent the time sculpting flat on the ground building form up slowly to sculpt the subtle curves of a face, smoothing more sand he hid the face behind a fan shape, only the eyes peering over. Finally he moulded the hair of his geisha, grabbing some nearby seaweed to add the finishing touches. As his alarm went off he stood and looked over at Israel. "My butt. i think yours is the one that will be kicked." He smirked peeering over at her pagoda. "So, how shall we judge?"

Israel barely heard his question as she stared down at his geisha. She slowly knelt down next to it to peer at it closer. She brushed her hair out of her eyes, to keep herself from reaching out to touch his sculpture.
"She's beautiful," she said, her eyes taking in each little detail he had added. "I'm sorry to have to admitt it... but I think you may actually be right Giani. I think my butt was kicked," she smiled, turning her eyes up to him.

Giani raised his eyebrow and grinned. Should he protest and declare it a draw? Nope, he wasn't that kind of a guy when it came to art. When he came to art he was arrogant, willing to accept praise where it was due.
"Hmm, now I do believe that means you are at my mercy Signorina Sophronia." He said gently once more returning her gaze. "But I wonder if I may save your debt for another time? There is something particular I wish to ask from you. Today however maybe isn't the best time." He raised an eyebrow holding eyecontact throughout the sentence.

Israel blushed lightly under his intense eyes, and chewed on her lower lip. She rose up to her feet and brushed the sand off the knees of her jeans.
"Hmm... that hardly seems fair. Are you really going to keep me in suspense like that?" she asked, stepping up closer to him to peer up into his eyes.

Giani held her gaze even as she stepped up close to him. "I want to draw you very much." He said, his familiar cheeky grin appearing on his lips. "But I think maybe you need to think about it first." raising both eyebows he turned away grinning and walked towards the sea.

Israel watched him walk away with a smirk. Truth was, she had been thinking about it ever since he had first asked her when he made the offer earlier in the day. Following after him, she slipped her hands into her back pockets.
"But I have thought about it," she smirked, looking at him out of the corner of her eye. "Wouldn't you like to know what I've decided?"

Giani watched the water wash over his feet and smiled as she walked out behind him. "Do enlighten me dulce." He said kicking the water a little looking down at her. "Or are you going to keep me in suspense too?"

Israel knelt down to place her fingertips in the cool water. She let his question hang on the air for a moment as she watched the waves roll towards her. She stood back up and turned to face him.
"I'm so going to keep you in suspense. You're just going to have wait to find out on the day that you decide to ask me," she smirked, giving her hair a bit of a toss as the wind blew some of it across her face.
