Chel took one of the boxes from his arms to lighten the load, walking towards the kitchen where she would assumed it would go. They had to go there anyways to make cocoa.
"Dunno. You wanna go right into it or did you want to chill for a bit?" He had just gotten home after all, and while Chel was an extrovert that recharged by the presence of people, she knew Jack was almost an extreme opposite.

"Ah...Depends on when you want to open your present," he replied after a short pause.

That certainly got some attention. "S'not my birthday and Christmas is a ways off."
She hefted the box onto the counter and looked at him with hands on her hips. "Well ... you tell me when I'm openin' said present," she told him. Always Jack's decision. "I'm gonna make hot chocolate."

He raised a brow at the comment but replied, "After you're done, then."
When her back was turned, Jack took a peak in the box just to make sure it was the correct one. "If it helps, this one is mine," he said, tapping the box he currently had. "Wanted to get us something when I did a resupply."

Chel had already fumbled for a pot (this cupboard? No wait- this one) and was sifting through the fridge for milk. She really hoped they had it- hot chocolate wasn't the same without milk.
His explanation had her even more curious; she hadn't realized the boxes he'd been carrying were the present, she'd just thought they were boxes from the house. She spotted the milk and went to pour it in the pan. Without turning back to look at him, she said, "Matching set? Sounds pretty gay dude." She was pleased though; it being an "us" gift instead of a "gift for you" actually made it a lot easier for her to accept.
With the milk poured there was nothing to do except wait for it to heat up. "Alright, I'll bite beanstalk," she told him, making a grabby motion for "her" box. "I hope it's a puppy."

"Good thing you're mega gay," he shot back, leaning against the counter as he nudged the box forward.
Inside was a dragon kigurumi, felt-toothed hood and all. He waited a few moments to gauge her response before commenting, "Now you can really be the dragon."

Chel pulled it out, already breaking out in a wide smile but didn't realize it was a onesy. "Oh my god is it a blanket?" she questioned.
It was only in unfolding it that she realized it was much, much better than a blanket. She threw her head back in laughter at the sheer ridiculousness of the present. Honestly it wasn't something she'd wear much in the long run (too much fabric, too hot, a little too dorky for her) but Chel was a reactionary person and she loved it for the present stupidity it provided.
"And yours?" she asked, already undoing the buttons to put it on.

Relaxing a little, he had already opened his box as she laughed and was unfolding it just as Chel asked. In Jack's case, it was a skeleton version. (Of course.)
"Couldn't find a prince one unfortunately," he explained as he began to unbutton his as well. "They're called kigu...some s**t, I don't remember. Kinda like a onesie-hoodie mix. The island's hot as s**t, and I don't expect you to wear it like every week or winter or whatever, but yeah." Hell, he doubted he would wear his after tonight, but it was important to for now.

"It's so dumb," she said with a laugh, undressing herself and throwing the clothes on the counter, then putting the pajamas on.
"Oh god it has a tail," she said, wiggling her backside to demonstrate the tail. "I-"
Then she realized the milk behind her was boiling and she made a small noise, lurching to turn the heat down before it went bad. She reached for the cocoa powder, focused for a moment on making sure their hot chocolate wasn't absolutely horrible. Once all was deemed safe she pushed the dragon head back a bit so she could see where she was looking and pointed to a cupboard out of her reach. "Cups please Mr. Skellington."

"Extremely ******** dumb." And yet he had bought two.
He rolled his sleeves up as Chel saved the hot cocoa and brought both mugs out without delay; in Jack's case, it was the "SHOE GODDESS" one Finn had given him for his birthday several years ago. "Watch the fire breath there, you overgrown lizard," he teased as he began to tear open the tiny bags of marshmallows. "We just got here."

Chel stole one of the marshmallows from the cup nonchalantly and then put the pot on its side to pour out two cups. There was enough left in the pot for a third cup if necessary (Chel always made extra because she remembered what it was like to not have extra). Before handing him the mug she tilted her chin up for a short kiss, only to have it break into a giggle because of the kigurumi heads knocking into each other. An actual, girly giggle.
Mug was carried for him and she gestured he follow her up the stairs, marshmallows included. They could add them once they were on the roof and settled.

Well, if he needed any sign this was a good idea, it was that sound.
Tugging his hood up, he grabbed the marshmallows and followed after, feeling strangely giddy. He hoped he wasn't grinning like an idiot.
"Remind me to get AK one then," Jack said as they ascended the stairs. "Goddamn weaboo probably already has three, but clearly I have good taste in these stupid things." Idle chatter to help filter the silence out.

Chel raised an eyebrow. "Weeaboo? Wassat?" she asked, concentrating on not spilling the hot chocolate. It was strange to think that this walk up the stairs was going to be routine now. She'd spent so long working on it that it was hard to see it as anything more than a project. This was their house. Their house.
Instead of any of the refurbished rooms, Chel went to one of the decrepit rooms. There was one that had a big window, easy access to a good viewing spot.
She gestured for him to open the window since her hands were full, and once done she slipped through. Thankfully while most of the roofs were harsh points, there was one that had a little bit of a flat space. Still a bit scary, still the feeling of being far off the ground, but not the fear of sliding off at any given moment.
A bit like China.
She handed him his mug once situated and gave a long, tired sound at the situation. She was just glad it wasn't cold or rainy at the moment. It was actually a nice, tropical cloudy. Not warm by any means, but not freezing or unbearable.

"Non-Asian obsessing over Asian s**t basically."
It was getting darker faster now. By the time the pair situated themselves on the roof, the sun had all but dipped down below the horizon. Jack squinted at the clouds like they were personally insulting him, and then he turned to Chel and passed her her little bag of marshmallows.
Anything to avoid looking at how far down the ground was.
"What should we toast? The house?"

She took the marshmallows and poured as many as possible into her cup, a few bumping off the roof and plummeting to the ground. It was the motion that made her realize-
"Ah, s**t you okay?," she asked, scooting closer to him and under his arm, acting like a prop against the slant of the roof. The question was more important than a toast. She reached a hand up to his face; focus on me.
